While there are many practitioners who have prophesized the sharingeconomy as a game-changer for how organizations and society function, there are also a number of detractors who questioned the uncertain and potentially disruptive future that is brought about by such peer-to-peer exchanges. Critics have painted a dismal picture of the sharing economy as a means for individuals and/or firms to dodge proper regulations and live beyond their means, which in turn contributes to doomsday scenarios of massive job displacements and spending habits detrimental to society. In light of the opportunities and challenges posed by the sharing economy, there is a clear urgency for a systematic and thorough scrutiny of how value creation and appropriation can take place within such economic environments while minimizing its negative impact to society. The aim of this minitrack is to sensitize both academics and practitioners to the latest trends and developments in the sharingeconomy in order to determine how value can be created and appropriated within this novel economic environment powered primarily by technology. This minitrackembraces both retrospective and progressive views of how the sharingeconomy has evolved and would transform with technological advances. We welcome papers that identify and address knowledge gaps in how emergent technologies are shaping the access and sharing of resources within online peer-to-peer communities. Papers that subscribe to inter-disciplinary perspectives and/or adopt mixed methods are particularly welcome. In this way, social information systems emerge. Furthermore, the workshop investigates the human aspects introduced into Business Process Management by involving human users. Examples are the use of crowdsourced knowledge and tasks, the need for new user interfaces, e.g. augmented reality and voice bots Social information systems 1 and social software 2 are spreading quickly in society, organizations and economics. They enable social business3 that has created a multitude of success stories. More and more enterprises use social information systems and social software to improve their business processes and create new business models. They are used both in internal and external business processes. Using social information systems and social software, the communication with the customer is increasingly bi-directional. E.g. companies integrate customers into product development to capture ideas for new products and features. Social information systems and software also create new possibilities to enhance internal business processes by improving the exchange of knowledge and information, to speed up decisions, etc. Social information systems and social software are based on four paradigms: weak ties, social production, egalitarianism and mutual service provisioning. * Weak ties Weak-ties 4 are spontaneously established contacts between individuals that create new views and allow combining competencies. Social information systems and social software support the creation of weak ties by supporting to create contacts in impulse between non-predetermined individuals. * Social Production Social Production 5 is the creation of artefacts, by combining the input from independent contributors without predetermining the way to do this. By this means, it is possible to integrate new and innovative contributions not identified or planned. Reputation based mechanisms assure quality following an a-posteriori approach. * Egalitarianism Egalitarianism is the attitude of handling individuals equally. Social information systems and social software highly rely on egalitarianism and therefore strives for giving all participants the same rights to contribute. This is done with the intention to encourage a maximum of contributors and to get the best solution fusioning a high number of contributions, thus enabling the wisdom of the crowds 6 7. Social information systems and social software realize egalitarianism by abolishing hierarchical structures, merging the roles of contributors and consumers and introducing a culture of trust. * Mutual Service Provisioning Social information systems and social software overcome the separation of the service provider and consumer by introducing the idea, that service provisioning is a mutual process of service exchange. Thus both service provider and consumer (or better prosumer) provide services to one another in order co-create value 8. This mutual service provisioning contrasts to the idea of industrial service provisioning, where services are produced in separation from the customer to achieve scaling effects. Up to recent years, the interaction of social information systems and social software and its underlying paradigms with business processes have not been investigated in depth. Therefore, the objective of the workshop is to explore how social information systems and social software interact with business process management, how business process management has to change to comply with weak ties, social production, egalitarianism and mutual service, and how business processes may profit from these principles. The workshop will discuss three topics. Social Business Process Management, Social Business and Big Data in Social Business. Social Business Process Management is the use of social software to support one or multiple phases of the business process life cycle. 1. Social Business Process Management (SBPM) - Payoff of social software in the BPM lifecycle (Design, Deployment, Operation, and Evaluation)? - BPM methods and paradigms to cope with social software - Influence of weak ties, social production, egalitarianism and mutual service provisioning on BPM methods - Trust and reputation in business processes management carried through social software - Influence of weak ties, social production, egalitarianism and mutual service provisioning in the design and management of business processes? - Integration of social software with WFMS or other business process support systems? - Conceptual modeling for knowledge intensive and social business processes? 