CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Workshop - Democratization of IT through Low Code Development Platforms
- A Dream Coming True or Same Same but Different? - European Conference
on Information Systems 2023
(https://www.ecis2023.no/program/workshops-and-ancillary-meetings/workshop/?…)
in Kristiansand, Norway
Official Workshop Homepage:
https://sites.google.com/view/low-code-ecis23-ws/
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
> From the early start of the IS discipline, practices, organization,
> and management of IS Development, have been central research areas.
> New techniques and methods are becoming popular to develop systems as
> quickly and efficiently as possible, especially with business
> development goals in mind.
However, in practice, projects continue to fail at a high rate, measured
by delays, time and budget overruns, and the inability to meet expected
functionality and quality.
Low code development platforms (LCDPs) may be a solution to overcome
these aforementioned issues as they allow the quick development and
deployment of applications. By offering easy to handle development
processes that typically require no code, LCDPs are enabling the
democratization of IT development. When it comes to developing novel
software artifacts, so-called citizen developers are no longer reliant
on the coding skills of IT developers. Further, LCDPs are not completely
code free and also enable more sophisticated development projects. This
enables individuals with a non-IT background to re- and upskill towards
IT development, and also enables the sustainable co-creation of digital
environments in tandems between software developers and business owners.
This workshop provides a forum for discussing research related to LCDPs,
based on a phenomenon-driven approach. We seek papers and contributions
such as position viewpoints that focus on organizational, group, and
individual levels analysis of LCDPs. We invite regular submissions
(completed and research in progress papers) based on conceptual or
empirical studies using qualitative or quantitative methods researching
future-of-work, governance, and IS development (not exhaustive). In
addition, we invite position viewpoints on the topic of LCDPs.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Low-code/no-code approaches to IS design and development
* Agile, lean, and DevOps approaches to Low Code development and project
management
* Technical and organizational challenges of designing Low-Code
Environments, including the role of and interaction between developers
and business experts
* Role of Platforms, Orchestrators and APIs in IT Development with
Low-Code Environments
* AI as the next layer of No-/Low-Code, e.g., ChatGPT or GitHub Co-Pilot
* Regulation and compliance issues in low code development
* Socio-technical aspects of design and project management in Low Code
development * Education, including the role of digital platforms and
traditional institutions in providing Low Code related education
* Project management challenges in Low code development, including
estimation, risk, quality assurance, governance, knowledge, team
dynamics, and managing organizational change
* Role of stakeholders in low code development

Call for Papers
1st International Workshop on
Hybrid Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise Modelling (HybridAIMS'23)
June 12-13, 2023, Zaragoza, SPAIN
https://hybridaims.com/
===============================================================================
IMPORTANT DATES:
- Paper submission: March 19th, 2023
- Notification of acceptance: April 4th, 2023
- Camera Ready: May 4th, 2023
Hybrid Artificial Intelligence is the research direction that focuses on the
combination of two prominent fields sub-symbolic AI (e.g., machine learning,
deep learning, neural networks) and symbolic AI (e.g., knowledge graphs,
knowledge
representation and reasoning, knowledge engineering, knowledge-based
systems).
Approaches from both fields have complementary strengths and enable the
creation of
Intelligent Information Systems (IIS). For example, whilst neural
networks can recognize
patterns in large amount of data, knowledge-based systems contain domain
knowledge and
enable logical reasoning and explainability of conclusions. AI
approaches are typically
integrated with application systems, which provide data for the AI
approaches and use
the results of these approaches for further processing. Thus, the
creation of IIS
requires high expertise in both AI approaches, knowledge about the
application domain
and IT knowledge. An early inclusion of domain experts in the
engineering process is
beneficial as it promotes a high quality of an IIS and would reduce its
building time.
Such an early inclusion is, however, challenging because stakeholders
from business and
IT have complementary skills and speak different languages: one more
technical and one more
business oriented. Enterprise Modelling (EM) can tackle this challenge
as it supports business
and IT alignment. It is an established approach for the conceptual
representation, design,
implementation, and analysis of information systems. This is of
relevance for AI approaches.
Graphical notation of enterprise models fosters human interpretability,
hence supporting
communication and decision-making, involving stakeholders from the
application domain, IT and AI.
The convergence of Hybrid Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise
Modelling promises to deliver
high value in the creation of Intelligent Information Systems.

CALL FOR PAPERS - Blockchain Cases and Innovations minitrack
Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-57), Waikiki,
Hawaii, January 3-6, 2024
http://www.hicss.org/ <http://www.hicss.org/>

Systems and Technology track
https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-57/organizational-systems-and-technology/#b…
<https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-57/organizational-systems-and-technology/#b…>
Blockchain, the technology underlying cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, has
been receiving considerable attention in recent years, as new use cases
in the public and private sector have been identified. What started as a
solution to the double-spending problem in Bitcoin, is being explored as
the backbone technology in scenarios where a trusted third party (e.g.,
a notary or a bank) is normally required. Using this technology,
transactions are securely registered on a data structure (aka the
ledger) replicated across a network of peers that validate the entries
using a consensus mechanism. New records are cryptographically linked to
existing ones, rendering them virtually immutable. The resulting
auditability and transparency have been leveraged in proposing
innovative solutions to land registries, to stop the spread of conflict
diamonds, to fight the counterfeiting of medication, to make supply
chains less opaque, and, generally, to promote new financial services.
Additionally, blockchains can also store and enforce the execution of
algorithmic code know as smart contracts – pieces of code that are
executed automatically once predetermined conditions are met – further
reducing uncertainty and promoting confidence among stakeholders that
would not normally trust each other. Nevertheless, we are still in the
early days of blockchain adoption, compared by some to the introduction
of the World Wide Web itself. Then, as now, few if any could predict the
full extent of the disruptive innovations that would emerge fostered by
this emerging technology.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Innovative uses of Blockchain technology
• Blockchain case studies, applications, and implementations
• Blockchain and privacy, security, and identity
• Blockchain and digital transformation
• Decentralized Finance (DeFi)
• Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)

