A container is a software environment where one can install an application or application component (the so called micro service) and all the library dependencies, binaries, and basic configurations needed to run the application. Containers provide a higher level of abstraction for the process lifecycle management, thus enabling not only to easily start and stop applications, but also to upgrade and release new software versions in a seamless way. Container packaging mechanisms, like Docker, LXD, and RKT, as well as management frameworks, like Kubernetes, Cloudify, Mesos, etc., are promoting their widespread adoption in the Cloud, Big Data and the Internet industry today. Indeed, containers may solve many issues, e.g., application dependencies, application portability, performance overhead. Despite the wide interest in containers, we are far away from their maturity stage and there are still many open research issues. This workshop is specifically focused on the challenges of autonomic management of large-scale container based systems. The workshop is supposed to share new findings, exchange ideas, discuss research challenges and report latest research efforts, which are related but not limited to the following topics: - Performance modeling of container based systems - Monitoring of container based systems - Characterization of containerized workload - Orchestration models, mechanisms and policies for large-scale deployments - Resource management at run time - Autonomic management of large-scale container-based systems - Management of container in cloud networking (e.g., NFV) - Use cases and challenges for the management / orchestration of large-scale container-based systems – Cloud, HPC, Big Data, IoT applications and Internet / Network Services =========================================================== *Submission and Publication* We call for original and unpublished papers describing research results, experience, visions or new Initiative. Full papers should not exceed 8 pages and Position papers should not exceed 4 pages. The paper should be in the standard double column IEEE format for conference proceedings and paper length includes figures, tables, references and appendices. All manuscripts will be reviewed and judged on merits including originality, significance, interest, correctness, clarity, and relevance. Conversations are at the heart of every human activity. Mediated conversations that use text, audio, images and video are a part of every aspect of life: From the Cluetrain Manifesto’s “markets are conversations”, through Robin Dunbar’s conversations as devices for social grooming. Accordingly, this minitrack is open to research on mediated conversation from a variety of disciplinary perspectives including Communication, Management, Education, Computer Science, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Law, and the like. As the role of mediated conversation in everyday life and in the workplace becomes more dominant, we encounter new research questions. Many mediated conversations leave a persistent record and become persistent conversations. This persistence transforms the essence of conversation that was, until recently, predominantly volatile and ephemeral. On the other hand, some forms of mediated conversation are deliberately ephemeral and impermanent, as demonstrated by media such as Snapchat. This is the successor of the Persistent Conversation minitrack established by Tom Erickson and Susan Herring at HICSS in 1999, which was originally focused on the novelty of conversational persistence. Since then, the mediation of human communication has been imposing a new set of challenges. For example, what are the mechanisms that perform the role of the ephemeral social cues of face-to-face conversation? What are the consequences of the creation of potentially permanent records in terms of privacy, accountability, and the right to be forgotten? What of the ability to erase, steal, hijack and selectively leak and disseminate conversations that were meant to remain under the control of their participants? How do platforms affect or mediate conversations, for example by imposing algorithmic biases? Can we evaluate the claims about loss of intimacy, depth, and quality of human communication when carried out digitally? This minitrack brings together researchers and innovators to explore mediated conversation and its implications for learning, commercial transactions, entertainment, news, politics, and other forms of human interaction; to raise new socio-technical, ethical, pedagogical, linguistic and social questions; and to suggest new methods, perspectives, and design approaches. Companies are no longer providing long-term contracts but are renewing them based on deliverables from outsourced companies. This is putting tremendous pressure on teams to deliver quality product on time. Team adaptability and team configuration are becoming crucial to meet deadlines. Teams must be able to adapt quickly to the changing environment. Agile teams adapt and deliver quickly and provide maximum customer satisfaction. By definition, however, agile teams must be co-located. Can distributed teams be agile and adaptable? This requires careful team configuration. This mini-track examines the emerging issues related to team configuration and performance in distributed environment. Some research related to outsourcing of structured tasks has been done, but research related to emerging issues like diversity, cohesiveness, agility and adaptability related to group collaboration ac ross semi or unstructured tasks is still emerging. In addition, the "e (Internet)" to "m (mobile)" transformation is creating exciting opportunities for groups to make real time decisions in a mobile environment. Distributed teams, however, face many challenges of time, location, infrastructure, language, customs, socialization and politics. This is further compounded in globally distributed teams by diversity, nationality and cultural issues. As old issue are resolved, new challenges emerge that require knowledge from multiple disciplines such as information systems, social sciences, international management, leadership and political science. It is almost impossible for one individual to have expertise in so many domains, which makes this a very challenging but ultimately rewarding collaborative area of research. Given the richness and research potential of this area, it is essential to brainstorm and bring diverse points of view to develop underlying theory and frameworks. The mini track will attempt to accomplish