Organizations have embraced Web 2.0 technologies, leading to
the emergence of 'Enterprise 2.0'. Workers at successful
organizations are increasingly mobile, social, and
collaborative. Consequently, the field of social computing
is increasingly interested in introducing and studying the
tools, practices and methodologies that engender the
characteristics of such a workforce. As new social computing
technologies continue to be embraced and thereby impact the
manner in which work is accomplished in these organizations,
it is important to discuss their implications on workforce
management topics such as recruiting, retention, attrition,
training, assessment, employee engagement and productivity.
This workshop will provide a forum where designers,
practitioners, as well as social science and computer
science researchers can: 1) introduce new tools or methods
that address workforce management issues, 2) advance our
understanding of workforce issues through qualitative and
quantitative empirical studies, and 3) discuss the impact
and opportunities recent trends such as social, mobile, and
crowdsourcing have on the workforce.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers
and practitioners to explore, discuss, and understand
challenges and new opportunities that arise from an emerging
Social Workforce. Topics of interest include, but are not
limited to the following:
- Social listening technologies
- Data privacy and protecting employee information
- Novel applications and technologies for workforce management
- Line of business workforce challenges and solutions, e.g.
sales enablement
- Voice of the employee
- Ethics of crowdsourcing
- Critical studies of workforce related issues
- Cross cultural studies of the workforce
- Workforce analytics (social analytics, predictive
analytics, social network analysis)
- Industry-specific (e.g. pharmaceuticals, retail, food &
beverages) workforce solutions and case studies
- Novel social learning and knowledge management approaches
- The role of HR in workforce management and optimization
- Novel work(place) models

Subject: [AISWorld] AMCIS 2013 Minitrack & BPMJ Special
Issue: "New Frontiers in Business Process Management"
Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2013 10:30:29 +0000
From: Müller Oliver <Oliver.Mueller(a)uni.li>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
2nd CALL FOR PAPERS
##################################################################################
AMCIS 2013 Minitrack & BPMJ Special Issue: "New Frontiers in Business Process Management"
##################################################################################
Business processes management (BPM) is a management approach that has its roots in a range of practices, such as Kaizen, TQM, and BPR. It makes use of methods and tools dedicated to the identification, documentation, improvement, implementation, and execution of organizational processes. Although BPM has been a popular topic for decades, the field is still evolving. Current technological developments and environmental pressures extend the reach and richness of BPM beyond its traditional frontiers. Considering the reach of BPM, the growing importance of alliances and networks requires end-to-end business processes to be managed across multiple organizations. The roles of employees and customers also change, evolving to more active initiators and participants of process improvement endeavors. Organizations that previously refrained from adopting a systematic approach to manage their operations finally turn to BPM methods and technologies as well. Regarding the richness of BPM, new methods and tools are proposed that help organizations with the successful adoption of BPM. Current web-based technologies may increase the involvement of internal and external stakeholders and reduce organizational inertia. Improved analysis functionality like process mining can leverage organizational learning. This mini-track intends to serve as a platform for research on these current trends in BPM.
We invite contributions from disciplines including information systems, information management, computer and management science to properly cover all current discussions on possible advancements to business process management. Boundary-spanning research that connects BPM with other than the named disciplines is also welcome.
Potential topics of interest are, but are not limited to:
Extending the reach of BPM
- BPM in new or previously less-covered domains (e.g., non-for-profit organizations, healthcare organizations and public administrations)
- Management of new or previously less-covered types of business processes (e.g., semi- or unstructured processes, knowledge- and information-intensive processes, creative processes)
- Inter-organizational BPM
- Green BPM
- Adoption and adaptation of BPM (X-aware BPM)
Extending the richness of BPM
- Positive process deviance and organizational learning
- Process mining
- Process repository management
- Process innovation management
- Real-time BPM
- Mobile computing and BPM
- Cloud computing and BPM
- Open-source BPM software
- Case management
- Web-based process modeling and process registries
- Collaboration and participation in BPM
- Social BPM
- Gamification in BPM
Submission Deadline: Fri, Feb 22, 2013

inklusive Abbildungen) umfassen. Näheres zu den Richtlinien für Autoren
finden Sie unter http://hmd.dpunkt.de/autorenrichtlinien.php.

