a diverse community of constituents composed of scholars, researchers,
developers, educators, and practitioners. The Congress makes concerted
effort to reach out to participants affiliated with diverse entities
(such as: universities, institutions, corporations, government agencies,
and research centers/labs) from all over the world. The congress also
attempts to connect participants from institutions that have teaching as
their main mission with those who are affiliated with institutions that
have research as their main mission. The congress uses a quota system to
achieve its institution and geography diversity objectives."
One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of affiliated

SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
ASPOCP 2012
5th Workshop on Answer Set Programming and Other Computing Paradigms
http://sites.google.com/site/aspocp12
September 4th, 2012
Collocated with the International Conference on Logic Programming 2012
Budapest, Hungary
September 4-8, 2012
===============================================================================
AIMS AND SCOPE
Since its introduction in the late 1980s, answer set programming (ASP)
has been widely applied to various knowledge-intensive tasks and
combinatorial search problems. ASP was found to be closely related to
SAT, which has led to a new method of computing answer sets using SAT
solvers and techniques adapted from SAT. While this has been the most
studied relationship which is currently extended towards
satisfiability modulo theories (SMT), the relationship of ASP to other
computing paradigms, such as constraint satisfaction, quantified
boolean formulas (QBF), first-order logic (FOL), or FO(ID) logic is
also the subject of active research. New methods of computing answer
sets are being developed based on the relation between ASP and other
paradigms, such as the use of pseudo-Boolean solvers, QBF solvers, FOL
theorem provers, and CLP systems.
Furthermore, the practical applications of ASP also foster work on
multi-paradigm problem-solving, and in particular language and solver
integration. The most prominent examples in this area currently are the
integration of ASP with description logics (in the realm of the
Semantic Web) and constraint satisfaction. This workshop will
facilitate the discussion about crossing the boundaries of current ASP
techniques in theory, solving, and applications , in combination with
or inspired by other computing paradigms.
TOPICS
Topics of interests include (but are not limited to):
- ASP and classical logic formalisms (SAT/FOL/QBF/SMT/DL).
- ASP and constraint programming.
- ASP and other logic programming paradigms, e.g., FO(ID).
- ASP and other nonmonotonic languages, e.g., action languages.
- ASP and probabilistic reasoning.
- ASP and machine learning.
- New methods of computing answer sets using algorithms or systems of
other paradigms.
- Language extensions to ASP.
- ASP and multi-agent systems.
- ASP and multi-context systems.
- Modularity and ASP.
- ASP and argumentation.
- Multi-paradigm problem solving involving ASP.
- Evaluation and comparison of ASP to other paradigms.
- ASP and related paradigms in applications.
- Hybridizing ASP with procedural approaches.
- Enhanced grounding or beyond grounding.

*2nd CFP - Journal of Virtual Worlds Research: Managerial and Commercial
Applications of Virtual Worlds*
http://jvwresearch.org/index.php/component/content/article/10-cfps/27
The Journal of Virtual Worlds Research is an online, open access
academic journal that engages a wide spectrum of scholarship and
welcomes contributions from the many disciplines and approaches that
intersect with virtual worlds research. Virtual worlds ignite a
continuously evolving area of study that spans multiple disciplines and
the JVWR editorial team looks forward to engaging a wide range of
creative and scholarly research.
*Motivation and Scope*
The intriguing potential of virtual worlds has attracted a significant
amount of scholarly work in the business research domain. As much as we
recognize the invaluable contribution made by scholars in this area, we
also see the need for more research that can offer visionary
perspectives to shape the future design and use of virtual worlds.
Through the business lens, virtual worlds are often perceived to be
promising yet risky and exciting yet formidable for the use and
management of individual and collaborative work. Scholars and
practitioners are confronted with an apparent contradiction: on the one
hand, the business case for virtual worlds appears to offer great
promise; while on the other hand, the observed returns and demonstrable
successes are often absent or negligible.
This special issue on "managerial and commercial applications" of
virtual worlds aims to highlight research that makes a significant and
novel contribution in theory and practice about virtual worlds in the
business domain. We are seeking papers that showcase new directions for

