Call for Chapters: Measuring Organizational Information Systems Success:
New Technologies and Practices
Editors:
Dr. Zakariya Belkhamza and Dr. Syed Azizi Wafa
Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia
Proposals Submission Deadline: January 15, 2011
Full Chapters Due: May 15, 2011
Submission Date: August 15, 2011
Introduction
Recently, research on measuring the success of information systems in
organizations has proliferated and has nearly become a standalone stream
within the information systems research field. This research stream is
considered one of the top ten issues of information systems management.
However, more research is needed to identify factors that contribute to
information systems effectiveness. To date, a number of information systems
success models have been introduced, such as the McLean and DeLone IS
Success model and Seddon’s Model. However, the scope and approach of these
IS success studies has created little consensus on the assessment of IS
success. New approaches may better identify, explain, and improve the
various measurements of these models.
Objectives of the Book
This book will establish and explore existing and emerging theories on
information systems success, present the latest empirical research findings
in the area of information systems success and measurement from an
organizational perspective, and explore new technologies and practices in
this area. The purpose of this book is to expand the knowledge and
understanding of information systems success and measurement for a better
and successful implementation in organizations.
Target Audience
The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and
researchers working in the field of information systems success and
measurement. Moreover, the book will also be a reference for researchers,
professionals and students in management information systems science and
related fields. The book will also be useful for practitioners, information
systems managers, CEOs, CIOs who are responsible for implementing various
information systems in their businesses and organizations.
Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Information systems success theories and models
· Information systems Success measurement
· Organizational issues with respect to information systems success and
measurement
· Information systems success and measurement implementation issues
· Case studies and practical application into information systems success
and measurement
· Empirical validation of information systems success models
· Critics and analysis on information systems success models
· Information systems success and managerial issues
· Methodological issues on information systems success.
Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before January
15, 2011, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and
concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will
be notified by January 30, 2011 about the status of their proposals and
sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters of 8,000-9,000 words are expected to
be submitted by May 15, 2011. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a
double-blind review basis.

concerns stemmed from a lack of recognition of IS as a
growing and important academic discipline. UKAIS was
established in 1994 to remedy this situation. It is a
charity, whose aims are to provide a better knowledge of IS
within the UK and to provide a forum for discussing issues
in IS teaching and research. Since this first meeting in
1993, UKAIS has recognised the importance of including
practitioners into its remit.
The UKAIS conference is the premiere academic event in the
Information Systems calendar within the UK and attracts
leading academics and researchers from the UK and overseas.

Call For Papers AOSE 2011
12th International Workshop on
Agent-Oriented Software Engineering
Held with AAMAS 2011, Taipei, Taiwan, May 2/3, 2011
http://distrinet.cs.kuleuven.be/events/aose/2011/
MOTIVATION
Since the early 1990s, multi-agent system researchers have developed
a large body of knowledge on the foundations and engineering principles
for designing and developing agent-based systems. The 11 past editions
of the agent-oriented software engineering workshop (AOSE) had a key
role in this endeavor. For 2011, the workshop organizers and the steering
committee plan to organize a special edition of AOSE. In particular,
we aim to wrap up the previous editions of the workshop with a discussion
of the the state of the art in the key areas of AOSE and based on that
outline the future of the field. This way, we aim to find a way out of
the increasing fragmentation and fuzziness on software engineering in AOSE.
The workshop program will be based on invited papers complemented with
accepted papers from the call for papers. Invited papers will be presented
by renowned researches and engineers in different areas of the field,
including agent-oriented methodologies, coordination infrastructures for
multi-agent systems, programming agents and multi-agent systems,
engineering multi-agent organizations, engineering self-organizing systems,
agents and services. Regular papers can focus on any aspect of
agent-oriented software engineering. However, we encourage authors to pay
particular attention on challenges for future research and the position
of their work in the broader field of agent oriented software engineering
and software engineering in general.
The workshop organizers plan to edit a special issue in a high-quality
journal with the invited papers and selected regular papers. Additionally,
we plan to publish accepted papers in a volume of the Lecture Notes for
Computer Science series.
GOALS and TOPICS
The general goal of this year's workshop is to to bring together leading
research and engineers in AOSE to consolidate the state of the art in the
field and discuss the future of the field. To that end, we will combine a
series of invited papers with a call for regular papers.
Topics of invited papers include:
* Agent-oriented methodologies
* Coordination infrastructures for multi-agent systems
* Programming agents and multi-agent systems
* Engineering multi-agent organizations
* Engineering self-organizing systems
* Agents and services
Invited papers will be written and presented by renowned researches and
engineers in the field. The idea is not to have papers focusing on the
authors their specific work, but to have papers with a vision that are
based on the key work in each area, and an outline of the challenges for
future research.
Topics of regular papers include but are not restricted to:
* Goal-oriented design
* Reusable design knowledge: patterns and reference architectures
* Qualities and tradeoffs of agent-based architectures
* Modeling and simulation in AOSE
* Agents and model-driven approaches
* Verification of agent-based software
* Middleware integration of agent-based software
* Integration of agents with legacy systems
* Testing of agent-based software
* Validation of agent technology in practice
* CASE tools to support agent-oriented software development in practice
* Implications of introducing agent-based solutions on the
development organization
* Standardization efforts for multi-agent systems
* Agent-based methods and solutions for managing complexity
* Alignment of agents with service-oriented software development
* Agents for self-adaptive systems
Authors of regular papers can focus on theoretical, experimental,
methodological, and practical aspects. In line with the general goal of
the workshop, we encourage authors to position their work in the broader
field of agent-oriented software engineering and software engineering in
general, and outline the challenges for future research.
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
AOSE welcomes the submission of theoretical, experimental, methodological
as well as application papers which focus on the topics outlined above.
Submitted papers will will be evaluated by three members of the PC. Papers
that present a valuable idea that needs further development can be accepted
as a short paper.
SUBMISSIONS
Papers should be between 8 and 12 pages, including the text, figures,
and references. The submissions must be formatted according to the Springer
Verlag LNCS style. PDF format is required.
Papers can be submitted via EasyChair 'AOSE 2011'
The good receipt of your submission will be confirmed by email.
PUBLICATIONS
The plan is to publish the invited and a selection of regular workshop
papers
in a special issue of a high-quality journal of the multi-agent system
community.
Acceped workshop papers are planned to be published in a Lecture Notes in
Computer Science volume.