2. Social Business: Social software supporting business processes - New opportunities offered by social software for the support of business processes - Sociality requirements of business processes according to their nature (predictable/non predictable; production/collaborative/ad hoc) - Use of Wikis, Blogs etc. to support business processes - Fitting between types of social software and phases of the BPM lifecycle - New trends in business knowledge modelling leveraged by social production 3. Human Aspects of Business Process Management - Concepts, technologies, and services to support individuals acting in business processes - Human aspects of business process management - Human-centric business processes - Human resource management in business processes (workloads, skills, preferences, affinities, context, mobility, etc …) Goal Based on the ten previous successful BPMS2 workshops since 2008, the goal of the BPMS2’19 workshop is to promote the integration of business process management with social information systems and social software and to enlarge the community pursuing the theme. Workshop paper format Position papers of up to 2500 words are sought. Position papers that raise relevant questions, or describe successful or unsuccessful practice, or describe experience will all be welcome. Position papers will be assigned a 20-minute presentation. Short papers of up to 1000 words can also be submitted, and will be assigned a 10-minute presentation. Submission Prospective authors are invited to submit papers for presentation in any of the areas listed above. Only papers in English will be accepted. The length of full papers must not exceed 12 pages (There is no possibility to buy additional pages). Position papers and tool reports should be no longer than 6 pages. Papers should be submitted in the new LNBIP format (http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-487211-0). Papers have to present original research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere. The title page must contain a short abstract, a classification of the topics covered, preferably using the list of topics above, and an indication of the submission category (regular paper/position paper/tool report). Overview: This PDW (professional development workshop) session engages the workshop attendees to debate and get feedback on their research related to unpacking the essence and peculiarities of digital practices. In particular, the PDW is aimed at examining how the organizing logics in a digital age requires new theoretical viewpoints as well as expositions on how prior theories and assumptions may be used to unpack digital practices. Attention to digital practices is pertinent as digital is gradually becoming a sticker concept. In recent years, we have seen a growing trend in which the term digital is affixed to well-known management and IT concepts (Yoo et al. 2010; Bharadwaj et al. 2013; Baiyere et al. 2017; Tumbas et al. 2018; Hinings et al. 2018). One may be wary and skeptical about the ongoing digital relabeling considering there has been similar patterns with the rise and decline of trends such as mobile "x", "e-everything", to mention a few. Yet, there seem to be a sentiment i n the community that digital is not necessarily another buzzword, but the emergence of a fundamental shift. A shift that may hold profound implications for extant management practices and assumptions. Evidence of this can be deduced in the growing use of the digital labels across several divisions and beyond management disciplines. But, going beyond mere labels, scholars have shown how digital organizing is an ongoing process (see for instance Garud, Jain & Tuertscher, 2008). To address these issues, this PDW is organized to attract scholars with interests in exploring, debating or unpacking the value, necessity and positioning of the digital notion within management scholarship. Specifically, we aim to engage in unpacking digital practices that we conceptualize as the logics of organizing in a digital age. Format of the PDW: Participants are encouraged to submit extended abstracts of research papers or ideas they are working on that is related to the digital theme of the workshop. The idea is that this are abstracts the participants would like to discuss and receive constructive feedback on. Submitted abstracts would be carefully read and grouped into related themes. These groups will be paired with at least one of the listed renowned scholars who would have already read the abstracts. These papers are then discussed in roundtables along with other participants who would have received copies of the abstract prior to the workshop. Concluding reflections addressing the key question of the nature of digital practices as reflected in the papers are then presented in panel and open discussion format. In the second article, Simon Chanias, Michael Myers and Thomas Hess report insights from an in depth, interpretive case study, concluding that digital transformation strategy (DTS) is a highly dynamic process involving iteration between learning and doing. They theorize an integrated process/activity model that characterizes DTS formulation and implementation in pre-digital organizations. In the third article, France Belanger and Robert Crossler seek insight into a concern most of us have with the consequences of our 'digital traces', emphasizing mobile device usage in work settings. Their findings provide insights into factors that can be targeted to enhance individuals' protective actions. The fourth article, is by Wenyu Du, Shan Pan, Dorothy Leidner and Wenchi Ying. Recognising a dearth of guidance on blockchain implementation, the authors conducted a case study of a successful blockchain implementation, wherein they identify affordances of blockchain in the organization and a process model whereby these affordances are actualized. Their study claims theoretical contributions while promising assistance to practitioners with implementing blockchain effectively and extracting value from their investment. The fifth article, by Mohammad S. Jalali, Michael Siegel, and Stuart Madnick, employs a novel simulation game approach to study the effectiveness of decision-makers in relation to cybersecurity. Their comparison of experienced and inexperienced cohorts highlights the importance of training for decision-makers with a focus on systems thinking skills. Different from conventional approaches, they allow for an arbitrary number of classification levels and introduce other concepts that foster expressiveness, reuse and adaptability. A key aspect of the multi-level modeling paradigm is the use of entities that are simultaneously types and instances, a feature which has consequences for conceptual modeling, language engineering and for the development of model-based software systems. The objectives of the MULTI series is to provide a forum for the multi-level modelling community to address the foundations of multi-level modelling approaches and support future multi-level modelers through better DSMLs, tools, methods and guidelines.
