Dear Colleagues, please consider submitting and participating in BPMDS'16,
Ljubljana, Slovenian, June 13-14, 2016
Affiliated with CAiSE'16 http://caise2016.si/
Sponsoredby IFIP WG8.1 (International Federation forInformation
Processing Working Group 8.1)
Submission deadline: February 22nd, 2016
Full info, see the conference website http://www.bpmds.org/
A shorter summary, see below:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BPMDS'16 solicits papers related to Business Process Modeling,
Development, and Support (BPMDS) using relevance, originality, quality
and applicability in practice as the main selection criteria. As a
working conference, BPMDS'16 seeks to attract full research papers
describing mature research, as well as experience reports related to
using BPMDS in practice and visionary idea papers. To encourage new and
emerging challenges and research directions in the area of business
process modeling, development, and support, we have a unique focus theme
every year. Papers submitted as idea papers are required to be of
relevance to the focus theme, thus providing a mass of new ideas around
a relatively narrow but emerging research area. Full research papers and
experience reports are not required to be directly connected to this
theme (they still need to be explicitly relevant to BPMDS).
The focus theme for BPMDS'16 idea papers is:
*Business Processes in a Connected World*
In which we differentiate three sub-themes:
1. Business processes for connecting people
2. Connecting intelligent objects to business processes
3. Connecting information/data/knowledge to business processes
*Proceedings*
will be published by Springer, an LNBIP volume (joint with EMMSAD). The
best papers will be invited for publication of the extended versions in
a scientific journal.

Betreff: [AISWorld] CfP: WS 'Standardisation of Cyber-Physical Systems'

***With apologies for cross-posting***
Call for Papers
Workshop 'Standardisation of Cyber-Physical Systems'
in conjunction with INFORMATIK 2016
30 September 2016
The ongoing mergers of formerly separate technical sectors may eventually change the whole standardisation landscape. Examples of such mergers include e.g. Intelligent Transport Systems (ICT, transport telematics, traffic engineering), electric vehicles (ICT, automotive, power supply), e-health (ICT, medicine) and, perhaps ultimately, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS; ICT and pretty much everything else).
For CPSs, hard requirements on e.g. reliability and response times imply that often technologies will need to be co-developed (as opposed to be integrated ex-post). Such co-development will require very close co-operation between the different technical disciplines. This represents a considerable problem also for standards setting. Standards Setting Organisations (SSOs) with very different cultures and from equally different backgrounds with very diverse technology life cycles will need to co-operate. On top of that, CPSs in general and specifically applications like e-health need to address issues of information security and safety and of trust up-front.
The WS aims to discuss how standardisation of (e)merging technologies should be managed from a European perspective. This includes trying to find answers to questions like (among others)
- How can cross-disciplinary standardisation be achieved?
- Is there a need for closer collaboration between the European Standards Organisations (ESOs) and private standards consortia? If so, how could this be organised?
- Could there be benefits in actively encouraging and founding (EU-led) consortia specifically targeting CPSs?
- How could co-operation between ESOs and their international counterparts (ISO, IEC, ITU) be improved?
- Is increased co-operation with emerging powerful players from China desirable in the field of CPSs?
- How can conditions that improve the link between R&D and standardisation in the field of CPSs be established?
- How can all relevant stakeholder groups be adequately involved in the process?
- Which role could and should the European Commission play in this process?

