Subject: [AISWorld] Special Issue on "Management of Digital Ecosystems"
in INTERNET OF THINGS journal (ELSEVIER)
Date: Tue, 17 Nov 2020 19:18:37 +0400
From: Khouloud SALAMEH <khouloud.salameh(a)gmail.com>

CALL FOR PAPERS
INTERNET OF THINGS journal (ELSEVIER)
SPECIAL ISSUE: “Management of Digital Ecosystems”
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest Editors:
- Richard Chbeir, University of Pau and Pays Adour, France
- Yannis Manolopoulos, Open University of Cyprus, Cyprus
- Khouloud Salameh, American University of Ras al Khaimah, UAE
Aims and Scope of the Special Issue
In the world of the Internet of Things (IoT), the rapid increase and
exponential use of digital components lead to the emergence of
intelligent environments, namely "digital ecosystems" connected to the
web and composed of multiple and independent entities such as
individuals, organizations, services, software, and applications sharing
one or several missions and focusing on the interactions and
inter-relationships among them. With computational intelligence help,
these digital ecosystems can exhibit new self-* properties (such as
self-management, self-healing, and self-configuration) environments.
Thanks to the re-combination and evolution of its "digital components,"
resources provided by each entity are properly conserved, managed and
used. The underlying web-based resources mainly comprehend big data
management, innovative services, smart and self-* properties platforms.
Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of digital ecosystems, they are
highly complex to study and design. This also leads to a poor
understanding of how managing resources will empower digital ecosystems
to be innovative, intelligent, and value-creating. The application of
Information Technologies can understand how entities request resources
and ultimately interact to create benefits and added-values, impacting
business practices, and knowledge. These technologies can be improved
through novel techniques, models, and methodologies for big data
management, web technologies, networking, security, human-computer
interactions, artificial intelligence, e-services, and self-organizing
systems to support the establishment of digital ecosystems and manage
their resources.

Dear colleagues,
Just a friendly reminder: As part of the ICIS 2020 program, we will run
a practice development workshop (PDW) on the topic of Artificial
Intelligence – Beyond the Hype. The PDW will provide participants with
an opportunity to exchange their views on contemporary advances in
artificial intelligence (AI). The purpose is to identify different
disciplinary synergies to collectively develop plans for the future,
building bridges, broadening yet nuancing the view of AI in
organizations and society. Building on the reciprocal relationship
between AI practices and institutions and an increasing interest in the
conceptualization of the IT artifact in this context, the PDW will
address a variety of organizational practices related to AI agency.
As part of the workshop, participants will work in small groups
discussing a selection of current research. We invite you to submit an
abstract of your current research in the area of the PDW, emphasizing
the research questions or problems, methodological approach (behavioral,
design science, etc.), and theories used (if applicable). Please also
submit up to five keywords that indicate where you see the potential for
future IS contributions in the area of the PDW. We encourage the
submission of diverse types of proposals ranging from
behavioral/organizational to design science and computational approaches
using AI. If accepted, you will have the opportunity to present and
discuss your view of potential IS contributions related to your research.
Please submit your abstract (up to 500 words, not counting references)
and keywords through https://forms.gle/ZjpWwM6QFXhHDR726 no later than
Nov 22. We will select the abstracts to be discussed in the PDW and
announce the decision by Nov 30.

