Date: 13 November 2018
Venue: Nancy, France
Twitter Hashtag: #ekaw2018DC
Website: https://project.inria.fr/ekaw2018/call-for-doctoral-consortium/
# IMPORTANT DATES
- Abstract deadline : 7 September, 23:59 Hawaii Time (sharp)
- Paper deadline : 14 September, 23:59 Hawaii Time (sharp)
- Notification : 5 October, 23:59 Hawaii Time (sharp)
The EKAW 2018 Doctoral Consortium is an opportunity for PhD students in
Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management to discuss and obtain
feedback on their ongoing work, plans and research directions with/from
experienced researchers in the field. The objective is to share best
practices of research methods and approaches, as well as to exchange on
what it means to engage in an academic career on the topics relevant to
the EKAW conference.
All papers submitted to the EKAW 2018 Doctoral Consortium will be
reviewed by three experienced researchers. In addition, the authors of
accepted papers will be asked to review one of the other Doctoral
Consortium papers. The objective is to make students experience the
reviewing process and to provide for each paper different views
regarding the research they describe.
Submissions will be divided into two different categories depending on
the PhD phase:
- Early Stage PhD: Students who may have identified the main research
problem they want to address as well as the relevant literature, and who
are building their research methodology, but who might not yet have
obtained significant results, or only preliminary ones.
- Late Stage PhD: Students who have already defined their approach (even
if incompletely) and obtained significant results (e.g., that might have
been published already).
These categories do not affect the chances of being selected. They will,
however, be taken into account by the reviewers in their feedback, and
in the length and format of the presentation. The organisers might
decide to move a submission from one category to the other, if they
think it is justified.
Submission guidelines
All submissions must be single-author submissions. Please acknowledge
your PhD advisor(s) and other contributors in the Acknowledgements
section. Submissions should clearly indicate the category of the
submission (Early Stage PhD or Late Stage PhD) and should be structured
around the following items which are the key methodological components
required for a sound research narrative:
1. Problem: describe the core problem that you work on, motivate its
relevance for the knowledge management, knowledge acquisition and
knowledge representation areas, and formulate the research question(s)
and/or hypotheses that you will answer;
2. State of the art: describe relevant related work and point out areas
that need to be improved or investigated;
3. Proposed Approach: present the approach taken and motivate how this
is novel with respect to existing work;
4. Methodology: sketch the methodology that is (or will be) adopted,
including the evaluation protocol, i.e. the way in which the results
will be validated and/or the hypotheses will be tested.
5. Results: describe the current status of the work and any results that
have been reached so far;
6. Discussion: reflect on why you think your approach will work (or
not), difficulties you have run into, and recommendations for future work.

researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals
from all over the world to present their research results and
development activities in using models and model driven engineering
techniques for Software Development. Model-Driven Development (MDD) is
an approach to the development of IT systems in which models take a
central role, not only for analysis of these systems but also for their
construction. MDD has emerged from modelling initiatives, most
prominently the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) fostered by the Object
Management Group (OMG). In the scope of MDA, a couple of technologies
have been developed that became the cornerstones of MDD, like
metamodelling and model transformations. MDD relies on languages for
defining metamodels, like the Meta-Object Facility (MOF) and Ecore
(developed in the scope of the Eclipse Modelling Framework), and
transformation specification languages like QVT and ATL.

proceedings will be submitted to EI Compendex, Scopus, and ISTP (ISI
Proceedings), as well as IEEE Xplore (all previous ICNC-FSKD conferences
from 2005 to 2016 have been indexed in Ei Compendex). *Extended versions
of selected best papers will appear in SCIE-indexed international
journals, including Theoretical Computer Science - Part C: Nature
Computing, Neural Computing and Applications, International Journal of
Fuzzy Systems, and Journal of Supercomputing.* ICNC-FSKD 2018 is
technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (pending).
ICNC-FSKD is a premier international forum for scientists and
researchers to present the state of the art of data mining and
intelligent methods inspired from nature, particularly biological,
linguistic, and physical systems, with applications to computers,
circuits, systems, control, robotics, communications, and more. This is
an exciting and emerging interdisciplinary area in which a wide range of
theory and methodologies are being investigated and developed to tackle
complex and challenging problems. The registration fee of US-D490
includes proceedings, lunches, dinners, banquet, coffee breaks, and all
technical sessions.
To promote international participation of researchers from outside the
country/region where the conference is held (i.e., China’s mainland),
researchers outside of China’s mainland are encouraged to propose
invited sessions. An honorarium of US-D400 will be enjoyed by the
organizer(s) for each completed (with at least 6 registered papers)
invited session. The first author of each paper in an invited session
must not be affiliated with an organization in China’s mainland.
"(Invited Paper)" may be added below the title of each paper in the
invited sessions. Invited session organizers will solicit submissions,
conduct reviews and recommend accept/reject decisions on the submitted
papers. Invited session organizers will be able to set their own
submission and review schedules, as long as a set of recommended papers
is determined by 3 June 2018. Each invited session proposal should
include: (1) the name, bio, and contact information of each organizer of
the invited session; (2) the title and a short synopsis of the invited
session. Please send your proposal to icnc-fskd2018(a)ahu.edu.cn

