This change, whether gradual or sudden, evident or seamless, can have a signicant inuence on our everyday experiences, and thus entails eorts to envision possible scenarios and plan for them. We believe that future buildings, as they would embody our digital and physical interactive daily experiences, should be designed and nurtured in a dialogue with their users, both at the individual as well as social levels. This concern has become of central importance in the newly emerging research domain of Human-Building Interaction (HBI), which seeks to provide a user-centred lens to addresses the physical, spatial, and social design opportunities and challenges that emerge as our built environments become immersively interactive. In this special issue we aim to bring together contributions from the elds of human-computer interaction, building and urban architecture, and social sciences; and provide a common platform for collaboratively creating and sharing future 'images' of Human-Building Interaction in a time frame of 10-20 years. ----------------------------------------------------------- *Topics of Interest* ----------------------------------------------------------- Three types of submission are invited: • Conceptual contributions envisioning the evolution of HBI (ideally in specific use situations such as home, oce, school, urban public spaces, transportation vehicles, etc.) • Design and evaluation of technologies and physical artifacts to enhance human interaction with, experience in buildings. In addressing IS research questions, these papers are expected to use theories and methods from the cognitive and psychological sciences. This is a critical moment in time for us to rely on these other disciplines to complement IS research. The future of the Information System discipline is bound to involve human cognition as more and more systems are being used to meet our social needs. Human cognition deals with how we know things, through processes such as reasoning, perception, and judgment. SIG Cognitive Research is intended to represent and support researchers in information systems who view understanding human cognition as a critical component to the successful design and implementation of information systems. As such, the questions of interest that are relevant to this SIG group focus on IS problems in terms of the process of knowing. There is a wide range of diverse topics from which these questions can come. Papers should be limited to 10,000 words, including tables, figures, and references. Authors must also include an abstract not exceeding 300 words. Before submitting manuscripts, please format papers so that: 1. the first page contains only the paper title, author names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses 2. the second page contains only the paper title and abstract, without author names 3. identifying information is removed from the file properties 4. all comments are removed and changes are accepted (if necessary) Papers may be submitted in Word, WordPerfect, or Acrobat formats. If submitting in Acrobat, please submit the title page with author information separately. REVIEWING Submissions will be double-blind reviewed. The organizing committee will participate in and coordinate the review process. Submitting authors agree to provide timely reviews of at most two other submissions, if requested. WORKSHOP FORMAT The workshop is intended to serve as a showcase of leading cognitive research in information systems. There are no separate tracks or concurrent presentations. The format of the workshop is designed to enable open and constructive discussions of the research, in a spirit of collegial community-building. The workshop will run for the full day (tentatively 8:30AM - 5:00pm). Doctoral students are encouraged to attend the SIG Cognitive Research workshop. A discounted rate for attendance will be extended to these students. There will be special roundtable discussions of Ph.D. students' proposals. In prior years, students have found this to be very helpful. A separate call for students' proposals will follow this call for papers at a later date. EXTENDED ABSTRACTS This workshop is a forum to present and discuss papers to help authors publish their papers in top academic journals. In order to prevent copyright issues for subsequent publication, authors of accepted papers will be required to submit an extended abstract which will be distributed at the workshop and made available on the SIG website. The purpose of this extended abstract is to highlight key aspects of the papers presented for discussion. The abstract should include a synthesis of the theoretical background, methods and findings of the full paper. The extended abstract should not exceed 2 pages of single-spaced text including any tables, figures and references. Australasian Journal of Information Systems, 20. doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.3127/ajis.v20i0.1416 AJIS Post Publication Review Policy The information systems discipline is dynamic, with developments which often outpace the normal publishing programme of a journal. AJIS is interested in developing the discipline and encouraging constructive discussion leading to the strengthening of ideas and argument. Accordingly, AJIS invites short reviews (no more than 1,000 words) of papers it has published, subject to the following guidelines: 1. All reviews must be signed and will be attributed 2. All reviews should address a substantive issue on a recently published paper 3. A submitted review will be sent to the corresponding author of that paper for a response to the review, which will be published simultaneously 4. If the corresponding author declines to respond, a note to that effect will appear with the review The AJIS Editor-in-Chief has the final decision on whether a Post-Publication