=Scope & Goals=
Workshops and tutorials at SEMANTiCS 2023 allow your organisation or
project to advance and promote your topics and gain increased
visibility. The workshops and tutorials will be announced on the
SEMANTiCS website and they will be seen by all participants. SEMANTiCS
2023 workshops and tutorials can be incubators for industrial and
scientific communities that form and share a particular research and
development agenda. They provide a forum for presenting contributions
and findings to a diverse and knowledgeable community.
Furthermore, the event can be used as a dissemination activity in the
scope of large research projects or as a closed format for
research/commercial project consortia meetings.
=Setup and Requirements=
SEMANTiCS 2023 workshops and tutorials may be either half or full day
long. Workshops and tutorials take place on the days before and/or after
the main SEMANTiCS 2023 EU conference (20th, 21st, and/or 22nd of
September 2023). Details will be communicated on time.
Organizers of workshops and tutorials will be granted three free tickets
(only for the workshop & tutorial day) for organization purposes or
keynotes. Participants of workshops and tutorials will be charged a
marginal fee to cover the basic costs.
Workshop and tutorials proposals must include the following information:
* outline of the themes and goals of the event, including a title and a
brief abstract (less than 200 words) intended for the SEMANTiCS 2023 website
* a statement addressing why the event is important, why the event is
timely, how it is relevant to SEMANTiCS 2023 and the field of semantic
web. For the tutorials, why the presenters are qualified for a
high-quality introduction of the topic
* related workshops and conferences, i.e., specifying if this is a
continuation of a workshop series or is a new workshop to address an
emerging issue. Please provide information about past versions of this
workshop and other related workshops (including URLs and
submission/acceptance counts, if available).
* a statement addressing the quality assurance criterion that will be
used by the event organizers to select the papers for the workshops and
the presenters for the tutorials (e.g., peer review or review/evaluation
by event organizers). If a peer review process is chosen as a quality
assurance criterion for the workshops, the organizers will be
responsible for their own reviewing process. Workshop organizers will be
responsible also for their own publicity (e.g., website, timelines and
call for papers) and proceedings production.
* structure of the event and plans for generating and stimulating
discussion; how will the interaction be organized in case of a hybrid event
* desired minimum and maximum number of event participants, expected
number of participants, and (in case of previously held events) number
of registered attendees and web site for previous editions of the event
* a description of the intended audience and the expected learning outcomes
* desired prerequisite knowledge of the audience
* proposed duration of the event (i.e., half or full day), different
sessions if applicable (final time slot will be assigned in accordance
with the SEMANTiCS program)
* any equipment, room capacity, or other logistic constraints
* full contact information of all organizers of the event and main
contact person; a brief description of each organizer's background,
including relevant past experience in organizing events
Proposals for workshop and tutorial proposals must be submitted via
Easychair: https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=sem23
=Review and Evaluation Criteria=
Workshop and tutorial proposals will be reviewed by the SEMANTiCS 2023
Workshop Chairs, as well as by the SEMANTiCS 2023 organizing committee,
according to the following criteria:
* The potential to advance the state of semantic web research and practice
* The quality assurance criterion proposed by the organizers to select
high-quality papers for workshops and presenters for tutorials
* The organizers' experience and ability to lead a successful event
* Timeliness and expected interest in the event topics
* The balance and synergy between all SEMANTiCS 2023 events
=Topics of interest include (but are not limited to)=
* Web Semantics & Linked (Open) Data

Dear colleagues,
We are happy to announce a call for submissions for the
*Special Issue "Smart Cities: IoT and Sustainability as Drivers for
Future Developments" (ISSN 2071-1050).*
Public entities, cities, and municipalities are progressively
acknowledging that the effects of climate change, energy policy, and the
continual advancement of digital technologies necessitate a
recalibration of resource utilization and practical measures. To this
end, smart solutions are often deployed, or Internet of Things
technologies are used to support changes in the way resources and
energies are traded, e.g., by controlling appliances to make better use
of renewable energy. The aim of this journal is to examine and discuss
the latest contributions related to the Internet of Things and
sustainability trends for smart cities. The authors are encouraged to
showcase sample applications, technological advancements, and
intelligent solutions that facilitate enhanced resource and/or data
management.
The intelligent handling of data will be a key prerequisite for creating
transparency and, at the same time, supporting resource-saving actions;
for example, the requirement to install smart meters and the
availability of dynamic tariffs is not automatically associated with an
improvement in resource consumption.
Scientists are called upon to present their own new ideas and approaches
to solutions and, above all, to address problems that have not yet been
solved.
The call for submissions for "Smart Cities: IoT and Sustainability as
Drivers for Future Developments", belonging to the section "Sustainable
Urban and Rural Development", focuses on the following topics in the
background of Smart Cities and sustainability:
Applications from the field of the Internet of Things or the use of data
science and AI methods for dealing with big data, e.g., environmental
data or open data as a basis for citizen participation in sustainable
decisions.
Approaches, applications, and solutions for sustainable energy supply or
sustainable management of resources in smart cities e.g., use of
renewable energy sources, water management in rural areas (extreme
weather events)
Approaches, applications, and solutions to improve the circular economy
or logistics in smart cities.
Case studies and best practices are also welcome for submission in the
aforementioned topics.