these objectives. The mini track will address emerging issue such as diversity, culture, adaptability and agility related to teams in distributed group decision making, as well as the underlying theories of group dynamics, coordination, communications and decision-making in distributed environments, in creation of competitive advantage. Particularly in the field of healthcare, the use of Internet of Things (IoTs) technologies has generated extensive opportunities for medical and biomedical activities. The exponential growth of wearable devices, interoperability of mobile applications and innovative IoT-based methodologies and frameworks continue to reshape, empower and transform healthcare activities and processes in a way that significantly affects the quality of services provided, safety of preventive care, medical sustainability and affordability of services. Within the context of medical and biomedical applications, the use of IoTs has moved some issues to the front line agenda of healthcare policy makers, mainly the development of appropriate architectures, mainstreaming of interoperable processes and using innovative information security frameworks. *Objective* The goal of this special issue is to solicit original high-quality, original, significant and visionary papers from both the academia and industry that deal with the development of new and generalizable methodologies and technologies in relation with the use of internet of things (IoTs) systems in medical and biomedical domains. Two decades ago, the use of electronic communication technologies-such as emails, messaging, and teleconference systems-promoted effective electronic communications in organizations, changing organizational forms, enabling electronic document management, and preserving organizational memory. Now organizations are experiencing an exponential growth in the use of a new wave of digital media, social media technologies such as blogs, wikis, social networking sites, twitters, and microblogging that provide new affordances. While scholars have examined the use of social media technologies for organizational external communications (e.g., with customers and vendors), our understanding of the digital and social use within organizations remains limited. In order for an organization to amplify the returns/benefits and to mitigate the drawbacks of DSM use within the organizational work environment, it is imperative for both researchers and practitioners to focus on the implications of digital and social media use for organizational actions. This research lies at the intersectionality of multiple disciplines, namely Information Systems, Science & Technology, Organization Science, and Behavioral Science. The Call for Papers welcomes theoretical and empirical studies addressing organizational, managerial, technical, and behavioral perspectives on digital and social media in enterprises. Recommender systems are a practical tool for overcoming this information overload. However, the tourism domain is substantially more complicated, and as such, creates huge challenges for those designing tourism focused recommender system. Planning a vacation usually involves searching for a set of products that are interconnected (e.g. means of transportation, lodging, attractions etc.), with a rather limited availability, and where contextual aspects may have a major impact (timing, social context, environmental context). In addition, and most importantly, products are emotionally “loaded” and considered “experience goods;” therefore, decision taking is not only based on rational and objective criteria (i.e., system 2 thinking). As such, providing the right information to visitors of a tourism site at the right time about the site itself and various services nearby is challenging. Thus, this environment makes building effective recommendation systems within tourism extremely challenging. RecTour 2017 will focus on the specific challenges for recommender systems in the tourism domain. Having a workshop focused on tourism will provide an opportunity for RecSys participants working in this area to discuss specific issues of interest. We also hope to attract additional, domain specific professionals that initially might not consider attending RecSys. The primary goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners from different fields, e.g., tourism, recommender systems, user modelling, user interaction, mobile, ubiquitous and ambient technologies, artificial intelligence and web information systems, so as to discuss and illustrate applications of these technologies in tourism recommender systems of the future. During the workshop, we will identify typical user groups, tasks and roles in order to achieve an adequate personalization and recommendation for tourism applications. Important aspects and topics to be discussed evolve around (but are not limited to): • Specific applications and case studies (evaluation) • Specific methods and techniques for tourism recommenders • Novel ICT and its impact on travel and tourism • Integrating data – exploiting data from various sources, i.e., catalogues, Linked Open Data, and usage logs • Context and mobility in tourism • Cold-start problem in the context of tourism recommenders • Preference elicitation in tourism • Emotions and tourism recommenders • Interaction • Interaction concepts with personal (mobile or desktop) and group (on-site public or desktop) displays • Information needs, information access (incl. visualisation) and search patterns • Collaboration, communication and sharing aspects in the process of tourist information consumption • Personalized explanations and feedback of recommendation systems • Digital storytelling, narratives, smart summaries and recommendation explanations Important Dates Submission deadline: June 22nd, 2017 Notification: July 13th, 2017 Camera-ready deadline: July 31st, 2017 Deadlines refer to 11:59pm (Anywhere on Earth). Submission Guidelines Submission types are long research papers reporting on complete research (8 pages), short papers reporting on work in progress (4 pages), position papers reflecting on emerging topics (2-4 pages), demonstration systems showcasing novel aspects or providing the opportunity to interact (demo-summaries 2 pages) as well as project ideas discussion innovative research proposals and late breaking ideas (2-4 pages). All contributions must be relevant to the Call for Papers of RecTour 2017. RecTour 2017 submissions should be prepared in PDF format according to the standard double-column ACM SIG proceedings format.
