Es wird immer selbstverständlicher, daß Arbeit von unterschiedlichsten Orten aus und zu flexibilisierten Zeitpunkten erbracht wird. Immer leistungsfähigere Endgeräte und eine immer bessere Netzanbindung durch neue Mobilfunkstandards, WLAN-Zugänge und Hotspots erlauben ubiquitäre Arbeits- und Kommunikationsfähigkeit. Die damit verbundene Entgrenzung des Arbeitslebens wird auch aus arbeitswissenschaftlicher Sicht intensiv diskutiert. Modernität und Design entsprechender Ausrüstungen werden zu einem relevanten Faktor der Arbeitgeberattraktivität. Unterstützt werden diese Ausstattungstrends durch cloudbasierte Datenhaltung und Dienstebereitstellung; ein wesentlicher Funktionalitätenbereich dieser Digital Workplaces sind kollaborationsunterstützende Anwendungen, die immer mehr Echtzeitkooperation mit immer umfänglicheren Kommunikationskanälen ermöglichen. Diese Entwicklung hin zur zunehmenden Virtualisierung von Arbeits“plätzen“ auf IT-Basis hat ein natürliches Gegenstück in der Frage, wie diese virtuellen Arbeitsmöglichkeiten in physische Arbeitsumgebungen und Meetingräumlichkeiten integriert werden. Das geplante HMD-Heft 318 will eine aktuelle Bestandsaufnahme zum Thema des Digital Workplace vorlegen. Wie ist der aktuelle Stand der Ausrüstungen? Wie ist die Durchdringung in einzelnen Branchen, Unternehmensgrössen oder Funktionsbereichen? Mit welchen Vorgehensweisen werden die Nutzer dieser Arbeitsmittel in deren Planung und Implementierung einbezogen, welche Beteiligungsformen gibt es hierfür? Wie „user-centric“ ist deren Planung? Welche Wirkungen haben diese Ausstattungskomponenten auf die individuelle Arbeitssituation, die Gestaltung von Teamwork, die Etablierung übergreifender Wertschöpfungsnetzwerke? Welche Implikationen in Bezug auf Datensicherheit und Datenschutz ergeben sich? Wie funktioniert das Zusammenspiel von virtuellen Arbeitsumgebungen und physischen Büroumgebungen, und sonstigen Aufenthaltsorten? Dieses Schwerpunktheft stellt wesentliche Entwicklungslinien, Lösungen, Diskussionslinien und Anwendungsbeispiele vor, beschreibt wesentliche Erfahrungen aus Projekten und soll damit einen prägnanten Überblick über die genannten Fragestellungen ergeben. Das Heft erscheint im Dezember 2017, der Abgabetermin für finale Artikelfassungen ist *Ende August 2017*. In this context Prahalad (2009) aptly describes this hypercompetitive environment, "In Volatile Times,Agility Rules." Organizations aspire to be agile in this highly unstable market. IT has enabled organizational agility by helping adapt to changing conditions (Lucas Jr. and Olson 1994), building digital options (Sambamurthy, Bharadwaj et al. 2003), etc. While there has been a great focus on increasing organizational agility with IT enablement, we are not sure whether there have been compromises on security practices while the firm tries to be more agile (Baskerville 2004). Organization agility makes the organization more flexible while security practices follow strict rules and processes. The objective of this minitrack is to invite research articles which investigate the interplay between organizational agility through IT enablement and security practices which may have been compromised because of the focus on agility. Call for Papers: The objective of this minitrack is to encourage research articles (theoretical, empirical or design science research) which are insightful, coherent and methodically sound aligning with the objectives of this minitrack. This minitrack is open to various types of research including those that use quantitative, qualitative, and theoretical approaches. Livability stands for local quality of life and citizen satisfaction in terms of education, environment, stability, healthcare, and infrastructure. Livable Melbourne for instance, is the outcome of a development, policy and planning path, while today is the showpiece, the workplace, and the venue for the young and restless to play. In this respect, this workshop aims to demonstrate how web applications and Apps can enhance city’s quality of life and citizen satisfaction (i.e., from smart service delivery; from transactions with the local government and utilities; from the existence of local online gaming, training, entertainment, business etc.). Theoretical concepts, empirical evidence and selected case studies from leading scholars and practitioners in the field showing the “big picture” of smart cities and urban areas will be examined in this workshop. This workshop aims at gathering researchers from the fields of smart cities and web application development to think about the obstacles that hurdle the leveraging of understanding and capturing of smart city trends with regard web application development that interconnect citizens, businesses and government in a smart city. AW4City 2017 is timely, since an increasing criticism is being generated that smart city represents an ambiguous urban utopia, which is supported by the partnership of local governments with big technological vendors. We target researchers from both industry and academia to join forces in this exciting area. We intend to discuss the recent and significant developments in the general areas of smart cities and web applications and to promote cross-fertilization of techniques. In particular, we aim at identifying trends and respective applications in smart cities; the potential impact of smart city in web applications; techniques from end-to-end solutions’ or apps’ development that will enable researchers to understand the dynamic phenomena in smart cities, as well as specify important directions for the research communities. Standards for web applications’ development in smart cities is interesting for several areas such as sustainability, crisis management, marketing, security, and interoperability. To address the above mentioned aspects, we solicit the following topics (but not limited to): • Theoretical foundations on Smart City applications and standards; • Smart City management systems; • Practices of Web applications and Apps in smart cities; • Creative partnerships and creative industries in Smart City (Internet Economics and Monetization); • Pervasive Web and Mobility for Smart City emerging topics (i.e., energy, water, waste, transportation etc.) • The role of government for smart city applications development and standardization (i.e., promotion push, start-ups, open data); • Web Infrastructure standardization; • The role of standards on smart city web mining; • Smart city e-services for evaluation and benchmarking; • Smart city information quality and evolution in social content; • Ensuring security and privacy in Smart Cities: the role of web applications. Submission ------------------------------------- We welcome full research papers, research in progress, and discussion