CALL FOR PAPERS, SPONSORSHIPS, AND
SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ICONIP'02, SEAL'02, and FSKD'02 will be jointly held in Orchid Country
Club, Singapore from November 18 to 22, 2002. The conferences will
not only feature the most up-to-date research results in neural
information processing, evolutionary computation, fuzzy systems, and
knowledge discovery, but also promote cross-fertilization over these
exciting and yet closely-related areas. Registration to any one of the
conferences will entitle a participant to the technical sessions and
the proceedings of all three conferences, as well as the conference
banquet, buffet lunches, and tours to two of the major attractions in
Singapore, i.e., Night Safari and Sentosa Resort Island. Many well-
known researchers will present keynote speeches, panel discussions,
invited lectures, and tutorials.
About Singapore
---------------
Located at one of the most important crossroads of the world,
Singapore is truly a place where East and West come together. Here you
will find Chinese, Indian, and Malay communities living together,
their long established cultures forming a unique backdrop to a clean
and modern garden city. English is spoken everywhere and is the common
business language of all. Few places on earth promise such a delight
for the palate, with gourmet cuisine from over 30 countries. Exotic
resorts in neighboring countries are only a short bus/ferry ride away.
Orchid Country Club (OCC)
-------------------------
The venue for this year's conferences is at one of Singapore's
premier country clubs, a 25-minute bus ride from the city. Away from
the hustle and bustle of downtown Singapore, the tranquil setting of
the resort is ideal for serious technical discussions with an
accommodating space and ambience for relaxation. Not to miss out on
the splendor of downtown Singapore, the organizer has also secured
good quality and affordable accommodation in the heart of the city
with pre-arranged transport to/from the OCC. For golf enthusiasts,
OCC is equipped with the largest computerized driving range in South
East Asia and boasts of a 27-hole golf course with facilities for
night golfing, ideal for relaxation after each day of technical
discussions. Visit the OCC website at http://www.orchidclub.com
Night Safari and Sentosa Resort Island
--------------------------------------
It is said that a visit to Singapore is not complete without making
a trip to two of the Republic's famous attractions. The only one of
its kind in the world, the Night Safari provides a setting for
visitors to experience what it is like to observe animals in their
nocturnal habitat. The island of Sentosa offers some unique
attractions and a visit there will also provide a glimpse and
imagery of Singapore's past and present. Visits to these two
attractions will be included as recreation for the joint conference.
Subject: Workshop on Goal-Oriented Business Process Modeling: 2-nd CFP
Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 17:08:59 +0100
From: Ilia Bider <ilia(a)IBISSOFT.SE>
To: ISWORLD(a)LISTSERV.HEANET.IE
We apologize if you get this CFP more than once.
Workshop on Goal-Oriented Business Process Modeling (GBPM'02)
Toronto (Canada), May 27 or(and) 28, 2002
In memory of Dr. Maxim Khomyakov
A material for discussion of notion of goal has been added see:
http://www.ibissoft.se/gbpm02/goaldef.htm
Extended abstract:
This workshop is the third one in a series of international workshops on
business process modeling started at ECOOP'98, and continued at CAiSE*00.
The workshop is aimed at discussing issues connected to the goal-oriented
view on business processes. The most important topics suggested for
discussions: (a) representation of goals and movement to the goals (b)
goal-oriented business process patterns, (c) goal-oriented methods for
business process analysis and (re)engineering. The workshop does not focus
on any particular method or technology. All possible approaches (be it
object-oriented, agent-oriented, based on Petri nets, etc.) to exploitation
of goal-oriented view on business processes are very welcome.
The aim of the workshop is discussions, rather than presentations. A
position paper does not necessarily need to include the answers to the
problems of business process analysis, reengineering, or control. A
position paper that raises the relevant questions, describes successful or
unsuccessful practice, or experience will be welcome as well.
The results of discussions will be summarized in a working document that
will be produced after the workshop. A selection of the best papers will be
considered for publishing in a special issue of an international journal.
The intended audience is researchers and practitioners from the fields of
business development, and business application software development.
Important Dates
Deadline for submission: Mars 15th, 2002
Notification of acceptance: April 10th, 2002
Final version: May 5th, 2002
Days of workshop: May 27 or(and) 28th,2002
Subject: Final CFP, due March 1: WWW-2002 Semantic Web Workshop
Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 08:27:54 -0800 (PST)
From: Martin Frank <martinfrank(a)yahoo.com>
To: noy(a)smi.stanford.edu, sst(a)aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de
Call for Participation:
Semantic Web Workshop at the 2002 World-Wide Web
Conference
Hawaii, May 7, 2002
Invited Speakers
Rakesh Agrawal, IBM, USA
Mike Uschold, Boeing, USA
Important dates
Submission of papers: *** March 1st ***
Notification of acceptance: April 1st
Submission of camera-ready copy: April 15th
The term "Semantic Web" denotes the next evolutionary
step of the Web,
which establishes a layer of machine-understandable
data for automated
agents, sophisticated search engines, and information
integration and
interoperability services. The ultimate goal of the
Semantic Web is to
allow machines to share and use knowledge worldwide in
a scalable,
adaptable and extensible manner, without any central
authority and
just a few basic rules.
The Semantic Web workshop at WWW-2002 will complement
the Semantic Web
track at the main conference by providing a forum for
active
discussion on the current achievements, pitfalls, and
the future
research directions of the Semantic Web. Our goal is
to provide a
forum for fruitful discussion sessions rather than a
mini-conference. We solicit papers, but at the
workshop itself the
emphasis will be on sharing experiences with time for
all participants
to contribute. The workshop will be structured around
group
discussions designed to help us achieve greater
understanding of the
following issues: What are the recent successes in
Artificial
Intelligence, Databases, Information Integration, and
other Computer
Science fields that are relevant to the Semantic Web?
What are the
unique challenges of the Semantic Web that do not
allow us to apply
that research directly? How do we overcome these
challenges? What are
new areas of basic research that the Semantic Web
needs? What are
possible killer applications for the Semantic Web? How
can we achieve
the critical mass of ontologies, annotated data,
tools, and agents to
make the Semantic Web as ubiquitous as the regular Web
is today?
Besides the papers about up-to-date progress of
research, we solicit
reports from Semantic Web practitioners. We also
encourage submissions
from researchers in established areas of Computer
Science discussing
the possibilities and challenges of applying
traditional techniques to
the Semantic Web, with its de-centralization and
scale. Practitioners'
reports will give us the opportunity to discuss the
gap between the
current practices and the visions. The challenge
papers will help us
achieve a coherent picture of the Semantic Web to
come.
Relevant workshop topics include but are not limited
to:
* Language and Representation issues of the Semantic
Web
(e.g. RDF, OIL, DAML, Topic-Maps, RSS)
* Query languages for RDF
* Tools, systems and methodologies for engineering of,
storing of and
reasoning with RDF data
* Migrating existing information to be usable for RDF
applications
* Trust in the Semantic Web
* Information integration and Mediation on the Web
* Semantic Web applications
papers, and position statements. Research and
application papers
should not exceed 12 pages (including bibliography).
Position
statements should not exceed 3 pages and address some
of the questions
in this announcement. Indicate the type of paper in
large fonts on the
first page of your submission. We will accept only
electronic
submissions in PDF format. To submit the paper, send
