BACKGROUND
Much has been written about the potential for high-impact design science research, based upon the paradigmís ability to generate applicable and relevant findings for practice. Yet the relationship between design science and practice extends beyond the publication and consumption of research. Many design science studies take place in the context of live individual or organisational projects, which require ongoing collaboration between the practitioners and researchers involved. This collaboration can facilitate a continuous and reciprocal knowledge sharing, as cutting-edge theoretical insights are applied in environments that are natural, complex, and evolving.
CALL FOR CONTRBUTIONS
The tenth DESRIST conference will bring together researchers and practitioners engaged in all aspects of design science research, with a special emphasis on nurturing the symbiotic relationship between design science researchers and practitioners. *Background*
The year was 1997 and a bunch of colleagues had gotten together in the
CSA Bar at Cranfield University, UK. The game of darts was in full
swing. An idea popped â?? how interesting would it be to organize a
Business Information Technology conference at a location where
traditionally such conferences never venture to be. Very quickly New
Delhi as a location was suggested. An email was sent to Professor Gordon
Davis at the University of Minnesota to be the inaugural keynote
speaker. And without much ado, we had an event at our hands. Professor
Rekha Jain of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad became the local
organizing chair.
In years to come the conference grew from strength to strength and
events were organized in South Africa, Egypt, Ecuador, Mexico among
other places. For the past few years though, BITWorld was co-hosted with
CITED in Nigeria, CoDE in Thailand and China and CISTM in India. The
next event is being decoupled from the co-hosts and will take place in
Las Vegas, Nevada on*Â May 19-21, 2015*. We look forward to carrying
forward a rich tradition of BITWorld events in 2015 and beyond. BITWorld
includes a full program of papers, presentations, keynotes and
publishing events, and aspires to bring together academics, researchers
and practitioners from all over the world to engage in dialogue and
exchange ideas on the latest developments and challenges in Information
Technology.
*Scope and Aims*
The conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners
interested in studying and discussing a range of leadership challenges
as these might relate to their particular businesses and industry. Such
dialogue will facilitate the development of agendas for further research
and development. We invite you to consider submitting your research
papers, workshop or tutorial proposals for consideration. Topics

The 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud
(FiCloud 2015)
24-26 August 2015, Rome, Italy
http://www.ficloud.org/2015/
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Internet of Things (IoT) vision is to provide a dynamic and global
network infrastructure which is characterized by intelligent and self
configuring capabilities. IoT is considered as an integral part of the
future Internet. It is based on interoperable communication protocols in
order to enable the interaction and integration of virtual as well as
physical Things such as computers, smart devices, sensors, cars,
refrigerators, food packages, medicines, etc. Things can be seamlessly
integrated into the information network and interaction can be made
through the provision of intelligent interfaces. In not so distant
future, IoT will be forcing its way into every aspect of our lives and
technologies including smart homes, smart cities, environment and
nature, green energy, food, medicine, automotive, aerospace and
aviation, telecommunication, and so on.
IoT is generally characterized by real world and small Things, limited
capacity, constrained devices and the consequential issues such as less
reliability, security and privacy. Cloud computing on the other hand
deals mainly with virtual world and has unlimited capabilities in terms
of storage and processing power. Thus cloud and IoT are the main
complementary aspects of the future Internet. IoT can benefit from the
unlimited capabilities and resources of cloud computing. Similarly,
cloud can benefit from IoT by extending its scope to deal with real
world things in a more distributed and dynamic manner.
The theme of this conference is to promote the state of the art in
scientific and practical research of the IoT and cloud computing. It
provides a forum for bringing together researchers and practitioners
from academia, industry, and public sector in an effort to present their
research work and share research and development ideas in the area of
IoT and cloud computing.

