-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enterprises increasingly recognize the compelling economic and
operational benefits of Cloud Computing. Virtualizing and pooling IT
resources in the cloud enables organizations to realize significant cost
savings and accelerates deployment of new publications, simultaneously
transforming business and government at an unprecedented pace. However,
those valuable business benefits cannot be unlocked without addressing
new data security challenges posed by Cloud Computing.
Deploying confidential information and critical IT resources in the
Cloud raises concerns about vulnerability to attack, especially because
of the anonymous, multi-tenant nature of cloud computing. Applications
and storage volumes often reside next to potentially hostile virtual
environments, leaving information at risk to theft, unauthorized
exposure or malicious manipulation.
Governmental regulation of data privacy and location presents the
additional concern of significant legal and financial consequences if
data confidentiality is breached, or if Cloud providers inadvertently
move regulated data across international borders.
This workshop aims to provide a fertile ground for creative debate and
presentation of research results, practical experiences, and innovative
ideas in all security aspects related to cloud computing. CloudSPD'16
focuses on Cloud Computing security, and invites research efforts from
both the academia and industry in order to facilitate the dissemination
of research and development of the next generation cloud platforms,
applications and methods that will lead to better and more secure by
design cloud-based systems.
TOPICS OF INTEREST comprise, but are not limited to, the following
categories:
- Cloud Security by design frameworks
- Intra- and inter-cloud security issues
- Privacy policies for clouds
- Secure management of virtualized resources
- Privacy Enforcement for cloud applications and platforms
- Trusted computing technology
- Cloud access control and key management
- Computation over encrypted data
- Secure cloud architecture
- Data protection and secured information sharing in the cloud

Submitted papers must not substantially overlap papers that have been
published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a
conference with proceedings.
Authors must submit their papers by the deadline indicated above, using

INTRODUCTION
=============
After the reference genomes of many organisms are sequenced in the
post-genetic era, an important issue is to do the re-sequencing or de novo
sequencing of individual genomes with high-throughput reads. In the recent
years, Next Generational Sequencing (NGS) technologies, such as
Illumina/Solexa, ABI/SOLiD and Roche/454 Pyrosequencing are revolutionizing
the acquisition of genomics data. NGS technologies are rapidly changing the
approach to complex genomic studies, opening the way to personalized drugs
development and personalized medicine. NGS technologies are characterized
by a massive throughput for relatively short-sequences (reads). NGS
datasets are continuing to increase in size, and even small genomic
projects now generate terabytes of data. Therefore new computational
methods are needed, specifically designed for the type and the amount of
data generated by NGS technologies, to replace earlier commonly used genome
alignment algorithms that are unable to cope with such massive amount of
data. For instants, the development of NGS is forcing a reconsideration of
the computational methods used for genome analysis, with the problems of
read mapping and genome assembly becoming much more complex (billion of
reads). The huge scale of these datasets now poses a great computational
challenge: how can we improve software pipelines to analyze data more
efficiently? In addtiona, genomic data analysis in evolutionary biology is
becoming computationally intensive that analysis of multiple hypotheses and
scenarios need hugh computing resources.
HPCB 2016 is intended to provide a forum for researchers to present their
contributions as technical papers related to the High Performance Computing
for bioinformatics and all kinds of successful and potential applications.
SCOPE AND TOPICS
================

AIMS AND SCOPE
Many problems in Artificial Intelligence show an exponential explosion of
the search space. Although stemming from different research areas in AI,
such problems are often addressed with algorithms that have a common goal:
the effective exploration of huge state spaces. Many algorithms developed
in one research area are applicable to other problems, or can be hybridized
with techniques in other areas. Artificial Intelligence tools often exploit
or hybridize techniques developed by other research communities, such as
Operations Research.
In recent years, research in Artificial Intelligence has more and
more focused on experimental evaluation of algorithms, the
development of suitable methodologies for experimentation and
analysis, the study of languages and the implementation of systems
for the definition and solution of problems.
Scope of the workshop is fostering the cross-fertilization of ideas stemming
from different areas, proposing benchmarks for new challenging problems,
comparing models and algorithms from an experimental viewpoint, and, in
general, comparing different approaches with respect to efficiency, problem
modeling, and ease of development.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Experimental evaluation of algorithms for
o knowledge representation
o automated reasoning
o planning
o scheduling
o machine learning
o model checking
o boolean satisfiability (SAT)
o constraint programming
o argumentation
o temporal reasoning
o combinatorial optimization
o quantified boolean formulae and quantified constraints
o modal logics
o logic programming
o answer set programming
o ontological reasoning
* Definition and construction of benchmarks
* Experimentation methodologies
* Metaheuristics
* Algorithm hybridization
* Static analysis of combinatorial problems
* Languages and systems for definition and solution of problems
* Comparisons between systems and algorithms
* Application experiences (visualization, graphics, security, transports,...)
