Almost every company today is trying to find out how best to use
proprietary and shared infrastructures to link with its customers,
suppliers, partners and employees to create superior economic value, as
well as competitive advantage. Such IT-enabled business transformation
entails tight realignment of business strategy with IT strategy, setting up
the necessary infrastructure, streamlining front-end and back-end business
processes, managing new relationships and partnerships, and taking into
consideration emerging global issues. The emphasis is increasingly shifting
from improving operational efficiency to creating economic value across the
entire extended value chain, often including several tiers of suppliers and
customers.
The special issue will focus on these developments and will address the
underlying issues surrounding (e)business transformation. Contributions
addressing the conceptual and theoretical evolution of these developments
are encouraged as well.
Submissions are invited in the following areas:
· IT-business strategy linkages
· Evolutionary models
· Organisational alignment
· IT infrastructure
· Relationship management
· Enterprise management
· Supply chain management
· Economics of transformation
· Implementation issues
· Legal issues
· Global issues
There is no preference for any particular research methodology. Case
studies, surveys, as well as conceptual papers are all welcome.
Please send your submissions to Ali Farhoomand by May 15, 2002.
