CPSCom 2011
The 4th IEEE International Conference on Cyber, Physical, and Social Computing
http://cpscom.org/
Sponsored by IEEE, IEEE CS, and IEEE TCSC
Dalian, China, October 19-22, 2011
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. INTRODUCTION
The physical things and the human society have formed into the world we live in. However, the emergence of information technologies enables a new infrastructure for a technical, economic and social revolution, which have changed the world we are used to. Cyber-physical systems couple the cyber aspects of computing and communications with the physical aspects of dynamics that must abide by the laws of physics. Social computing has become more widely known because of proliferation of online social networking in recent years. With the advent of ubiquitous sensing, future social networks will become cyber-physical, combining measured elements of the physical world. The convergence of computational and physical processes as well as human's social behaviors exhibits a variety of complicated characteristics, which leads to a lot of challenges.
The 2011 IEEE International Conference on Cyber, Physical, and Social Computing (CPSCom'11) will provide a high-profile, leading-edge forum for researchers, engineers, and practitioners to present state-of-art advances and innovations in theoretical foundations, systems, infrastructure, tools, testbeds, and applications for the CPSCom, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future. DESCRIPTION
In today's competitive and highly dynamic environment,
analyzing data to understand how the business is performing
and to predict outcomes and trends has become critial. The
traditional approach to reporting is no longer adequate,
users now demand easy-to-use intelligent platforms and
applications capable of analyzing real-time data to provide
insight and actionable information at the right time. The
end goal is to support better and timelier decision making,
enabled by the availability of up-to-date, high quality
information.
Although there has been progress in this direction and many
companies are introducing products towards meeting this
goal, there is still a long way to go. In particular, the
whole lifecycle of business intelligence requires new
techniques and methodologies capable of dealing with the new
requirements imposed by the new generation of BI
applications. From the capturing of real-time business data
to the transformation and delivery of actionable
information, all the stages of the Business Intelligence
(BI) cycle call for new algorithms and paradigms as the
basis of new functionalities including dynamic integration
of real-time data feeds from operational sources,
optimization and evolution of ETL transformations and
analytical models, and dynamic generation of adaptive
real-time dashboards, just to name a few.
The series of BIRTE workshops aims to provide a forum to
discuss topics related to this emerging field and set
research directions towards making business intelligence
more real-time. Following the success of BIRTE 2006 held in
Seoul, Korea in conjunction with VLDB 2006, BIRTE 2008 held
in Auckland, New Zealand in conjunction with VLDB 2008,
BIRTE 2009 held in Lyon, France in conjunction with VLDB

6th Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems
IS: Crossroads of Technology, People, Organizations and Markets
Limassol, Cyprus - September 3-5, 2011
Track: E-Commerce, E-Business, E-Government
===============================================================
===============================================================
E-commerce, e-business and e-government are pervasive phenomena in
modern society, having radically altered the way transactions are
performed. The virtual migration of transactional activities has given
rise to changing stakeholder expectations about the way organizations
function and the type of e-services being delivered. With the emergence
of novel technological innovations, such as cloud computing, green
computing, mobile applications, social networking, Software-as-a-Service
(SaaS) and Web 2.0, both public and private organizations have a much
larger arsenal of tools from which to innovate business practices and
deliver e-services that are sustainable, personalizable and responsive
to stakeholder needs.
