Betreff: [WI] Call for Papers: INFORMATIK 2010 - Workshop
"Wissensmanagement als Voraussetzung für erfolgreiche kundenorientierte
Services. Das Zusammenspiel von Technik und Mensch"
Datum: Tue, 23 Mar 2010 08:26:18 +0100

WM-Lösungen in Dienstleistungsunternehmen
Wissenstransfer.

Background
==========
The new International Conference on IT-enabled Innovation in Enterprise
aims to provide a premier forum for the presentation and discussion of
business and organisational innovation associated with Information
Technology (IT).
In a global and interconnected economy of the 21st century innovation
management is an important aspect for enterprise sustainability and
survival. Over the last years the topic has attracted large interest
from research and practitioners alike. An organisation’s competitive
advantage depends on the ability of its people, processes, and systems
to manage innovation and seek sustainability. Innovation Management has
been discussed and examined from a variety of perspectives, including
behavioural, managerial, strategic and technological. In this regard,
information technology and technology innovation are frequently referred
as enablers and facilitators of innovation.
With this conference we intend to complement the mostly behavioural and
technology centred discussion on innovation. The aim of this conference
is to examine how information technology enables and generates
innovation and thus provides value to enterprises. The goal of this
conference is to discuss and share best practices, experiences, models,
methods and tools for innovation and enterprise renewal.
The conference seeks contributions on real-world business and
organisational applications, management concepts, models, methods and
tools associated with information technology enabled innovation. In this
regard, we encourage the submission of design science research for
innovation management in the form of constructs, models, methods and
instantiations. In-line with the aim of this conference, contributions
must highlight the value and innovation driven by information technology
in enterprise.
The idea of the conference is to provide a forum and platform for both
researchers and practitioners to exchange knowledge, ideas and to learn
from each other. Practitioners and researchers present findings and
experience. In addition to the official program, there is plenty of
opportunity for informal discussions and networking.
We invite contributions from industry, academia and collaborative

*Introduction***
e-Learning plays a significant role in education, and its importance
increases day by day. Learning environments can take a myriad of
distinct forms. Learning Management Systems emerge as an important
platform to support effective learning environments. Furthermore with
the rising of Web 2.0, learning environments are also overflowing
Learning Management Systems and Institutions' boundaries.
Learning Management Systems (LMS) are used all over Higher Education
Institutions (HEI) and the need to know and understand its adoption and
usage arises. However, there is a lack of information about how LMSs are
being used, which are the most adopted, whether there is a country
adoption standard and which countries use more LMSs.
On one hand, there are different institutional cultures and
characteristics and, on the other hand, there are several distinct LMS
tools, it is expected to find out distinct experiences. The richness of
each of the experiences can help the worldwide community to better
understand how well LMS are being used.

End-User Software Engineering and Why it Matters
Margaret Burnett, Oregon State University, USA
End-user programming has become ubiquitous; so much so that there are
more end-user programmers today than there are professional programmers.
End-user programming empowers-but to do what? Make bad decisions based
on bad programs? Enter software engineering's focus on quality.
Considering software quality is necessary, because there is ample
evidence that the programs end users create are filled with expensive
errors. In this paper, we consider what happens when we add
considerations of software quality to end-user programming environments,
going beyond the "create a program" aspect of end-user programming. We
describe a philosophy of software engineering for end users, and then
survey several projects in this area. A basic premise is that end-user
software engineering can only succeed to the extent that it respects
that the user probably has little expertise or even interest in software
engineering.

All software today is written using application programming interfaces
(APIs). We performed a user study of the online documentation of a large
and complex API for Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (eSOA),
which identified many issues and recommendations for making API
documentation easier to use. eSOA is an appropriate testbed because the
target users include high-level business experts who do not have
significant programming expertise and thus can be classified as
"end-user developers." Our study showed that the participants'
background influenced how they navigated the documentation. Lack of
familiarity with business terminology was a barrier for developers
without business application experience. Both groups avoided areas of
the documentation that had an inconsistent visual design. A new design
for the documentation that supports flexible navigation strategies seems
to be required to support the wide range of users for eSOA. This paper
summarizes our study and provides recommendations for future
documentation for APIs.