Subject: [wkwi] 2nd CfP Wirtschaftsinformatik 2019
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2018 18:58:18 +0200 (CEST)
From: Pipek, Volkmar, Prof. Dr. <volkmar.pipek(a)uni-siegen.de>

Call for Papers "Wirtschaftsinformatik 2019"
http://wi2019.org/

Introduction
-----------------
Enormous amounts of data are already present and still rapidly growing due
to data sources such as sensors and social networks. There has been an
increasing interest in incorporating these huge amounts of external and
unstructured data, normally referred to as “Big Data”, into traditional
applications. This necessity has made that traditional database systems and
processing need to evolve and accommodate them. We view that several key
themes with the Big Data trends include (i) managing Big Data projects to
discover business values; (ii) developing an architecture for a Big Data
environment to conceptualize goals, tasks, and problem-solving methods to
apply to domains; (iii) exploring problem-solving methods for Big Data;
(iv) using a cloud for managing large-scale external and internal data; and
(v) providing an easy-to-use but powerful services to access/manage/analyze
the Big Data in the cloud.
Therefore, this new era of Big Data and cloud environment requires
conceptualization and methods to effectively manage Big Data and accomplish
intended business goals. Thus, the objective of MoBiD’18 is to be an
international forum for exchanging ideas on the latest and best proposals
for modeling and managing Big Data in this new data-driven paradigm. Papers
focusing on novel applications and using conceptual modeling approaches for
any aspects of Big Data such as Hadoop and its ecosystems, Big Data
Analytics, social networking, security and privacy, hybrid cloud, Big Data
warehousing, data science topics, etc. are highly encouraged. The workshop
will be a forum for researchers and practitioners who are interested in the

Call for Papers
1st International Workshop on Multi-Method Evaluation of Personalized
Systems (MuMe 2018)
https://multimethods.info
held in conjunction with UMAP 2018 (User Modeling, Adaptation and
Personalization)
http://www.um.org/umap2018/
8 - 11 July, 2018 at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Intro
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The MuMe 2018 workshop is based on the objective to raise awareness in
the user modeling community for the significance of using multiple
methods in the evaluation of recommender systems and other personalized
systems.
Employing a multi-method evaluation integrating a number of single
methods (e.g., a combination of think-aloud and survey with open-ended
questions or a combination of offline prediction simulation with an open
dataset and survey with closed- and open-ended questions) allows for
getting a more integrated and richer picture of user experience and
quality drivers of personalized systems.
The primary goal of this workshop is to build a community around the
multi-method evaluation topic and to develop a long-term research agenda
for the topic.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Topics
-------------------------------------------------------------------
We solicit position and research papers (4 pages excluding references,
UMAP 2018 Extended Abstracts Format) that address challenges in the
multi-method evaluation of recommender systems and other personalized
systems. This includes
- "lessons learned" from the successful application of multi-method
evaluations, - "post mortem" analyses describing specific evaluation
strategies that failed to uncover decisive elements,
- "overview papers" analyzing patterns of challenges or obstacles to
multi-method evaluation, and - "solution papers" presenting solutions
towards identified challenges.
Possible questions addressed may include (but are not limited to):
- How can we select evaluation methods that allow to identify blind
spots in user experience? What may be criteria to compare and evaluate
the suitability of methods for given evaluation objectives and how can
we develop those?
- How can we integrate and combine the results of multiple methods to
get a comprehensive picture of user experience?
- What are the challenges and limitations of single- or multi-method
evaluation of RecSys? How can we overcome such hurdles?
- What are viable user-centric multi-method study designs (guidelines)
for evaluating RecSys? What are the lessons learned from successful or
unsuccessful user-centric multi-method study designs?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
