We are very excited about designing a conference that will maintain the in-person model, which was already a success in the previous edition, and that will attract the interest of both academia and industry. GOALS *************** Over the last few years, software services have emerged as a key factor in the growth of any developed economy. This fact has encouraged a great interest in the different economic actors to develop a "Science of Services". In this sense, University, Industry and Administration aim to create principles, knowledge, methods and techniques to articulate and express their respective responsibilities and activities around the service concept. The Spanish Conference on Science and Service Engineering (JCIS) is a forum for dissemination, discussion and exchange of knowledge and experiences open to the different actors involved. The focus is not only on new scientific advances, but also on existing technologies in service-oriented computing and business processes, new service engineering practices, and lessons learned through real experiences and case studies. In this context, JCIS brings together communities related to the following areas of interest: - Service Engineering. - Web Engineering. - Business Processes. - Services and Cloud Computing. - Internet of Things. - Pervasive Systems. - Quantum Computing in Services - Blockchain. - Gerontechnology Within these areas of interest, the conference will focus on the following topics: - Fundamentals of service and/or process-oriented systems. - Formal methods and algorithms in science and service engineering. - Novel concepts, languages and architectures for science and service engineering. - Proofs of concept, case studies, or artifacts focused on service engineering. - Designing service and/or process-oriented information systems. - Empirical and reproducible evaluations of service and/or process-oriented information systems. - Experiences of application of service engineering in organizations. - Experiences of transferring science and service engineering techniques to industry. - Use or advance the methodologies of service and/or process-oriented methodologies to support digital innovation. - Industry challenges for service engineering. - Application of service science to improve organizational strategy. - Societal challenges in any of the conference areas of interest. TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS ************************************ The types of contributions that can be sent to this edition of the conference, in Spanish or English, include: - Long papers. This modality is especially aimed at researchers who want to inform the community about the course of their research, so that they can obtain guidance and establish collaborations with researchers doing related work. Submissions of long papers should have an extension between 8 and 10 pages in LNCS format (detailed below). - Short papers, Reflections/Positioning statements, Tool demonstrations, R&I Projects, Contracts with companies. This modality is aimed at presenting incipient works, reflections that encourage debate, tools developed, or newly accepted projects related to any of the detailed areas of interest of the Conference. Papers in this modality must have an extension between 3 and 4 pages in LNCS format (detailed below). Demos must include a link to a demonstration video, and the tool must be presented during the conference. - Practical/Business experiences. This type of contribution is oriented to companies/administration that wish to transmit to the community problems, experiences, and/or solutions applied in the areas of interest of the Conference. These problems and/or experiences can serve as a bridge of collaboration between academia and the industry. The articles in this modality must have an extension of 1 or 2 pages in the format detailed below. - Papers already published. The aim of this type of contribution is to collect the works already published on leading journals and conferences with a twofold goal: to publicise them within the conference itself, and to offer them as a guide to the rest of the community. To this end, we request papers published between January 2021 and the below detailed deadline, in journals indexed in JCR or proceedings of international conferences indexed in Class 1 and Class 2 of the GII-GRIN-SCIE ranking, which have not been previously sent to or are already under review in SISTEDES. A paper will be considered published when it has a DOI. An abstract of one page maximum is required, indicating the title, the authors and a summary of the contribution, as well as the reference to the original publication, and a digital copy of the mentioned publication following the format detailed below. Only the abstract will be published in the conference proceedings. In order not to violate any copyright, submitted papers must be significantly different from those already published in other forums. Papers will be formally reviewed for evaluating their relevance, originality, technical quality and appropriateness to the conference areas of interests. The authors of the best papers will receive a diploma in recognition of their contribution. The best papers will also be considered for publication in a special issue of a journal. So sollen IT-Lösungen einerseits einen effizienteren Einsatz vorhandener Ressourcen sicherstellen, andererseits ist die IT selbst