Subject: [AISWorld] Call for Papers: CAiSE workshop IN2SP

Call for Papers
CAiSE Workshop 2011 INternet INformation Systems Pragmatics (IN2SP)
Relating to the 2010 conference theme "Information Systems in a diverse
world" IN2SP calls for papers that address the tension between universal
standards, interoperability requirements and ontology integration on the
one hand, and local particularities, contextualization and ontology
divergence on the other. The workshop encourages specifically explorative
papers that by dealing with new Internet challenges deepen our theoretical
knowledge on pragmatics.
Traditionally, the study of signs (semiotics) distinguishes three
components: syntax, semantics and pragmatics, where semantics deals with
the meaning of symbols and pragmatics with their context of usage. The
overall objective of the IN2SP workshop is to address upcoming IS research
challenges related to the Internet from a pragmatic perspective. New
challenges include but are not limited to the Internet of Services, Smart
Computing and Social Network Analysis. In the case of Internet of
Services, it has become clear that more attention should be given to the
business and legal aspects of service provisioning and service adaptation.
One of the challenges of Smart Computing is the transition from
message-driven information systems, using standards such as UN/CEFACT, to
event-driven systems built on myriads of sensors. More knowledge of Social
Networks and their dynamics is needed for understanding the social context
of communication.
Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Information systems in context. How to deal with context-sensitivity of
information and meaning, in particular in the light of global standards
and context-independent semantic web technologies.
- Pragmatics of the web: what do people do when they communicate via
Internet?
- Pragmatics of the Internet of Things and Smart Computing: are current
modeling approaches (at business level and process level) appropriate for
modeling ubiquitous computing applications? And how can a pragmatic
approach be of help?
- Pragmatics of the Internet of Services: how to model the pragmatics of
service use (including the economic/business aspect)?
- Pragmatics of the Social Web.

FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS
The 6th International Workshop on Vocabularies, Ontologies
and Rules for The Enterprise (VORTE 2011)
Co-located with the 15th IEEE International EDOC Conference
Helsinki, Finland, August 29-September 2, 2011
IMPORTANT DATES
Paper Submission: March 15th, 2011
Paper Notification: May 7th, 2011
Camera-Ready Copy Due: June 1st, 2011
Workshop: August
29th-September 2nd, 2011
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The VORTE series of workshops is devoted to the topics of
vocabularies, ontologies and rules in the context of
enterprise systems. The complexity of enterprise systems;
the increasing needs for advanced collaboration between
various systems within one institution or among many
collaborating parties; and the velocity of organizational,
policy, structural and market changes strongly call for
immediate mobilization of the research community to develop
more flexible and reliable technologies for the development
of enterprise systems. Trying to respond to this urgent
research need, the VORTE series of workshops has been
established in order to bring together researchers and
practitioners that are looking into the topics of ontologies
and rules in enterprise system development from different
yet complementary perspectives. The major objective is to
provide a research forum for exchanging ideas and results
covering the use of ontologies and rules in various stages
of the development lifecycle of enterprise systems. Examples
of topics covered by VORTE fundamental research
contributions include the ontological evaluation of
enterprise systems and their interoperability and the
investigation of the use of ontologies and rules in business
process modelling. Applied research contributions include
enhancing business rule engines and business process
management systems by ontologies and formal semantics for
rules. From the enterprise system development perspective
research topics are focused on relations of process
modelling and execution languages with business ontologies
and rules, and how business ontologies and rules used in
enterprise models are further propagated into technologies
(e.g., semantic web) and architectures (e.g.,
service-oriented architectures) that enable collaboration
between heterogeneous enterprise systems. The workshop also
welcomes experience reports and empirical studies that are
reporting on the use of ontologies and rules in the
enterprise system development lifecycle.
VORTE 2011 is the 6th workshop associated with the EDOC
conference series that intends to bring together researchers
and practitioners in areas such as philosophical ontology,
enterprise modelling, information systems, semantic web,
model-driven engineering, business rules, and business
process management. The goal of the workshop is to discuss
the role that (foundational and domain)
ontologies/vocabularies and business rules play in the
conceptual design and implementation of next generation
enterprise solutions.
SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
We invite two types of papers:
- short papers (4 pages) discussing controversial issues in
the field or describe interesting or thought-provoking ideas
that are not yet fully developed; and
- full papers (8-10 pages) describing more mature results
than short papers.
All submissions MUST conform to the two-column format of
IEEE Computer Society conference proceedings
(http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_forms.html)
and include the author's name, affiliation, and contact
details. Papers must be submitted as PDF files using
EasyChair at
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=vorte2011 .
Papers cannot have been previously submitted or published
elsewhere.
The papers accepted for the EDOC 2011 Workshops will be
published after the workshop with an ISBN in the IEEE Xplore
Digital Library. At least one of the authors for each
accepted paper must register for the main conference (there
will be no workshop-only registration at EDOC 2011) and
present their papers at the workshop. The registration needs
to be done via the EDOC 2011 website
(http://edoc2011.cs.helsinki.fi/edoc2011/).

AMCIS 2011 / August 4-7, 2011 / Detroit, MI, USA
Information Technology Services& Sourcing Track
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS:
Engineering and Management for IT-based Services Systems: a Systems Approach
Mini-Track.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
AIM
This mini-track pursues to advance our scientific knowledge (and on the
current limitations and conflicts) on the Foundations of Engineering and
Management for Service Systems under a Systems Approach.
CONTEXT
Service systems can be defined as ?? a value coproduction configuration of
people, technology, other internal and external service systems, and
shared information (such as language, processes, metrics, prices,
policies, and laws.? (Spohrer, 2008). Accordingly, a service can be
defined ?in general- as ?? the application of resources (including
competences, skills, and knowledge) to make changes that have value for
another (system)? (idem, 2008). In particular, it has been identified the
relevance of IT for engineering and management IT services systems
(Demirkan,& Goul, 2006; Rai& Sambamurthy, 2006; Beachboard et al. 2007;
Zhao et al. 2007). Additionally, because service systems are also systems,
their essential and shared attributes for general systems (Ackoff, 1971;
Gelman& Garcia, 1989; Mora et al. 2009) should be considered. A Systems
Approach research approach (Ackoff et al., 1962; Checkland, 2000) can be
defined as an answering and problem-solving system comprised of: (i)
systemic philosophical paradigms (P?s: an ontological, epistemological and
axiological stance on the world): (ii) systemic theoretical frameworks
(F?s: ideas-constructs, theories, and models); (iii) systemic
methodologies (M?s: methods, techniques, and instruments), and (iv)
situational areas identified as systems (A?s: natural, artificial or
social objects, artifacts and subjects under study). This mini-track calls
for
papers that contribute to improve our scientific knowledge on quasi-stable
and emergent research the Engineering and Management of IT-based Service
Systems (ITSS) (references are available upon request).
COVERAGE
? Process international standards and models for ITSS
? Formal and semi-formal conceptualizations (ontologies in several
formats) for ITSS
? Classification frameworks of ITSS by diverse discriminators
? Value models for ITSS
? Systems technical engineering methods for ITSS (a single methodology or
several specific methodologies; phases, activities, tasks, artifacts,
procedures, roles, metrics)
? Systems management engineering methods for ITSS (a single methodology or
several specific methodologies; phases, activities, tasks, artifacts,
procedures, roles, metrics)
? New IT required roles for ITSS
? Innovative applications of ITSS
