In nahezu allen Unternehmensbereichen sind unternehmensweite Anwendungssysteme wie ERP-Systeme in die betrieblichen Prozesse eingebunden. Da die laufenden Veränderungsprozesse in einem Unternehmen auch Auswirkungen auf deren Anwendungssysteme haben, haben in den letzten Jahren auch die Hersteller von Anwendungssystemen verschiedene Entwicklungsprozesse durchlaufen. Um den steigenden Anforderungen des Marktes gerecht zu werden, müssen Systeme in der Lage sein, sich an die laufenden Veränderungen anzupassen. Hierzu müssen innovative Ansätze und Konzepte entwickelt werden, um eine Flexibilität und Anpassungsfähigkeit der Anwendungssysteme sicherzustellen. Der Trend ging in den letzten Jahren vor allem in Richtung Spezialisierung. Dabei steht nicht mehr die ganzheitliche Abdeckung sämtlicher Funktionen mit nur einem System im Vordergrund. Vielmehr werden einzelne Bereiche durch Systeme abgedeckt, die sich auf die Anforderungen an die anfallenden Aufgaben spezialisiert haben, wie beispielsweise MES-Lösungen oder Qualitätssicherungssysteme für die Fertigung oder für bestimmte Unternehmensaufgaben spezialisierte Systeme (CRM, ECM oder SCM). Das Ergebnis dieser Entwicklung ist eine enorm heterogene Anwendungslandschaft im Unternehmen. Aspekte der Integration rücken dadurch stärker in den Vordergrund. Im Rahmen dieser Teilkonferenz sollen inhaltliche, methodische und technologische Probleme diskutiert werden, welche Auswirkungen auf die zukünftige Entwicklung von unternehmensweiten Anwendungssystemen haben.
