Call for Papers: 4th International Workshop on
Service Orientation in Computing and Logistics (SOC-LOG 2016)
In conjunction with the 19th International Conference
on Business Information Systems (BIS 2016)
July 6-8, 2016, Leipzig, Germany
Workshop website:
http://bis.kie.ue.poznan.pl/bis2016/workshops/soc-log-2016/
++ Deadline for submission: May 22, 2016 ++
++ Springer LNBIP proceedings ++
===================================================================
Workshop Theme
==============
Service orientation has become a prevalent paradigm for engineering
and managing new forms of smart, highly integrative, usage-based
business ecosystems. Its significance is being increasingly recognized
by research communities that study new approaches for establishing
smart service offerings in different domains. Logistics is a service
domain that has a particularly high potential of benefiting from
service orientation and service-based systems. The objective of
logistics is to service individual firms, supply chains and entire
industries with flexible means for realizing flows of goods from the
point of origin to the point of destination. Logistics relies
essentially on the ability to: (1) share resources of different
organizations, (2) provide complex services based on configurations
of elementary services, (3) coordinate service delivery across
organizations, and (4) maintain an agreed quality of service. These
requirements match closely to the key characteristics of service-based
systems. While recent advances in the engineering and management of
such systems have been made, still many questions regarding the design
of the models and methods to be used as well as their efficacy and
usefulness remain to be answered.
This workshop aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners
from different, though overlapping areas: services computing, information
systems, and logistics/supply chain management. The objective is to to
discuss the state of the art, on-going projects and open research
questions at the intersection of services computing and logistics/supply
chain management. The workshop intends to provide a forum for discussing
research approaches that will (1) enhance the understanding of the problem
domain, (2) provide ideas to solving important problems either in the
domain or the models and methods, or (3) evaluate models and methods of
services computing by reporting their use through, e.g., case study,
experimentation, simulation. The workshop is not restricted to particular
research methods and we will consider both conceptual, theoretical
and empirical research, as well as novel applications.

Towards a Business-Driven Process Model for Knowledge Security Risk
Management: Making Sense of Knowledge Risks
Ilona Ilvonen (Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland), Jari J
Jussila (Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland), Hannu
Kärkkäinen (Department of Information Management and Logistics, Tampere
University of Technology, Tampere, Finland)
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a model to manage knowledge
security risks in organizations. Knowledge security risk management is a
sensemaking process that should be carried out by managers, and the proposed
model works as a tool for the sensemaking process. The model is illustrated
with an analytical case example. The process model helps to identify knowledge
security risks and provides a comprehensive approach to evaluating and
balancing the costs and benefits of knowledge sharing and knowledge risk
management. The paper addresses calls for research on the emerging topic of
knowledge security and the important topic of new knowledge sharing tools from
the combined perspectives of business benefits and risk management. The
results presented in this paper are preliminary and conceptual, and further
research on the topic is suggested. The process model proposed in this paper
can be a valuable tool for practitioners aiming to develop knowledge
sharing practices in companies, and at the same time need to consider the
security of knowledge.

Knowledge Risks of Social Media in the Financial Industry
Christina Sarigianni (School of Management, University of Innsbruck,
Innsbruck, Austria), Stefan Thalmann (School of Management, University of
Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria), Markus Manhart (School of Management, University
of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria)
The financial sector is characterized as knowledge intensive with
knowledge as the key source of competitive advantage. The introduction of social
media within the organizational environment has raised the number of
knowledge risks that can lead to knowledge leakage and thus to a loss of
competitive edge. The authors investigated knowledge risks arising from the use of
social media within the financial sector. They interviewed twelve employees
from ten different European financial institutions to identify strategies
how financial institutions currently deal with knowledge risks. The authors
identified three major knowledge risks induced by social media and it
appears that financial institutions are skeptical towards social media adoption.
However, competition forces financial institutions to adopt social media
and to change their attitude. As a consequence, financial institutions need
to find different strategies for the management of knowledge risks. The
authors identified such strategies and they show which strategies link to the
major knowledge risks.