This track embraces both retrospective and progressive views of how
e-commerce, e-business and e-government have evolved and would transform
with technological advances. We welcome papers that identify and address
knowledge gaps in: (1) the e-transformation of organizations (both
public and private) in an increasingly digital era, and/or;(2) the
development of e-service interfaces between organizations (both public
and private) and their stakeholders. Papers that subscribe to
inter-disciplinary perspectives,adopt mixed methods and/or address the
Mediterranean contextare particularly welcome.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* Cloud computing in e-service delivery
* Collaborative commerce
* E-service delivery in developing countries
* E-service failure and recovery
* E-service quality of e-commerce, e-business and/or e-government websites
* E-transformation of public and/or private organizations
* Evaluation of ICT investments for e-commerce, e-business and/or
e-government
* Hedonic design of e-commerce, e-business and/or e-government websites
* ICT service chains
* Interoperability in e-service delivery
* Mobile commerce
* Personalization of e-services
* Social networks and Web 2.0 in e-service delivery
* Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) in e-service delivery
* Sustainability issues in e-commerce, e-business and/or e-government
* Value (co)creation in e-commerce, e-business and/or e-government

SPECIAL ISSUE on Enterprise Engineering
International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design (IJISMD)
Submission Deadline: May 15, 2011
Guest Editor(s): Antonia Albani, Eduard Babkin, Junichi Iijima, and José Tribolet
INTRODUCTION:
Modern enterprises face a strong economical pressure to increase competitiveness, to operate
on a global market, and to engage in alliances of several kinds. But the vast majority of strategic
initiatives in enterprises fail, meaning that enterprises are unable to gain success from their
strategy. Abundant research indicates that the key reason for strategic failures is the lack of
coherence and consistency among the various components of an enterprise. At the same time,
the need to operate as a unified and integrated whole is becoming increasingly important.
These challenges are dominantly addressed from a functional or managerial perspective, as
advocated by management and organization science. Such knowledge is necessary and
sufficient for managing an enterprise, but it is inadequate for bringing about changes. To do
that, one needs to take a constructional or engineering perspective. Both organizations and
software systems are complex and prone to entropy. This means that in the course of time, the
costs of bringing about similar changes increase in a way that is known as combinatorial
explosion. Regarding information systems, this has been demonstrated; regarding
organizations, it is still a conjecture. Entropy can be reduced and managed effectively through
modular design based on atomic elements. The people in an enterprise are collectively
responsible for the operation (including management) of the enterprise. In addition, they are
collectively responsible for the evolution of the enterprise (adapting to needs for change). These
responsibilities can only be borne if one has appropriate knowledge of the enterprise.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE:
It is the mission of the discipline of Enterprise Engineering to develop new, appropriate theories,
models, methods and other artifacts for the analysis, design, implementation, and governance
of enterprises by combining (relevant parts of) management and organization science,
information systems science, and computer science. The ambition is to address (all) traditional
topics in said disciplines from the Enterprise Engineering Paradigm. The result of the efforts
should be theoretically rigorous and practically relevant.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS:
Topics relevant for submissions include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Enterprise Ontology
* Enterprise Architecture
* Enterprise Governance
* Modeling (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Reference models for (cross-enterprise) business processes
* Domain reference ontologies
* Business rules
* Information systems development
* Information system ontologies
* Information system architectures
* Component-based system development
* Ontology-based web services
* Interoperability testing and verification
* Service Oriented Architecture
* Enterprise modeling and simulation
* Organizational modeling and simulation
* Business process modeling and simulation
* Collaborative, Participative, and Interactive Modeling.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on
Enterprise Engineering on or before May 15, 2011. All submissions must be original and may
not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT
THE JOURNAL'S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at
http://www.igi-global.com/Files/AuthorEditor/guidelinessubmission.pdf. All submitted papers will be
reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference
citations.
MISSION OF IJISMD:
The mission of the International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design (IJISMD) is
to provide an international forum for modeling experts and design professionals for exchanging
innovative ideas. IJISMD enables presentation of original work in the development of models for
business alignment with computerized services in order to make both organizational and
technical systems more effective. It especially focuses on semantic integrity between business
process and data, as well as on new methods for identification of semantic inconsistency,
incompleteness, redundancy, and ambiguity of information system specifications. Targeting
researchers, practitioners, and academicians, this journal promotes innovative findings in
emerging disciplines of informatics on enterprise system modeling, design, integration, and
evolution.
