*** Last Mile for Paper Submission ***
UMAP ’23: 31st ACM Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and
Personalization
June 26 - 29, 2023, St. Raphael Resort, Limassol, Cyprus
https://www.um.org/umap2023/
ACM UMAP is the premier international conference for researchers and
practitioners
working on systems that adapt to individual users or groups of users,
and that
collect, represent, and model user information. ACM UMAP is sponsored
by ACM SIGCHI and SIGWEB. User Modeling Inc., as the core Steering
Committee, oversees
the conference organization. The proceedings, published by ACM, will be
part of the
ACM Digital Library.
The theme of UMAP 2023 is "Personalization in Times of Crisis”.
Specifically, we welcome submissions that highlight the impact that
critical periods (such as the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing wars, and
climate change, to name a few) can have on
user modeling, personalization, and adaptation of (intelligent) systems;
the focus is on investigations that capture how these trying times may
have influenced user behavior and whether new models are required.
While we encourage submissions related to this theme, the scope of the
conference
is not limited to the theme only. As always, contributions from
academia, industry, and other organizations discussing open challenges
or novel research approaches
are expected to be supported by rigorous evidence appropriate to the
claims (e.g., user study, system evaluation, computational analysis).
IMPORTANT DATES
• Paper Abstracts: January 19, 2023 (mandatory)
• Full paper: January 26, 2023
• Notification: April 11, 2023
• Camera-ready: May 2, 2023
• Conference: June 26 - 29, 2023
Note: The submissions deadlines are at 11:59 pm AoE time (Anywhere on Earth)

social robots) to individual users. With the conversational modality so
in vogue across disciplines, this track welcomes work highlighting the
model and deployment of synthetic companions driven by conversational
search and recommendation paradigms.
Research Methods and Reproducibility
This track invites submissions on methodologies to evaluate personalized
systems, benchmarks, and measurement scales, with particular attention
to the reproducibility of results and techniques. Furthermore, the track
looks for submissions that report new insights from reproducing existing
works.
SUBMISSION AND REVIEW PROCESS
Submissions for any of the aforementioned tracks should have a maximum
length of *14 pages* (excluding references) in the ACM new single-column
format
(https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template). (Papers of any
length up
to 14 pages are encouraged; reviewers will comment on whether the size
is appropriate for the contribution.) The submission link is:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=umap23 .
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and
presented at the
conference. At least one author should register for the conference by
the early registration date cut-off.
UMAP uses a *double-blind* review process. Authors must omit their names
and affiliations from their submissions; they should also avoid obvious
identifying statements. For instance, citations to the authors' prior
work should be in the third person. Submissions not abiding by anonymity
requirements will be desk rejected.
UMAP has a *no dual submission* policy, which is why full paper
submissions should