Betreff: [AISWorld] cfp:The 1st International Workshop on Business
Model Dynamics and Information Systems Engineering Workshop (BumDISE 2015)
Datum: Fri, 19 Feb 2016 12:07:37 +0100
Von: Gianluigi Viscusi <gianluigi.viscusi(a)epfl.ch>
An: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org
_Call for papers: The 1st International Workshop on Business Model
Dynamics and Information Systems Engineering Workshop (BumDISE 2015)_
Held in conjunction with the 28th International Conference on Advanced
Information Systems Engineering CAISE2016 (http://caise2016.si/).
Ljubljana, Slovenia on June 13, 2016.
_Important notes_
- authors are invited to submit full papers (about 12 pages) and short
papers (about 6 pages).
- accepted papers will be published in Springer LNBIP volume proceedings
together with the other CAISE 2016 workshops.
_Important dates_
- Submission is open: 10th January 2016
_- Submission deadline (EXTENDED): 25th February 2016_
- Notification of acceptance: 16th March 2016
- Camera-Ready copy due: 26th March 2016
- Workshop: 13th June 2016
The goal of the workshop is to explore and clarify the nature of the
mechanisms and dynamics underlying the emergence and evolution of new
and existing Business Models (BMs) with emphasis both on the design of
new BMs and the reconfiguration of existing ones. Both BM design and
reconfiguration implies questioning the role and methods of information
systems engineering.
While BMs have attracted attention from scholars and practitioners
working in distinct disciplines, including information systems, the
quest for their emergence and evolution has been primarily been analyzed
from a management perspective, either with a strategy or an organization
theory flavor. Within this line of inquiry, Business Model Innovation
(BMI) has been theoretically framed in terms of three broad problem
domains: discovering opportunities for new BMs (sensing), designing new
BMs (seizing) and developing (transforming) a BM (Teece, 2007). This
workshop builds on the consideration that unpacking and shedding light
on such areas can greatly benefit from importing insights from
information systems engineering. For example, what is the role of system
modeling in sensing opportunities? How and under what conditions could
conceptual modeling support the design of innovative business models
able to confer competitive advantage? Questions such as these ones
remain, partly, unanswered because the two domains, information systems
on one side, and organization theory and strategy on the other side,
have evolved into separated silos (Zott, Amit & Massa, 2011). Building
on these premises, the workshop aims to promote and exchange ideas on
the role and use of information systems engineering for BM design and
reconfiguration and a cross fertilization of insights between scholars
from information systems engineering and management and organization
science community. That’s the main contribution, difference, but also
complementarity of the workshop with regard to other CAISE confirmed
accompanying events (BPMDS, EMMSAD, ICSOB).
The workshop aims also to contribute to CAISE 2016 theme “Information
systems for connecting people” by providing an emergent perspectives on
BM Innovation, considering individuals impact on their implementation
and, thus, to business strategy outcomes.
The track is powered by the Swiss National Science Foundation Sinergia
project Business Model Dynamics (Project Number: 147666), an
interdisciplinary collaborative research effort involving research teams
from four prominent universities (EPFL – Lausanne, ETH - Zurich, USI –
Lugano and UNIBO, Bologna) and focuses on shedding light on the dynamics
at the background of the emergence and evolution of BMs across sectors
and at different levels of analysis.
Topics
We strongly encourage the publications reporting a synergy of innovative
research and best practices in BMs Innovation, design, and
reconfiguration. We encourage the original contributions exploring the
challenges and solutions related to BM innovation and information
systems engineering capabilities, as well as industrial case studies
illustrating these challenges and solutions. The topics are among but
not limited to:
* Business Model Innovation Dynamics and information systems
engineering capabilities
* Business Models Innovation through information systems engineering
* Models and Tools for BM sensing, seizing, and transforming
* Dynamic Capabilities and information systems engineering
* Multi-sided platforms and Internet-based Enterprise innovation
* Multiple value propositions and value networks
* Silver economy

