Knowledge Management (KM) is a discipline concerned with the analysis
and technical support of practices used in an organization to identify,
create, represent, distribute and enable the adoption and leveraging of
good practices embedded in collaborative settings and, in particular, in
organizational processes. Effective knowledge management is an
increasingly important source of competitive advantage, and a key to the
success of contemporary organizations, bolstering the collective
expertise of its employees and partners. There are several perspectives
on KM, but all share the same core components, namely: People, Processes
and Technology. Some take a techno-centric focus, in order to enhance
knowledge integration and creation; some take an organizational focus,
in order to optimize organization design and workflows; some take an
ecological focus, where the important aspects are related to people
interaction, knowledge and environmental factors as a complex adaptive
system similar to a natural ecosystem. An information system (IS) is an
organized system for the collection, organization, storage and
communication of information.

Subject: [AISWorld] CFP HICSS-56: Knowledge Flows, Transfer, Sharing &
Exchange Minitrack
Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2022 16:43:43 +0000
From: Nissen, Mark (CIV) <MNissen(a)nps.edu>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
Call for Papers:
Knowledge Flows, Transfer, Sharing and Exchange
This minitrack examines the nature and role of knowledge flows across
people, organizations, places and times from technical, managerial,
behavioral, organizational and economic perspectives. As the nature of
knowledge flows changes due to digitalization, consumerization of
information technology (IT) and the integration of artificial agents
into daily routines, it is increasingly important to understand the
changes required in how knowledge workers conduct work, share knowledge
and information, and learn. Knowledge management (KM) activities in
organizations are no longer supported only by traditional information
and communications technologies (ICTs; e.g., databases, data warehouses,
information repositories, websites, email streams), but are also enabled
through new forms of ICTs including artificial intelligence (AI; e.g.,
agents, bots, learning algorithms), social software or Web 2.0
technologies and Internet of Things (IoT). The ubiquitous and pervasive
nature of these new form
s of ICTs are creating flexible KM sharing environments that need to be
researched more systematically.
This minitrack focuses on examining the nature and role of knowledge
flows (e.g., knowledge transfer, sharing and exchange) across people,
communities, networks and organizations, as well as across both space
and time. Technical, managerial, behavioral, organizational and economic
perspectives on knowledge flows will be accepted and presented in this
minitrack, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods are
welcome. Potential topics that this minitrack will address include:
* Technical, managerial, behavioral, organizational and economic
challenges and perspectives on knowledge flows
* The effects on knowledge flows of the consumerization of IT (CoIT);
Internet of things (IoT); social media, social computing, social
networks and communities, communities of practice (CoPs); information
and computer technologies (ICTs); knowledge reuse; organization and
economic incentive structures; artificial intelligence (AI), machine
learning and robotics; neuroscience, brain-computer interfaces,
artificial humans and other computer-based entities
* Knowledge system analysis, design, test, evaluation, implementation,
maintenance and redesign
* Harnessing, analyzing, visualizing and measuring knowledge flows for
creativity, innovation, competitive advantage
Manuscripts are due 15 June 2022. They must be submitted through the
HICSS website and conform to all length and fomatting requirements.
Experience suggests that accepted manuscripts will reflect high quality
and originality, but the minitrack also encourages authors to explore
new ideas and to gain constructive comments and suggestions through the
conference sessions.