Types of Submissions and Decisions
Four types of papers can be submitted:
Full paper: Finished or consolidated R&D works, to be included in one of
the Conference themes. These papers are assigned a 10-page limit.
Short paper: Ongoing works with relevant preliminary results, open to
discussion. These papers are assigned a 7-page limit.
Poster paper: Initial work with relevant ideas, open to discussion.
These papers are assigned to a 4-page limit.
Company paper: Companies' papers that show practical experience, R & D,
tools, etc., focused on some topics of the conference. These papers are
assigned to a 4-page limit.
Submitted papers must comply with the format of Advances in Intelligent
Systems and Computing Series (see Instructions for Authors at Springer
Website), be written in English, must not have been published before,
not be under review for any other conference or publication and not
include any information leading to the authors’ identification.
Therefore, the authors’ names, affiliations and bibliographic references
should not be included in the version for evaluation by the Program
Committee. This information should only be included in the camera-ready
version, saved in Word or Latex format and also in PDF format. These
files must be accompanied by the Consent to Publish form filled out, in
a ZIP file, and uploaded at the conference management system.
All papers will be subjected to a “double-blind review” by at least two
members of the Program Committee.
Based on Program Committee evaluation, a paper can be rejected or
accepted by the Conference Chairs. In the later case, it can be accepted
as the type originally submitted or as another type. Thus, full papers
can be accepted as short papers or poster papers only. Similarly, short
papers can be accepted as poster papers only.
Poster papers and Company papers are not published in the Conference
Proceedings, being only presented and discussed. The authors of accepted
poster papers should build and print a poster to be exhibited during the
Conference. This poster must follow an A1 or A2 vertical format. The
Conference includes Work Sessions where these posters are presented and
orally discussed, with a 7 minute limit per poster.
The authors of accepted Full papers will have 15 minutes to present
their work in a Conference Work Session; approximately 5 minutes of
discussion will follow each presentation. The authors of accepted Short
papers and Company papers will have 11 minutes to present their work in
a Conference Work Session; approximately 4 minutes of discussion will
follow each presentation.
Publication and Indexing
To ensure that a full paper or short paper is published, poster paper or
company paper is published, at least one of the authors must be fully
registered by the 2nd of January 2021, and the paper must comply with
the suggested layout and page-limit. Additionally, all recommended
changes must be addressed by the authors before they submit the
camera-ready version.
No more than one paper per registration will be published. An extra fee
must be paid for publication of additional papers, with a maximum of one
additional paper per registration. One registration permits only the
participation of one author in the conference.
Full and Short papers will be published in Proceedings by Springer, in
Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing series. Poster and company
papers will not be published, just presented in the conference.
Published Full and Short papers will be submitted for indexation by ISI,
EI-Compendex, SCOPUS, DBLP and Google Scholar, among others, and will be
available in the SpringerLink Digital Library.
The authors of the best selected papers will be invited to extend them
for publication in international journals indexed by ISI/SCI, SCOPUS and
DBLP, among others, such as:
- International Journal of Neural Systems (IF: 5.605 / Q1)

Date: Tue, 10 Nov 2020 12:43:26 +0000
From: Olgerta Tona <olgerta.tona(a)ait.gu.se>
To: aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org <aisworld(a)lists.aisnet.org>
29th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2021) June 14 –
16, 2021
- Marrakesh, Morocco
Track: Business Analytics and Big Data
(http://www.ecis2021.com/tracks-description)
*Track Description*
Technological advancements have contributed to the generation of massive
amounts of data that unleash huge opportunities not only for
organizations but also for society. The application of business
analytics, business intelligence, and big data approaches enables us to
integrate, analyse, visualize, and ultimately understand and improve the
complex processes that make up our digitized world. Such approaches are
enablers for knowledge discovery transforming societies and
organizations. Over the past few years, there has been enthusiasm around
business analytics as organizations explore how they can leverage their
data to create and maintain a competitive advantage. Improved
communication, more sustainable processes, as well as new business
models are examples for the innovative use of disparate data sources
(such as mobile, the Internet of Things, streaming data or social media
data).
In addition to the potential of transforming businesses, business
analytics, business intelligence and big data can contribute to better
human health and well-being, improved public services, and better
support of environmental and climate causes. The datafication of our
society can help the drive towards solutions that safeguard and promote
human values by creating empowered societies through the use of data,
building digital bridges, and maintaining sustainable and inclusive
societies among others.
Motivated by the explosion of interest in these emerging fields, the
present track aims to promote multidisciplinary contributions dealing
with socio-economic, organizational, technological, cultural, and
societal perspectives. We call for submissions based on quantitative and
qualitative work, theoretical research, design research, action
research, or behavioral research. Furthermore, we encourage papers with
outcomes that demonstrate the organizational impact of business
analytics and big data in terms of competitive performance,
innovativeness, increased agility, and market capitalizing competence.
In particular, we welcome papers that discuss and expand our
understanding of how the use of business analytics and big data is
impacting fundamental human values and society at a larger scale. Please
note that papers solely dealing with AI and machine learning algorithms
are not the focus of this track.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
* The role of business intelligence, business analytics, and big data
for new horizons in digitally united societies
* Individual and societal empowerment through business analytics and big
data
* Emerging and changing concepts and methodologies for business
analytics and big data
* Strategic and change management issues stemming from business
analytics and big data
* Business value of business analytics and big data
* Adoption, routinization, maturity, use, and innovative applications of
business analytics and big data
* Data privacy, data quality, and data governance
* Opportunities and challenges of sharing data and of open data
* Data-driven business model innovation and the digital ecosystem big data
* Data visualization, visual analytics
* Business analytics in the cloud, business analytics as a service
* Data, text and social media analytics for business analytics
* Process mining and the benefits of robotic process automation