Call for papers: AVI-CH 16
Workshop on Advanced Visual Interfaces for Cultural Heritage
(http://avich-16.di.unito.it/)
The rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICT)
and the Internet, and recently also of Internet of Things (IoT) approaches,
has enabled cultural heritage (CH) institutions to provide access to their
collections in multiple various ways, both on-site and online, and to
attract even wider audiences than those that visit the physical museums.
In parallel and part of the above, there is an enormous growth in user
interfaces and in information visualization technologies. The range of
visualization devices is growing by the day - from tiny smartwatch screens,
trough wall-size large public displays, to the latest generation of
immersive Head-Mounted Displays. Three Dimensional (3D) visualization
techniques, boosted by the recent advances in web-based 3D rendering
facilities, together with virtual reality (VR) technologies, play a
fundamental role in the dissemination of cultural heritage information. For
a promotional purpose, they allow for the general public to live immersive
experiences in virtual, reconstructed locations, like ancient towns, and to
visit existent but remotely located locations, such as worldwide cultural
institutions and museums (such as Google Art Project). For preservation
purposes, 3D scanning and visualization technologies provide scholars and
cultural heritage professionals with a way to consult and maintain visual
repositories of real exhibits, with the possibility of visualizing,
comparing and studying 3D digital equivalents of real artworks physically
situated in different locations.
Cultural heritage is one challenging domain of application for such novel
ICT technology. CH is ubiquitous - just look around you. There is an
abundance of CH related information available, about almost every object we
can think of. How can we access and enjoy this information in Ubiquitous
Computing scenario?
Advanced and natural human-computer interaction is a key factor in
enabling such access and visual interfaces, whether they are tiny mobile
screens or large wall mounted displays, they can all be part of the CH IoT
and be part of an ubiquitous CH infrastructure, where information can be
personalized and displayed/projected, on screens or overlaid on real
objects.
The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners
interested in exploring the potential of the state of the art of advanced
visual interfaces in enhancing our daily cultural heritage experience.
Topics: Any work which is at the same time relevant to the AVI 2016 general
list of topics and that is being applied to cultural heritage is relevant to
the workshop. Specific topics of interest, when applied to cultural heritage
are:
. Adaptive and Context-Aware Interfaces
. Information Visualization
. Interface Metaphors
. Interfaces for e-Culture and e-Tourism
. Mobile Interaction
. Multimodal Interfaces
. (Multi) Sensory Interfaces
. (Multi) Touch Interaction
. User Interfaces for the Internet of Things
. Virtual and Augmented Reality
. 3D technologies in Cultural Heritage
. IoT in cultural Heritage

Dear Colleagues,
In its 3rd year ASDENCA (Int. workshop on Advances in Service DEsign based on the Notion of CApabiliy) is taking a concern to a new modelling paradigm “capability” going beyond well-established process and service, as a candidate to manage concerns of sustainability, adaptation and flexibility of enterprise IS in the presence of often changing business conditions. We encourage original research contributions exploring the challenges and solutions related to the meaning and usage of capability in Information Systems Engineering, as well as industrial case studies advocating the need and the use of this notion to address:
Capturing of organizational context and architecture
Agile alignment from business to IT
Transferring knowledge from other domains to IS engineering
Supporting sustainability by enabling long-term IS solutions
Supporting flexibility and adaptation of IS in rapidly changing business conditions
Mining of organisational resources and competencies
Analysis of the dynamics of change in enterprise and IT systems
Experiences in capability modeling and engineering
Capability management approaches
Important dates
Submission deadline: 26th February, 2016
Notification to authors: 16th March, 2016
CRC copy submission: 25th March, 2016
The workshop: 13th June 2016
***The accepted papers will be published in Springer proceedings, as well as invited for a submission to a special issue of the CSIMQ journal***

Minitrack:
IT Governance in Emerging Economies
TRACK:
ICTs in Global Development (SIGGlobDev)
IT governance constitutes the most holistic approach for long-term IT/IS management. It refers to the harmonization of business and IT goals at all organizational levels through appropriate decision structures, governance mechanisms and organizational processes using various standards and frameworks. Applying IT governance concepts, methods and tools enables proliferation of proven approaches and thus allows obtaining organizational, social and institutional efficiencies. This is especially vital today, when business requirements and demands are subject to significant changes and organizations, particularly those originating from emerging and developing economies, find it difficult to respond to those changes in a satisfactory way. Emerging and developing economies may use (and are using) IT governance concepts, methods and tools in order to better address information needs, achieve increased organizational control and progress more effectively and efficiently. It is also very interesting to see how and to what degree the IT governance concepts, methods and tools had been applied in emerging and developing economies. The objective of this mini-track is to encourage more research on the subject by providing a forum for interested authors to disseminate their research, compare results and exchange ideas.
We are seeking papers dealing with IT governance in the context of emerging and developing economies containing the latest research presented from both business and academic perspectives. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
* Business/IT alignment modelling and models
* IT/IS strategy formulation
* Corporate architectures
* IT/IS audit and control
* Service science
* IT/IS value delivery
* IT/IS risk management
* IT/IS performance measurement & benchmarking
* IT resources utilization
* IT/IS outsourcing
* IT/IS compliance
* IT governance frameworks i.e. COBIT/ITIL/ISO 38500 etc.
* Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE)
