The first ICWL was held in Hong Kong in 2002. Since then, it has been held in Australia (2003), China (2004), Hong Kong (2005), Malaysia (2006), United Kingdom (2007), China (2008), Germany (2009), China (2010), Hong Kong (2011) and Romania (2012). ICWL 2013 will be the 12th ICWL conference and will be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The technical program will feature keynote addresses and workshops in addition to technical presentations of refereed papers. CALL FOR PAPERS The conference program consists of high quality technical papers that are reviewed and selected by an international program committee. All accepted papers presented at the conference will be published as a volume in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Papers for submission should be formatted according to the Springer LNCS Authors Guidelines and have maximum 10 pages. Since the review process will be double-blind, the submitted manuscript should not contain the authors' names, affiliations, or any information that may disclose the authors' identity. According to last years' tradition, a Best Paper Award and a Best Student Paper Award will be granted. The scope of the special issue includes research from cognitive science that employs Semantic Web technologies, ontologies, or Linked Data as well as semantic web research that takes inspiration from Cognitive Science findings and methods. We also invite work from domains that would benefit from a closer integration of cognitive science methods into the Semantic Web such as the digital humanities, bioinformatics, and GIScience. Submitted research may address a variety of topics including (but not limited to) reasoning, information retrieval and integration, personalization, context, patterns, user interfaces, spatial cognition, and learning. Such papers will be presented by the author in a round table discussion format at the conference. These papers need not be extensive. Typical length is about 1500-2000 words. Research papers: A research question or an argument is posed and subsequently conducted. Empirical work (quantitative or qualitative) is necessary. Research papers will be presented by the authors in a regular conference session. These papers should be extensive. Typical length is about 5000-6000 words. All research papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law (JDFSL). Case Studies: Case studies are typically descriptions of a given digital forensics situation. Names of organizations/actors can be kept anonymous to maintain confidentiality. Case studies will be presented by the authors at the conference. Typical length is about 5000-6000 words. All case studies will be considered for publication in the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law (JDFSL). Student Scholar Track: Up to six student papers will be selected for the Paraben Sponsored Student Scholar Track. Of the six papers, one will be selected for the Paraben Student Scholar Award. The primary author must be present at the conference. To participate, the primary author of the paper must be a student. The primary author must email the conference chair and specify that they wish their submitted paper to be considered for the Student Scholar track. Panels: Panels and workshop proposals are welcome. Typical length is about 1000 words long and covers a current technology or a controversial issue. *Participants* The primary audience will include individuals who are interested in developing curriculum and teaching methods as well as conducting research related to the areas of digital forensics, security, and law. This humongous pool of addresses ensure the continued expansion of the Internet for many decades to come and it realises the vision of everyday objects that are uniquely identifiable and are connected to the Internet -- this is commonly known as the "Internet-of-Things" (IoT). IoT extends the human-centric view of the Internet market space wherein it was thought that the "world of humans represented a market space that would reach saturation sometime soon" (Internet Society, 2012); IoT broadens the device-centric view that predominantly considered computing and electronic devices (e.g., PCs, mobile phones, home electronics, smart cars) as the defining elements of the Internet space. The IoT paradigm postulates that any physical object that is identified with a unique identifier (e.g., books tagged with RFID tags, QR codes or bar codes) will be considered as a smart object that is able to be interconnected, and billions and trillions of such smart objects will shape the new Internet space. The smart objects generate data that is accessible through the Internet and in realisation of this, IoT deals with integrating and enabling several technologies and communication protocols including wired and wireless communications, networking, tracking technologies, localisation, sensors and next generation Internet. However, the promising area of IoT also poses several challenges, for e.g., modelling and implementation issues such as architectures, interoperability, middleware, and so on. This CCPE special issue presents the opportunity to showcase recent research in IoT and it solicits high quality papers in advances of theoretical, experimental and practical nature.
