Participation is free of charge, provided that participants are registered for the conference. The Doctoral Consortium has the following objectives: * To provide valuable feedback on students' research topics, directions, methods and plans; * To help students pitch their research ideas to peers in the research community; * To promote the development of a community of scholars that will help students in their future careers; * To introduce new scholars to the process mining research community and provide opportunities to meet and interact with experienced researchers. The PhD candidates of the accepted proposals are expected to present their PhD project at the Doctoral Consortium. We welcome submissions representing a broad spectrum of research topics related to Process Mining. Participants will benefit from the advice of senior researchers in the field and from the interaction with peers being at a similar stage of their careers. Also, they will receive valuable feedback on how to shape their thesis from experts in the area, which could be useful to participate in the Best Process Mining Dissertation Award at ICPM at the end of their Ph.D. programme. Submission -------------------------------- PhD students interested in engaging in detailed discussions on their research at the Doctoral Consortium are invited to submit an extended abstract, which describes their thesis work and, in particular, elaborates on the following discussion points: * The main research question guiding the envisaged research; * The motivation of the research questions (what is new about the research question and why is this important to be investigated?); * The initial ideas on the solution being proposed and its validity; * The planned research methodology and possible techniques being applied, with specific attention on how the results are going to be validated; * The relation of the work to the state of the art, especially (but not only) in process mining research. The points above will be considered by the jury to evaluate the contribution (see "Review process" below for further details). The extended abstract should be discussed with the respective PhD supervisor before submission. The manuscript must be written in English and prepared using the latest IEEE Computational Intelligence Society conference proceedings guidelines (8.5" × 11" two-column format). Templates are available for Latex and Word here. The manuscript should not exceed the length of 2 pages. The manuscript should be submitted (as a single PDF file) by midnight (Anywhere on Earth, AoE) by 6 August 2020 via the ICPM 2020 submission website on EasyChair (select the "Doctoral Consortium" track): https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf= icpm2020. The accepted manuscripts will be published on a volume of CEUR-ws proceedings. Review process -------------------------------- Submitted proposals will be reviewed by the Doctoral Consortium Committee. The review of the reported research work in each proposal will take into account its originality, its potential for advancing the process mining field, and whether the work is at a stage where the PhD candidate can benefit from participating in the consortium. Also, the presence, clarity and depth of the aforementioned discussion points will determine the judgement of the reviewers. Experimental results for the proposed research are not required. However, a concrete plan for the PhD project is a must. Rejected submissions will receive written feedback. Confidentiality of submissions will be maintained throughout the review process. Notification -------------------------------- Authors will be notified of the result of their submission by 7 September 2020. Accepted doctoral candidates will receive instructions on how to submit a camera-ready copy of their proposal and will receive information on the preparation of the presentation and poster (see "At The Conference" next). Acceptance to the Doctoral Consortium is an honour. In turn, accepted candidates are expected to fully commit themselves to the success of the consortium by being open to new ideas and suggestions and providing ideas and suggestions to other participants. All accepted contributions will be circulated among the participants about one week before the consortium. Different from conventional approaches, they allow for an arbitrary number of classification levels and introduce other concepts that foster expressiveness, reuse and adaptability. A key aspect of the multi-level modeling paradigm is the use of entities that are simultaneously types and instances, a feature which has consequences for conceptual modeling, language engineering and for the development of model-based software systems. The objectives of the MULTI series is to provide a forum for the multi-level modelling community to address the foundations of multi-level modelling approaches and support future multi-level modelers through better DSMLs, tools, methods and guidelines. The workshop will encourage the presentation of case studies and tool demonstrations. To achieve this goal, a significant proportion of time will be devoted to discussions. Ongoing advances in various edge-oriented computing paradigms, inclusive of the Internet of Things (IoT), Edge computing, Fog computing and others, have served to significantly increase the complexity and ubiquity of these software systems (indeed, the IoT paradigm can be seen as an evolution of ubiquitous computing from the 1990s), and, as a result of this, to make them more critical. Given their criticality, in addition to being able to resist malicious attacks (security) and handle accidental failures (reliability), the resilience of such systems, namely, their ability to `bounce back’ from both attacks and failures and autonomously maintain operation, is becoming increasingly important. Going beyond resilience, in some situations (e.g. in highly dynamic, unpredictable environments) it is also desirable, and sometimes even essential, for software systems to have the ability to improve their own functionality and `bounce back’ even more resilient than before. This characteristic is termed antifragility. Both resilience and antifragility can be achieved through a variety of means, but one particularly promising approach is to apply techniques from autonomic and/or self-adaptive computing – realizing various self-* properties via adaptation, including the special property of self-improvement via meta-adaptation – in conjunction with AI and other research areas such as distributed computing and software engineering. This workshop aims to disseminate the latest research ideas and results that are based on, or arrived at by using, autonomic and/or self-adaptive computing (but also self-aware computing, CAS, and related variants), as these ideas and results pertain to cyber resilience and antifragility in complex, distributed systems; and to stimulate discussion on a range of topics within this overarching theme. Multiple efforts on how computational technologies can help to cope with damage from this coronavirus are currently underway in the intelligent systems research arena. In this special issue, we research ways that Intelligent Knowledge Management Systems (i-KMS) and the associated intelligent decision technologies can provide effective, efficient and systemic decision-making support for relevant stakeholders and decision-makers in a pandemic crisis (Rehfuess et al., 2019; Portela et al., 2019; O’Leary, 2020). KMS are defined as IT-based systems for collecting, codifying, distributing, and using valuable organizational knowledge (Alavi & Leidner, 2001). They are usually implemented with digital documenting and information retrieval systems and enhanced with intelligent decision technologies (i.e. ontologies, fuzzy cognitive maps, case-based reasoning, agent-based systems, heuristic ruled-based systems, natural languages interfaces, and the classic and modern data mining and machine learning), to create i-KMS. Both KMS and i-KMS have been applied to the healthcare domain and crisis management areas according to the literature (Andreadis et al., 2009; Jennex & Raman, 2009; Choi et al., 2014; Kumar, 2014; Ziuziański et al., 2014; Stoddart et al., 2015; Irfan et al., 2019). The COVID-19 crisis has revealed that updated and enhanced intelligent concepts, frameworks, methods, and technologies are needed to effectively, efficiently, and ethically support stakeholders and decision-makers (Hevner et al., 2004; Arnott & Pervan, 2014) in the context of a pandemic crisis (Moghadas et al., 2009; Moberg et al., 2018; Shearer et al., 2020; Squazzoni et al., 2020; Aghazadeh & Padoano, 2020; O’Leary, 2020). OBJECTIVE OF THE SPECIAL ISSUE To advance intelligent Knowledge Management Systems and associated Intelligent Systems concepts, frameworks, methods, and technologies to meet the severe health, economic, and social challenges that emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in this decade. High-quality conceptual and empirical research papers are invited from the international interdisciplinary scientific community interested in helping to provide better decision-making support to stakeholders and decision-makers in the context of a pandemic crisis through intelligent Knowledge Management Systems and Intelligent Systems. Patients nowadays can choose from a wide range of digital health applications such as wearables and mobile phone applications supporting their self-management, health and well-being. However, barriers are still impeding a large-scale, sustainable implementation of these digital health innovations.
