2009 IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2009)
===================================================================
http://conferences.computer.org/scc/2009
September 21-25, 2009, Banglore, India
Youtube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNlrnYkxx1o
Sponsored by IEEE Computer Society
Technical Committee on Services Computing (tab.computer.org/tcsc)
Services account for a major part of the world economy today, with the
services sector comprising of companies that provide a broad range of
services in industries like healthcare, education, and banking. Modern
services companies are significantly enabled by computing, and more
generally by Information Technology (IT), to increase their efficiency and
effectiveness. Services computing is a discipline that aims to study and
better understand the crucial role of computing and IT in the services
economy. It covers the science and technology needed to model, create,
operate, and manage business services. Since 2004, the International
Conference on Services Computing (SCC) has provided a platform for
practitioners to present the latest advances in services computing. Like
its predecessors, SCC 2009 will contribute to building the pillars of this
important discipline and shaping the future of Services Computing.
To deal with complexity and cost, firms are increasingly focusing on their
core competency and outsourcing other functions (e.g., IT infrastructure)
to specialized service providers, who are often organized as global
networks. This global nature of the modern services economy leads to many
opportunities and challenges, and enables new business models and
technology innovations to support those business models. SCC 2009 will
take a deeper look at this global nature of services, and focus on the
theme of Innovation in Globally Integrated Services. The major tracks
of the conference will focus on foundations, practices and applications,
and business aspects of service computing. Further topics of interest
under these tracks are provided below.
SCC 2009 is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on
Services Computing, and will be held from the 21st to the 25th of
September 2009 in Bangalore, India, the center of Indian software activity
with a variety of historical and natural attractions within striking
distance. SCC 2004 was held in Shanghai, China; SCC 2005 was co-located
with ICWS 2005 in Orlando, Florida, USA; SCC 2006 was co-located with ICWS
2006 in Chicago, Illinois, USA; SCC 2007 was co-located with ICWS 2007 in
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; and SCC 2008 was co-located with the 2008 IEEE
Congress on Services in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. The SCC Proceedings have
been included in the EI Compendex.
Authors are invited to submit original, UNPUBLISHED research papers that
are not being considered in another forum. By submitting a paper, authors
explicitly agree that at least one of them will register for the
conference and present the paper. Topics of interest include, but are NOT
limited to, the following:
1) Foundations of Services Computing
- Formal models for service computing
- Service specification, design and implementation

SCC 2009 will have research, industrial, work-in-progress and demo
sessions. The industrial track is the forum for high quality
presentations on innovative technology relevant to the above topics in
practice. We also encourage submissions on experiences with innovative
applications in industrial track. While submitting papers, authors are
requested to specifically identify their paper as belonging to industrial
or research track. Research track papers masquerading as industrial track
versions are heavily discouraged. The program committee reserves the
right to move a paper to research or industry track if it deems
appropriate. Please note that the same paper should not be submitted to
SCC 2009 and the 2009 International Conference of Web Services (ICWS 2008)
simultaneously. Such duplicate submissions will be rejected from both
conferences without review. Enhanced versions of selected papers
published in SCC 2009 will be invited for publication in the IEEE
Transactions of Services Computing (TSC), the International Journal of
Business Process Integration and Management (IJBPIM), the International
Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR), the International Journal of Grid

Review Policy:
"IEEE Policy and professional ethics requires that referees treat the
contents of papers under review as privileged information not to be
disclosed to others before publication. It is expected that no one with
access to a paper under review will make any inappropriate use of the
special knowledge, which that access provides. Contents of abstracts
submitted to conference program committees should be regarded as
privileged as well, and handled in the same manner. The Conference
Publications Chair shall ensure that referees adhere to this practice.
Organizers of IEEE conferences are expected to provide an appropriate
forum for the oral presentation and discussion of all accepted papers. An
author, in offering a paper for presentation at an IEEE conference, or
accepting an invitation to present a paper, is expected to be present at
the meeting to deliver the paper. In the event that circumstances unknown
at the time of submission of a paper preclude its presentation by an
author, the program chair should be informed on time, and appropriate
substitute arrangements should be made. In some cases it may help reduce
no-shows for the Conference to require advance registration together with
the submission of the final manuscript."

