---------------
Track "Warehousing and OLAPing Complex, Spatial and Spatio-Temporal
Data" (http://si.deis.unical.it/~cuzzocrea/WOCD2010/) of the LNCS 14th
East-European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information
Systems (ADBIS 2010) (http://perun.im.ns.ac.yu/adbis2010/index.php),
September 20-24, 2010, Novi Sad, Serbia.
Selected papers from the session will be invited for submission to a
special issue of Fundamenta Informaticae
(http://fi.mimuw.edu.pl/index.php/FI), IOS Press (http://www.iospress.nl/).
Aim and Scope
-------------
Complex, spatial and spatio-temporal data arise in a plethora of modern
database and data mining applications and complex information systems.
Complex, spatial and spatio-temporal data require more and more for
effective and efficient models, algorithms and techniques for
representing, managing, querying, indexing and discovering useful
knowledge beyond such kind of data. A successful solution to issues
above consists in applying well-consolidated methodologies coming from
the Data Warehousing and OLAP research area. This allows us to take
advantages from several nice amenities supported by Data Warehousing and
OLAP, such as multidimensional and multi-resolution representation and
analysis, multidimensional aggregations, hierarchy-based data
representation and mining, complex query answering tools, and so forth.
Application fields where Data Warehousing and OLAP over complex, spatial
and spatio-temporal data have already demonstrated their success are
many-fold. Among these, an unrestricted list is the following one:
Warehousing and OLAPing Complex Database Objects; Warehousing and
OLAPing Objects derived from Software Systems; Warehousing and OLAPing
Data Streams; Warehousing and OLAPing Sensor Network Data; Warehousing
and OLAPing RFID Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Sequence Data;
Warehousing and OLAPing Graph Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Sample Data;

Warehousing and OLAPing RDF Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Unstructured
Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Semi-Structured Data; Warehousing and
OLAPing Ontological Datasets; Warehousing and OLAPing Hierarchical Data;
Warehousing and OLAPing Heterogenous-In-Nature Data; Warehousing and
OLAPing Scientific Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Microarray Data;
Warehousing and OLAPing Biological Data; Warehousing and OLAPing
Medical/Clinical Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Statistical Data;
Warehousing and OLAPing Financial Data; Warehousing and OLAPing
E-Commerce Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Business Process Data;
Warehousing and OLAPing Workflow Data; Warehousing and OLAPing Mining
Results; Warehousing and OLAPing Probabilistic Data; Warehousing and
OLAPing Uncertain and Imprecise Data; Warehousing and OLAPing
Distributed Data; Warehousing and OLAPing P2P Data; Warehousing and
OLAPing Grid Datasets; Warehousing and OLAPing Cloud Datasets;
Warehousing and OLAPing Mobile Data.
As orthogonal to these emerging research contexts, a number of research
challenges are capturing the attention of a large community of
researchers. Among these, we recall: models, algorithms and techniques
for warehousing and OLAPing complex, spatial and spatio-temporal data;
ETL approaches for warehousing and OLAPing complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data; data integration approaches for warehousing and
OLAPing complex, spatial and spatio-temporal data; data cleaning
approaches for warehousing and OLAPing complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data; storage issues of warehousing and OLAPing complex,
spatial and spatio-temporal data; privacy-preserving issues of

spatio-temporal data in warehouse and OLAP environments; models,
algorithms and techniques for managing complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data in warehouse and OLAP environments; models,
algorithms and techniques for querying complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data in warehouse and OLAP environments; models,
algorithms and techniques for indexing complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data in warehouse and OLAP environments; models,
algorithms and techniques for mining complex, spatial and
spatio-temporal data in warehouse and OLAP environments.
The Track Warehousing and OLAPing Complex, Spatial and Spatio-Temporal
Data of the 14th East-European Conference on Advances in Databases and
Information Systems (ADBIS 2010)
(http://perun.im.ns.ac.yu/adbis2010/index.php), to be held in Novi Sad,

Betreff: CFP on "Design and Research" in Artificial and Natural Sciences
Datum: Thu, 25 Mar 2010 09:52:46 -0400
Von: DRANS 2010 <drans(a)mail.sysconfer.org>
An: <NEUMANN(a)WU-WIEN.AC.AT>
Dear G. Neumann:
As you know the Nobel Laureate Herbert Simon affirmed that design is an essential ingredient of the Artificial Sciences Ranulph Glanville, president of the American Society for Cybernetics and expert in design theory, affirms that "Research is a variety of design. So do research as design? Design is key to research. Research has to be designed." An increasing number of authors are stressing the relationships between Design and Research. Design is a mean for Research, and Research is a mean for Design. Design and research are related via cybernetic loops in the context of means-ends logic. Consequently, we invite you to submit a paper/abstract and/ot to organize an invited session in the International Symposium on Design and Research in the Artificial and the Natural Sciences: DRANS 2010 (http://www.sysconfer.org/drans) which is being organized in the context of The 14th World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics:
WMSCI 2010 (http://www.sysconfer.org/wmsci), 2010 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
The deadlines of DRANS 2010 are the following:
Papers/Abstracts Submissions and Invited Sessions Proposals: April 14th, 2010
Authors Notifications: May 5th, 2010
Camera-ready, full papers: May 26th, 2010
You can also submit your abstract-paper to another area or any of the following conjoined events (check the respective web site for the deadlines)
=======================================================
The SUMMER 4th International Conference on Knowledge Generation, Communication and Management: KGCM 2010 (www.sysconfer.org/kgcm)
The 3rd, International Symposium on Academic Globalization: AG 2010 (www.sysconfer.org/ag)
The 2nd International Symposium on Peer Reviewing: ISPR 2010 (www.sysconfer.org/ispr)
The 3rd International Multi-Conference on Engineering and Technological Innovation: IMETI 2010 (www.sysconfer.org/imeti)
=======================================================
Participants in any conference can attend the sessions of other collocated conferences, and will receive electronic proceedings, in a CD, which includes the papers presented at all conferences and symposia.
Submissions for Face-to-Face or for Virtual Participation are both accepted. Both kinds of submissions will have the same reviewing process and the accepted papers will be included in the same proceedings.
Pre-Conference and Post-conference Virtual sessions (via electronic forums) will be held for each session included in the conference program, so that sessions papers can be read before the conference, and authors presenting at the same session can interact during one week before and after the conference. Authors can also participate in peer-to-peer reviewing in virtual sessions.
All Submitted papers/abstracts will go through three reviewing processes: (1) double-blind (at least three reviewers), (2) non-blind, and (3) participative peer reviews. These three kinds of review will support the selection process of those papers/abstracts that will be accepted for their presentation at the conference, as well as those to be selected for their publication in JSCI Journal.
Authors of accepted papers who registered in the conference can have access to the evaluations and possible feedback provided by the reviewers who recommended the acceptance of their papers/abstracts, so they can accordingly improve the final version of their papers. Non-registered authors will not have access to the reviews of their respective submissions.
Registration fees of an effective invited session organizer will be waived according to the policy described in the web page (click on 'Invited Session', then on 'Benefits for the Organizers of Invited Sessions'), where you can get information about the ten benefits for an invited session organizer. For Invited Sessions Proposals, please visit the conference web site, or directly to www.sysconfer.org/drans/organizer.asp
Authors of the best 10%-20% of the papers presented at the conference (included those virtually presented) will be invited to adapt their papers for their publication in the Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics.
Best regards,
Conference Organizing Committee