Topics:
The workshop focuses on procedures and architectural principles related
to the creation of software for presenting, editing, transforming, or
analyzing models. This covers special constellations related to the use
of models and modeling languages, for example, the ability to
automatically derive model editor functionality from formal
specifications of modeling languages (meta-models, grammars, etc.). In
addition, design principles and implementation options for requirements
towards modeling tools, such as wizard support for interactive modeling,
or alternative ways to display graphical models, are discussed. All
kinds of models are included in this discussion, either domain-specific
or general-purpose models, as well as graphical and textual models with
their related software tooling support. Intended audience are scientists
and practitioners, who apply modeling techniques and model-driven
procedures, and develop their own modeling tools.
Dates:
2013-04-15 Paper submission
2013-05-31 Notification to authors
2013-06-21 Camera-ready version
Possible topics for submissions are (related topics are also welcome):
- How can formal language descriptions, e.g. meta-models or language
grammars, be consulted for partially or fully automatizing the creation
of modeling tools?
- How can process models of modeling activities be be made a basis for
innovative modeling tool development?
- Which methodical implications are bound to the use of code generation
approaches to create tooling support, and how do they compare to runtime
interpreter solutions?
- How can versioning conflicts be handled or avoided during parallel
development of modeling languages, modeling tools, and existing model
instances?
- Which role do model editors play as end-user interfaces to control
applications (“models at runtime“)? To what extent do “models at
runtime” blur the border between developing modeling tools and other
types of applications?
Submissions and reviews:
Full paper submissions may have a maximum of 10 pages. You can also
submit a short paper with at most 5 pages. All submissions must be made
in PDF format and comply with the IEEE Computer Society Conference
Proceedings Format Guidelines
(http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting). All papers will
be refereed by at least 3 members of the workshop program committee.
Accepted papers will be published along with the EDOC proceedings. The
proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press and be
made accessible through IEEE Xplore and the IEEE Computer Society

INTRODUCTION
------------
In a not far future 70% of the world’s population will live in densly
populated urban centers bringing back us to the XVI-XVII century;
although nowadays the dimensions are scaled up and cities are huge
aggregates with huge problems.
From the Far East, to the Americas and to Europe, cities, villages and
their surroundings are trying to solve urban problems by evolving
towards a new dimension in which the information infrastructure becomes
an indispensable asset of our life, contributes to the development of
info-ecosystems embracing 'smart mobility and last-mile logistics',
'smart health', 'smart government', 'smart culture and tourism', the
sustainability of the natural resources and the green economy. Such
integrated effort of info-urbanism represents a practical realization of
the infrastructural background needed to reify the UL part of the DULP
framework (D -> Design Inspired Learning; U -> Ubiquitous Learning; L ->
Liquid Learning Places; P -> Person in Place Centred Design; see
previous workshops DULP@ICALT2010, DULP@ICALT2011, DULPSPeL@ICALT2012)
and, inevitably, leads one to wonder about what the forms of future
smart education will be.
The problems hidden behind the smart city framework, however, are quite
relevant:
a) Very often in today's models of Smart Cities, ICT (Information and
Communication Technology) infrastructures are mainly considered as
indispensable assets to optimize the consumption of resources and to
streamline movement across the city: goods, people and data. In other
terms ICT is seen as enzyme and catalyst able to optimize city's
processes both in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
The field of education is no exception: in all smart city benchmarking
and ranking, in fact, education is considered to be an enabling factor
that impacts the quality of life only in terms of infrastructure and
services (density of schools, provision of content and services through
large band width, ability to produce competencies necessary for the
functioning of the system, etc.)
Such models tend to underestimate the relevance of the letters D and P
of the DULP framework. Individuals who live in the city can not be
considered just numbers; they are people who in their actions are driven
by motivations and expectations, individual desires and needs, who have
their own styles. Individuals that with the increasing complexity of the
society also need to learn how to define and redefine on the fly their
evolutionary path to realize their expectations.
b) To avoid possible new 'divides' and become, thus, 'smart citizens',
individuals need to acquire new skills. At present it is not completely
clear what such skills would be and how their acquisition may be
facilitated by the technological context, and through it assessed. In
other words, what are the dimensions of “digital ethniticity” when is
comes to ICT and learning in smart cities? It seems that technical
skills will be no longer sufficient and that the individuals need to
acquire more and more the so called 'people skills', whose acquisition
is much more complex to monitor.
c) No smart city model can be considered universal because local
cultures and constraints have a key role in determining the route toward
the development of a smart city and, therefore, future educational paths
and processes; it implies that the approach toward the smartness of the
education must therefore be a 'glocal ' one, in which technologies are
expected to respect the characteristics of the context (cultural
sustainable development)
OPEN QUESTIONS
--------------
In the scenario depicted in the introduction many questions arise and
wait for answers and solutions, among them:
• How the way of learning has changed, is changing and will change
because of the smart city, and in particular what are the literacy and
competences people need to learn in order to live in a smart city
environment ?
• Through which educational technology supported path will everyone, and
especially youths, become “participatorly” aware learners and citizens
of the future smart cities ?
• How will we learn from the open books that are represented by cities
of art, parks, agro-tech and industrial/productive districts ?
• How will data flowing from sensorised areas and personal devices will
be elaborated to support awareness and continuous learning?
• How will our behaviour be influenced by knowledge of co-evolution
mechanisms and limits of the ecosystems?
• Would 'smart cities learning' help to reinforce social inclusion and a
common sense of belonging ?
• and last but not least, how all this may depend on the characteristics
of the environment and how much room there will be for personalization
and contextualization ? Will the educational infrastructure be smart
enough to readjust, even “autopoietically”, to satisfy the needs and
support the expectations that everyone could develop life long, in
different contexts?