papers. Full papers should be up to 6 pages long (max 5000 words), including the abstract and appendices. Discussion papers may be short (up to 4 pages), but should clearly and distinctly address one or more issues pertinent to Smart City research including research methods and quality as well as focus of studies. Papers should be designed to support in-depth discussions of one of these issues during the workshop. Although it is a half-day event, the workshop papers will be clustered and each session will discuss a small set of papers focusing on similar or related issues. Submission Guidelines -------------------------------------- The accepted papers will be included in the companion volume of WWW2017’s proceeding, which will be published by ACM and included in the ACM Digital Library. All submitted papers must be: - written in English; - contain author names, affiliations, and email addresses; - be formatted according to the ACM SIG Proceedings template (http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template) with a font size no smaller than 9pt; - be in PDF (make sure that the PDF can be viewed on any platform), and formatted for US Letter size. Files in Postscript (ps) or any other format will not be accepted. Authors should submit a .doc/.docx too to the workshop's chairs. - occupy no more than six pages, including the abstract, references, and appendices It is the authors responsibility to ensure that their submissions adhere strictly to the required format. Submissions that do not comply with the above guidelines may be rejected without review. All submissions must be entered into the reviewing system. Each submission will be reviewed by the workshop co-chairs and at least one external reviewer. Submission: It is recommended that Regular Papers are submitted for review with around 8 to 10 pages, with the appropriate font size and page format, including references, tables, graphs, images and appendices. Submissions with less than 4 pages or more than 13 pages will be automatically rejected. . Acceptance: After a double-blind peer review, qualifying Regular Papers may be accepted as either Full Papers or Short Papers. Regular Papers classified as Full Papers will be assigned a 12-page limit in the Workshop Proceedings, while Regular Papers classified as Short Papers have an 8-page limit. Position Papers . Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics or paper categories or related fields listed above. . All reviews are based on submissions of full papers (not abstracts) following a double-blind process. All papers are subject to plagiarism analysis using a software tool prior to review. . All regular papers are reviewed by at least two reviewers, but usually by three or more, and rated considering their: Relevance, Originality, Technical Quality, Significance and Presentation; The reviewers are also asked to answer a group of questions that may help the authors to improve the paper, should it be accepted, namely: Abstract and Introduction are adequate?, Needs more experimental results?, Needs comparative evaluation?, Improve critical discussion?, Figures are Adequate?, Conclusions/Future Work are convincing?, References are up-to-date and appropriate?, Paper formatting needs adjustment?, Improve English? . Position papers follow a similar process but the criteria used for classification are slightly different in order to account for the nature of these papers, i.e. speculative ideas and/or ongoing work not yet fully validated. PUBLICATION After thorough reviewing by the workshop program committee complemented by members of the main conference program committee, all accepted papers will be published in a special section of the ICEIS 2017 conference proceedings book - under an ISBN reference and on CD-ROM support. Consequently, coordinating strategies will likely dominate management thought in the near and intermediate term as the number and variety of these “touch points” continues to expand. Effective strategies will rely on quality practitioner and academic research on a variety of issues, such as how to: differentiate user experience across points of interaction, increase reach to the consumer, improve conversion rates, sustain consumer loyalty, manage the global and the local experience, etc. The end customer is at the focus, with various technologies, devices and networks facilitating seamless computing, communication, collaboration as well as commerce related functionalities to the end users. This is made possible by embedding data, sensors, controllers, and other devices into the physical and virtual spaces of human beings thereby facilitating seamless interactions and co-engagement between the end customer and the organization. This revolution challenges companies to reimagine ways to reach current and potential audiences in a coordinated way across a multitude of channels and devices — both wired and wireless. Intelligent enterprises are exploiting this topology to drawing inferences and develop key analytics by aggregating and mining data about customers, competitors, vendors, markets, and products as well as services. Enterprises are able to garner global and local intelligence enabling them to develop innovative products and services better aligned to market needs. We invite research which addresses or expands on these ideas. Strader Deadline for Submissions: February 1, 2017 OBJECTIVE On-demand services provide a link between organizations/individuals with excess capacity and the consumers who need the service. Some of the most popular examples include Uber (transportation sharing), Airbnb (housing sharing), and Wework (office sharing). There has been dramatic growth in on-demand services over the past few years, but there is a limited amount of research investigating the range of behavioral, strategic and technical issues that explain the success, failure, and impact these services will have on existing industries and the overall economy. The purpose of this special issue is to investigate the breadth of issues that impact the success, failure, and future directions for on-demand service firms and the sharing economy. The intent is to address research issues related to these services to better understand the underlying behavioral, strategic, and technical issues from the perspectives of the users, service providers, and society. Of particular interest is studies that are multidisciplinary incorporating two or more of the following research areas – information systems, electronic commerce, business functions (marketing, finance, human resources, business law, etc.), information technology and related social sciences (economics, sociology, psychology, ethics). Studies can utilize any methodology to address these important and timely research issues.