The role of digital technologies in shaping the post pandemic world
The COVID-19 pandemic is arguably one of the most defining crises our
societies have experienced in the past 50 years, both in terms of the
global reach, but also its impact on numerous levels. In a very short time
SARS-CoV-2 has created havoc across continents, effectively halting social
and economic activities. In such unprecedented times individuals and
private and public organisations had to respond with unprecedented measures
that had a similarly unprecedented impact. The coronavirus scars will be
deeply felt for a long time. In such a context information and
communication technologies had a vital role to play. Social distancing
meant that online applications became critical in ensuring the continuity
of personal and business services. An online meme asking “who led the
digital transformation of your company” having COVID-19 as the chosen
answer perfectly captures the urgency with which existing digital services
were extended and new ones were rolled out, often in haste. IT managers had
to react quickly to a rapidly escalating crisis and come up with innovative
solutions to ensure business continuity. Although everyone is eager to
return to “normal”, the post-pandemic 'business as usual' is likely to be
different to that individuals and organisations were accustomed to before
the pandemic. Understanding the changes that have taken place and their
impact in the future is a pressing priority, if we are to thrive in such a
turbulent environment. To this end, the IFIP2022 Conference would welcome
submissions that aim to offer topical insights in areas of interest.
Such areas may include, but are not limited to:
- e-business
- e-commerce and retail
- e-marketing
- e-business models
- e-services engineering and management
- e-government and public services
- e-supply chain management and logistics
- e-business intelligence and decision support
- digital inclusion and diversity
- adoption, acceptance and diffusion of digital innovations
- digital transformation and governance
- digital entrepreneurship and value creation
- ICTs for social innovation and entrepreneurship
- research methods related to information system research
- Innovative Applications of IS in Teaching
- emerging opportunities and challenges related to topical developments
(e.g. big data, AI, fintech, IoT, VR/AR, e-health, remote working, social
media, HCI, ubiquitous and mobile information systems)
- The above suggested topics are not an exhaustive list and any other
topic related to e-business, e-services and e-society are welcome.
All methodological approaches (empirical, analytical, conceptual or mixed)
that create new insights and make a tangible contribution to theory and
practice will be well received.

Dear colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to our Minitrack “*Data Platforms
and Ecosystems in Healthcare*” as a part of the “*Information Technology
in Healthcare*” Track at HICSS 2023 (Maui, January 3-6, 2023).
*Minitrack: Data Platforms and Ecosystems in Healthcare*
The past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic have painstakingly
highlighted the demand for efficient healthcare systems in which
relevant health data are readily accessible wherever needed, whenever
needed. The amount of sensitive and personal health data collected every
day by a variety of mobile and medical devices (e.g., smartphones,
wearables, implants) fosters the emergence of large data repositories
and platforms at scale (Sunyaev et al., 2015). However, it is essential
to integrate and make this data accessible, such as through multisite
health data sharing, so that it can be used to inform and impact care
coordination, data-driven care research, and population health (Oborn &
Barrett, 2016; Scheibner et al., 2021). In this context, healthcare
systems frequently struggle to realize nation-wide information
infrastructures (cf. Aanestad & Jensen, 2011) and make data accessible
to those healthcare stakeholders who can act upon the knowledge
generated from it (Oborn & Barrett, 2016). Beyond technological
interoperability barriers, there are challenges on the individual,
organizational, and societal level (Witte et al., 2020), such as the
unwillingness to share health data openly due to fears of surveillance
or misuse by third parties (Thiebes et al., 2017). In this context, it
is critical to design health data sharing in a way that simultaneously
preserves individual privacy and data utility (Scheibner et al., 2021),
and to quickly find appropriate policies to do so while leveraging the
benefits of digitization (Anderson & Agarwal, 2011).
This minitrack invites papers on the emergence, design, and evolution of
health data ecosystems, generally defined as multi-stakeholder networks
that enable value creation via platforms allowing various types of
health data to be stored, shared, and reused (Oliveira et al., 2019) in
a secure, privacy-preserving, and FAIR manner (Wilkinson et al., 2016).
We welcome qualitative and quantitative contributions that shed light on
the critical role of data and individual privacy preservation in and
through healthcare platforms and ecosystems. In this context, we
specifically encourage submissions that strongly emphasize practical
applicability within the healthcare environment.
*Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: *
* Data sharing and data donation in healthcare
* (Open) health data repositories
* Health data spaces and initiatives for data lofts, communities, and
collectives
* Data-driven value creation in healthcare ecosystems
* Cases on the emergence, design, and evolution of (open) data
platforms in healthcare
* Design principles for privacy-preserving data platforms in healthcare
* Use of health data platforms for data-driven care research and
artificial intelligence
-Openness and governance of biomedical data
*Submission:*

Call for Submissions for the Minitrack "Data Platforms and Ecosystems in
Healthcare" as a part of the "Information Technology in Healthcare"
Track at HICSS 2023 (Maui, January 3-6, 2023).
Minitrack: Data Platforms and Ecosystems in Healthcare
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Data sharing and data donation in healthcare
* (Open) health data repositories
* Health data spaces and initiatives for data lofts, communities, and
collectives
* Data-driven value creation in healthcare ecosystems
* Cases on the emergence, design, and evolution of (open) data platforms
in healthcare
* Design principles for privacy-preserving data platforms in healthcare
* Use of health data platforms for data-driven care research and
artificial intelligence
- Openness and governance of biomedical data
Submission:
Deadline for submission is June 15, 2022.

