SIG ASYS cordially invites academics and practitioners from all over the
world to present original research and/or to organize a panel discussion in
the field of Accounting Information Systems (AIS). The workshop will focus
on a wide range of topics and research methods at the intersection of
accounting and information systems. The SIG ASYS Workshop will be held
before the start of ICIS 2021. The specific location will be announced once
it is assigned by ICIS. The day-long workshop will be followed by an
evening celebration and networking dinner at a local pub/restaurant at no
additional cost.

All submissions must represent original work that has not already been
published in a journal or conference proceedings (in complete form –
abstract publication is permissible). At least one author of the accepted
paper must register for the workshop and be prepared to present the paper
in person.
Submissions must be in the form of: a completed research paper, a
research-in-progress paper or a panel proposal. All completed research
papers and research-in-progress papers must be in English and be carefully
blinded. Submissions will be blind reviewed by at least two peers. Note
that accepted papers will not be published in workshop proceedings.
*Completed research papers *
Completed research papers should conform to the International Journal of
Accounting Information Systems (*IJAIS*) format, which is consistent with
American Accounting Association and other Elsevier accounting journals. For

*Research-in-progress papers *
Submission of promising research, in its early stage, should take the form
of a research-in-progress paper and be presented as an extended abstract.
This abstract should include the following sections: research objectives
and questions; theoretical foundations of the study; research methodology
being used; current status of the project, and a description of what the
authors propose to present at the workshop. Note that complete analysis of
results is *not required*. Research-in-progress papers should be limited to
approximately 4000 words.
*Panel proposals *
Panel proposals should be at least one-page in length and include: a
general description of the topic; details of all potential panelists
(including their name, affiliation, email, and a one paragraph bio); a
statement to the effect that if the panel proposal is accepted, all
panelists have made a commitment to serve on the panel; and a brief
description of each panelists background, expertise and views on the
proposed topic.
The workshop will be held as an all-day meeting on Saturday, December 11,
2021, just before the start of ICIS 2021. Participants should plan on
arriving the day before for an early start at the workshop. The customary
networking celebration dinner will take place after the workshop on
Wednesday evening. The workshop will have a single track to maximize
interaction and participation. Workshop participants, including presenters
and panelists, must pay the registration fee.

One best paper award will be announced at the workshop, and this paper,
after meeting the required revisions, will be published in the *IJAIS *at
the author’s prerogative.

to send their extended abstracts by Oct 24. The goal of this special issue
is to showcase exemplars from the “products of theorizing” approach that
focus on approximations of IS theory. This “products of theorizing”
perspective on theory celebrates the outputs of the “interim struggles”
(Weick, 1995) that characterize theory generation. It holds the promise
that interim conceptual artefacts of theorizing such as models, metaphors,
frameworks and concepts that belong to the discipline are valuable as they
can be leveraged and exploited further in subsequent research. In this
way, a discipline might inch its way towards native theories over time. We
are looking for articles that go beyond derivative theories and push the
envelope of theorizing towards native products of theorizing.
To ensure that submissions meet the goals of the special issue, authors are

DESCRIPTION
In the digital age, innovative technologies influence and change
established work processes, products, services, and business models by
connecting individuals, organizations, machines, and other 'things' in
new ways, as well as by enabling novel working, collaboration, and
automation models (Fitzgerald et al. 2014). To succeed in this highly
competitive and dynamic environment, organizations must unfold the
potential of advanced digital technologies in their business strategies,
transform their work routines, processes and structures, rethink their
business models, as well as manage and govern IT infrastructures that
are central to their value propositions (Legner et al. 2017). In short,
pervasive digitalization has increased the importance of information
technology (IT) and transformed the demands placed on organizations in
general, and IT functions in particular. Besides ensuring regular IT
operations, IT functions are increasingly required to proactively
identify technological innovations and to rapidly transfer them into
marketable solutions - and with that to directly contribute to their
organization's value proposition (Urbach et al. 2017).
In this context, IS strategizing and governance represent key activities
for the effective deployment of IT resources and ultimately for value
creation through IT. The emergence of new digital technologies (e.g.,
artificial intelligence [AI], big-data analytics, blockchain, cloud
computing) and infrastructures (e.g., digital platforms and ecosystems),
novel value-creation processes and work practices (e.g., IT
consumerization, human-robot collaboration, resource sharing) along with
the availability of unprecedented data volumes challenge existing
conceptualizations and theories related to IS strategy and governance
(Markus 2017; Newell & Marabelli 2015). For instance, while cloud
services may make the IT artefact seemingly disappear, the challenge of
governing the design and use of such services and associated IT
resources has become even more acute (Schneider & Sunyaev 2016). Digital
business models and gig economy platforms that revolve around resource
sharing and/or complex product-service offerings not only challenge
organizational boundaries, but also established ideas about ownership of
resources, tasks, and outputs (Schor 2014). Similarly, while AI-based
algorithms can automate business processes, they also highlight the need
for data and process governance (Tarafdar et al. 2017). At the same
time, in organizations where more 'traditional' technologies and work
arrangements are still dominant, IS strategy and governance challenges
remain highly complex and important (Wiener et al. 2016).
The objectives of the proposed track are two-fold. First, from a
scholarly research perspective, the objective is to foster and promote
novel concepts and theories on IS strategy and governance, with a
particular focus on the manifold opportunities and challenges associated
with the pervasive digitalization of business and society. Second, the
track aims at offering insights that enable IS practitioners to leverage
emerging digital technologies, to respond to digitalization challenges,
and ultimately, to make effective use of available IT resources.
The track is open to all types of contributions-including research in
progress-studying IS strategy and governance topics from different
stakeholder perspectives, in different contexts and settings (e.g.,
for-profits and non-profits), at different levels of analysis (e.g.,
individual, project, program, organizational, network, ecosystem, and
societal level), and with different theoretical perspectives and
methodological approaches (e.g., conceptual, design-oriented, and
empirical studies). We particularly welcome studies that address the
conference theme "Human Values Crisis in a Digitizing World" by
discussing and expanding our understanding of how digital technologies
(e.g., those used for control or governance purposes) and human values
influence each other and sometimes conflict, whether at the individual,
the organizational and/or the societal level.