Ownership of Collaborative Works in the Cloud
Marilyn Phelps (San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, USA), Murray E.
Jennex (College of Business Administration, San Diego State University,
San Diego, CA, USA)
Increased usage of cloud storage and other networking technologies in
knowledge management (KM) systems leave companies vulnerable to loss of
proprietary rights as intellectual property law struggles to keep up with these
advances. This paper reviews the current legal environment surrounding cloud
and collaborative KM, discusses the implications for KM, and makes
recommendations for how gaps between legal protection for intellectual property and
KM can be overcome/corrected. Additionally, the paper explores how aware
KM personnel are of this risk and proposes a further study using the who
owns it game.

Knowledge Transfer in Information Security Capacity Building for
Community-Based Organizations
Janine L. Spears (DePaul University, Chicago, IL, USA), Tonia San
Nicolas-Rocca (School of Information, San Jose State University, San Jose, CA,
USA)
Community-based organizations (CBOs) in the health and human services
sector handle very sensitive client information, such as psychiatric, HIV
testing, criminal justice, and financial records. With annual revenue often in
the range of $1 to $10 million, these organizations typically lack the
financial, labor, and technical resources to identify and manage information
security risks within their environment. Therefore, information security risk
assessments were conducted at CBOs as part of a university service learning
course intended to ultimately improve security within participating CBOs.
Knowledge transfer between trainees and trainers is essential in order for
security improvements to be realized. Therefore, this paper constructs a
theoretical model of knowledge transfer that is used as a lens through which
to examine initial study results of the CBO interventions as part of an
exploratory study.

The proceedings of ARES (including workshops) have been published by Conference Publishing Services (CPS) of IEEE. Authors of selected papers that are accepted by and presented at the ARES Conference (including workshops) will be invited to submit an extended version to special issues of international journals.
Authors are invited to submit research and application papers according the following guidelines: two columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 pt fonts and number each page.
For the workshops submission papers should represent original, previously unpublished work:
*workshop paper (8 pages, a maximum of 10 pages is tolerated)
Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, presentation and clarity of exposition.
Simultaneous submission of the same work to multiple venues, submission of previously published work, or plagiarism constitutes dishonesty or fraud. ARES, like other scientific and technical conferences and journals, prohibits these practices and may take action against authors who have committed them.
Double blind review: ARES requires anonymized submissions – please make sure that submitted papers contain no author names or obvious self-references.

