:
: INTRODUCTION:
:
: By the time the first symposium "From Agent Theory to Agent
: Implementation" was held in April 1998, agent-based technology had
: already made a fast inroad from highly specialised workshops on topics
: such as situatedness, embeddedness, or BDI agents to mainstream
: textbooks.
:
: In the meantime, this rapid progress has continued and, as many
: report, even speeded up. Commercialisation of agent technology has
: started and is well underway.
:
: Still, there remains a considerable lack of clarity regarding the
: relationship between theoretic models of agents and multiagent systems
: on the one hand, and the implementation of these models and
: architectures in real-world applications on the other.
:
: The main objective of this symposium is to foster the exchange of
: ideas and experience among researchers and practitioners working on
: theoretical and application-oriented issues of agent technology,
: covering both the micro and macro aspects of agent design.
:
: Of particular relevance to the symposium is work that provides
: insights on experiences and lessons learnt when applying specific
: agent theories or architectures to application problems, and that
: discusses methods and methodologies that can help system designers to
: successfully accomplish the mapping between available agent technology
: on the one hand, and application problems on the other.
:
: Topics of interest therefore include:
:
: Conceptual and theoretical foundations
: Agent languages and architectures
: Learning and adaptability
: Communication, coordination and collaboration
: Social issues in agent societies
: Safety, security, and responsibility
: Single vs. multi-agent systems
: Development and engineering methodologies
: User interfaces and usability
: Testbeds and evaluations
: Applications

: SPECIAL TRACK ON AGENT-MEDIATED ELECTRONIC COMMERCE
: **************************************************************
:
: AT2AI-2 is co-located with a meeting of the special interest group
: on Agent-Mediated Electronic Commerce of AgentLink, Europe's Network
: of Excellence for agent-based computing
: (<URL:http://www.iiia.csic.es/AMEC/>):
:
: While we welcome contributions that relate theory and practice of
: agent design in any application area, we particularly encourage
: research and case studies that describe the application of agent
: theories and architectures to the field of electronic commerce. These
: contributions will be bundled in a Special Track on Agent-Mediated
: Electronic Commerce at the Symposium.

: Call for Papers
:
: 2nd International Symposium on the
: IT BALANCED SCORECARD
: Alignment of Business and IT
:
: March 20 & 21, 2000
: Hilton Antwerp Belgium
:
: The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) concept, developed in the early
: 1990s by Robert Kaplan (Harvard Business School) and David
: Norton (Renaissance Solutions), is an important alternative
: for the traditional performance evaluation techniques. The
: BSC combines the planning processes of visioning and goal
: setting with processes for developing qualitative and
: quantitative performance measures and benchmarks. It recently
: emerged as a tool to control our business, elevating it from
: a tactical operational activity into a strategic management
: philosophy.
:
: The application of the BSC in an IT environment has been
: intensively studied. Various companies have already
: implemented the BSC concept to their IT activities. At the
: first IT Balanced Scorecard Symposium in 1999, ample
: examples were given to demonstrate the applicability of
: the BSC concepts in an IT environment.
:
: The purpose of this symposium is to bring together specialists
: from all over the world, involved in the development, the
: implementation, and the evaluation of the IT BSC, e.g.
: academics, researchers, practitioners, software experts,
: consultants, IT managers, quality managers, project managers,
: general managers and CEOs, etc., and to discuss and share
: their experiences in the field.
:
: This symposium is seeking quantitative, qualitative and
: experience based papers/cases from industry and academy.
:
: This 2nd international symposium is a joint organisation
: of the Technologisch Instituut (Technological Institute),
: hosted by the Koninklijke Vlaamse Ingenieursvereniging
: (Royal Society of Flemish Engineers), the Vlerick Leuven
: Gent Management School, and the IPO-UFSIA Management
