*** Second Call for Papers and Workshop Proposals ***
Fifth International Conference on Software Business (ICSOB 2014)
Azia Resort and Spa, Paphos Cyprus
June 15-18, 2014
_http://www.icsob.org_
Online submission: _https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icsob2014_
_Conference Theme
_Shortening the time-to-market: from short cycle times to continuous
value delivery
Advancements in the software industry have had a substantial impact not
only on productivity and on GDP growth globally, but also on our daily
work and lives. Moreover there is a noticeable spillover within other
industries (e.g. manufacturing, entertainment industry) enabling new
business models: companies bundle their physical products and software
services into solutions (e.g. using subscription models or in-app
purchases) and start to sell independent software products in addition
to physical products. Software business refers to commercial activities
in and around the software industry, aimed at generating income from the
delivery of software products and software services. Although the
software business shares common features with other international
knowledge-intensive businesses, it carries many inherent features making
it a challenging domain for research. In particular software companies
have to depend on one another to deliver a unique value proposition to
their customers or a unique experience to their users. Moreover recent
developments like the emerging app economy offer a variety of
opportunities for entrepreneurs or start-up companies. The recent
acquisition of the three-year old Finnish mobile game startup Supercell
with the total value of 2.2 billion Euros shows that the future of
software is not only in utility and but also in entertainment and
increasing freetime of people globally. This will have a profound effect
on software business and requires novel business models and new
approaches to software product development as well.
ICSOB 2014 addresses researchers and practitioners, who are concerned
with software business in different ways as well as the start-up
community, which is increasingly focusing on mobile and social software.
The main theme of 2014 focuses on speeding up the time from idea to
value delivery, towards continuous delivery of added value.
_Conference Topics
_You are invited to submit papers addressing contemporary issues
emerging at the intersection of the software and business domains,
broadly defined. Both papers reporting research results and industrial
experiences are welcome. Invited are original submissions on the topics
listed below, including but not limited to:
*Special sessions this year:
** Speeding up time-to-market: towards continuous value delivery
* Business models in game and entertainment software
*Regular themes of the conference series:
** Software Platforms and Ecosystems
* Corporate networks between software companies / Software Supply Networks
* Business impacts and business models of Cloud Computing
* Software Product Management
* Software business in the future
* Licensing, Intellectual Property and Patent Issues (IP modularity)
* Business models for software startups and existing software companies
* App Economy
* Productization, Servification, and Servitization
* Impact of Megatrends on software business (e.g. Customization)
* Effects of business models on software development
* Global and cultural aspects of software business
* Mobile software business trends
_Submission Instructions
_Full research papers (15 pages), short papers (6 pages), industrial
track presentations (abstract) and posters are all welcome. Accepted
full papers
and short papers will be included in the conference proceedings
published by Springer as a volume in Lecture Notes in Business
Information Processing (LNBIP) series (if at least one author of the
paper attends the conference and presents the paper). Extended versions
of the best papers selected from ICSOB 2014 will be published in a
special issue of Journal of Systems and Software
(_http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-systems-and-software/_).
PhD students are invited to submit research abstracts and present and
discuss their work at the Doctoral Symposium. A separate CFP for the

Multiagent systems operate across organizational and social
boundaries, facilitating interaction among and between entities, both
human and computational. For interaction within such complex
socio-technical systems to be effective/reliable, however, decisions
must be grounded upon identity and associated trustworthiness of
potential partners. Trust is foundational for the notion of agency and
for its defining relation of acting "on behalf of". It is also central
in modeling and supporting groups, teams and organizations,
human-agent interaction and in modeling the distribution of
(mis)information in agent-based systems. The aim of this workshop is
to bring together leading research on the use of computational models
of trust in agent systems and societies. Submissions to this workshop
should address key challenges in trust from theoretical,
methodological, empirical or applied perspectives. Perspectives from
interdisciplinary research are particularly welcome. The scope of the
workshop includes:
o Trust and risk-aware decision making
o Game-theoretic models of trust
o Deception and fraud, and its detection and prevention
o Intrusion resilience in trusted computing
o Reputation networks
o Privacy and access control in multi-agent systems
o Trust and information provenance
o Trust-based agent organization/coalition formation
o Detecting and preventing collusion
o Trust in human-agent interaction
o Identity, behavior, and information trustworthiness
o Trust, security and privacy in social networks
o Socio-cognitive models of trust
o Trust and argumentation
o Trustworthy infrastructures and services
o Trust modeling for real-world applications

