One of the most significant of these challenges is the issue of comparative evaluation. It has always been difficult to rigorously compare different approaches to personalization, as the function of the resulting systems is, by their nature, heavily influenced by the behaviour of the users involved in trialling the systems. To-date this topic has received relatively little attention. Developing comparative evaluations in this space would be a huge advancement as it would enable shared comparison across research, which to-date has been very limited. Taking inspiration from communities, such as Information Retrieval and Machine Translation, the EvalUMAP Workshop series seek to propose and design one or more shared tasks to support the comparative evaluation of approaches to User Modelling, Adaptation and Personalization. This year’s workshop will solicit presentations from key practitioners in the field on innovative datasets that meet specific requirements (e.g. ownership, accessibility, privacy) and that could form the basis to start scoping and designing shared task-based challenges and evaluations in the area of user adaptation and personalisation for next year. The resulting shared task(s) will be accompanied by appropriate models, content, metadata, user behaviours, etc., and can be used to comprehensively compare how different approaches and systems perform. In addition, a number of evaluation metrics and methods will be outlined, that participants would be expected to perform in order to facilitate comparison. Finally, the proposed shared task(s) will be disseminated in the community and the resulting outcomes will be presented at an EvalUMAP forum next year. In particular, the planned outcomes of the EvalUMAP Workshop 2017 is as follows: (1) A clear understanding of the challenges and requirements related to the design of a shared task-based approach in User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization space and (2) identify specific issues and requirements on user data capturing and dataset processing in the context of personalization for a shared task (3) the identification and description of suitable and publicly accessible datasets that overcome the previous identified challenges and (4) the design of shared task-based evaluations using suitable datasets that will take place throughout 2017 and early 2018, and be presented at UMAP 2018. Workshop topics are evaluation focused and include, but are not limited to: - Understanding UMAP evaluation - Defining tasks and scenarios for evaluation purposes - Identification of potential corpora (datasets) for shared tasks - Automated and semi automated processes on creating appropriate datasets and simulating user behaviours etc in order to accommodate a shared task - Interesting target tasks and explanations of their importance - Critiques or comparisons of existing evaluation metrics and methods - How we can combine existing evaluation metrics and methods? - Reusing or improving previously suggested metrics and methods - Reducing the cost of evaluation - Proposal of new evaluation metrics and methods - Technical challenges associated with design and implementation - Anonymization of datasets, Privacy, Ethics and Security issues on the use of datasets Workshop format: This will be an interactive workshop structured to encourage group discussion and active collaboration among attendees. The workshop will feature a keynote talk, lightning round presentation session for position papers, multiple (parallel) breakout sessions, and a final discussion session to wrap up the event. Paper Submissions: The workshop is now accepting position papers from 2 to 6 pages (including references) describing approaches or ideas/challenges on the topics of the workshop are invited. In particular, three types of papers are solicited: (1) papers describing available infrastructure that could be used to capture data for shared evaluation challenges; (2) papers describing available datasets that could be exploited for shared challenge generation; (3) papers describing challenges and potential solutions around shared challenge generation in the UMAP space. Submissions should be in ACM Standard SIGCONF format. LaTeX and Word templates are available athttp://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. Full papers are expected to be descriptions of complete technical work, whereas short papers can describe innovative approaches or preliminary results which may nevertheless require more work to mature. Vision papers and other position papers should be submitted as short research papers. Demo submissions should provide the motivation for the demonstrated concepts, the information about the technology and the system to be demonstrated (including a system description, functionality and figures when applicable), and should state the significance of the contribution. The scenarios within which the demonstration applies should also be explained. Evaluation criteria for the demonstration proposals include: novelty, technical advances and challenges, and the overall practical attractiveness of the demonstrated system. By submitting a paper, its authors commit to its presentation at the conference in the event that the paper is accepted. For an accepted paper to be included in the proceedings, at least one of its authors must register for the conference. At