(Click above link for full conference information)**
Papers in all traditional areas of business as well as any of the
reference disciplines are solicited, with particular emphasis on papers
in early development stages and papers involved with non-traditional
paradigms. Papers with an international perspective are especially
desired. Submit papers to any of the following tracks:
Accounting Track
Accounting Standards (US-GAAP vs. IFRS) Track
Business Ethics Track
Economics Track
Finance Track
Information Systems and Technology Track
Management (General) Track
Management (OB/OT) Track
Management (POM) Track
Management (HRM) Track

General Business Track
*International Conference on
Learning and Administration in Higher Education*
http://ICLAHE.org
(Click above link for full conference information)**
We encourage the submission of full papers, and abstracts to any of the
following tracks:
*Learning Track*
This track is not limited to just pedagogical research but also includes
papers that share experiences and viewpoints on the state of
learning/teaching in higher education today and tomorrow. We believe
that much of the learning process is not discipline specific and that we
can all benefit from looking at research and practices outside our own
discipline. Too often in higher education, expertise in a field of study
is assumed to automatically translate into the ability to help students
learn that field of study.
The ideal submission would take a general focus on learning rather than
a discipline-specific perspective. For example, instead of focusing on
Motivating Students in Group Projects in a specific course, you might
broaden the perspective to Motivating Students in Group Projects in
Upper Division Courses or simply Motivating Students in Group Projects.
The objective here is to share your work with the larger audience.
Typical topics have included using qualitative measures and assignments
in a quantitative course, importance of prerequisites, internships,
service learning, student/faculty feedback, team issues, online and
hybrid courses, academic honesty, ethics in IS, can ethics be taught,
Forsyth's ethics position, learning styles, effective use of technology,
experiential learning, etc.
*Academic Administration Track*
We believe that many of the challenges facing academic departments are
not discipline specific and that learning how other departments address
these challenges will be beneficial. Typical topics have been
accreditation, faculty moral, faculty productivity, how to make the
transition from faculty to administration and back again, meeting
external standards, optimizing course schedules, caught in the middle
between higher administration and faculty, IS in academic
administration, ethics in scholarship, etc.
______________________________________________________________________________
*INFORMATION APPLICABLE TO BOTH CONFERENCES*
*Participation:*
If you are interested in moderating a session or reviewing submitted
papers, contact Dr. Edd R. Joyner (Conference Chair) at
eddjoyner(a)awoic.org Please indicate the broadest academic areas you
feel comfortable reviewing.
*Review Process:*
All papers will be blind reviewed by three or more peer reviewers.
Authors will normally be notified of the status of their papers within
2-weeks of submission. Accepted articles will be published in the
refereed conference proceedings. Papers receiving Best Paper awards will
be published in one of our Journals (See below.)
*Abstracts:*
While only full papers are eligible for publications in the Journals
listed below, Abstracts are welcome for presentation at the conference.

CALL FOR PAPERS-AMCIS 2012
Seattle, Washington
August 9-12, 2012
TRACK: E-Government
MINI-TRACK: Success Factors and Enablers for the Adoption and Diffusion of e-Government Services
E-Government services development has been subject to research for years. Various projects from both the theoretical and practical perspective have dealt, e.g., with the implementation of IT systems for e-Government service delivery, organizational changes in order to enhance the overall performance of public administrations, or the adoption of e-Government services. E-Government services like electronic tax computation promise advantages for all stakeholders: a customer-oriented 24/7 service with shorter response time for the citizens and businesses as well as process optimization effects or cost reduction for the public administrations.
On the one hand, administrations increasingly provide their services online, and the e-Government readiness is growing. On the other hand, the acceptance and usage rate of e-Government services amongst the citizens is still rather low in many countries. Comparing these effects to other domains like net-banking or e-Commerce, which are very popular in industrialized parts of the world, this lack of acceptance is somehow astonishing. A similar argument can be made for e-Democracy, where somehow the uptake does seem to be low compared to the promises.
However, only with high usage rates the promised effects regarding cost reduction and process efficiency for the citizens, businesses and the public administrations can be achieved. Various studies show that the mere existence of IT-based services and especially e-Government services are not success factors of their own. In the end, it is the potential users adopting the services, making the technology a successful one. It has shown that there is a variety of influences that drive the acceptance of e-Government.