22nd ACM International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces
IUI 2017
St. Raphael Resort, Limassol, Cyprus
March 13-16, 2017
http://iui.acm.org/2017
Overview
ACM IUI 2017 is the 22nd annual meeting of the intelligent interfaces
community and serves as a premier international forum for reporting
outstanding research and development on intelligent user interfaces.
The 22nd edition of the conference will be held in Limassol, Cyprus.
Limassol (or Lemesos) is a multicultural bustling town, flanked by two
ancient cities, Amathus and Kourion, and guarded by the Amathusian
Aphrodite and Appolo Hylates. It is a town of great visual diversity and
contrast from spectacular seafront views, historic places like the mediaeval
Castle, and Byzantine churches. Along the 17 km long sandy beaches, two
Marinas, world renowned 5 star hotels, and a most exciting dining, shopping,
nightlife and yachting scene create a year-round vibrant lifestyle well beyond
the expectations of a Mediterranean island.
ACM IUI is where the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) community meets
the Artificial Intelligence (AI), with contributions from related fields such as
psychology, behavioral science, cognitive science, computer graphics, design
or the arts. Our focus is to improve the interaction between humans and
machines, by leveraging both more traditional HCI approaches, as well as
solutions that involve state-of-the art AI techniques such as machine
learning, natural language processing, data mining, knowledge
representation and reasoning. ACM IUI welcomes contribution from any
relevant arena: academia, business, or non-profit organizations.
Why you should submit to ACM IUI:
At ACM IUI, we focus on the interaction between machine intelligence and
human intelligence. While other conferences focus on one side or the other,
we address the complex interaction between the two. We welcome research
that explores how to make the interaction between computers and people
smarter, which may leverage solutions from data mining, knowledge
representation, novel interaction paradigms, and emerging technologies. We
strongly encourage submissions that discuss research from both HCI and AI
simultaneously, but also welcome works that focus more on one side or the other.
The conference brings together people from academia, industry and
non-profit organizations and gives its participants the opportunity to present
and see cutting-edge IUI work in a focused and interactive setting. It is large
enough to be diverse and lively, but small enough to allow for extensive
interaction among attendees and easy attendance to the events that the
conference offers, ranging from oral paper presentations, poster sessions,
workshops, panels and doctoral consortium for graduate students.
Submission
Full and Short Papers
We invite original paper submissions that describe novel user interfaces,
applications, interactive and intelligent technologies, empirical studies, or
design techniques. IUI 2017 especially encourages submissions on innovative
and visionary new concepts or directions for the design of intelligent
interfaces. We do not require evaluations with users, but we do expect papers
to include an appropriate evaluation for their stated contribution.
Accepted papers will appear in the ACM Digital Library and citation indices.
A selected set of accepted top quality full papers will be invited to submit
their extended versions for publication in an ACM Transactions on
Interactive Intelligent Systems (TiiS, http://tiis.acm.org) special issue
titled "Highlights of IUI 2017".
Examples of ACM IUI topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· Intelligent visualization tools
· User-Adaptive interaction and personalization
· Recommender systems
· Intelligent wearable, mobile and ubiquitous interfaces
· Modeling and prediction of user behavior
· Information retrieval and search
· Education and learning-related technologies
· Social media analysis
· Multi-modal interfaces (speech, gestures, eye gaze, face, physiological
information etc.)
· Natural language and speech processing
· Generation of multimodal content
· Big Data and analytics
· Smart environments and tangible computing
· Intelligent assistants for complex tasks
· Collaborative interfaces
· Persuasive and assistive technologies in IUI
· Affective and aesthetic interfaces
· Interactive machine learning
· Planning and plan recognition for IUI
· Knowledge-based approaches to user interface design and generation
· Proactive and agent-based user interaction
· Example-and demonstration-based interfaces
· Evaluations of intelligent user interfaces
Submission Guidelines
· Full paper (anonymized 10 pages, references do not count toward the page
limit) should make substantial, novel, and relevant contribution to the field.
· Short paper (anonymized 4 pages, references do not count toward the page
limit) is a much more focused and succinct contribution to the field. Short
papers are not expected to include a discussion of related work that is as
broad and complete as that of full papers.
· Anonymization: ACM IUI uses a double-blind review process. All submissions
must be appropriately anonymized according to the following guidelines:
1. Author's names and affiliations are not visible anywhere in the paper.
2. Acknowledgements should be anonymized or removed during the review
process.
3. Self-citations should be included where necessary, but must use the third
person. For example, "... as shown in our previous user study [2] ..." is not
allowed, whereas "... as shown in Smith et al. [2] " is acceptable (because in
this case the citation [2] will NOT be perceived as self-citation).
Failure to follow these guidelines may results in submissions being rejected
without review.
Submissions should follow the standard SigCHI format available here:
http://www.sigchi.org/publications/chipubform/ . You may use either the
Microsoft Word template or the LaTeX template.
Accepted full papers will be invited for oral presentation. Accepted short
papers will be invited either as oral or poster presentation, depending on
the quality of the papers.
AUTHORS TAKE NOTE: The official publication date is the date the
proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be
up to two weeks prior to the first day of your conference. The official
publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to
published work. (For those rare conferences whose proceedings are
published in the ACM Digital Library after the conference is over, the
official publication date remains the first day of the conference.)

Betreff: Grand Challenges der Informatik: Call for Topics
Datum: Thu, 21 Apr 2016 14:38:08 +0200 (CEST)
Von: gi-mitglieder-info(a)gi-ev.de
An: gustaf.neumann(a)wu-wien.ac.at
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe GI-Mitglieder,
vor einiger Zeit haben wir "Grand Challenges der Informatik" definiert:
https://www.gi.de/themen/grand-challenges.html.
Wir bitten nun also Sie, liebe
