IMPORTANT DATES
==========================
Submission Deadline: May 15, 2012 (Final Extended)
Author Notification: May 25, 2012
Author Registration: June 22, 2012
Final Manuscript: June 22, 2012
Workshop Dates: September 26 - 28, 2012
Imagine if our health status can be constantly monitored
whilst doing our daily routine, imagine if we can be alerted
of a subtle abnormality with our heart while we asleep, and
imagine if we can be advised of a potential life-threatening
disease without the need to see a physician, and finally
imagine if all of these had already been possible, how many
lives could have been saved. These are not myths ? in fact
with the advent of pervasive computing and ambient
intelligence, the notion of "anytime" and "anywhere"
healthcare/medicine monitoring and management, which is
coined as Pervasive Healthcare, can be realized anytime
sooner. Pervasive Healthcare is predominantly supported by
miniaturized mobile or embedded information and
communication technologies with some degree of
"intelligence" and advanced user interfaces.
Pervasive Healthcare is at the forefront of research, and
presents the ways in which mobile, sensor, embedded and
wireless technologies can be used to deliver the potential
of pervasive healthcare. This potential includes
prevention, abnormalities detections, short-term monitoring
(home healthcare monitoring), long-term monitoring (nursing
home), personalized healthcare monitoring, mobile health
monitoring, remote monitoring and diagnosis, fall-detection
and management, assisted applications, drugs transportation
and treatment, to name a few.
In achieving this potential, it is imperative to consider
the systems, applications, algorithms, logical models,
solution architectures and the associated devices and
communications technology. Importantly, this attempt comes
with issues, requirements, and challenges that must be
addressed in order to orchestrate various technological
advanced devices and drive them to work intelligently and
seamlessly together to eventually make systems and services
that help majority of the world?s population.
There are two key perspectives of Pervasive Healthcare, one
being the domain of application of enabling technologies and
the other being the concept that integrates healthcare more
seamlessly to our everyday life. Pervasive Healthcare will
essentially lead to a radical change from doctor centric to
patient centric models.
The objective of this workshop is to bring a high-level
international forum for academics, engineers, scientists,
researchers and research scholars to address the challenges
and discuss opportunities to explore new research directions
and develop new ideas by soliciting work in progress and
completed research papers covering the state of the art in
pervasive computing, systems, services, applications,
technologies and intelligence for healthcare. The topics of
interest include but are not limited to the following:
* Pervasive healthcare systems
* E-Health and IT in healthcare
* Wireless and mobile health technologies
* Wireless and mobile health monitoring
* Medical decision support systems
* Ad hoc networks for health monitoring
* Assisted technology and application
* Mobile mash-up for pervasive healthcare
* Web-based systems for pervasive health monitoring
* Context and situation awareness in healthcare
* Data management and solution architecture for Pervasive
Healthcare
* Monitoring of mental health, medication and disability
* Incentives models in wireless health monitoring
* Data stream and mining in pervasive healthcare
* Machine learning and pattern recognition/mining of large
continuous pervasive data sets
* Intelligent systems for healthcare
* Pervasive healthcare management
* Security and privacy in pervasive healthcare
* Cognitive sensor networks for ubiquitous healthCare
* Multi-sensor data fusion for body sensor networks
* Wearable bio motion sensors and applications to monitor
human activity
* Middleware for wireless body sensor networks

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP: ACM RecSys 2012 Workshop on
Recommender Systems and the Social Web
Date: Tue, 1 May 2012 09:34:52 +0000
From: <dietmar.jannach(a)tu-dortmund.de>
To: <dietmar.jannach(a)tu-dortmund.de>
======================================================================
CALL FOR PAPERS
4th Workshop on Recommender Systems& the Social Web
in conjunction with ACM RecSys 2012
Dublin, Ireland, September 9, 2012
http://ls13-www.cs.uni-dortmund.de/homepage/rsweb2012/
Submission Deadline: June 8, 2012
======================================================================
The exponential growth of the Social Web poses both challenges and new opportunities for recommender systems research. The Social Web has turned information consumers into active contributors creating massive amounts of information. Finding relevant and interesting content at the right time and in the right context is challenging for existing recommender approaches. At the same time, social systems by their very nature encourage interaction among users and with a variety of resources, thus generating new sources of knowledge for recommender systems. Users of social media on the Web often explicitly provide personal information or implicitly express preferences through their interactions with other users or with resources (e.g. tagging, friending, rating, commenting, etc.).