Subject: [WI] CfP: Journal of Systems and Software - Special Issue on
Software Language Engineering
Date: Fri, 13 Jan 2023 13:33:12 +0100
From: Andrei Chis <chisvasileandrei(a)gmail.com>
Reply-To: Andrei Chis <chisvasileandrei(a)gmail.com>
To: wi(a)lists.kit.edu
Dear Colleagues,
We invite submissions for the Journal of Systems and Software Special
Issue on «Software Language Engineering». This special issue is
related to the 2022 edition of the Software Language Engineering
Conference (https://2022.splashcon.org/home/sle-2022?) but **it is
open to all authors.**
Details follow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Journal of Systems and Software
Software Language Engineering Special Issue
Guest Editors
● Lola Burgueño, University of Malaga, Spain
● Walter Cazzola, Professor, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy
● Dimitris Kolovos, Professor, University of York, United Kingdom
Special issue information:
With the ubiquity of computers, software has become the dominating
intellectual asset of our time. In turn, this software depends on
software languages, namely the languages it is written in, the
languages used to describe its environment, and the languages driving
its development process. Given that everything depends on software and
that software depends on software languages, it seems fair to say that
for many years to come, everything will depend on software languages.
Software language engineering (SLE) is the discipline of engineering
languages and their tools required for the creation of software. It
abstracts from the differences between programming languages, modeling
languages, and other software languages, and emphasizes the
engineering facet of the creation of such languages, that is, the
establishment of the scientific methods and practices that enable the
best results. While SLE is certainly driven by its meta-circular
character (software languages are engineered using software
languages), SLE is not self-satisfying: its scope extends to the
engineering of languages for all and everything.
This special issue will represent a further step in identification,
definition and tooling of software languages.
Topics of interest related to the special issue, but are not limited to:
● Software Language Design and Implementation
○ Approaches to and methods for language design
○ Static semantics (e.g. design rules, well-formedness constraints)
○ Techniques for specifying behavioral / executable semantics
○ Generative approaches (incl. code synthesis, compilation)
○ Meta-languages, meta-tools, language workbenches
● Software Language Validation
○ Verification and formal methods for languages
○ Testing techniques for languages
○ Simulation techniques for languages
● Software Language Integration and Composition
○ Coordination of heterogeneous languages and tools
○ Mappings between languages (incl. transformation languages)
○ Traceability between languages
○ Deployment of languages to different platforms
● Software Language Maintenance
○ Software language reuse
○ Language evolution
○ Language families and variability, language and software product lines
○ Domain-specific approaches for any aspects of SLE (design,
implementation, validation, maintenance)
● Empirical evaluation and experience reports of language engineering tools
○ User studies evaluating usability
○ Performance benchmarks
○ Industrial applications
● Synergies between Language Engineering and emerging/promising research
areas
○ AI and ML language engineering (e.g., ML compiler testing, code
classification)
○ Quantum language engineering (e.g., language design for quantum machines)
● Language engineering for physical systems (e.g., CPS, IoT, digital twins)
○ Socio-technical systems and language engineering (e.g., language
evolution to adapt to social requirements)
Manuscript submission information:
Proposed Dates and Outcomes
● Submission: 15 February 2023
● Notification to authors (first round): 15 April 2023
● Submission of revised papers (second round): 15 June 2023
● Notification to authors (second round): 15 August 2023
● Submission after second review: 15 October 2023
● Final acceptance: 15 November 2023
● Date of publication: 15 December 2023
Submission Guidelines
The call for this special issue is an open call. We invite innovative
research with a sound scientific or technological basis and
validation. We accept submissions of original and previously
unpublished manuscripts and we especially encourage the submission of
revised and extended papers from the 15th ACM SIGPLAN International
Conference on Software Language Engineering (SLE 2022). If a previous
version of the manuscript has been published in a conference or
journal, then authors must explicitly explain the novelty of this new
submission and provide at least 30% new material. Surveys, literature
reviews and mapping studies would not be considered as part of this
special issue.
All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted
through the Elsevier Editorial System at
https://www.editorialmanager.com/jssoftware/default1.aspx. Follow the
submission instructions given on this site. During the submission
process, select the article type "VSI:SLE" from the "Choose Article
Type" pull-down menu. All submissions must adhere to the general
principles of the Journal of Systems and Software articles.
Submissions have to be prepared according to the Guide for Authors,
available on the journal website, and must follow the format specified
in the JSS Guide for Authors
https://www.elsevier.com/journals/journal-of-systems-and-software/0164-1212….

AMCIS 2023
August 10 – 12, 2023 (Panama City, Panama)
https://amcis2023.aisconferences.org/track-descriptions/#toggle-id-20
Track: Information Security and Privacy
Mini-track: Information Security Education, Training, and Awareness
================================================================
Information security breaches are largely attributed to employee
non-compliance with organizational information security policies. For
this reason, information security practitioners and researchers alike
have recommended that organizations develop information security
education, training, and awareness (SETA) programs that provide
employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to act appropriately
in the face of information security threats. Organizations have
accordingly dedicated significant resources to the implementation and
dissemination of SETA programs.
In this regard, IS research can play an important role in identifying
the different theories and practices that may be effective in shaping
employees’ knowledge and compliance with organizational information
security policies. In this mini-track, we welcome all empirical,
theoretical, and conceptual works of any and all methodological
approaches that examine this topic.
Deadline for submissions is March 31. Please make your submissions using
the AMCIS 2023 PCS system (https://new.precisionconference.com/).

