Enabling Semantic Mediation in DaaS Composition: Service-Based and
Context-Driven Approach
Idir Amine Amarouche (University of Sciences and Technology Houari
Boumediene, Bab-Ezzouar, Algeria), Djamal Benslimane (Claude Bernard
Lyon 1 University, Lyon, France), Zaia Alimazighi (University of
Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene, Bab-Ezzouar, Algeria)
As commonly agreed, Web services fall into two categories depending on
their functionality world-altering services and Data-as-a-Service
(DaaS). Much work has been done on automatic DaaS discovery and
composition, such as the query rewriting approach proposed by the
database community. In this context, DaaS is described as
Parameterized-RDF View over Domain Ontology (DO). However, the DO is
unable to capture the different perspectives or viewpoints for the same
domain knowledge. This limitation raises semantic conflicts between
pieces of data exchanged during DaaS composition process. Thus,
mediators are typically required to reconcile potential conflicts. In
this paper, the authors propose a service-based approach for
automatically inserting appropriate mediation services in DaaS
compositions to resolve incompatibilities in their data flow. Also, the
authors present a context-driven approach to support semantic mediation
between composed DaaSs. The implementation and the experimental
evaluations performed showed us satisfactory results.

Semantic Cloud: Building Dynamic Mashup in Cloud Environment
Abdelhamid Malki (Djillali Liabes University of Sidi Bel Abbes, Sidi Bel
Abbes, Algeria), Sidi Mohammed Benslimane (Djillali Liabes University of
Sidi Bel Abbes, Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria)
Mashups allowed a significant advance in the automation of interactions
between applications and Web resources. In particular, the combination
of web Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) is seen as a strength,
which can meet the complex needs by combining the functionality and data
from multiple services within a single Mashup application. Automating
the process of building Mashup based mainly on the Semantics Web APIs
which facilitate to the developer their selection and matching. In this
paper, we introduce reference architecture with six layers representing
the main functional blocks for annotating, combining and deploying Web
APIs in Cloud environment. We introduce Semantic Annotation for Web
Application Description Language (SAWADL), an extension of the Web
Application Description Language (WADL) that allows the semantization of
the REST Web Service. The proposed architecture uses the Cloud Computing
technology as a promising solution to increase the number of public API
and therefore making the engineering process of Mashup applications more
agile and more flexible.

Applying CBR Over an AI Planner for Dynamic Web Service Composition
Fouad Henni (LIO Laboratory Oran, University of Mostaganem, Algeria),
Baghdad Atmani (LIO Laboratory Oran, University of Oran, Algeria)
Web services have emerged as a major technology for deploying automated
interactions between distributed and heterogeneous applications. The
main advantage of Web services composition is the possibility of
creating value-added services by combining existing ones to achieve
customized tasks. How to combine these services efficiently into an
arrangement that is both functionally sound and architecturally
realizable is a very challenging topic that has founded a significant
research area within computer science. A great deal of recent
Web-related research has concentrated on dynamic Web service
composition. Most of proposed models for dynamic composition use
semantic descriptions of Web services through the construction of domain
ontology. In this paper, we present our approach to dynamically produce
composite services. It is based on the use of two Artificial
Intelligence (AI) techniques: Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) and AI
planning. Our motivating scenario concerns a national system for the
monitoring of childhood immunization.

