Abstract Deadline: August 2, 2021
The racial inequities and other events of 2021 have propelled diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the spotlight. This has inspired some organizations to simply add DEI language to their corporate profiles, while many others are actively developing and implementing DEI initiatives. Despite this progress, the representation of IT/technology professionals across industries continues to suffer from a lack of racial and gender diversity, especially in management and leadership roles.
An upcoming issue of Cutter Business Technology Journal, with Guest Editor Viola Maxwell-Thompson
https://www.cutter.com/experts/viola-thompson
, will take a look at what companies can do differently to bridge/close the diversity/gender gap among IT and technology professionals in a meaningful, enduring, and measurable way.
Article ideas may include, but are not limited, to the following:
How can opportunities for sponsorship and pathways to advancement for underrepresented groups be created and sustained?
How can companies make workplace diversity a strategic priority at all levels within the leadership teams?
What steps need to be taken to address the equity disparities that still exist for people of color in the work environment?
What can companies do differently to bridge/close the diversity gap in a meaningful, sustainable, and measurable way?
What steps should be taken to ensure there is accountability for creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment?
How can greater equity and empowerment for women be created in the workplace?
If the needle is idling, what factors may be at the root cause?
What role(s) do senior leaders of color have in creating more diverse, equitable, inclusive work environments?
How can a systematic approach ensure sustainable DEI practices that withstand economic setbacks?
How can DEI practices be strengthened?