Special Issue on Knowledge-based Software Engineering
Journal: Science of Computer Programming. Elsevier. Impact Factor 0,548.
Knowledge-based technologies provide a consistent and reliable basis
to face the challenges for organization, manipulation and
visualization of the data and knowledge, playing a crucial role as the
technological basis of the development of a large number of
information systems. On the other hand, software engineering comprises
different processes and techniques that support the specification,
development, and maintenance of software. Knowledge-based software
engineering is focused in automating the software engineering life
cycle, software engineering resources which are shifting towards
knowledge acquisition and the automated reuse of expert knowledge for
developing software artifacts. Knowledge in software applications is
becoming more significant because the domains of many software
applications are inherently knowledge-intensive and this knowledge is
often not explicitly dealt with in software development. This impedes
maintenance and reuse. Moreover, it is generally known that developing
software requires expertise and experience, which are currently also
implicit and could be made more tangible and reusable using
knowledge-based or related techniques. Examples of approaches that are
directly related to this tendency are knowledge engineering,
ontologies, conceptual modeling, domain analysis and domain
engineering, business rules, workflow management, to mention but a
few.
Nowadays, enterprises handle different types of knowledge that are
often inter-related, and which must be managed in a consistent way.
For instance, software engineering involves the integration of various
knowledge sources that are in constant change. Therefore, tools and
techniques are necessary to capture and process knowledge in order to
facilitate subsequent development efforts, especially in the domain of
software engineering. With the use of new proposals on how using the
knowledge in a multitude of ways and in all phases of software
development can be advantageous.
This special issue aims at exploring the recent advances in the
application of knowledge-based technologies in Software Engineering
area soliciting original scientific contributions in the form of
theoretical foundations, case studies, techniques, tools, and
applications of knowledge-based software engineering theory and
practice.
The topics of this special issue include but are not limited to:
• Knowledge Representation in Software Engineering
• Knowledge Acquisition in Software Engineering
• Knowledge driven Software Engineering
• Case-based reasoning in Software Engineering
• Ontology Engineering in Software Engineering
• Semantic Interoperability
• Semantic Data Models
• Semantic Service Oriented Architectures
• Natural Language Processing applied to Software Engineering
• Applications and Case-studies
• Decision support methods for software engineering
• Development processes for knowledge-based applications
• Empirical/evaluation studies for knowledge-based applications
• Knowledge engineering for process management and project management
• Knowledge management for business processes, workflows and enterprise modeling
• Knowledge technologies for service-oriented systems, Internet of
services and Internet of things Knowledge-based methods and tools for
software engineering education
• Knowledge-based methods and tools for testing, verification and
validation, maintenance and evolution in software engineering
• Knowledge-based methods for software metrics
• Knowledge-based requirements engineering, domain analysis and modeling
• Methodology and tools for knowledge discovery and data mining

IMPORTANT DATES
Submissions open: October 6, 2014
Submission deadline: November 28, 2014 (strict and only deadline!)
Notification of acceptance: End of February, 2015
TRACK DESCRIPTION/THEME
The Accounting Information Systems track is interested in research on
the link between accounting with information technology and information
systems, in particular are highly encouraged research work on topics
that range from IT/IS governance, IT/IS risk assessment and IT/IS
compliance and their relationship.
In the last decade, all over the world, have been introduced a number of
laws, code of conducts, guidelines to aim at stimulating the disclosure
of companies? reporting, harmonization, transparency, efficiency and
effectiveness of information processes. The European Commission, as well
as other international organizations and institutions, played a central
role, forcing companies to comply with laws. Key initiatives have been
IAS/IFRS mandatory adoption, internal control systems over financial
reporting attestation, e-envoicing and so on.
It is very likely that this trend (i.e. the promulgation of growing
number initiatives to regulate, directly or indirectly, financial and
accounting information systems) will be carried out in the years to come.
This track is aimed at discovering how such trend affect accounting
information systems as well as skills and activities of accounting
professionals. Furthermore, it aims to encourage studies which highlight
if and how accounting professionals, accounting information systems,
accounting models may benefit from stimulus coming from mandatory
regulations. In fact AIS could plays an important role in supporting
companies to satisfy legal requirements. At the same time the adoption
of laws, in a substantial and not formal way; the need to avoid
compliance risks, and/or reputational risks and/or fraud risks could
trigger relevant changes in companies? IS/IT systems.
What are the risks and critical issues that emerge from this scenario?
Which are the consequent changes to the settled practices? Which are the
positive and strategic effects for firms, their accounting actors and
their decision support systems?
TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS
The track will cover a wide range of topics. Topics of interest include,
but are not limited to:
* AIS modeling and design,
* AIS ontology
* AIS for service accounting
* AIS and changes of information processes for compliance issues,
* XBRL, e-invoicing and compliance,
* IT governance, COSO, CobiT,
* Relationship between IT/IS governance and compliance with
accountants? role (Chief Financial Officer, Internal auditor,
Compliance officer, and so on),
* Relationships between AIS with internal control systems, risk
assessment and risk management systems,
* IS assurance, audit, continuous auditing, internal audit,
* IS evaluation, IT business value, IT/IS costs and benefits,
* IT audit and compliance
* AIS compliance, compliance metrics and compliance tools,
* Management control systems and compliance.
Perspectives from diverse fields such as computer science, business
informatics, information systems, accounting, psychology, sociology,
cognitive science, political science, behavioral science, service
science, design science, and economics as well as high-quality and
theoretically sound studies of any type (quantitative/qualitative
studies, action research, surveys, behavioral/experimental studies,
design science, case studies, theory development, etc.) are equally
encouraged. Papers are also welcome, bringing together researchers and
practitioners to improve different research perspectives on AIS.
Theoretical or empirical studies are equally encouraged as well as
different kind of research methodology. Completed research and
research-in-progress papers will be accepted.