New application areas for recommender systems emerge with the popularity of the Social Web. Recommenders can not only be used to sort and filter Web 2.0 and social network information, they can also support users in the information sharing process, e.g., by recommending suitable tags during folksonomy development. There are also opportunities for novel recommender applications on the Social Web that directly involve humans in the recommendation process, for example, users or groups making recommendations to other users, or online multi-user games leading to recommendations.
These various new sources of knowledge can be leveraged to improve recommendation techniques and develop new strategies which focus on social recommendation. This social layer can also be used as evidence on which to infer relationships and trust levels between users for recommendation generation.
Recommender systems technologies can assist social systems through increasing adoption and participation and sustaining membership. Through targeted and timely intervention which stimulates traffic and interaction, recommender systems technology can play its role in sustaining the success of the Social Web.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researcher and practitioners to explore, discuss, and understand challenges and new opportunities for recommender systems and the Social Web. Original contributions are solicited in all aspects of recommendation on the Social Web, including, but not limited to the following areas:
* Social network and folksonomy development: Recommending friends, tags, bookmarks, blogs, music, communities etc.
* Leveraging models of user behavior on the Social Web for recommendation
* Recommender systems mash-ups, intelligent user interfaces, rich media recommender systems
* Collaborative knowledge authoring, collective intelligence
* Topic emergence and evolution on the Social Web and their role in recommendation process
* Recommender applications involving users or groups directly in the recommendation process
* Exploiting folksonomies, social network information, user interactions, and communities in the recommendation process
* The role of context in Social Web recommendation
* Trust and reputation aware social recommendations
* Semantic Web recommender systems, use of ontologies or microformats
* Empirical evaluation of social recommender techniques

Special Issue on "Secure Mobility in Future Communication Systems under Standardization"
******************
MOTIVATION:
******************
In the last decade, wireless communications and electronic devices have experienced an impressive
growth. The use of the air as propagation medium has greatly attracted both users and industry due to
the numerous advantages offered by this kind of communication. Nowadays, the use of our smart
phone, tablet or netbook is becoming a core part of our daily lives. Nevertheless, wireless
communications capabilities are expected to be integrated in multiple types of products such as
vehicles, electrical appliances, hospital devices, etc. Thus, in the days to come, we expect that wireless
communications will become ubiquitous for the future computer systems. The feasibility of this
scenario strongly relies on the existence of technologies enabling both mobility and security. Mobility
is the cornerstone of wireless communications and an essential feature to enable the communication
between devices anywhere, anytime. However, these communications need to be secured since, due to
the wireless network’s nature, eavesdroppers are able to capture any communication happening near to
its coverage area.
Standardization organizations, aware of this challenging issue in future communication systems, are
producing a set of specifications to enable secure mobility in different scenarios. For example, the
IEEE 802.21 group is developing standards to assist a secure handoff in future Next Generation
Networks (NGNs). This work is complemented by the IETF where it can be found a wide number of
working groups dealing with mobility management and security in future heterogeneous networks, an
issue that is also being tackled by the ITU-T Y-Series recommendations. The ISO and ETSI
organizations are also dealing with mobility and security in other communication scenarios. For
instance, the technical committee ISO TC 204 is addressing the specific needs that appear in Intelligent
Transport Systems (ITS). This topic is also addressed by ETSI, where different work programs are also
producing standards for Machine-to-Machine communications and Smart Grids, paying special
attention to the specific security requirements of these scenarios. These are just a few examples of the
great effort being devoted by the standardization activity, which demonstrates the importance of the
subject.
The objective of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive guide on solutions reached by the
standardization organizations in the mobility and security fields. In particular, it will focus on either
recently standardized solutions or proposals under discussion. We expect that the special issue will
stimulate further related research and technology improvements in this significant subject.
All received submissions will be sent out for peer review by at least two experts in the field and
evaluated with respect to relevance to the special issue, level of innovation, depth of contributions, and
quality of presentation. Guest editors will make an initial assessment of the suitability and scope of all
submissions. Contributions that either lack originality, clarity in presentation or fall outside the scope
of the special issue will not be sent for review and the authors will be promptly informed in such cases.
Submitted papers must not be under consideration by any other journal or publication.
************
SCOPE:
************
This special issue is intended to collect existing standardization efforts on achieving secure mobility in
future communication systems: Next Generation Networks (NGNs), Machine-to-Machine

Special Call for Linked Dataset Descriptions
<http://www.semantic-web-journal.net/blog/semantic-web-journal-special-call-…>
Linked Data is a key enabler for the Semantic Web vision, and a decisive
step towards a truly "Semantic" Web.
The Semantic Web journal calls for brief papers (about 4-6 pages)
containing a concise description of a Linked Dataset. The paper shall
describe in concise and clear terms key characteristics of the dataset
as a guide to its usage for various (possibly unforeseen) purposes. In
particular, such a paper shall typically give information, amongst
others, on the following aspects of the dataset.
* Name, URL, version date and number, licensing, availability, etc.
* Topic coverage, source for the data, purpose and method of creation
and maintenance, reported useage etc.
* Metrics and statistics on external and internal connectivity, use of
established vocabularies (e.g., RDF, OWL, SKOS, FOAF), language
expressivity, growth.
* Examples and critical discussion of typical knowledge modeling
patterns used.
* Known shortcomings of the dataset.
Papers will be evaluated along the following dimensions: Quality of the
dataset, usefulness (or potential usefulness) of the dataset, clarity
and completeness of the descriptions.
Papers should usually be written by people involved in the generation or
maintenance of the dataset, or with the consent of these people.
Prospective authors must take notice of the submission guidelines posted
at http://www.semantic-web-journal.net/authors
Deadlines:
Paper submission: May 20th, 2012
Notification: Usually within 8 weeks of submission

If you wish to present a paper at the III 2012 workshop submit a short
paper (3 to 4 pages). Please submit them as email attachments
(Microsoft Word files only) to this email address - i.i.i(a)ed.ac.uk -
indicating in the e-mail subject the title of the workshop: III2012
Rationale:
This workshop will focus on the emergence and continuing evolution of new kinds of information infrastructures (IIs) in business, the corporate world and other settings. By connecting a growing number of systems and data, Information Infrastructures support user work in everyday life, but also bring about increased organizational and technological complexity. As IIs permeate an increasingly broad range of social and institutional contexts, they generate both new kinds of challenges for information systems development, and new social, organizational and market forms as foci for social study.
This is the second Edinburgh workshop on IIs in recent years. The first, in 2006, explored what were then emerging visions of the future1. Some of the computing models set out have subsequently failed to materialise as expected, whilst others not predicted have come into being. Today, we find that the ecology of players, services, software and platforms enabled by network connectivity and modern tools is increasingly complex. Information infrastructure standards and patterns of usage have been established, legitimating a growing set of user strategies, social competences and forms of expertise. In this workshop we ask how information infrastructures and related social, organizational and market forms innovate.
Themes:
The workshop will bring together researchers to share empirical studies, analytical approaches and methodological concerns in the understanding of Information Infrastructures innovation, and to explore what the future holds for research in this area. We invite papers on the following themes:
Emerging Information Infrastructures
- Social media applications that enable the sharing and collation of information between peers and across multiple sites
- The further integration and expansion of corporate enterprise systems (e.g. ERP, CRM)
- Patient health record infrastructures that connect up various health providers
- New models for the provision of computing services (such as Software-as-a-Service and Cloud Computing)
- The Internet of Things
- Data analytics
- New platforms that seek to leverage the time/expertise of globally distributed communities of developers (e.g. FLOSS, the Apple App store).
Analytical approaches
- The Social Shaping of Technology and its extension into the Biography of Artefacts perspective
- Socio-material understandings of Information Infrastructures
- Approaches influenced by ethnomethodology and micro-sociology
- Science and Technology Studies approaches
- Approaches which appreciate the “long now” and multi-sitedness of Information Infrastructures
Methodological concerns
- Adequacy of conventional methodologies for understanding the scale, scope and evolution of II
- Questions of fieldwork focus when researching information infrastructures