PAPER THREE
End User Development and Meta-Design
Gerhard Fischer, University of Colorado, USA
The first decade of the World Wide Web predominantly enforced a clear
separation between designers and consumers. New technological
developments, such as the participatory Web 2.0 architectures, have
emerged to support social computing. These developments are the
foundations for a fundamental shift from consumer cultures (specialized
in producing finished goods) to cultures of participation (in which all
people can participate actively in personally meaningful activities).
End-user development and meta-design provide foundations for this
fundamental transformation. They explore and support new approaches for
the design, adoption, appropriation, adaptation, evolution, and sharing
of artifacts by all participating stakeholders. They take into account
that cultures of participation are not dictated by technology alone:
they are the result of incremental shifts in human behavior and social
organizations. The design, development, and assessment of five
particular applications that contributed to the development of our
theoretical framework are described and discussed.

2010 ACM Symposium on Computer-Human Interaction for the Management of
Information Technology (CHIMIT '10) http://chimit10.org
November 12-13, 2010
San Jose, CA USA
Co-located with the 24th USENIX Large Installation System Administration
Conference (LISA '10) http://www.usenix.org/events/lisa10/
---------1st CALL FOR PAPERS (3 months to deadline)--------------
Since 2007, CHIMIT has been the leading forum for discussing topics on
IT management with a focus on people, business, and technology. At
CHIMIT, researchers and practitioners share issues, solutions, and
research drawing upon fields such as human-computer interaction, human
factors, collaborative work, computer systems, and management and
service sciences to address cognitive, social, and technical issues in
managing the increasing complexity of modern Information Technology (IT)
systems.
Information Technology (IT) is central to modern life. From our homes to
our largest enterprises, we are surrounded by software and hardware
components that support our work and personal lives: wireless access
points, network routers, firewalls, virus scanners, databases, web
servers, storage and backup systems, etc. These components exist to
permit us to do other things, e.g., manage inventory, communicate with
friends or customers, sell products through websites, yet all too often
managing the underlying IT infrastructure takes time and resources away
from the real work at hand. IT systems have grown increasingly complex
over the years, and the cost for keeping the infrastructure running is
now a significant burden. We are at a turning point where further
advances in technology and business efficiency and growth require
fundamentally new approaches to IT system design, management, and services.
CHIMIT is an ACM-sponsored conference, and accepted Paper and Short
Paper submissions will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. We are
also soliciting submissions for Panels, Courses, and a non-archival
Poster Session for work in progress.
Suggested Topics
==============
- User Studies of IT infrastructure management in context, exposing user
needs, pain points, work practices, and examples of both successful and
unsuccessful work.
-Design - approaches to bring about improved, human-centered IT systems.
-Experimental Studies on the usage of new or existing IT systems.
-Tools and Techniques for improved administration, e.g., visualizations
of system behavior, or collaborative interfaces.
-Automation approaches to reduce administration workload or improve
productivity.
-Computer supported cooperative work – how do those who manage an
organization’s IT interact with the users they support, their technical
community, and other stakeholders?
-Organizational Knowledge - how can shared knowledge improve IT management.
-Processes and Practices - examples of best practices and improved
processes in IT management.
-New Technologies - how will the changing technological landscape (e.g.,
Cloud Computing, pervasive mobile devices, etc.) affect IT management?
-IT Beyond the Enterprise - what are the implications now that we're
doing backups, network configuration, etc. in the home?

-------- Extended deadline for paper submission: April 05, 2010
--------
Dear Prof./Dr./Mrs./Mr.,
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their manuscript electronically at the Conference webpage (http://centeris.eiswatch.org) until April 05, 2010.
--------
-------- Submission and Publications
All accepted full papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings to be published by Springer-Verlag in a book of the CCIS series (Communications in Computer and Information Science), which is listed in the ISI proceedings index.
Additionally, and according to the reviewers? recommendations, authors of selected papers will be invited to enhance the paper for publication in several international journals.
Submissions will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
Only original contributions will be accepted.
--------
-------- Hotel and travel arrangements
The Conference will take place at Flôr de Sal Hotel in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, a 4-star Hotel, health club& SPA, located in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Portugal. Viana do Castelo is Portugal?s northernmost Atlantic City, with a privileged location due to the joint presence of river, sea and mountains. Its Atlantic coast is part of the Natural Park of the North Coast, a protected area of great beauty, and it is located in a wonderful historic and cultural region with three locations/zones proclaimed as UNESCO cultural World Heritage
Located 75 km north of the Oporto International Airport ?Francisco Sa Carneiro?, it is connected by the highway A28. We suggest getting the subway and a train which cost would be around 8 Euros (one way), taking about 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Hotel, or a taxi which takes 45 minutes.