In order to increase the success of e-Government service development, several research areas still need to be tackled: What are the success factors and enablers for the acceptance of e-Government services? What are the main factors which hamper the use of e-Government services? How can the acceptance of e-Government services be boosted?
TOPICS
The topics of the mini-track are related but not limited to:
__ Case studies and empirical evaluations on the acceptance of e-Government services by citizens and further customers of public administrations
__ Identification of key success factors and critical enablers for the acceptance of e-Government services
__ Description of procedure models and/or research agendas for the increase of e-Government service adoption
__ Theoretical reflections on acceptance rates of e-Government services
__ Evaluation and/or adoption of classical IS acceptance models to the domain of e-Government
__ Investigations on the role of communication issues and/or psychological issues in the area of e-Government service acceptance
__ Comparative studies on adoption and diffusion of IT-based services in the public sector and other application domains
__ Comparative analyses of e-Government adoption in different countries and in different parts of the world (e.g., with a focus on e-Government adoption in developing countries)
__ Studies on the role of culture influencing the e-Government and e-Democracy adoption
__ Evaluations on how public administrations' use of new technologies like social media and mobile technologies can affect e-Democracy and e-Government adoption
__ E-Government Acceptance through mobile e-Government services
__ Open data government policies as facilitator of E-government service acceptance
__ Influence of service oriented architectures and standard web services on e-Government adoption
IMPORTANT DEADLINES
__ January 2, 2012: Manuscript Central will start accepting paper submissions at: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/amcis2012
__ March 1, 2012: (11:59 PM Pacific time zone): Deadline for paper submissions

Call for Papers
2nd International Workshop on "Process Model Collections"
In conjunction with the 10th International Conference on Business
Process Management
(http://bpm2012.ut.ee/)
Tallinn, Estonia, September 3, 2012
IMPORTANT DATES
Submission of Papers: June 1, 2012
Notification: July 2, 2012
Final Version Due: July 30, 2012
Workshop: September 3, 2012
WORKSHOP BACKGROUND AND GOALS
Nowadays, as organizations reach higher levels of Business Process
Management maturity, they tend to possess and actively use large numbers
of business process models. It is quite common that such collections of
industry-strength business process models include thousands of
activities and related business objects such as data, applications,
risks, etc. These models are used to solve a variety of modeling
challenges, and they are increasingly published to a large number of
stakeholders with varying skills and responsibilities. In that sense, it
may not come as a surprise that many organizations struggle to manage
such high volumes of complex process models. The problem is exacerbated
by overlapping content across models, poor version management, process
models that are used simultaneously for different purposes, the use of
different modeling notations such as EPCs, BPMN, etc.
Against this backdrop, the aim of this workshop is to attract novel
research in the area of business process model collections. Conceptual,
technical and application-oriented contributions are pursued within the
scope of this theme:
- Conceptual work relates to the design of approaches for
the management of process model collections, e.g. frameworks and
structures to govern the use of such collections.
- Technical work concerns solutions to operationalize the
management, and facilitate the maintenance of content in process model
repositories, e.g. via refactoring or abstraction techniques. It also
concerns software aspects related to process model repositories such as
version management, efficient storage, querying and retrieval of process
models, and security.
- Application papers can provide case studies with, or
empirical evaluations of, industrial process model collections and
reference process models (e.g. ITIL, SCOR, eTOM).
TOPICS
Topics of the workshop include but are not limited to:
- management of process model collections (e.g. frameworks,
modeling conventions and guidelines, governance, standardization)
- refactoring techniques and maintenance aspects (e.g.
clone detection, structuring, abstraction)
- features of process model repositories (e.g. version
management, storage, querying and retrieval, indexing, security)
- process similarity search
- process merging and consolidation
- variability management, process configuration and process
families
- case studies and empirical evaluations of industrial
process model repositories and reference process model collections (e.g.
ITIL, SCOR, eTOM).
FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP
The workshop will consist of presentations of the accepted papers and an
additional key-note speaker. Papers should be submitted in advance and
will be reviewed by at least three members of the program committee. All
accepted papers will be published as pre-proceedings and, potentially in
revised form, in the workshop proceedings published by Springer-Verlag
in the Lecture Notes on Business Information Processing. At least one
author for each accepted paper should register for the workshop and plan
to present the paper.
PAPER SUBMISSION
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers for presentation in any
of the areas listed above. Only papers in English will be accepted, and
the length of a paper should not exceed 12 pages. Papers should be
formatted in LNBIP format. The title page must contain a short abstract,
a classification of the topics covered, preferably using the list of
topics above, and an indication of the submission category (work in
progress/regular paper). Papers should be submitted electronically via
the PMC'12 submission system. Please upload a self-contained PostScript
file or PDF file. All submissions must be received by no later than June
1, 2012.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS ON
Open Data for Science and Society
Forward-Looking, Visionary Approaches for Public Sector Information Sharing
and Utilisation
AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Open data provide an unprecedented opportunity for societies to move towards
transparency, evidence-based decisions, enhanced cohesion, public engagement
and trust. Public sector information may be offered as "open data" in many
forms and through different media: from simple datasets describing traffic
or unemployment, to web services linking and mashing information from
different sources, to interactive visualization of complex phenomena, to
citizen-based data gathering and transmission. This way, new information is
made available to scientists, citizens and enterprises for developing and
offering value-adding services, thus forming a supply chain around publicly
available open data.
In this context, the ENGAGE project (http://www.engage-project.eu ), funded
by the European Commission under the e-Infrastructures Programme, aims at
the deployment and use of an advanced service infrastructure, incorporating
distributed and diverse public sector information resources as well as data
curation, semantic annotation and visualisation tools, capable of supporting
scientific collaboration and governance-related research from
multi-disciplinary scientific communities, while also empowering the
deployment of open governmental data towards citizens.
Objectives of the Call:
With this call for contributions, ENGAGE aims to attract high-quality
innovative contributions, in the form of short papers that depict sound
positions and views for advancing the provision, usage and final utilization
of open data by scientists of all scientific domains, citizens and
businesses. Topics of this call include but are not fully limited to the
following:
. Justification of requirements for public sector information, orienting
from any scientific domain
. Examples and best practices of open data utilization for scientific
purposes
. Visionary ideas on open data utilization within society
. Metadata schemas for open and linked data management
. Methods and tools for open data acquisition, curation, management and
publication
. Methods and tools for integrating and combining open data from distributed
heterogeneous sources
. Methods and tools for combining linked open data with in-house or open
structured information systems in the 'deep web'
. Information systems and services for open data gathering and provision
. New approaches for public sector information visualization
. Collaborative governance approaches involving the use of open data
. Open data and citizen participation in information gathering /
crowdsourcing
. New governance and business models for open data
. Legal provisions and open issues at national and European level, regarding
re-use of governmental data
. International cooperation in the field of open and linked data
Excellent contributors should provide multi-disciplinary approaches,
possibly combining information science with social sciences, management,
finance, engineering or law, to allow uptake of open data by diverse
scientific domains, for modeling or solving complex societal problems.
Award Scheme:
Up to 5 authors of the best papers submitted under this call will be invited
to join the ENGAGE Experts Scientific Committee. Members of this committee
have a key role in providing their expertise in specific research areas, in
participating in the workshops that will be conducted during the project,
and in presenting their comments and feedback to the project deliverables.
Beside the prestige and the opportunity to shape the EU research agenda on
Open Data, each member of the Expert Scientific Committee will receive a sum
of 2,500 EUR to fund participation in the activities of the project.
Submission Guidelines:
All submissions must be between 2,000 and 3,000 words, following the LNCS
format:
http://www.springer.com/cda/content/document/cda_downloaddocument/word.zip?S

Call For Papers
AOSE 2012
13th International Workshop on Agent-Oriented Software Engineering
Held with AAMAS 2012, Valencia, Spain, June 4, 2012
http://winf.in.tu-clausthal.de/events/aose12
MOTIVATION
Since the early 1990s, multi-agent system researchers have developed a
large body of knowledge on the foundations and engineering principles
for designing and developing agent-based systems. The 12 past editions
of the agent-oriented software engineering workshop (AOSE) had a key
role in this endeavor. For 2012, the workshop organizers and the
steering committee propose to organize an edition of AOSE workshop aimed
at exploring the new emerging role of agent-oriented software
engineering as a bridge from the now consolidated agent oriented
programming languages and platforms, to recent systems modelling
paradigms like self-*, autonomic systems, and systems of systems (SoS).