*Theme*
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) refer to the three central
factors in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an
investment in a corporate entity (Friede et al. 2015; Ketter et al.
2020; Van Duuren et al. 2016; Vo et al. 2019).[i] The ESG perspective
emphasizes social objectives beyond the traditional financial objectives
of the companies and has a great impact not just in production but more
importantly on supply chain, resources allocation, marketing channels,
and customer networking within and across global markets (Drempetic et
al. 2020). The three-factor ESG has been considered salient in the
entire society, including policymakers and social activists, but has
become particularly critical in the area of investment (Al-Shaer and
Zaman 2019; Benlemlih et al. 2018). ESG metrics have been derived from
reports and news articles, evaluating the company in different
sustainability and social impact aspects (Benlemlih et al. 2018;
Drempetic et al. 2020; Friede et al. 2015; Van Duuren et al. 2016).
Yet there is a lack of research for the impact of ESG around real-world
marketplaces, where companies transact and interact with consumers and
other stakeholders. More specifically, online marketplaces' ESG
activities are becoming more prominent, as we could see the rapid growth
of successful online marketplaces across the world (Keating et al. 2009;
Liao et al. 2010; Schmitz and Latzer 2002). While the call to explore
and examine the sustainability topic has been recently articulated in
related information systems (IS) domains (Ketter et al. 2020; Pan et al.
2021), relevant academic contributions in the online marketplace domain
are still dismal. After an initial special issue on sustainability in
Electronic Markets (Jabłoński et al. 2020), the purpose of this special
issue is to initiate and grow a research stream to examine the key
aspects of online marketplaces from the perspective of ESG in different
sectors, e.g., commerce, service, tourism, entertainment, and open
avenues for future research and managerial implications. The special
issue also seeks to analyze the importance of each ESG factor in the
online marketplaces. Both theoretical and empirical papers are
encouraged to contribute to the special issue.
*Central issues and topics*
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
* Interactions between ESG, sustainable development, and online
marketplaces;
* Measurements of ESG in online marketplaces on firm-, industry-
and/or macro-level;
* Impact of ESG and sustainability on online marketplaces and their
stakeholders such as government, employees, customers, communities,
and suppliers;
* ESG cost and performance evaluation on online marketplaces' decisions;
* Consequences of good or bad ESG practices and communications by
online marketplaces;
* ESG and sustainability indicators for SMEs and startups in online
marketplaces; ESG and sustainability challenges of emerging online
platforms in media and entertainment sectors;
* Business models for online marketplaces and ESG choices and
sustainable growth;
* Linkages between macro-level, industry-level, and firm-level factors
on sustainable growth and environmental considerations in online
marketplaces;
* Responsible and sustainable investment in online marketplaces.
*Submission*
All manuscript submissions will go through an initial round of screening
by the special issue editorial board to ensure that they fit the
objectives of the special issue and Electronic Markets and can be
reasonably improved during the time frame of the special issue. The
authors should follow the authors' guideline of Electronic Markets for
formatting their manuscripts. Manuscripts that pass the initial
screening will go through the review process. It is expected that a
manuscript will go through a maximum of three rounds of revision and
will be published online first once accepted for publication.
Electronic Markets is a Social Science Citation Index (SSCI)-listed
journal (IF 4.765 in 2020) in the area of information systems and
supports methodological and theoretical pluralism, i.e., empirical or
theoretical work, qualitative research, and design science are all
welcome by the journal.

[i] The concept of sustainability or sustainable development is usually
traced back to the report "Our Common Future Produced" by a United
Nations (UN) commission in 1987. Sustainability in the context of
business and economics is often aligned with the 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), presented by the UN in the document
"Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."
