However, those valuable business benefits cannot be unlocked without addressing new data security challenges posed by Cloud Computing. Deploying confidential information and critical IT resources in the Cloud raises concerns about vulnerability to attack, especially because of the anonymous, multi-tenant nature of cloud computing. Applications and storage volumes often reside next to potentially hostile virtual environments, leaving information at risk to theft, unauthorized exposure or malicious manipulation. Governmental regulation of data privacy and location presents the additional concern of significant legal and financial consequences if data confidentiality is breached, or if Cloud providers inadvertently move regulated data across international borders. This workshop aims to provide a fertile ground for creative debate and presentation of research results, practical experiences, and innovative ideas in all security aspects related to cloud computing. CloudSPD'16 focuses on Cloud Computing security, and invites research efforts from both the academia and industry in order to facilitate the dissemination of research and development of the next generation cloud platforms, applications and methods that will lead to better and more secure by design cloud-based systems. One answer to this call has been the ontological theory (drawing on the ontology of Mario Bunge) Wand and Weber introduced to the field in three seminal papers (1990, 1993, 1995). This work established three views on information systems as representations of human perceptions of a domain of interest: the representation model, the state tracking model, and the good decomposition model. This stream of work has generated a great deal of interest, and produced many papers using Wand and Weber's models to evaluate important phenomena in information systems. Notably, researchers have used ontological analysis to suggest how grammars for conceptual modeling and database design might be modified to be ontologically sound and they have evaluated the effects of these modifications on how well models are understood. As it has been 25 years since the early work in this area, this is an opportune time to assess the contribution ontological analysis has made to the IS field over the past quarter century and to look forward to new areas of application. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and developers from academia and industry in order to discuss current scientific and technical results on using agent technology for solving complex, distributed real-world problems. The workshop welcomes submissions of original, high-quality papers reporting on models or systems that have been or are being implemented. Experience reports and application demonstrators are particularly welcome. Topics Specific topics of this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following: + Agent-based distributed problem solving + Multi-agent programming languages + Agent oriented software design and methodology + Quantitative and qualitative analysis / modeling of multi-agent systems + Task-based agent context and task-oriented agents + Multi-agent systems for modeling and simulation + Recommendation agents for scientific problem solving + Distributed knowledge integration and sharing for scientific applications + Agent based resource and service discovery + Agents and emergent behavior + Learning in multi-agent systems + Modeling and analysis of complex networks + Synergies between agents and complex networks Paper submission We invite submissions in the form of: + research papers, + extended abstracts Papers of up to 8 pages (in CPS Conference Style) should be electronically submitted through EasyChair. Research papers must contain original research results not submitted and not published elsewhere. Authors which want to present work in progress or discuss new aspects or a survey of their older research results at the workshop are welcome to submit an extended abstract (up to 4 pages). Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics. Publication The papers accepted for presentation will be included in a locally edited proceedings (electronic version on a memory stick). Accepted research papers should be presented at the conference and the best papers will be selected for publication in the post proceedings published by Conference Publishing Services. Extended versions of the papers accepted and presented at the workshop will be considering to be published as a special issue in the Mathematics and Computer Science Annals of the West University of Timisoara or in SCPE – Scalable Computing: Practice and Experience (SCOPUS indexed). One of the main goals of the WG is to promote the scientific growth of young researchers interested in the field of security and trust management. ERCIM STM WG then decided to establish an award for the best Ph.D. thesis in this area to increase the visibility of the young researchers within the ERCIM scientific community as well as in the scientific community in general. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * applied cryptography; * data and application security; * identity management; * networked systems security; * privacy, anonymity, and untraceability; * rigorous semantics and computational models for security and trust; * security, privacy, and trust in emerging computing paradigms; * security and trust management architectures, mechanisms, and policies. Applications for the award in 2016 are open to all Ph.D. holders that defended their thesis during 2015 in any European University. Applications consisting of the Ph.D. Thesis (in PDF format), a short summary of the Thesis (mandatory in English), a curriculum vitae (in PDF format), and letters of support from at least two researchers, one of whom should be from an ERCIM STM WG Institution, should be sent by July 22, 2016 to stm(a)unimi.it. The importance of data intensive systems has been raising and will continue to be the foremost fields of research. This raise brings up many research issues, in forms of capturing and accessing data effectively and fast, processing it while still achieving high performance and high throughput, and storing it efficiently for future use. Innovative programming models, high performance scalable computing platforms, efficient storage systems and expression of data requirements are at immediate need.
