Manuscripts must comply with the Springer LNCS formatting rules. Prepare
your manuscript as a PDF file and submit it to the workshop organizers
via the EasyChair system.
We accept three types of submissions: Regular Research Papers,
Experience Papers and Demo/Poster Papers.
Regular Research Papers describe original solutions (theoretical,
methodological or conceptual) in the field of secure information systems
engineering. A regular research paper should describe the context of the
work, the problem tackled, the relevant state of the art, the position
or solution suggested and the benefits of the contribution. The length
of regular research papers should not exceed 12 pages (including all
text, figures, references and appendices.). Three to five keywords
characterising the paper should be indicated at the end of the abstract.
Experience papers present application of work to case studies and
industrial practice. Such papers should provide a detail description of
the application setting, describe lessons learned, and discuss best
practice. Experience papers should not exceed 12 pages (including all
text, figures, references and appendices.). Three to five keywords
characterising the paper should be indicated at the end of the abstract.
Demo/Poster papers should briefly discuss academic and/or industrial
efforts on software tools and systems for secure information systems
engineering. Demo/Poster papers should not exceed 1 page and they should
provide a brief description of the research and software/system to be
demonstrated. Poster papers are also ideal to explain a new idea and get
feedback from the community. It is expected that accepted papers will be
presented in the form of a live demonstration or a poster.
Submissions not conforming to the LNCS format and the above page
limitations or being obviously out of the scope of the workshop will be
rejected without review.
Registration
For each accepted submission, at least one author is expected to
register for the workshop and attend the workshop in order to present
the paper. Registration is through the CAiSE’14 web site.
Workshop Structure
The workshop will combine paper presentations, poster/demonstration
session, and a keynote. Moreover, accepted papers apart from
presentation time, will be assigned with one or two discussants with
responsibility to initiate the discussion on the paper. We are confident
that such structure will support a workshop environment that will be
based on discussion, debate and will therefore provide an important
contribution to the relevant research community.

SPECIAL ISSUE "PROCESSES MEET BIG DATA"

*AIMS AND SCOPE*
The aim of process mining is to discover, monitor and improve business
processes by extracting knowledge from event logs readily available in
today’s information systems. When large-scale processes are executed,
e.g., on (cloud-based) service-oriented environments, process logs
increasingly exhibit all typical properties of “big data”: wide physical
distribution, diversity of formats, non-standard data models,
heterogeneous semantics. Computing metrics over such “big logs” also
requires to handle security and privacy concerns of many participants,
and even to deal with non-uniform trustworthiness of log entries. New
techniques are therefore required for designing, validating and
deploying process metrics in this scenario, as well as for effectively
dash-boarding the processes’ performance indicators.
This special issue of IEEE Transaction on Service-Oriented Computing is
intended to create an international forum for presenting innovative
developments of process monitoring and analysis over service-oriented
architectures, aimed at handling “big logs” and use them effectively for
discovery, dash-boarding and mining. The ultimate objective is to
identify the promising research avenues, report the main results and
promote the visibility and relevance of this new area.
The special issue is related to two Dagstuhl Seminars happening in 2013:
- Unleashing Operational Process Mining
<http://www.dagstuhl.de/en/program/calendar/semhp/?semnr=13481>
- Verifiably Secure Process-Aware Information Systems
<http://www.dagstuhl.de/en/programm/kalender/semhp/?semnr=13341>
*TOPICS COVERED*

- Efficiently mining rare patterns in "big logs"
- Scalable techniques for distributed process monitoring
- Monitoring and analysis of cloud-based processes
- Architectures and data models for synthesizing and handling "big logs"
- Privacy-aware computation of process metrics

*CALL FOR PAPERS*
*Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Savanah, Georgia,
USA August 7-10, 2014.*
*Track: Systems Analysis and Design (SIGSAND)*
*MiniTrack: Analysis and Design for Service-Oriented Enterprises*
*Description:*
Enabled by the recent advances in web services, business process
automation, service-oriented architectures, and social, mobile and cloud
computing, organizations around the world have embarked on the
development of the next-generation enterprise infrastructures, referred
to by some as "Service-Oriented Enterprises". Essentially,
service-oriented enterprises are organizations that take advantage of
service-oriented computing to build capability to quickly respond to
changing business environment. Gartner termed this as enterprise agility
defined as "the ability of an organization to sense environmental change

*FEDERATED COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS CONFERENCE*
*held in *Warsaw, Poland, September 7-10, 2014
*CONFERENCE BACKGROUND AND GOALS*
Multimedia information has become ubiquitous on the web, creating new
challenges for indexing, access, search and retrieval. Recent advances
in pervasive computers, networks, telecommunications, and information
technology, along with the proliferation of multimedia mobile devices -
such as laptops, iPods, personal digital assistants (PDA), and cellular
telephones - have stimulated the development of intelligent
pervasive multimedia applications. These key technologies are creating a
multimedia revolution that will have significant impact across a wide
spectrum of consumer, business, healthcare, educational and governmental
domains. Yet many challenges remain, especially when it comes to
efficiently indexing, mining, querying, searching, retrieving,
displaying and interacting with multimedia data.
The Multimedia - Processing and Applications 2014 (MMAP 2014) Symposium
addresses several themes related to theory and practice within
multimedia domain. The enormous interest in multimedia from many
activity areas (medicine, entertainment, education) led researchers and
industry to make a continuous effort to create new, innovative
multimedia algorithms and applications.
As a result the conference goal is to bring together researchers,
engineers, developers and practitioners in order to communicate their
newest and original contributions. The key objective of the MMAP
conference is to gather results from academia and industry partners
working in all sub-fields of multimedia: content design, development,
authoring and evaluation, systems/tools oriented research and
development. We are also interested in looking at service architectures,
protocols, and standards for multimedia communications - including
middle-ware - along with the related security issues, such as secure
multimedia information sharing. Finally, we encourage submissions
describing work on novel applications that exploit the unique set of
advantages offered by multimedia computing techniques, including
home-networked entertainment and games. However, innovative
contributions that don't exactly fit into these areas will also be
considered because they might be of benefit to conference attendees.

biological systems. Synthetic Biology aims at streamlining the design
and synthesis of robust and predictable biological systems using
engineering design principles. Designing biological systems requires a
deep understanding of how genes and proteins are organized and
interact in living cells: Systems Biology aims at elucidating the
cellular organization at gene, protein, cell, tissue, organ and
network level using computational and biochemical methods.
The Synthetic and Systems Biology Summer School (SSBSS) is a
full-immersion course on cutting-edge advances in systems and
synthetic biology with lectures delivered by world-renowned experts.
The school provides a stimulating environment for doctoral students,
early career researches and industry leaders. Participants will also
have the chance to present their results (Oral presentations or
Posters) and to interact with their peers.
