:: Call for Papers ::
Fourth International Service Modularity Seminar at the
University of Hamburg, Germany
January 23th-24th, 2013
:: Background of the Seminar ::
Research on service modularity is an emerging,
cross-disciplinary field of research. Therefore, this
seminar seeks to bring together developments in service
modularity andservice architecture from different
disciplines. The seminar is the fourth in a series
of successful workshops held in Copenhagen (2010), Helsinki
(2011) and London (2012).
:: Scope of the Seminar ::
The seminar is open to all researchers interested in the
service application of modular principles and practices. As
the topic is evolving, presentations and discussions on all
different viewpoints related to service modularity are welcome.
Especially PhD students and junior faculty are encouraged to
submit a paper, as the idea is to help them with their
research by providing the opportunity to get comments and
guidance from senior researchers.
:: Paper submissions ::
The deadline for an extended abstract (500-800 words)
is November 4th, 2012. After notification of acceptance,
contributors are expected to submit a full paper by December
16th, 2012.
The full paper can be of conceptual, theoretical and / or
empirical nature, and can either be a working document or a
recently published paper. It can also be either an effort of
an individual researcher or done in collaboration with a
research team. The idea is to bring together contributions
related to service modularity research on a wide range of
areas, from new ideas to more developed research.
In order to maximize the feedback for attendees, each
participant will also be expected to act as a discussant for
a maximum of two papers.
:: Contributors ::
While the senior faculty is very welcome to submit and
present contributions on their latest ideas and research on
the topic, their specific role will be to offer advice and
guidance for the younger scholars. Those who have already
committed to the programme include Professor Chris Voss
(London Business School), Professor Juliana Hsuan and
Assistant Professor Thomas Frandsen (Copenhagen Business
School), Dr Anu Bask, Professor Markku Kuhla and Mervi
Rajahonka (Aalto University, Helsinki), Dr Carolien de Blok
(Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research), Dr Des
Doran (Brunel University, London) and Professor Tuure
Tuunanen (University of Jyväskylä)
:: Program and venue ::
The seminar will be a two-day event and will be held at the
University of Hamburg, Germany. The program consists
of keynote speeches, paper presentation
sessions and discussions. Wealso suggest having a dinner
together at a nice and affordable restaurant in Hamburg. The
detailed program will be announced later.
:: Practicalities ::
The seminar is free of charge. However, the participants are
expected to cover their own travel, accommodation and other
living expenses. Details for accommodation and information
on how to get to the venue will be provided when the paper
acceptance process has been completed.
:: Registration ::
You can register by sending an e-mail to
doerbecker(a)informatik.uni-hamburg.de
<mailto:doerbecker@informatik.uni-hamburg.de>. The closing
date for registration is November 4th, 2012. If you wish to
present a paper at the seminar, please include your contact
information,research topic and an extended abstract of the
paper (500-800 words). Please note that all PhD students are
expected to give a presentation. If you are a senior
researcher and wish to participate without presenting a
paper, please include your contact information and research
topic.