Geo-Multi-Agent System Based Webmapping Approach Using Multiple
Representation and Generalisation Driven by Domain Ontology
Khalissa Derbal Amieur (Computer Science Department, University of
Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene, Bab Ezzouar, Algeria), Kamel
Boukhalfa (Computer Science Department, University of Sciences and
Technology Houari Boumediene, Bab Ezzouar, Algeria), Zaia Alimazighi
(Computer Science Department, University of Sciences and Technology
Houari Boumediene, Bab Ezzouar, Algeria)
Geographic Information (GI) is currently available at any time, from
anywhere on the surface of the earth, for any person connected to
internet. Some applications of design, implementation, generation and
dissemination of maps on the web are recognized as "Webmapping"
application, geographic web services or more generally on demand-map
making tools. All these web applications aims the satisfaction of user
needs by providing personalized maps in a fast response time with a good
quality. However, the complexity and diversity of aspects taking into
account have lead researchers to focus on one aspect at the expense of
others. Consequently, few works have addressed all these aspects
simultaneously. The authors propose in this paper, a Webmapping approach
organized into two main tasks: (1) query analysis driven by domain
ontology in analyzing a query launched by a user on a web browser and
(2) map generation process. The first step allows extracting and
formalizing user needs through two map determinants factors: the Level
of Detail (LoD) and Point of View (PoV) and the second, exploit an
hybrid approach "Multi Representation and Generalization" in storing and
generating geographical data with integrating Multi-Agent technology in
all steps of processing. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposal,
a first tool prototype implementing our approach is so developed using a
geographic vector dataset provided by national cartographic agency.

A Query Approximating Approach Over RDF Graphs
Ala Djeddai (LabGED Laboratory, Badji Mokhtar-Annaba University, Annaba,
Algeria), Hassina Seridi-Bouchelaghem (LabGED Laboratory, Badji
Mokhtar-Annaba University, Annaba, Algeria), Med Tarek Khadir (LabGED
Laboratory, Badji Mokhtar-Annaba University, Annaba, Algeria)
Regardless of the knowledge structure lack about Resource Description
Framework (RDF) data, difficulties, principally, occur in specifying and
answering queries. Approximate querying is the solution to find relevant
information by getting a set of sub structures (e.g. sub graphs)
matching the query. Approaches based on the structure and others based
on semantic, marginalized the common meaning between concepts in its
computing. In this paper in order to improve the approximation by
introducing the meaning similarity between components in the query and
RDF components is proposed, getting better need satisfaction. The
meaning similarity measure can be calculated using WordNet and used in
all steps of the query answering process. In addition, other important
properties in the approximation level calculation between query paths
and RDF paths are considered; besides indexing and optimizations
strategies are performed. Answers are a set of sub graphs ranked in
decreasing order on its matching degree. Experiments are conducted
within real RDF dataset.

Dear [Name],
Let me kindly inform you that the International Conference on Knowledge Management and Information Sharing (KMIS 2014 - http://www.kmis.ic3k.org/) steering committee cordially invites you to submit a paper to the KMIS 2014 Conference, to be held in Rome, Italy. The deadline for paper submission is scheduled for April 22, 2014.
Knowledge Management (KM) is a discipline concerned with the analysis and technical support of practices used in an organization to identify, create, represent, distribute and enable the adoption and leveraging of good practices embedded in collaborative settings and, in particular, in organizational processes. Effective knowledge management is an increasingly important source of competitive advantage, and a key to the success of contemporary organizations, bolstering the collective expertise of its employees and partners.
Information Sharing (IS) is a term used for a long time in the information technology (IT) lexicon, related to data exchange, communication protocols and technological infrastructures. Although standardization is indeed an essential element for sharing information, IS effectiveness requires going beyond the syntactic nature of IT and delve into the human functions involved in the semantic, pragmatic and social levels of organizational semiotics.
The two areas are intertwined as information sharing is the foundation for knowledge management.
KMIS 2014 is co-located with two related conferences in a joint conference (IC3K - http://www.ic3k.org/) format, namely:
- Knowledge Discovery and Information Retrieval (http://www.kdir.ic3k.org/)
- Knowledge Engineering and Ontology Development (http://www.keod.ic3k.org/)

Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, HICSS-48 2015
Minitrack: Â Design and Innovation of Social Networking Services
(Collaboration Systems and Technology track)
*INTRODUCTION*
Social networks are computer-mediated communities whose members share
common interests, needs or purposes. Consequently, most, if not all, of
the content, companionship and entertainment accessible from social
networks are dependent on the voluntary contributions of members. Unlike
formalized relationships however, social networks exercise little
authority and control over the behavior of members. For social networks
to prosper, they must therefore be proactive in delivering innovative
and value-added services that facilitate members in generating novel
content, maintaining community cohesion as well as providing advice and
mutual support to one another in times of need.
Social networking services embody both social and technical elements
that shape how members interact with one another. Whereas social
elements reflect communal policies that dictate the participatory
behaviors of members in social networks, technical elements refer to
actual technological functionalities, which support the enactment and
enforcement of these policies. The /design/ and /innovation/ of
social networking services thus play an instrumental role in determining
membersâ?? participation within such communities.
This minitrack embraces both retrospective and progressive views of how
social networking services have evolved and would transform with
technological advances. We welcome papers that identify and address
knowledge gaps in the design and innovation of social networking
services in response to emergent technologies. Papers that subscribe to
inter-disciplinary perspectives and/or adopt mixed methods are
particularly welcome.

Call for Papers
---------------
International Workshop on Personalised Multilingual Information Access
(PMIA 2014)
http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~steichen/PMIA2014
<http://www.cs.ubc.ca/%7Esteichen/PMIA2014>
held in conjunction with the 22nd Conference on User Modeling,
Adaptation and Personalization (UMAP 2014), Aalborg, Denmark, July 7-11,
2014.
--------
Overview
--------
With the unrelenting rise in global information production and usage,
systems increasingly need to handle 1) a growing variety of user
differences (including language, culture, situational context), and 2)
heterogeneous and multilingual information sources. This full-day
workshop aims tackle these challenges by bringing together researchers
working on cross-/multi-lingual information access, personalisation for
web and hypermedia, personalised search, information seeking,
multilingual interfaces, multilingual semantic web, and recommender
systems. The aim is to share, discuss, and combine ideas for novel
solutions that support users according to their particular language
abilities, as well as other characteristics (e.g. culture, domain
expertise) and contexts (e.g. intent, topic) that influence what and how
information should be retrieved, composed, and presented. The workshop
aims to both advance the current state of the art in personalised
multilingual information access, as well as to develop a detailed
roadmap that identifies the most pressing current and future research
challenges (e.g. novel information access interfaces, evaluation of
complex systems).
Themes of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
. Individual user characteristics that influence information access,
e.g. language proficiency, culture, personality, user intent, topic domain
. Modeling of user profiles, e.g. multilingual data collection, model
creation, model exploitation
. Adaptive systems for personalised multilingual information access,
e.g. personalised search, recommender systems
. Novel interfaces, e.g. presentations of content in multiple languages,
search result presentation beyond the ranked list paradigm, document
summarisation
. Tools and methods for multilingual and cross lingual search
. Content analysis and processing, e.g. knowledge extraction,
duplication detection
. Content translation and localisation
. Multilingual semantic web, including search and extraction
. External knowledge resources for personalised multilingual information
access (e.g. ontologies)
. Domain modeling (e.g. adaptation to different domains)
. Issues and dangers of personalisation, e.g. over-personalisation (also
known as "the filter bubble"), privacy issues
. Personalisation of multilingual tools
. Evaluation methods and metrics for personalised multilingual
information access, e.g. how to evaluate compositions from multiple
languages, aggregate search evaluation.
-----------
Submissions
-----------
We encourage submissions from diverse backgrounds and aim to promote the
exchange of ideas between researchers working in the above-mentioned
areas. In addition, submissions that focus on non-English data, or
research with a clear application in a multilingual scenario are equally
welcome. We invite submissions of more established ideas and methods as
long papers (8 pages), preliminary work as short papers (4 pages), and
demo/poster papers (2 pages). For full details on the submission format
and procedure, please refer to the Submission Instructions page at
http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~steichen/PMIA2014/submission.html