The Special Interest Group on Geographic Information Systems (SIGGIS) of
the Association for Information Systems (AIS) invites theoretical and
empirical research papers focusing on, but not limited to, digital
innovation and its role for sustainability, particularly the role of
location, including the areas of renewable energy, green IT and green IS,
and case examples, especially as they relate to research areas in
Management Information Systems.
*Call for Papers*
GIS can play a key role in improving sustainability by collecting and
managing data and analyzing these data integrated (or overlaid) with other
types of data, such as demographic data. For example, GIS can improve
supply chain logistics and transportation management by identifying
eco-routes and eco-efficient supply chains. GIS can also serve as a common
platform that integrates people, processes, things, environments, and data
about them and, thereby, generate insights for sustainable development.
Spatial data comprise much of the data that organizations collect
(so-called big data). Thus, we posit that organizational adoption of
sustainability strategies necessitates models that incorporate location
data regarding environmental processes and impacts, location information
about causes and effects, and knowledge sharing about what works, what does
not, why, and where. We also postulate that sustainability requires
organizations to build up a common platform to collect, analyze, and share
geo-referenced data on the environment.
Manuscripts are solicited focusing on conceptual model, theory,
methodology, applications, behavioral studies, and case studies with regard
to emerging opportunities and challenges for the role of digital innovation
associated with GIS for sustainability. Manuscripts on a variety of topics
related to the broader realm of GIS applications in organizations and
government, e.g., renewable energy and green IT, and green IS, are welcome
in the following areas:

TYPES of SUBMISSIONS and DECISIONS
Four types of papers can be submitted:
Full paper: Finished or consolidated R&D works, to be included in one of
the Conference themes. These papers are assigned a 10-page limit.
Short paper: Ongoing works with relevant preliminary results, open to
discussion. These papers are assigned a 7-page limit.
Poster paper: Initial work with relevant ideas, open to discussion.
These papers are assigned to a 4-page limit.
Company paper: Companies' papers that show practical experience, R & D,
tools, etc., focused on some topics of the conference. These papers are
assigned to a 4-page limit.
Submitted papers must comply with the format of Advances in Intelligent
Systems and Computing Series (see Instructions for Authors at Springer
Website), be written in English, must not have been published before,
not be under review for any other conference or publication and not
include any information leading to the authors’ identification.
Therefore, the authors’ names, affiliations and bibliographic references
should not be included in the version for evaluation by the Program
Committee. This information should only be included in the camera-ready
version, saved in Word or Latex format and also in PDF format. These
files must be accompanied by the Consent to Publish form filled out, in
a ZIP file, and uploaded at the conference management system.
All papers will be subjected to a “double-blind review” by at least two
members of the Program Committee.
Based on Program Committee evaluation, a paper can be rejected or
accepted by the Conference Chairs. In the later case, it can be accepted
as the type originally submitted or as another type. Thus, full papers
can be accepted as short papers or poster papers only. Similarly, short
papers can be accepted as poster papers only.
Poster papers and Company papers are not published in the Conference
Proceedings, being only presented and discussed. The authors of accepted
poster papers should build and print a poster to be exhibited during the
Conference. This poster must follow an A1 or A2 vertical format. The
Conference includes Work Sessions where these posters are presented and
orally discussed, with a 7 minute limit per poster.
The authors of accepted Full papers will have 15 minutes to present
their work in a Conference Work Session; approximately 5 minutes of
discussion will follow each presentation. The authors of accepted Short
papers and Company papers will have 11 minutes to present their work in
a Conference Work Session; approximately 4 minutes of discussion will
follow each presentation.
PUBLICATION & INDEXING
To ensure that a full paper or short paper is published, poster paper or
company paper is presented, at least one of the authors must be fully
registered by the 8nd of January 2022, and the paper must comply with
the suggested layout and page-limit. Additionally, all recommended
changes must be addressed by the authors before they submit the
camera-ready version.
No more than one paper per registration will be published. An extra fee
must be paid for publication of additional papers, with a maximum of one
additional paper per registration. One registration permits only the
participation of one author in the conference.
Full and Short papers will be published in Proceedings by Springer, in a
book of the Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems series, will be
submitted for indexation by SCOPUS, WoS, Google Scholar, SCImago, among
others, and will be available in the SpringerLink Digital Library.
Poster and company papers will not be published, just presented in the
conference.
The authors of the best selected papers will be invited to extend them
for publication in international journals indexed by WoS/SCI, SCOPUS and
DBLP, among others, such as:
