3rd International Workshop on Information Value Management - Challenges in
an Area of Digitalisation and Big Data - IVM 2017
26 - 29 April, 2017 - Porto, Portugal
In conjunction with the 19th International Conference on Enterprise
Information Systems - ICEIS 2017
http://www.iceis.org/IVM.aspx
Paper Submission deadline: January 26, 2017
SCOPE:
===========================
Recent advances in technology such as Internet of Things, Analytics and Big
Data lead not only a technology revolution but also offer a magnitude of
business benefits. With the arrival of Industry 4.0, the Big Data created
within the Internet of Things is so enormous that it cannot be fully
processed in conventional databases. Thus new challenges in an area of
Digitalisation and Big Data have created opportunities to explore the
information value using data analytics. In order to drive the next horizon
of operational effectiveness, Big Data solutions are used to optimize
business processes and reduce decision-making time etc.. Given the complex
nature of the information, Big Data and IoT are demanded to address the
interaction and flexibility issues among the new intelligent objects.
By providing increasing access to Data and advanced capabilities to analyse
large amounts of data we need to re-examine the value contribution of
insights and impacts these technologies offer to business. With this
workshop we aim to provide an international forum that explores various
business benefits of data and information. Information creates not only
value in financial terms but also in terms of operational and strategic
advantages. Thus exploring the value of information and its management is
crucial to the success of world-leading organizations. The value of
information can be determined by its importance to and the impact
information has on the business operations such as decision making, strategy
development or optimizing supply chains. However, the issue of how to manage
the value of information is still challenging and research so far could only
address limited aspects. It has been argued that if information result in
enhanced business value, the focus needs to s!
hift from project based cost/benefit analysis to managing the overall value
creation of information. Furthermore, over the last decade a move from
solely technical aspects to a combination of multiple contextual factors
such as technology, sector, organizational culture, and management style can
be observed. The information systems literature has consistently emphasized
the need for alignment of information systems with organizational goals and
strategies and its impact on organizational performance. One of the key
challenges and subject of continuous debate focuses on how to achieve,
measure, increase and manage information and the value it creates to
organisations. It has been concern to researchers and management for many
years and the difficulty in measuring less tangible benefits has been
emphasized.
With this workshop we aim to go beyond traditional IT productivity and cost
evaluations; we view information as a crucial asset that creates value to an
organizations, and thus needs to be managed accordingly for optimal business
value. In this workshop, we aim to provide a platform for discussing
approaches, models, results and case studies or experience reports
addressing a broad range of issues related to Information Value Management.
Research challenges include how to determine the Value of Information and
its impact on business performance, managing Data and Information Quality,
capturing and maintaining Information Assets, and designing and improving
Information Manufacture System.
Papers can include and discuss various research methods and can be based on
case studies, quantitative and quantitative methods, design science as well
as experimental and simulation. In addition practical oriented research and
experience reports are encouraged.

AMCIS 2017 Call for Papers:
E-Government Mini-Track
>From Implementation to Adoption: Challenges to Successful E-Government Diffusion
Although, nearly two decades have passed since e-government efforts began, and much research has been undertaken in the field, adoption and diffusion still remains a major challenge for many governments. From a demand perspective, extensive efforts are required to increase citizens’ awareness about the transformation of the delivery of government services and their online availability. In order to prevent digital divide in terms of using e-government services, it is also necessary that citizens from all segments of society are equipped with basic ICT skills as well as private and or public access to high speed internet connections. The above-mentioned issues may seem obvious; nonetheless, we believe that they are critical challenges to various governments’ plans for diffusion as well as citizens’ adoption of e-government services. Subsequently, there are also many technical, organizational, managerial and socio-economic challenges for successful implementation and adoption of e-government, which needs attention from various stakeholders including researchers and policy makers. The aim of this mini-track is to provide a common platform for discussion and presentation of original research highlighting issues related with technical, organizational, managerial, socioeconomic and policy related aspects of e-government implementation and adoption from both the government and citizen’s perspective.
The mini-track particularly seeks papers covering the following areas:
The development, implementation, control and maintenance of e-government and Transformational government projects.
Different process, information systems and technology integration approaches used in e-government and t-government projects
Enterprise architecture at various levels of government
IT-Governance, integrated service delivery and reengineering of the public sector
Barriers to awareness, adoption and diffusion of e-government services
Evaluation of implementation case studies
Technology alignments in e-government and t-government
Innovative applications and best practices in e-government and t-government
Overview studies; development within countries, policies, infrastructure facilities and comparative studies (comparing countries)
Role of high-speed internet in encouraging adoption and diffusion of e-government services
Role of socio-economic determinants in encouraging adoption and diffusion of e-government services
Policy and strategy to create and disseminate successful e-government services
Studies on e-Inclusion, e-participation and digital divide
Best papers from the mini-track will be invited to submit extended papers to be considered for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Electronic Government Research (IJEGR)

*Beitragsaufruf HMD Nr. 318: Digital Workplace*
Digitalisierung, Vernetzung und Virtualisierung von Arbeit und
Arbeitsgeräten verändern unsere Art zu arbeiten und die Wertschöpfung
massiv. Es wird immer selbstverständlicher, daß Arbeit von
unterschiedlichsten Orten aus und zu flexibilisierten Zeitpunkten
erbracht wird. Immer leistungsfähigere Endgeräte und eine immer bessere
Netzanbindung durch neue Mobilfunkstandards, WLAN-Zugänge und Hotspots
erlauben ubiquitäre Arbeits- und Kommunikationsfähigkeit. Die damit
verbundene Entgrenzung des Arbeitslebens wird auch aus
arbeitswissenschaftlicher Sicht intensiv diskutiert.
Organisation.

CALL FOR PAPERS
AW4city 2017, 3rd International ACM Smart City Workshop: Enhancing Livability with Web Applications for smart cities
In conjunction with WWW'17: 26th World Wide Web International Conference
Perth, Australia, April 3, 2017
http://aw4city2017.wordpress.com
Workshop Objective
----------------------------
Following up the success of past events at WWW2015 and WWW2016, AW4City 2017 aims to keep on attracting a significant international attention with regard to web applications for smart cities.
The aim of this workshop is to address web-based application and Apps' design and development in the smart city and urban context. More specifically, it focuses on innovative applications smart city component and more specifically on the design and implementation of web-based applications and Apps. This component is crucial, since it addresses all the smart city dimensions:
* Economy, since new types of entrepreneurship and innovative business models appear in data, creative and climate economies, and develop web applications and Apps.
* Mobility, with regard to urban transportation (intelligent transportation), distance working, job offering demonstration etc.
* Environment, since applications enhance resource management, transportation improvement, environmental monitoring etc.
* Living, since applications enhance local life (i.e., e-learning, e-banking, e-commerce, e-tourism etc.).
* People, since they concern applications' end users and
* Governance, where open data and e-government applications play crucial roles in smart city operation.
This year, the workshop will emphasize on the contribution of web applications and Apps to city livability. Livability stands for local quality of life and citizen satisfaction in terms of education, environment, stability, healthcare, and infrastructure. Livable Melbourne for instance, is the outcome of a development, policy and planning path, while today is the showpiece, the workplace, and the venue for the young and restless to play. In this respect, this workshop aims to demonstrate how web applications and Apps can enhance city's quality of life and citizen satisfaction (i.e., from smart service delivery; from transactions with the local government and utilities; from the existence of local online gaming, training, entertainment, business etc.).
Theoretical concepts, empirical evidence and selected case studies from leading scholars and practitioners in the field showing the "big picture" of smart cities and urban areas will be examined in this workshop.
This workshop aims at gathering researchers from the fields of smart cities and web application development to think about the obstacles that hurdle the leveraging of understanding and capturing of smart city trends with regard web application development that interconnect citizens, businesses and government in a smart city.
AW4City 2017 is timely, since an increasing criticism is being generated that smart city represents an ambiguous urban utopia, which is supported by the partnership of local governments with big technological vendors.
We target researchers from both industry and academia to join forces in this exciting area. We intend to discuss the recent and significant developments in the general areas of smart cities and web applications and to promote cross-fertilization of techniques. In particular, we aim at identifying trends and respective applications in smart cities; the potential impact of smart city in web applications; techniques from end-to-end solutions' or apps' development that will enable researchers to understand the dynamic phenomena in smart cities, as well as specify important directions for the research communities. Standards for web applications' development in smart cities is interesting for several areas such as sustainability, crisis management, marketing, security, and interoperability. To address the above mentioned aspects, we solicit the following topics (but not limited to):
* Theoretical foundations on Smart City applications and standards;
* Smart City management systems;
* Practices of Web applications and Apps in smart cities;
* Creative partnerships and creative industries in Smart City (Internet Economics and Monetization);
* Pervasive Web and Mobility for Smart City emerging topics (i.e., energy, water, waste, transportation etc.)
* The role of government for smart city applications development and standardization (i.e., promotion push, start-ups, open data);
* Web Infrastructure standardization;
* The role of standards on smart city web mining;
* Smart city e-services for evaluation and benchmarking;
* Smart city information quality and evolution in social content;
* Ensuring security and privacy in Smart Cities: the role of web applications.