*Call for papers: EGOS 2014 Rotterdam
<http://www.egosnet.org/2014_rotterdam/general_theme>, Subtheme 52,
Mobile work, mobile technologies and issues of control; *
*Sponsored by the Organizational Communication and Information Systems
(OCIS) division of the Academy of Management*
Deadline papersubmission
<http://www.egosnet.org/jart/prj3/egos/main.jart?rel=de&reserve-mode=active&…>:
January 13, 2014
http://www.egosnet.org/2014_rotterdam/subthemes
The advent of compact, mobile technologies and a concurrent cultural
change regarding the locus of work has led to significant changes in the
way in which work is conducted and organized today. Likewise
organizations have changed their expectations regarding desired ? and
possible - outcomes through modern mobile work activities. Whether by
design or by chance, organizations are increasingly capitalizing on the
mobility of their employees creating products and services that are
closer to the customers needs and more aligned with today?s mobile
lifestyle.
Accepting and riding the wave of mobile work, organizations and managers
have either to relinquish control on the employees? activities or change
the objects of control itself.
Mobility, and its supporting technologies, are somehow at odds with the
traditional view of control. The consequences of mobile technologies ?
whether owned by the organization or by the individual ? on work
practices are varied and habits, routines, and norms around technology
use in practice are very fluid (Lyytinen & Yoo, 2002). On the other side
normative control seems to play an important role leading to
crackberrian behaviors like always feeling at work (Mazmanian,
Orlikwoski & Yates, 2005) and behaviors to cope with the connectivity
paradox (Leonardi, Treem, & Jackson, 2010). Mobile technologies seem
also to provide the tools for constant and universal control
establishing ? in theory ? an electronic panopticon (O'Neill, 1996;
Zuboff, 1988). However the possibility of control does not imply that
control is actually performed nor that deviation is sanctioned.
Is technology-mediated control of people on the move something that
people have or something that they do? In functional models of
organizational control, it appears as something that managers have over
employees (Das, 1993). In contrast, other models specify control as a
joint accomplishment, such that managers assess compliance using
representations of work that employees produce (e.g., Anteby, 2008;
Hislop and Axtell, 2010).
Control differs from other attempts to shape the behavior of others,
because it focuses on monitoring the very actions it seeks to affect.
Most research on control indicates that managers enforce compliance by
turning organizations into a theatrical stage, such that everything
employees do is open to scrutiny (Zuboff, 1988). Such studies explain
control as processes of compliance and resistance. Thus the effects on
employees? compliance with prescribed procedures stem from the orders
that managers issue (e.g. Kohli & Kettinger, 2004). Such exposure also
influences employees? resistance to company procedures or managers?
orders (Ball & Wilson, 2000).
However, research on information technology (IT) and change (Orlikowski,
1996), street-level bureaucracy (Lipsky, 1980), and workplace deviance
(Lawrence & Robinson, 2007) also reveals that control can affect how
employees present their work, not just how they do their everyday work.
These studies note that employees might present an image of compliance,
even if they do not follow prescribed procedures or obey managers? orders.
Mobile technologies and mobile work provide the perfect setting to upset
the balance between front stage and back stage (Goffman, 1959) and the
perfect occasion both for managers to perform control and employees to
display compliance through technology.
The nexus between mobile technology, mobile work, and control appears to
be a very promising ground for research, that remains largely unexplored.
Overall, this sub-theme seeks to explore the relationships between
mobile work, the technologies that make the mobile work possible, and
how organizations perform and enact control over mobile work. Topics
relevant to this sub-theme include (but are not restricted to):
·How do organizations implement mobile technologies and how do these
processes differ from the implementation of other information and
communication technologies?
·How do organizations monitor and control of employees who use mobile
technologies for work?
·How do employees appropriate prescribed mobile technologies into their
everyday work?
·How do employees incorporate their own devices at work?
·How do organizations cope with the challenges that ?bring your own
mobile device? creates?
·How does employees? use of mobile technologies affect organizational
processes?
·How does mobile technology influence the (in)visibility of work?
In order to advance the state of research on these issues and more
generally on the interplay between mobile work, mobile technology, and
control we call for original contributions, both empirical and
theoretical, that rely on a variety of methods and theories.

2014 Dewald Roode Workshop on Information Systems Security Research
IFIP WG8.11/WG11.13
June 16-17, 2014 Newcastle, England
CALL FOR PAPERS
Following the success of the first five Information Systems Security Research Workshops (University of Cape Town, May 2009; Bentley University, October 2010; Virginia Tech, September, 2011; Brigham Young University, September, 2012; and University at Buffalo, October, 2013), the sixth workshop will continue the efforts to advance the discipline of information systems security through the creation, dissemination, and preservation of well-formed research. Through the active discussion in the workshop, participants will receive specific feedback on their research and provide feedback to others.
As in the previous five years, the Dewald Roode Workshop places a premium on research with highly reliable and validated theories, empirical data, and quantitative/qualitative social scientific methodologies. The workshop is intended to nurture individual papers for submission to a wide variety of top quality research journals. Selection for the workshop is competitive, and only authors of the accepted papers and the active working group members will be invited to participate.
Anchoring the workshop to information systems means that the research will attend and extend the social, organizational, and managerial literature in focal areas. Note that this is not an appropriate venue for papers with a purely technical, design-science, or economic approach. While we assume an effective foundation in information security technology, we regard information systems risk broadly, for example, computer crime, employee misconduct, cyber warfare, cyber terrorism, human error and/or accident, natural events, etc. We also address information systems security broadly, for example, privacy, awareness, policies, strategy, audit, planning and control. These and related research topics will be the focus of this workshop.
Topics may include (but are not limited to):
- Theoretical and empirical analyses of information security behavior
- Adoption, use, and continuance of information security technologies and policies
- Compliance with information security and privacy policies, procedures, and regulations
- Investigations of computer crime and security violations
- Individuals motivators and inhibitors of employee computer crime
- Forensic analysis of security breaches and computer crimes
- Legal, societal, and ethical issues in information security