Dear Gustaf Neumann,
Let me kindly inform you that the 8th International Joint Conference on Software Technologies (ICSOFT 2013 - http://www.icsoft.org/) steering committee cordially invites you to submit a paper to the ICSOFT 2013 Conference, to be held in Reykjavík, Iceland. The deadline for paper submission is scheduled for February 6, 2013.
ICSOFT 2013 will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland, July 29 - 31, 2013.
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the Reykjavik University (RU). INSTICC is Member of the Object Management Group (OMG) and Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC).
The purpose of ICSOFT - since 2013 designated as the International Joint conference on Software Technologies - is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners working in areas that are either related to new software paradigm trends or to mainstream software engineering and applications. ICSOFT is composed of two co-located conferences, each specialized in the aforementioned areas. Together, ICSOFT-PT and ICSOFT-EA aim at becoming a major meeting point for software engineers worldwide.
ICSOFT-PT (8th International Conference on Software Paradigm Trends) will focus on the four main paradigms that have been intensively studied during the last decade for software and system design, namely: Models, Aspects, Services and Context.
These four paradigms will drive the design and development of future software systems encompassing a large number of research topics and applications: from programming issues to the more abstract theoretical aspects of software engineering; from models and services to the most complex management information systems; distributed systems, ubiquity, data interoperability; context understanding and many other topics are included in the scope of ICSOFT-PT.
ICSOFT-EA (8th International Conference on Software Engineering and Applications) will have a practical focus on software engineering and applications. The conference tracks are "Enterprise Software Technologies", "Software Engineering and Systems Security", "Distributed Systems", and "Software Project Management".
Software technologies are essential for developing any enterprise information system, encompassing a large number of research topics and applications: from programming issues to the more abstract theoretical aspects of software engineering; from software security to mobile applications; distributed systems, ubiquity, software quality as well as project management and other related topics are included in the scope of ICSOFT-EA.
ICSOFT is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 127 submissions 11% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 32% were presented as short papers and 11% as posters.
We would like to highlight the presence of the following keynote speakers:
- François E. Cellier, ETH Zürich, Switzerland
- Alexander Smirnov, SPIIRAS, Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Federation
- Claes Wohlin, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden
- Armin Größlinger, University of Passau, Germany
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support.
A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a CCIS Series book.
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and EI (Elsevier Index).
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). SCITEPRESS is member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/).
Workshops, Special sessions, Tutorials as well as Demonstrations dedicated to other technical/scientific topics are also envisaged: companies interested in presenting their products/methodologies or researchers interested in holding a tutorial are invited to contact the conference secretariat. Workshop chairs and Special Session chairs will benefit from logistics support and other types of support, including secretariat and financial support, to facilitate the development of a valid idea.
ICSOFT 2013 will be held in conjunction with DATA 2013 (www.dataconference.org), SIMULTECH 2013 (www.simultech.org) and ICETE 2013 (www.icete.org). Registration to ICSOFT will enable free attendance to any sessions of DATA, SIMULTECH and ICETE as a non-speaker.
Should you have any question please don't hesitate contacting me.
Kind regards,
Marina Carvalho
