Description
=================
Unfortunately, information technology (IT) projects have become
notorious for high failure rates
or having significant cost or budget overruns. Both research and
anecdotal evidence suggests
that many IT projects struggle to meet functionality and quality
targets. Research has identified
multiple reasons for these challenges in IT projects, such as: project
escalation, poor risk
management, failure to manage user expectations, poor software
development or project
management processes, or inability to learn from past mistakes and
successes. As a research
community, there is still much to be learned and discussed about
improving success rates for IT
projects.

Call for Papers- Special Issue on "Issues and Challenges of the
Diffusion of Web 2.0 on User Privacy and Security"
Journal of Information Privacy and Security
http://jips.cob.tamucc.edu/
Scope of special issue
Web 2.0 technologies are transforming how people interact, communicate
and exchange information. Web 2.0 tools include blogs, wikis, social
networking sites, twitter, Flickr, youtube, virtual worlds etc. Web 2.0
provides great value to both individuals and businesses. Individuals can
easily connect, interact and generate new content, and businesses are
leveraging Web 2.0 to advertise and market products to users. There are
millions of users using Web 2.0 tools to create and share content on
blogs, wikis, YouTube, Flickr, del.icio.ous and other social networking
sites. This use of Web 2.0 applications increases the amount of
information that is provided by individuals. This information is a gold
mine for businesses that need to extend their reach to consumers.
The eruptive growth of Web 2.0 applications has raised concerns for user
privacy and security. As millions of users provide and exchange
information on the Internet using Web 2.0 tools, there are concerns
about how their personal information is collected and used. The impact
of Web 2.0 technologies on user privacy and security is a major issue
impacting businesses, researchers, users and policy makers alike.
This special issue will provide a forum to share research related to
issues and challenges of the diffusion of web 2.0 on user privacy and
security. The issues and challenges of the diffusion of web 2.0 on user
privacy can be addressed from multiple perspectives. For example, one
can research the issues and challenges from an individual's perspective,
organizational perspective, society perspective, or government
perspective. Each perspective presents unique issues that can be
examined or challenges that need to be addressed. In the following
paragraphs we list potential questions that can be addressed in this
context.
Individual Perspective: Do people care? Do people know? Do people
understand? Does age matter? Does culture impact people understanding
or attitude?
Organizational Perspective: Do organizations do a good job of informing
users on privacy policies? Do organizations solicit feedback on their
privacy policies? Do organizations educate (train) employees on
consumer privacy? How do organizations leverage shared on social
networks?
Society Perspective: How does the diffusion of web 2.0 impact privacy
issues in society? How has societal perspective on privacy transformed
with the evolution of web 2.0? Are there any differences in how
societies around the world view the impact of web 2.0 on privacy and
security?
Government Perspective: What policies and laws are needed to address
privacy and security issues in the context of web 2.0? What role should
national governments play in drafting policies and laws to address these
issues? What unique challenges and opportunities does this create for
governments around the world?
Submission guidelines
The submitted papers must be written in English and describe original
research which is not published nor currently under review by other
journals or conferences. Please check the journal website
(http://jips.cob.tamucc.edu/) for details on submission guidelines.

Background and Goals:
--------------------
Business process management (BPM) technologies are considered as one of
the key success stories in providing process control and monitoring
functions, and addressing complex integration requirements in enterprise
systems. However, the expectation of what this technology must deliver
is a moving target. Whereas the success of coordinative processes
depends upon the conformance to the prescribed control flow, the success
of the collaborative process depends upon the ability to detect and
react to changing conditions. What was true for workflow systems is no
longer acceptable in the dynamic and cross organizational requirements
for management of collaborative processes. The trend is going towards
agile, responsive, and (self-)adaptive business processes which are able
to make use of existing context information in order to align to
changing business requirements.
BPM has become a very extensive area with several specialized aspects.
This workshop intends to provide a forum wherein challenges in flexible,
context-aware, and collaborative business process management can be
debated. We seek papers that present innovative technology solutions to
these challenges based on well justified practical assumptions and sound
theoretical foundations.
Submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of significance,
originality, technical quality, and exposition. Papers should clearly
establish the research contribution, and relation to previous research.
Position and survey papers are also welcome.
Topics of interest:
-------------------
We particularly solicit approaches to context-aware, agile, responsive,
and adaptive business processes. Below we provide a list of relevant
topics, however papers outside these topics but within the general scope
of the workshop scope will still be considered.
• Context-aware business processes
• Adaptive process management
• Context modeling (e.g., ontologies, rule-based approaches)
• Knowledge and task management in (collaborative) processes
• Self-adapting / self-healing business processes
• Technologies for modeling and analysis of (collaborative) processes
• Interactive approaches for end-user engagement and visualization of
business processes (can include Web 2.0)
• Event driven process management
• Collaboration modeling using game theory and/or social networks
(wisdom of crowds) in Business Process Management
• Usability and technology adoption of BPM solutions
• Exception Handling in BPM
• Patterns for context-aware BPM
Format of the Workshop:
----------------------
The workshop will consist of oral presentations, discussions, and
invited talks. The workshop will also provide opportunity for demo
sessions, where presenters can showcase advanced prototypes based on
their research.
Submission of Papers
All papers must be written in English, and the length of the paper
should not exceed 5,000 words or 10 pages (including figures and
tables). Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex
format) are available at the ICEIS web site. Papers (in PDF format)
should be submitted online through the ICEIS online submission system
(http://www.insticc.org/Primoris/). In addition, an email must be sent
to all workshop chairs including: title, authors' affiliation, and an
abstract of the paper submitted.
Workshop Proceedings:
--------------------
All accepted papers will be published in workshop proceedings book with
an ISBN#, which will be printed by INSTICC Press. The proceedings will
be available at the time of the workshop.
Important Dates:
-----------------
Paper Submission: March 8, 2010
Author Notification: April 6, 2010
Final Camera-Ready and Registration: April 21, 2010

IEEE International Symposium on Policies for
Distributed Systems and Networks (POLICY 2010)
CALL FOR PAPERS
July 21-23 2010
George Mason University, USA
http://www.ieee-policy.org
The symposium brings together researchers and practitioners working on
policy-based systems across a range of application areas including
policy-based networking, privacy and security management, storage area
networking, and enterprise systems. POLICY 2010 has grown out of a
highly successful series of workshops and this is recognized by the
elevation of the event to an IEEE symposium.
This year's event will have a special focus on policy-driven real-life
applications, and we encourage submissions in this area as well as the
topics listed below. The symposium will include demonstrations of
innovative policy-based systems, and authors are invited to submit
demonstration descriptions, as described below. In addition, authors of
all accepted papers will be invited to accompany their presentation with
an optional demonstration.
In addition to the main technical programme, POLICY 2010 will feature a
special session devoted to the demonstrations of innovative policy based
systems.
POLICY 2010 invites novel contributions on all aspects of policy-based
management. Papers must describe original work and must not have been
accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. Submitted papers will
be evaluated for technical contribution, originality, and significance.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
- Privacy and Security
- Policy Models and Languages
- Policy Applications
For a complete description of the topics of interest, please see
http://www.ieee-policy.org/cfp.html.
System demonstration submissions will be evaluated on the basis of their
technical merit and novelty. Of particular interest are systems that
illustrate research contributions and innovative applications of policy
based technologies. Those interested in demonstrating a system /
application should submit a description following the instructions in
the System Submission Section. Commercial products are eligible, but
sales and marketing activities are not appropriate.