Thus, it is our hope to explore from an agent-based perspective,
foundations, models, methods, architectures, and tools for
engineering future software-intensive IT eco-systems.
The workshop organizers plan to publish accepted papers on a USB stick
as part of the AAMAS workshop registration package.
Revised post-proceedings papers will later be published in
a volume of the Lecture Notes for Computer Science series.
GOALS and TOPICS
The general goal of this year workshop is twofold: The first goal is to
study the role of agent-oriented software engineering in the design
phase of agents development. It is well known and accepted that agents -
from the software engineering perspective - are of particular interest
as an analysis abstraction. This has been true for several years but the
most recent advancements in agent-oriented programming languages have
proposed new challenges: software engineers may now design and code
their solutions in terms of agents. The old need of moving to the
object-oriented level of abstraction is overpassed and the new
developing platforms allow for a more natural transformation of AO
analysis models into AO design models. This reality has been soon
perceived by researcher and practitioners. An example of this new trend
may be found in the refreshed interest about testing of agents.
The second goal concerns the other side of the proposed ideal bridge:
the needs of new design approaches specifically suited for facing the
needs of self-organizing systems, autonomic systems and systems of
systems. In the last years we have seen considerable research efforts on
these topics; however, only few of them have their scope and foundations
in the software engineering field.
Novel efforts are necessary to cope with these new challenges in order
to find specific solutions that could bring such systems from research
to industrialization. In this context, a means for bridging the above
mentioned research (and application) streams may come from the advances
on organizations, norms, and institutions. Are they mature enough for
being applied to stable agent-oriented languages and for contributing to
the engineering of self-organizing and autonomic systems? The proposed
aim is find an answer to this question or to propose further hints for
future investigations on the application of organizations, norms and
institutions to the design of agent-oriented systems.
Topics of regular papers include but are not restricted to:
* Agent-based concepts for systems of systems engineering
* Agent-based solutions for managing complexity in software engineering
* Agents and model-driven approaches
* Agents and services
* Agents for self-adaptive systems
* Alignment of agents with service-oriented software development
* Autonomy vs. dependability and robustness
* CASE tools to support agent-oriented software development in practice
* Coordination infrastructures for multi-agent systems
* Engineering multi-agent organizations
* Engineering self-organizing systems
* Goal-oriented design
* Implications of introducing agent-based solutions on the development
organization
* Integration of agents with legacy systems
* Middleware integration of agent-based software
* Multi-agent based simulation
* Programming agents and multi-agent systems
* Qualities and tradeoffs of agent-based architectures
* Reusable design knowledge: patterns and reference architectures
* Social engineering
* Software architectures for multi-agent systems
* Standardization efforts for multi-agent systems
* Testing of agent-based software
* Validation of agent technology in practice
* Verification of agent-based software
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
AOSE welcomes the submission of theoretical, experimental,
methodological as well as application papers with a clear research focus
on the topics outlined above. Each paper will be evaluated by three
members of the PC. Papers that present a valuable idea that needs
further development can be accepted as a short paper.
SUBMISSIONS
Papers should be between 8 and 12 pages, including the text, figures,
and references. The submissions must be formatted according to the
Springer Verlag LNCS style. PDF format is required. Papers can be
submitted via EasyChair 'AOSE2012',
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aose2012
The good receipt of your submission will be confirmed by email.
PUBLICATIONS
Pre-proceedings containing all accepted papers are provided
electronically on a USB stick as part of the AAMAS workshop registration
package. The plan is to publish revised versions of accepted papers in a
Lecture Notes in Computer Science volume. For this purpose, authors will
be given the opportunity to revise and re-submit their contributions
after the conference.
