Papers in this submission category should describe a novel contribution to the field and should carefully support claims of novelty with citations to the relevant literature. Evaluation Criteria: Technical papers are evaluated on the basis of originality, soundness, relevance, importance of contribution, strength of validation, quality of presentation and appropriate comparison to related work. Where a submission builds upon previous work of the author(s), the novelty of the new contribution must be described clearly with respect to the previous work. Technical papers need to discuss clearly how the results were validated (e.g., formal proofs, controlled experiments, rigorous case studies, or simulations). Authors are strongly encouraged to make the artifacts used for the evaluation publicly accessible, e.g., through a Github repository or an alternative that is likely to remain available. There will be an artifact evaluation process, as discussed below. 2. New Ideas and Vision Papers We solicit short papers that present new ideas and visions. Such papers may describe new, non-conventional model-driven engineering research positions or approaches that depart from standard practice. They can describe well-defined research ideas that are at an early stage of investigation. They could also provide new evidence that common wisdom should be challenged, present new unifying theories about existing modeling research that provides novel insight or that can lead to the development of new technologies or approaches, or apply modeling technology to radically new application areas. Evaluation Criteria: New ideas and vision papers will be assessed primarily on their level of originality and potential for impact on the field in terms of promoting innovative thinking. Hence, inadequacies in the state-of-the-art and the pertinence, correctness, and impact of the idea/vision must be described clearly, even though the new idea need not be fully worked out, and a fully detailed roadmap need not be presented. Authors are strongly encouraged to make the artifacts used for the evaluation publicly accessible, e.g., through a Github repository or an alternative that is likely to remain available. There will be an artifact evaluation process, as discussed below. ***** PRACTICE AND INNOVATION TRACK* The goal of the Practice and Innovation (P&I) Track is to fill the gap between foundational research in model-based engineering (MBE) and industrial needs. We invite authors from academia and/or industry to submit original contributions reporting on the development of innovative MBE solutions in industries, public sector, or open-source settings, as well as innovative application of MBE in such contexts. Examples include: ·Scalable and cost-effective methodologies and tools ·Industrial case studies with valuable lessons learned ·Experience reports providing novel insights Each paper should provide clear take-away value by describing the context of a problem of practical importance, and the application of MBE that leads to a solution. A non-exclusive list of topics of interest is provided here. Evaluation Criteria: A paper in the P&I Track will be evaluated mainly from its practical take-away and the potential impact of the findings. ASP was found to be closely related to SAT, which led to a new method of computing answer sets using SAT solvers and techniques adapted from SAT. This has been a much studied relationship, and is currently extended towards satisfiability modulo theories (SMT). The relationship of ASP to other computing paradigms, such as constraint satisfaction, quantified Boolean formulas (QBF), Constraint Logic Programming (CLP), first-order logic (FOL), and FO(ID) is also the subject of active research. Consequently, new methods of computing answer sets are being developed based on relationships to these formalisms. Furthermore, the practical applications of ASP also foster work on multi-paradigm problem-solving, and in particular language and solver integration. The most prominent examples in this area currently are the integration of ASP with description logics (in the realm of the Semantic Web) and constraint satisfaction (which recently led to the Constraint Answer Set Programming (CASP) research direction). A large body of general results regarding ASP is available and several efficient ASP solvers have been implemented. However, there are still significant challenges in applying ASP to real life applications, and more interest in relating ASP to other computing paradigms is emerging. This workshop will provide opportunities for researchers to identify these challenges and to exchange ideas for overcoming them. AIMS AND SCOPE Several successful logic programming languages, evidenced by the availability of a multitude of solvers, industrial applications, and an active research community, have been proposed in the literature. Researchers have long recognized the need for epistemic operators in these languages. This led to a flurry of research on this topic, and renewed interest in recent years. A central question is that of the definition of a rigorous and intuitive semantics for such epistemic operators, which is still subject of ongoing research. Notions of equivalence, structural properties, and the inter-relationships between logic programming languages and established logics are all subjects being actively investigated. Another important topic is that of practical solvers to compute answers to logic programs that contain epistemic operators. Several solvers are actively developed, building on established solvers, or using rewriting-based approaches. For practical applications, additional language features are actively explored in order to be able to apply epistemic extensions of logic programming langauges to practical problems. The goal of this workshop is to facilitate discussions regarding these topics and a productive exchange of ideas. Topics of interests include (but are not limited to): - Semantics of epistemic operators in logic programming - New methods for solving epistemic extensions of logic programs - Computational properties of epistemic extensions of logic programs - Relating epistemic extensions of logic programs with other logic-based formalisms - Practical applications of logic programming extended with epistemic extensions - Additional language features - Multi-paradigm problem solving involving epistemic extensions of logic programming - Evaluation and comparison of logic programs with epistemic extensions to other paradigms - Grounding of non-ground logic programs programs with epistemic extensions SUBMISSION GUIDELINES We welcome two categories of submissions: - Full Papers, that is, original, unpublished research (at most 15 pages), and - Extended Abstracts of already published research (at most 2 pages). The overall goal of the track is to showcase unique leading edge empirical, theoretical commentary that comprises what we call meta-research. A proper venue for reflexive work has been lacking within the structure of usual tracks at AMCIS. This kind of overview allows the discipline to assess and choose core premises. It is especially important because of the diversity of topic domains that fit into the overall IS scope, which is essentially multidisciplinary in terms of source foundations. The track provides a coherent framing for papers that might be rejected in other tracks for lack of fit, and a place for theoretically diverse and reflexive scholars to share perspectives. It also looks at the discipline as a scholarly culture. The meta-analysis also helps the body of evidence to determine the contextual factors and enhance our understanding of how and when they work. In specific schools of thought such as in philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, the concept of emergence implies that what has emerged is different from what it was that came together to produce the final form. Thus, what is seen as evidence of emergence is not its emergent properties but what the properties produced. Many studies that seek to address the nature of theory emergence tend towards ontological perspectives and importantly the contribution of Mill (2002). In discussions about the constitution of IS theories, one may be left with the question of how much to be gained from gnawing on the bones of existing theoretical constructs when the life of a theory is strongest at its inception and manifestation. DEXA will accept submissions of both short (up to 6 pages) and full papers (up to 12 pages). The submitted manuscript should closely reflect the final paper as it will appear in the Proceedings. DEXA reserves the right to accept papers only as short papers, in which papers describe interesting and innovative ideas which still require further technical development.