Ressourcenverbraucher und die Projektverantwortlichen müssen diese Herausforderung in das Projekt hineintragen und letztlich den Projekterfolg auch hinsichtlich der Nachhaltigkeit nachweisen. Auf dem Weg in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit kann die IT sowohl positive Impulse setzen als auch negative Folgen verursachen. Auf der einen Seite ist der enorm hohe Energieverbrauch von Streaming-Diensten für den privaten Konsum, für den Betrieb von Cloudlösungen oder der Aufwand der Online-Logistik zu nennen. Auf der anderen Seite generiert die IT das Potenzial, durch intelligente Konzepte im Smart-Home-Bereich oder durch Monitoring- und Steuerungsapplikationen in vernetzten Energiesystemen massive Einsparungen zu realisieren. Kunden, Investoren, Aufsichtsbehörden und Mitarbeitende fordern zunehmend, dass Unternehmen ökologisch verantwortlich und sozial verträglich agieren und über dafür geeignete Governance-Strukturen und Vorgehensmodelle verfügen. Immer mehr Investoren beziehen ESG-Elemente (Environment, Social und Governance) in ihre Investitionsentscheidungen ein. Dies deckt ökologische und soziale Aspekte, sowie Aspekte der verantwortungsvollen Organisationsführung ab. Dem gegenüber steht, dass aus der Beachtung von Umweltverträglichkeit und sozialer Gerechtigkeit betriebswirtschaftlicher Aufwand entsteht, der zu höheren Kosten führt. Die Vorteile nachhaltiger Projekte sind aber meist nicht kurzfristig zu realisieren und daher mit einer „quartalsorientierten“ Denkweise nur schwer vereinbar. Projekte sind das zentrale Mittel, um Veränderungen von und in Organisationen zu schaffen. Organisationen müssen sich zukünftig, sowohl in der Projektauswahl, der Projektdurchführung und der Festlegung, als auch bei der Beurteilung von Projektergebnissen, mit Aspekten der Nachhaltigkeit auseinandersetzen und entsprechende Vorgehensmodelle aufsetzen. Schwerpunkt der PVM 2023 soll daher das Thema Nachhaltigkeit im IT-Projektmanagement und in anderen IT-Vorhaben sein. Um die damit verbundenen Fragen im Spannungsfeld zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis zu diskutieren, laden wir insbesondere Beiträge zu folgenden Themenschwerpunkten ein: Themenschwerpunkte * IT-Vorhaben im Einklang mit den Nachhaltigkeitszielen der vereinten Nationen. o Die Nachhaltigkeit von Projektergebnissen (Outcome nicht die Deliverables!) als ein Entscheidungskriterium für oder gegen Projekte. o Nachhaltigkeit in der Projektdurchführung als Vorgabe für den Projektmanager und das Team. * Moderne Technologien, Werkzeuge und Hilfsmittel für ein nachhaltiges IT-Projektmanagement. o Künstliche Intelligenz als Enabler nachhaltiger IT-Projekte. o Künstliche Intelligenz als Unterstützung im Projekt (Planung, Steuerung, Reporting). * Vorgehensmodelle für die Umsetzung nachhaltiger IT-Projekte und IT-Systeme. o Anpassung von Vorgehensmodellen an die Anforderungen der Nachhaltigkeit. o Verankerung der Nachhaltigkeit in den Governance-Strukturen für IT-Vorhaben. * Andere Aspekte von Projektmanagement und Vorgehensmodellen. Ziele der Fachtagung Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, einerseits einem Fachpublikum fundierte Ansätze aus der Wissenschaft mit Erfahrungen zu deren Anwendung in der Praxis vorzustellen und anderseits für die Praxis relevante Themen der Wissenschaft vorzustellen, um Raum für die fachübergreifende Diskussion und den Erfahrungsaustausch zu geben. Beitragskategorien *Wissenschaftliche Beiträge / Fachbeiträge* Hierunter fallen Ergebnisse abgeschlossener Forschungsvorhaben und fundierte wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse, um diese mit den Teilnehmern aus Wissenschaft, Studium und Praxis zu diskutieren. *Denkanstöße und Impulse* Eine wichtige Aufgabe der GI-Fachgruppen ist es, sich mit der Zukunft des Fachgebiets zu beschäftigen. AutorInnen können reifende Ideen oder kontroverse bzw. provokative Ansichten in einem Impulsbeitrag vorstellen, welche anschließend im Auditorium diskutiert werden sollen. Durch den Austausch sollen Denkanstöße und Impulse für die Teilnehmenden und für die künftige Fachgruppenarbeit entstehen. Die Einreichung kann als Kurzbeitrag erfolgen. *Berichte aus der Praxis* In Praxisberichten sollen sowohl positive als auch negative Projekterfahrungen berichtet werden. Die Einreichung kann als Foliensatz oder Kurzbeitrag erfolgen. Im Review-Prozess wird jede dieser Inhaltskategorien nach passenden Kriterien bewertet. *Diskussion bereits publizierter Arbeiten* Ähnlich dem „Journal-first“-Modell anderer internationaler Konferenzen, können Beiträge eingereicht werden, welche bereits in renommierten Journalen und Konferenzen publiziert oder zur Publikation/Präsentation angenommen wurden. Ziel ist die Stimulation des Diskurses innerhalb der wissenschaftlichen Community, sowie die Erhöhung des Impacts von bereits veröffentlichten Ergebnissen durch den Austausch mit Fachleuten aus der Praxis. Es werden ausschließlich Vorschläge von begutachteten Beiträgen akzeptiert, die auf der entsprechenden Hauptkonferenz (bzw. in Journalen) in voller Länge angenommen wurden. As information technologies have penetrated our work and life, businesses and organizations have become more dependent on the use of information technologies as well as on the skills, knowledge and abilities of professionals working in the IT field, especially during the times of global health crisis and war. It is a critical time