Dear colleagues, The 7th International Workshop on Cognitive Aspects of Information Systems Engineering – COGNISE’19
will take place in conjunction with CAiSE’19
4 June 2019, Rome, Italy
https://sites.google.com/is.haifa.ac.il/cognise2019 https://sites.google.com/is.haifa.ac.il/cognise2019
Important Dates:
Paper submission deadline: 4th Feb 2019 Notification of acceptance: 4th March 2019 Camera ready: 11th March 2019 Workshop day: 4th June 2019
Scope:
Cognitive aspects of information systems engineering is an area that is gaining interest and importance in industry and research. In recent years, human aspects and specifically cognitive aspects in software engineering and information systems engineering have received increasing attention in literature and conferences, acknowledging that these aspects are as important as the technical ones, which have traditionally been in the center of attention. The goal of this workshop is to provide a better understanding and more appropriate support of the cognitive processes and challenges practitioners experience when performing information systems development activities. Understanding the challenges and needs, educational programs as well as development supporting tools and notations may be enhanced for a better fit to our natural cognition, leading to better performance of engineers and higher systems’ quality.
The list of topics that are relevant to the workshop includes, but is not limited to:
Identification of challenges in IS development sourced by cognitive aspects: o Cognitive processes, difficulties and challenges in IS development o Collaborative/distributed cognition in teamwork o Social, managerial and cultural effects on individual cognition o Cognition-related characteristics of different development methods, notations and paradigms
Proposed solutions for supporting cognitive processes in IS development: o Development practices and supporting tools o Visual models o Designated knowledge management solutions o Solutions based on gamification or serious games Forming new thinking paradigms in the era of immersive and wearable technologies: o Existing and future challenges of IS designers in understanding users' cognitive needs when interacting with virtual/augmented reality and/or wearables o Cognitive challenges induced by shifting to the IS architecture and design approaches for these technologies o Using immersive technologies for supporting cognitive processes in IS development
Educational aspects of IS development: o Learning processes in IS development o Education programs, methods and tools o Teaching cases Workshop Organizers: Irit Hadar, University of Haifa, Israel, hadari@is.haifa.ac.il mailto:hadari@is.haifa.ac.il Irene Vanderfeesten, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, I.T.P.Vanderfeesten@tue.nl mailto:I.T.P.Vanderfeesten@tue.nl Barbara Weber, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark, bweb@dtu.dk mailto:bweb@dtu.dk Paper submission: Manuscripts should be submitted to the workshop in PDF format via the EasyChair system available at the workshop website. Submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of significance, originality and technical quality. Papers should clearly establish the research contribution and the relation to previous research. The submission should emphasize the discussion of aspects relevant to the workshop.