SISAP 2017, all research papers will be presented both orally and in a poster session. The demos will also be presented in the poster session - posters should be prepared for these as well. All research and demo papers will be given an entry in the conference proceedings. Papers submitted to SISAP 2017 must be written in English and formatted according to the LNCS guidelines. They create a new blueprint for competition as they not only facilitate formation of new products and services but also shape business models, impact strategies, and transform entire industries. A platform is a foundation on which third parties can build complementary product or service. Hence, for meeting the requirements of heterogeneous users and exploit network effects, platform owners encourage complementary innovation from the outside resources such as customers, research companies, business partners and universities. Such approach of complementary innovation has given rise to the platform ecosystem model. Platform ecosystems are comprised of externally produced complements that augment the platform capabilities. Ecosystem leaders usually do not possess formal authority over application developers, but work with them in a loose manner. Platform-based technologies such as personal computers, video game consoles, and mobile computing systems are vital in the information economy. The crucial challenge for platform providers is to constantly sustain and foster an innovative ecosystem around their platform. Moreover, contemporary literature lacks the case studies providing fruitful insights into the phenomenon of platform ecosystem. The aim of this special issue is to publish cutting-edge research to enhance the understanding of the challenges, opportunities, strategies, and architecture of the platform ecosystem. Example of Topics of interest for the special issue include, but are not limited to: • Platform businesses versus product/service businesses • Developing platform strategy • Aligning platform architectures and strategy • Evolving a platform ecosystem • Platform ecosystem governance • Designing and orchestrating software platform ecosystems • Creating and managing apps for software platforms • Mobile platform ecosystem • Case studies on digital aggregators • Case studies on contemporary platform ecosystems (Mobile computing, Browser, social networks, publishing, video games, search engines etc.) This special issue also welcomes Teaching Case articles describing certain contemporary methods of teaching IT cases that engage students in realistic business scenarios. For example, a new teaching case could explore the complex issues involving the transition of technology platforms, organization and management of new technologies, and importance of stakeholder commitments in new technology acceptance. Such Teaching Case articles must be accompanied by a Research Note and a Teaching Note. Submission Format and Guidelines The research must present one or more well described cases and/or applications befitting the mission of Journal of IT Case and Application Research (JITCAR). The case research can be by itself or in conjunction with an empirical or experimental research. It is important to note that the submitted papers not only demonstrate issues related to platform ecosystem, but also advance our current understanding of implications of platform ecosystem on organizational performance through adoption of innovative technology and systems. All submitted papers must be clearly written in English and must contain only original work, which has not been published by, or is currently under review for, any other journal, conference, symposium, or workshop. April 2017* Das Geschäftsprozessmanagement (GPM) ist mittlerweile eine etablierte Forschungsdisziplin. Um zukünftig die Relevanz der erreichten Forschungsergebnisse zu sichern und eine zielgerichtete Weiterentwicklung zu ermöglichen, müssen die Methoden und Instrumente des GPM an die sich im ständigen Wandel befindlichen Ansprüche aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Verwaltung angepasst werden. Darüber hinaus öffnet die Integration neuer Technologien wie beispielsweise RFID, mobile Geräte und Spracherkennung in das GPM neue Forschungsmöglichkeiten. Zudem bedürfen auch neue Sprachen zur Modellierung von Entscheidungsregeln oder zum Case Management und neue Werkzeuge und Technologien (z.B. Wearable Devices, Sensorik) und deren Integration mit traditionellen Ansätzen des Geschäftsprozessmanagements der weiteren Untersuchung. Mit dem Workshop soll daher eine Plattform geschaffen werden, über die Ideen für die zukünftige Forschung im Kleinen, aber auch die Ausrichtung der GPM-Disziplin im Großen diskutiert werden können. Der Workshop möchte somit dazu beitragen, wichtige Impulse und Anregungen für die zukünftige Forschung zu liefern. Insbesondere auch Beiträge von Praktikern sind hierzu hochwillkommen. Beiträge zu diesem Workshop können entweder originär neue Erkenntnisse beinhalten oder auf bereits veröffentlichten Artikeln basieren. Einreichungen und Publikation Einreichungen zu diesem Workshop unterliegen einem Peer-Review Verfahren. Akzeptierte Beiträge werden im Rahmen des Tagungsbands der Informatik 2017 veröffentlicht werden, der in der Reihe „Lecture Notes in Informatics“ (LNI) in elektronischer Form erscheint. Einreichungen können hier durchgeführt werden.