for us both from academia and industry to ponder and ask: How can we better prepare our IT workforce for new organizational and societal challenges? SIGMIS CPR 2023 welcomes papers on traditional IT workforce topics pertaining to personnel, training, workforce, and leadership. Moreover, SIGMIS CPR2023 calls for attention and concerted research in the following three key areas: (1)-Re-Imagining IT Workforce Post COVID-19 Global Pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the social distancing norms and nationwide lockdowns, giving rise to new ways of work and life, such as the common practices of work-from-home (WFH) by the general workforce, including the IT workforce. This calls us to update our views about IT careers and workforce development. Important questions include but not limited to: -What challenges and opportunities arise for IT career and professional development in the computing and information technology fields during and post the COVID-19 pandemic? -What knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) will businesses and organizations require of IT workforce to adapt to the changing work environments (i.e., work-from-home; crowdsourced work etc)? -How will businesses and organizations manage IT workforce in the changing work environments (i.e., work-from-home; crowdsourced work etc.)? -What will the future of IT profession and IT work look like? (2) Embracing and promoting the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the IS career ecosystem. The recent editorial “Are we doing enough? A threefold approach to continue our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion” authored by K.D. Joshi and published in the Data Base Journal has pointed out the significant yet underexplored issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our IS academia. As a conference dedicating to the development and education of IS workforce, ACMSIG CPR 2023 calls for more attention and efforts by IS education and IS Career through embracing and promoting the equity, diversity and inclusion (DEI) in the IS education and career ecosystem. A better understanding of DEI associated challenges and action plans starts with the following questions: -How can educational institutions improve the IT career’s visibility among diverse student populations (i.e., students of different gender and ethnic minorities, first-generation college students, students from minority-serving institutions, etc)? -How can educational institutions attract and motivate more students from economically and ethnically diverse backgrounds to choose IT major and consider IT career? -How can we build and sustain an education pipeline from high school to undergraduate and graduate programs in IT and IS? -What are the challenges and opportunities in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the IS education and career ecosystem? (3)-Safeguarding the security of IT systems in the times of global instability. Last but not least, in many parts of the world, organizations and managers increasingly experience a threat to the security and privacy of their technical systems and data resources. As a result, they have a higher expectation on IT professionals to help them prevent or solve problems of IT security such as data damage or loss, hacker protection, etc. As the threats to IT security have increasing rapidly, it’s important to understand if our IT workforce is well educated and equipped to take on the challenging work of protecting organizational IT systems. Questions included but not limited to the following: -What IT security and privacy issues are challenging business operations and organization work? -How are businesses and organizations managing and adapting their IT security in the times of global stability (i.e., increasing hacker from foreign countries)? -What are the essential, new skills, knowledge and abilities (SKA) required of IT security professionals in local, national and global work environments? -What are best practices of safeguarding IT security across businesses, organizations, and government agencies? It includes computational design science, optimization design science, representation design science, and economics design science, among others (Rai, 2017). While the different streams of design science paradigms have their different focal topics and writing styles, they together make significant contributions to the world and change the practice. In particular, we witnessed the emergence (advance) of several technologies in recent years, such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR)/metaverse, blockchain/nft/distributed computing, cloud/edge computing, Internet of Things (IoTs), and cyber-physical system (CPS), which has afforded new possibilities as well as new concerns (e.g., fairness, security, and privacy) for design science in various application domains. This calls for more grounded design science research that leads and directs the design, implementation, and evolution of contemporary IT artifacts, which would solve problems and improve the environment in which they are instantiated. We thereby welcome a diversity of submissions that can produce novel theoretical knowledge, practical insights, and methodological basis on novel design science topics. The track seeks to synthesize broader understandings in the diversity of all types of design science studies, as specified by Rai (2017).