This journal is an official publication of the Information Resources Management Association

CALL FOR PAPERS
===================================================================
The Third International Workshop on e-Healthcare Information Security
(e-HISec 2011)
http://www.comp.dit.ie/e-hisec2011
====================================================================
To be Hosted in conjuction with
The International Conference on Information Society (i-Society 2011)
June 27-29, 2011, London, UK
http://www.i-society.eu
====================================================================
Paper submission deadline: April 15, 2011
====================================================================
In recent years substantial budgets have been and are being committed
towards e-healthcare.
For example, as part of the stimulus package the Obama administration is
going to spend 19
Billion dollars in healthcare. A significant part of this budget will be
spent on making sure
that all Americans have Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs) by 2014.
The move towards e-health
care is envisaged to reduce the cost of provision of healthcare, improve
quality of care and
reduce medical errors. Despite all these advantages the security
concerns are real and going to
increase as the rate we digitise information and use the web increases.
Major security issues
include patient privacy, trust, and quality-assurance. Security concerns
are affecting the adoption
rate and usage of e-healthcare information systems. Unless deliberate
efforts are taken to secure
these systems from design to implementation most of the development
achieved to date may not be
realised and rolled out to the real world.
This workshop will bring together researchers and industry participants
who are involved either in
the design, development, and implementation of novel secure e-healthcare
Information systems or in
the research that addresses the key questions in the enhancement of
privacy and security of e-health
care information. We expect the work to be presented in this workshop to
address security and privacy
problems and solutions that can be used in distributed and heterogeneous
computer systems as well as
in mobile devices, which will characterise the emerging e-healthcare
environment.
The security and privacy issues in e-healthcare Information Systems that
are covered in this workshop
are also becoming important now in digital information management in
general. These issues will also
have significant effect in other emerging application areas such as
cloud computing. We, therefore,
welcome original, high-quality research contributions that advance the
state-of-the-art in the design,
development, deployment, evaluation and understanding of secure
e-healthcare information systems.
TOPICS OF INTEREST INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
==============================================
* Electronic Patient Records
* Federated Electronic Health Records
* Privacy concerns in e-healthcare information systems
* Privacy enhancing technologies in healthcare
* Security in e-healthcare information systems
* Trust concerns in e-healthcare information systems
* Models for Privacy and Trust
* Security and privacy standards for e-healthcare information systems
* Design principles of secure context-aware e-healthcare information systems
* How security addresses the legal and ethical issues in emerging
e-healthcare information
systems
* Frameworks for evaluation of e-healthcare systems
* Tools and techniques for designing, developing, implementing and
evaluating e-healthcare
information systems
* Challenges in building secure e-healthcare information systems
* Interoperability issues in e-healthcare
* Business intelligence in healthcare

The 12th IEEE International Conference on Information
Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI-2011)
Tuscany Suites& Casino, Las Vegas, USA
August 3-5, 2011
http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~iri2011/
Given the emerging global Information-centric IT landscape that
has tremendous social and economic implications, effectively
processing and integrating humongous volumes of information from
diverse sources to enable effective decision making and knowledge
generation have become one of the most significant challenges of
current times. Information Reuse and Integration (IRI) seeks to
maximize the reuse of information by creating simple, rich, and
reusable knowledge representations and consequently explores
strategies for integrating this knowledge into systems and
applications. IRI plays a pivotal role in the capture, representation,
maintenance, integration, validation, and extrapolation of
information; and applies both information and knowledge for
enhancing decision-making in various application domains.
This conference explores three major tracks: information reuse,
information integration, and reusable systems. Information
explores theory and practice of optimizing representation; information
integration focuses on innovative strategies and algorithms for
applying integration approaches in novel domains; and reusable
systems focus on developing and deploying models and corresponding
processes that enable Information Reuse and Integration to play a
pivotal role in enhancing decision-making processes in various
application domains.
The IEEE IRI conference serves as a forum for researchers and
practitioners from academia, industry, and government to present,
discuss, and exchange ideas that address real-world problems with
real-world solutions. Theoretical and applied papers are both included.
