Milan, Italy
Co-sponsored by: IFAC
In cooperation with AAAI

Best papers published in book by Springer-Verlag
**************************************************************
Dear Gustaf Neumann
ICINCO welcomes the submission of position papers, whose deadline is on March 25.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topics.
The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster". Please check further details about position papers submission at the conference web site (http://www.icinco.org/Submission_Guidelines.htm).
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, in paper and in CD-ROM support.
ICINCO 2009 proceedings will be indexed by Conference Proceedings Citation Index, INSPEC and DBLP. Furthermore, the best papers of the conference will be published in a Springer-Verlag book.
Don't hesitate contacting me should you have any questions.

Value creation in modern markets is increasingly carried out in
collaborative arrangements such as business networks, clusters and
alliances. Furthermore, work practices in organizations are undergoing
significant changes due to trends of virtualization and the emergence of
new
communication technologies. In many organizations projects have become the
prevalent way of working - people are often distributed across time,
space,
organizational, and cultural boundaries. At the same time organizations
are
increasingly dependent on the effective creation and sharing of knowledge
within these dispersed work settings.
Against this backdrop, e-Collaboration as a topic refers to all issues of
ICT-based collaboration within and between organizations. With the
emergence
of new often Internet-based communication and collaboration systems,
organizations today possess the technological capabilities to manage a
wide
range of dispersed value creation activities. However, while technology
vendors stress the new possibilities offered by their products for
managing
collaborations, the realities in distributed projects, virtual teams, and
inter-organizational networks quite often paint a different picture.
E-Collaboration is a complex, precarious, and too often rather ineffective
undertaking. To this end, we need a better understanding of the
challenges,
inhibitors, enablers, and contextual contingencies of successful
e-Collaboration initiatives. We also need to better understand the nature
and particularities of e-Collaboration technologies and the unique
requirements they pose in various social settings.
In doing so, we are especially interested in the usage of e-Collaboration
technologies in inter-organizational collaborations. For example, many
electronic marketplaces that started with the idea of supporting
electronic
trade transactions have come a long way and developed into platforms for
enabling various inter-organizational value creation activities. Many
inter-organizational platforms today are proffered with e-Collaboration
technologies for supporting people collaborating in joint projects and
processes. However, the particular challenges of these undertakings and
the
role of e-Collaboration technologies in such organizational settings is
not
well understood to date.
We are pleased to invite scholars from any methodological background to
contribute papers that advance our knowledge of the diffusion,
appropriation, usage, impact and role of e-Collaboration technologies, in
the context of distributed projects, virtual teams and various types of
inter-organizational networks. We welcome theoretical, conceptual,
design-oriented and especially empirical contributions using both
qualitative and quantitative research methods. Research efforts might
focus
on different organization levels such as teams, corporations, networks,
and
informal communities and on different e-Collaboration technologies.
Typical
e-Collaboration technologies reach from simple e-Mail, Instant Messaging,
and social software tools to more sophisticated Web Conferencing, Project
management, and integrated Unified Communications and Real-time
Communication solutions.
Papers in this focus theme section might address, but are not limited to
one
or more of the following areas:
E-Collaboration activities, processes and scenarios
- E-Collaboration in business networks and strategic alliances
- E-Collaboration in virtual organizations
- E-Collaboration in distributed software development teams
- E-Collaboration in field service scenarios (mobile work contexts)

- E-Collaboration in health care processes
- E-Collaboration in regional clusters
- E-Collaboration in open innovation initiatives and living labs
- E-Collaboration in the consultancy business

Overview:
--------
This special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing focuses
on transactional Web services.
Today's Web service-based applications require advanced transactional
models that guarantee the integrity
and continuity of business processes despite the dynamic nature that
characterize the environments that host
the execution of these processes. The development of such models has drawn
the attention of both academia and
industry communities. This special issue will shed light on the latest
advances in the fields of Web services
with focus on the transactional dimension.
This special issue seeks original research and industrial papers on
transactional models and approaches
in the context of business applications built upon Web services. The
Internet along with its related
technologies have created an interconnected world in which services can be
invoked anytime, anywhere,
which increases the importance of making these services reliable and
robust. For this purpose, Web services
must be looked into from a transactional perspective.
A variety of transactional models are created in the database community.
Some of them can be leveraged and
enhanced to support Web services while others are not suitable because of
the dynamic nature of Web services,
long-running execution scenarios, and successful execution despite
failure. New transactional models for
Web services are deemed appropriate. Papers describing advanced research
and experiences on transactional
Web services are solicited.
Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
- Transactional models for Web services
- Recovery mechanisms and Web services
- Transactional Web services standards and protocols
- Transactional Web services in mobile applications
- Fault-Tolerant mechanisms for transactional Web services
- Case studies on transactional Web services

SOA Industry Summit (SOAIS 2009) Submission Deadline is March 31, 2009.
http://conferences.computer.org/icws/2009/soa-industry-summit.html
*****Paper Submission Site:*****

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural style that seeks
to create a set of business-aligned IT services that collectively support
an organizations business processes and goals. As a cross discipline,
this alignment of business and IT addresses how to enable IT technology to
help people perform business services more efficiently and effectively.
This 4th industry summit on SOA, organized by IEEE, is intended to bridge
the gap between Services Computing and Business models that are supported
by them, with an emerging suite of ground-breaking technologies that
includes SOA, business process modeling, integration and management,
grid/utility/autonomic computing, enterprise service bus and Web 2.0. The
relative placement of these emerging technologies, standards and concepts
need to be clarified for the pragmatic needs of the industry.
THEME
The SOAIS event is focused on industry practitioners who work on
real-world systems, applying the SOA principles, standards, technologies,
tools, protocols, solutions and management. These practitioners had
exhibited the ability to combine multiple technologies, standards and
initiatives within the SOA world in order to create a viable and pragmatic
solution that has successfully been demonstrated to solve problems. In
addition to best practices or, in the case of an emerging discipline,
adequate practices that have proven successful are needed. In addition
warning examples of how not to apply projects are also welcome because
they provide a venue and context for avoiding common pitfalls in the
combination of SOA resources that are often confusing to practitioners in
the field.
In consideration of the value of the time of such practitioners in writing
a full-length paper, particularly for the people in the industry sectors,
SOAIS 2009 is proposing a new format for paper submission. In place of the
requirements of 8-page long research papers, we encourage the
professionals and practitioners in the industry sectors to submit a 2-page
abstract consisting of experience reports.
It is recommended that a presentation document is attached with the
abstract. Experience reports are expected to provide and describe new
insights gained in the context of case studies or the application of SOA
in practice.
These papers will be evaluated on their relevance and significance to
industries and the clarity of expression. All accepted papers will be
published in the conference proceedings, which will be included in the
IEEE digital library and Engineering Index (EI) database.