Review will be accepted. -=-=-=- Call for Papers AJIS publishes high quality contributions to the global Information Systems (IS) discipline with an emphasis on theory and practice on the Australasian context. Topics cover core IS theory development and application (the nature of data, information and knowledge; formal representations of the world, the interaction of people, organisations and information technologies; the analysis, design and deployment of information systems; the impacts of information systems on individuals, organisations and society), IS domains (e-business, e-government, e-learning, e-law, etc) and IS research approaches. Research and conceptual development based in a very wide range of epistemological methods are welcomed. All manuscripts undergo double blind reviewing by at least 2 well qualified reviewers. Their task is to provide constructive, fair, and timely advice to authors and editor. AJIS welcomes research and conceptual development of the IS discipline based in a very wide range of epistemologies. Different types of research paper need to be judged by different criteria. Here are some assessment criteria that may be applied: * Relevance - topic or focus is part of the IS discipline. * Effectiveness - paper makes a significant contribution to the IS body of knowledge. * Impact - paper will be used for further research and/or practice. * Uniqueness - paper is innovative, original & unique. * Conceptual soundness - theory, model or framework made explicit. * Argument - design of the research or investigation is sound; methods appropriate. * Clarity - Topic is clearly stated; illustrations, charts & examples support content. * Reliability - data available; replication possible. * References - sound, used appropriately, and sufficient - appropriate AJIS articles referenced * Style - appropriate language, manuscript flows. This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. AJIS has been published since 1993 and appears in the Index of Information Systems Journals, is ranked "A" by both the Australian Council of Professors and Heads of Information Systems and the Australian Business Deans' Council. The IFIP Working Group 9.1 (ICT and Work) business meeting will be held at the conclusion of the workshop. ------------------------------ In our increasingly connected world, the nature of work is changing. Digital innovation has led to the emergence of new types of jobs, while other jobs have become obsolete. There is more flexibility in terms of when, where, and how we work. ICT has enabled greater accessibility to a variety of jobs by eliminating barriers due to physical, visual, or other restrictions. Along with the positive impacts of digital innovation, there are also potential negative impacts of ICT on the workplace, particularly regarding new methods of employee monitoring and the blurring of boundaries between home and work. These and other issues related to the impact of digital innovation on work will be explored in this workshop. You are invited to submit extended abstracts about your research (maximum 5 pages) related to the changing nature of work. Indicate whether this is a completed research project or research-in-progress. A combination of short presentations and discussions will be used to facilitate the exchange of ideas. The nature of radio-enabled item identification and automatic data capture has significantly changed over the years driven by the interest in overarching applications such as the Internet-of-Things and cyber-physical systems. As such, RFIDsec has also broadened its scope and seeks papers describing any contributions to security and privacy in any application area related to any constrained wireless devices, such as sensor nodes, smart wearables, contactless smart cards, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and RFID tags. Topics of interest include: - System security aspects related to any emerging application area of constrained platforms, e.g. Internet-of-Things, cyber-physical systems, e-health devices, etc. - Implementations of cryptography and protocols with constrained resources in terms of energy, power, computation resources and memory footprint - Secure hardware and software architectures for embedded constrained devices and systems - Side-channel, tamper and reverse-engineering resistant designs and countermeasures for constrained platforms - Physical-layer security and contextual authentication/pairing for constrained devices. - User-centric security issues, e.g. continuous user authentication, user-centric data privacy management, user consent for pervasively sensed data, etc. - New applications and ideas related to traditional RFID application areas such as payment, identity and logistics, e.g. new approaches to proximity payments channels (short range audio or visual channels). - Design issues related to reliability and scalability of security services in large systems of constrained devices, e.g. key management, device updates and security life cycle. RFIDSec will accept full and short papers (14 and 8 pages in LNCS format). Short papers describe high-quality novel ideas with the potential to stimulate discussion and initiate new directions within the field, but due to their exploratory nature might not have been fully investigated and evaluated yet. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. The proceedings will be published as a Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Authors of accepted papers with outstanding results of particular interest for the community will receive a special invitation to submit an extended version of their work to IEEE Transactions on Computers. At least 40% of substantial new material has to be added to the journal submission, and the final manuscript should be in the current scope of the journal.