*Minitrack: Cloud Computing and Sustainability*
Green IS (SIGGREEN)
AMCIS 2023 (https://amcis2023.aisconferences.org)
Panama City, Panama, August 10-12, 2023
*Call for Papers*
Cloud computing has become one of the top priorities in corporate IT
investments, which ranges from Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) to
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to Business-Process-as-a-Service (BPaaS). The
cloud migration and cloud transformation have been further fueled by the
COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond operational benefits of cloud computing,
increasing attention has been paid to the role of cloud computing in
sustainable businesses. While prior studies in the Green IT/IS literature
have examined the sustainability implications of IT and IS, cloud computing
has transformed the way IT resources (both hardware and software) are
deployed and utilized in business organizations, calling for research on
cloud computing and sustainability to advance the literature on Green IT/IS.
This minitrack provides a forum for presenting and discussing original
research highlighting the opportunities and challenges toward
sustainability related to designing, deploying, and using cloud
computing. We
encourage submissions that address broad topics of Green IT and Green IS
from the perspectives of not only cloud service providers, but also cloud
service users and other stakeholders (across various levels including
individuals, organizations, and countries). In particular, we welcome
papers focusing on the role of cloud computing in tackling climate change,
including (i) mitigation (i.e., reducing emissions and enhancing
environmental efficiency) and (ii) adaptation (i.e., adjusting to the
current and future impacts of climate change). This minitrack welcomes
empirical (qualitative and quantitative) studies as well as design-oriented
research and conceptual/theoretical papers that leverage the multiple
perspectives of IS toward sustainability in the era of cloud computing.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Sustainability implications of outsourced IT and cloud computing
· Adoption and diffusion of cloud computing by organizations and
individuals to address sustainability concerns
· Use of cloud computing to support sustainable business processes
· Cloud-enabled sustainability strategies
· Cloud computing for climate change adaptation
· Design of cloud-based services and systems with implications for
sustainability
· Sustainability-aware cloud-native application design
· Cloud-based environmental/energy management systems
· Application of cloud computing for sustainability in different sectors,
such as smart grids, transportation, agriculture, smart manufacturing,
smart cities, and others
· Public policy related to cloud computing with implications for
sustainability
· Global and cross-border issues in cloud computing and sustainability
*Important Dates:*
· January 6, 2023: Submission Open at PCS (
https://new.precisionconference.com/submissions)
· March 1, 2023: Submission Deadline (10 am EST)
We look forward to receiving your best work for the minitrack of *Cloud

*ABSTRACT DEADLINE: 15th of February 2023*
========================================
= CALL FOR PAPERS =
In the last few years, a renewed interest of the research community in
conversational recommender systems (CRSs) is emerging. This is likely
due to the massive proliferation of Digital Assistants (DAs) such as
Amazon Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant, which are revolutionizing how
people interact with machines.
DAs allow users to execute various actions through interactions
primarily based on natural language utterances. However, although DAs
are able to complete tasks such as sending texts, making phone calls, or
playing songs, they remain at an early stage in terms of their
recommendation-offering capabilities using the conversational paradigm.
Very few studies investigated the theory behind conversational
recommendations in terms of strategies and algorithms, complexity
analysis, and so on.
Furthermore, since the recommendation becomes an incremental process
where the user refines her request at each step to reach the
recommendation goal, CRSs need to be powered with knowledge about the
domain of the recommended items. Knowledge can be represented in
different forms, such as structured information, unstructured one,
knowledge graphs, etc.
Finally, the evaluation of CRSs is a crucial and non-conventional step,
since it goes beyond the accuracy of results and moves in the direction
of providing novel and diverse results, generating explanations for
recommended items, reducing the user effort for reaching a liked item
(e.g., in terms of exchanged messages), and often requires designing a
user study.
= SPECIAL ISSUE TOPICS =
We are interested in contributions focusing on different new and
relevant aspects of conversational recommender systems, in particular,
new developments on the algorithmic and user interface level as well as
new applications, all accompanied by a corresponding evaluation (e.g.,
empirical study) that clearly shows significant improvements compared to
the state of the art.
The general topics regarded as relevant for the special issue on
Conversational Recommender Systems include but are not limited to:
Methodological aspects of a Conversational Recommender Systems (CRS)
Design and implementation methodologies
Dialogue management (end-to-end, dialogue-state-tracker
models, retrieval-based, hybrid)
Recommendation algorithms for CRS
Multi-objective recommendations for CRS