GOALS AND TOPICS OF INTEREST
****************************
Todays organizations face new challenges like globalization or shorter
innovation cycles which force them to break new grounds in order to stay
competitive. In this context the Networked Enterprise arises as new
paradigm for successful, innovative and progressive companies. Several
organizations already leverage this paradigm and try to counter actual
challenges by inter-enterprise virtual partnerships. Business processes
are rather organized as inter-company wide complex supply chains possibly
even created at runtime and incorporating the respective core competencies
of different partners acting in collaborations.
The area of the Networked Enterprise comprises a very broad spectrum of
organizational issues and technologies. This workshop focuses on new approaches
and technologies for the Networked Enterprise of the future. We seek papers
describing any novel aspect of the Networked Enterprise with a focus on
developing, using and adopting new technologies. Experiences in applying the
technologies to real situations and reports on current projects are especially
welcome.
Particularly, the workshop will include, but is not limited to
solutions and new approaches in the following areas:
* Architectures and protocols for collaborative computing
* Autonomic computing for the Networked Enterprise
* Collaborative models, technologies, applications
* Compliance and legal issues
* Computer supported collaborative work
* Context-aware collaboration infrastructure

Summary of the Workshop
Quality assurance is a growing research domain within the
Information Systems (IS) and Conceptual Modeling (CM)
disciplines. Ongoing research on quality in IS and CM is
highly diverse and encompasses theoretical aspects
including quality definition and quality models, and
practical/empirical aspects such as the development of
methods, approaches and tools for quality measurement and
improvement. Research can be general and conceptual in
nature or focus on specific application domains, such as
web application quality, data warehouse quality,
requirements model quality, model transformations quality,
etc.
The QoIS workshop we organize at ER 2009 intends to cover
all areas related to information systems quality: data
quality, information quality, system quality as well as
model, method, process, knowledge and environment quality.
The aim of the workshop is twofold. Firstly, to bring
together researchers and industry developers working on
various aspects of information systems quality, in order
to exchange research ideas and results and discuss about
them. Secondly, to promote research on information systems
and conceptual model quality to the broader conceptual
modeling research community attending ER 2009.
The workshop we propose continues a tradition of
quality-focused workshops at the ER conferences, that
started with the International Workshops on Conceptual
Modeling Quality (IWCMQ02 at ER 2002 Tampere, IWCMQ03 at
ER 2003 Chicago) and was picked up again by the
International Workshops on Quality of Information Systems
(QoIS05 at ER 2005 Klagenfurt, QoIS06 at ER 2006 Tucson,
QoIS07 at ER2007 Auckland). A material result of these
workshops was the Data & Knowledge Engineering special
issue on conceptual model quality in late 2005 (Vol 55, No
3).
Topics:
The workshop is not restricted to particular research
methods and we will consider both conceptual and empirical
research, as well as novel applications. Particular topics
of interest related to IS and CM quality include, but are
not limited to:
Quality constructs and models
Quality measures and instruments
Quality ontologies
Validation of quality models, measures and instruments
Methodological issues of research on IS and CM quality
Method and tool support for improving and monitoring
quality
Integration of quality assurance in model-driven
development
Quality of requirements engineering artifacts and
processes
Quality of models and meta-models
Quality of ontologies and reference models
Data and meta-data quality
Information and system quality
Quality of queries
Quality of conceptual modeling languages
Ontological analysis of conceptual modeling grammars
Pattern-based analysis of conceptual modeling grammars
Cost/benefit analysis of quality assurance processes
Quality assurance practices : case studies and
experiences
Quality with respect to specific types of modeling such
as data warehouse modeling, workflow modeling, business
process modeling, enterprise modeling, requirements
modeling, ontology modeling, domain modeling, navigation
modeling, user interface modeling, etc.
Quality with respect to specific types of applications
such as data warehouses, web based information systems,
ontology-driven systems, Semantic Web applications,
business applications, intra-enterprise systems,
inter-enterprise systems, etc.
Quality with respect to specific application domains
such as health sector, logistics, public sector, financial
sector, manufacturing, services, e-commerce, software,
etc.
Publication
Top quality workshop papers that can be extended will be
considered for publication by a fast track process in
ACM Journal on Data and Information Quality (JDIQ)
http://jdiq.acm.org/.

Call for Papers: 11th International Conference on Data Warehousing and
Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK 2009)
Linz, Austria. Aug. 31 to Sept. 4, 2009
http://www.dexa.org/dawak
Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery has been widely accepted as a key
technology for enterprises and organisations
to improve their abilities in data analysis, decision support, and the
automatic extraction of knowledge from data.
With the exponentially growing amount of information to be included in the
decision making process, the data to be
considered becomes more and more complex in both structure and semantics.
Consequently, the process of retrieval and
knowledge discovery from this huge amount of heterogeneous complex data
builds the litmus-test for the research in the area.
During the past years, the International Conference on Data Warehousing
and Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK) has become one
of the most important international scientific events to bring together
researchers, developers and practitioners to
discuss latest research issues and experiences in developing and deploying
data warehousing and knowledge discovery
systems, applications, and solutions. This years conference (DaWaK 2009),
builds on this tradition of facilitating
the cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas, experience and potential
research directions. DaWaK 2009 seeks to
introduce innovative principles, methods, algorithms and solutions to
challenging problems faced in the development of
data warehousing, knowledge discovery and data mining applications.
Submissions presenting current research
work on both theoretical and practical aspects of data warehousing and
knowledge discovery are encouraged.
Particularly, we strongly welcome submissions dealing with emerging real
world applications such as real-time
data warehousing, analysis of spatial and spatiotemporal data, OLAP
mining, mobile OLAP, and
mining science data (e.g. bioinformatics, geophysics)
Major Tracks

------------- CENTERIS2009 | Call for Papers
------------- Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems
------------- Ofir, Portugal, 07-09 October 2009
http://centeris.eiswatch.org
submission deadline (full paper): March 15, 2009
-------------
Dear Sirs,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the CENTERIS2009 - Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems aligning technology, organizations and people, to be held in Ofir, Portugal, organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
This is the place where, from 07 to 09 October 2009, under the leitmotiv of Enterprise Information Systems, academics, scientists, IT/IS professionals, managers and solution providers from all over the world will have the opportunity to share experiences, bring new ideas, debate issues, introduce the latest developments in the field.
CENTERIS2009 is an international conference that will address the largely multidisciplinary field embraced by the Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), from the social, organizational and technological perspectives.
The 3-day conference follows an innovative format, previewing scientific sessions, tutorial and technical sessions, and simultaneously exhibitions by solutions providers and product presentations.
There will also be a social program that will enable participants to get to know each other and informally exchange information, contacts and experiences, discuss projects, and incubate partnerships.
-------------
------------- Submission and Publications
Submissions will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
Only original contributions will be accepted.
All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings Book (full texts) with ISBN and on a CD-ROM to be distributed during the conference.
Authors of a selection of around 25 papers will be invited for enhancing and extending their papers for inclusion in a book to be published by IGI-Global, to be released by early 2010. Depending on the number of high quality papers accepted, the Organization can consider the edition of two books, instead of one.
According to the Scientific Committee recommendations, authors of selected papers will be invited to enhance the paper for publication in:
- A Special Issue of the Information Resources Management Journal (IRMJ);
- The International Journal of Enterprise Information Systems (IJEIS);
- Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research (JTAER);
- International Journal of Information Technologies and Systems Approach (IJITSA);
- The emerging Information and Communication Technologies for the Advanced Enterprise: an international journal (ICT'ae).
At the end of this message you will find the composition of the Editorial Board.
-------------
------------- Hotel and travel arrangements
The Conference will take place at AXIS OFIR Beach Resort Hotel in Ofir, Esposende, Portugal, a 4-star Hotel located in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the North of Portugal. The Atlantic coast of Esposende is part of the Natural Park of the North Coast, a protected area of great beauty.
Ofir is located in a wonderful historic and cultural region with three locations/zones proclaimed as UNESCO cultural World Heritage within 100 km: Historic Centre of Guimaraes (50Km), Historic Centre of Porto (40Km) and Alto Douro Wine Region.
The Hotel Axis Ofir is located 35 km north of the Oporto International Airport Francisco Sa Carneiro. It is connected by the highway A28. We suggest getting a taxi which cost would be around 35 Euros (one way), taking less than 30 min to the Hotel.