=====================================================================
CALL FOR PAPERS
4TH WORKSHOP ON CONTEXT-AWARE RECOMMENDER SYSTEMS (CARS-2012)
(In conjunction with the 6th ACM Conference on Recommender Systems)
September 9, 2012 - Dublin, Ireland
http://www.cars-workshop.org
=====================================================================
This workshop builds upon the success of the previous three Workshops on
Context-Aware Recommender Systems held in New York (2009), Barcelona (2010),
and Chicago (2011), which brought together an international group of
researchers to explore the importance and use of contextual information in
recommender systems as well as to discuss new research directions.
The importance of contextual information has been recognized by researchers
and practitioners in many disciplines, including e-commerce personalization,
information retrieval, ubiquitous and mobile computing, data mining,
marketing, and management. While a substantial amount of research has
already been performed in the area of recommender systems, the vast majority
of existing approaches focuses on recommending the most relevant items to
users and does not take into account any additional contextual information,
such as time, location, weather, or the company of other people. Therefore,
this workshop aims to bring together researchers with wide-ranging
backgrounds to identify important research questions, to exchange ideas from
different research disciplines, and, more generally, to facilitate
discussion and innovation in the area of context-aware recommender systems
(CARS). In particular, topics of interest for this workshop include (but
are not limited to):
-- Context modeling techniques for recommender systems;
-- Context-aware user modeling for recommender systems;
-- Data sets for context-dependent recommendations;
-- Algorithms for detecting the relevance of contextual data
-- Algorithms for incorporating contextual information into recommendation process;
-- Algorithms for building explicit dependencies between contextual features and ratings;
-- Interacting with context-aware recommender systems;
-- Novel applications for context-aware recommender systems;
-- Mobile context-aware recommender systems;
-- Context-aware group recommendations;
-- Large-scale context-aware recommender systems;
-- Evaluation of context-aware recommender systems.
In case the main topic of the paper is a challenging dataset for
context-aware recommender systems, the author(s) should describe the data
model and the main features of this dataset, and make the dataset available
for the research community.
PAPER SUBMISSION
The length of research submissions is 5 pages in the standard ACM SIG proceedings
format. We also encourage the submission of industry papers, which can have a
length of 2-5 pages. Microsoft Word and LaTeX templates for papers in ACM SIG
format are provided at:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates
All submissions must be in English and the files should be in PDF format.
Paper submissions and reviews will be handled electronically; each paper
will be evaluated by the workshop program committee based on originality,
significance, technical soundness, and clarity. All papers must be
submitted through the CARS-2012 page on the EasyChair conference management
site (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cars2012).
ACCEPTED PAPERS
Authors will present their work at the workshop. Depending on the number of
submissions, we are planning to have presentations in front of the workshop
audience as well as a poster session, in which participants can discuss their
ideas. The accepted papers will be made available on the workshop website.
It is planned to publish the proceedings on CEUR as well.
The workshop will NOT request the copyright transfer from the authors;
therefore, after receiving feedback at the workshop, the authors will be
able to submit the improved versions of their papers to conferences and
journals (the workshop organizers are currently exploring the possibilities
to organize a special issue on this topic in some research journal).
IMPORTANT DATES
Deadline for paper submission: June 18, 2012
Notification of acceptance: July 9, 2012
Please note that the deadline is final and we we can not grant any extension.

_____________________________________
Dear Gustaf Neumann,
IJCCI 2012 welcomes the submission of position papers whose deadline is set for next June 14.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topics.
The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster".
The conference will be sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and held in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). INSTICC is Member of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC).
IJCCI is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 283 submissions, 12% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 22% were presented as short papers and 20% as posters.
Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers (full, short and posters) will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. IDFR
A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a SCI Series book.

Topics:
Software tools for modeling are prerequisites for scientific and
practical applications of modeling methods and modeling languages. To
test and exemplify new modeling approaches, research prototypes of model
editors are required, as well as tools for presenting and analyzing
models. To be able to efficiently develop such modeling tools. it is
desirable to methodically guide the development of modeling tools, and
elaborate procedures to align their design with the conceptualization of
new modeling languages and modeling methods.
The workshop "Methodical Development of Modeling Tools" (MeDMoT'12)
focuses on procedures and architectural principles related to the
creation of software for presenting, editing, transforming or analyzing
models.
Dates:
2012-06-10 Paper submission (with blinded author names)
2012-07-15 Notification of acceptance
2012-07-31 Camera-ready article
Possible research questions for submissions are (related topics are also
welcome):
- How can formal language descriptions, e. g. meta-models or language
grammars, be consulted for partially or fully automatizing the creation
of modeling tools?
- How can process models describing modeling activities be made the
basis for developing process-oriented modeling tools?
- Which methodical implications are bound to the use of code generation
approaches to create tooling support, and how do they compare to runtime
interpreter solutions?
- How can versioning conflicts be handled or avoided during parallel
development of modeling languages, modeling tools, and existing model
instances?
- Which role do model editors play as end-user interface to control
applications ("models at runtime")? To what extent do "models at
runtime" blur the border between developing modeling tools and other
types of applications?
Submission and reviews:
Articles must be created in IEEE 8.5" x 11" two-column format
(http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html),
according to the guidelines of the main conference
