*Swansea, United Kingdom*
The ubiquity of social media has had a profound effect on the way we
communicate and is of significant importance to society and business.
Social media tools have helped break down geographical barriers that once
restricted communication and have led to an explosion of e-participation,
virtual presence, and online communities. Professional benefits of social
media include sharing of information, publicity, and giving and receiving
support and advice. Consumers have become increasingly empowered to exert
an influence on brands through online communities and businesses are able
to acquire rapid feedback and garner insight into individual preferences
without observer effects. Analysis of social media content via automated
techniques and systems can also help to safeguard society from organized
crime but such uses remain a delicate issue.
With seemingly endless benefits it is easy to overlook the disadvantages
of social media, which are an increasingly important consideration as
social media platforms continue to proliferate. Social media has
facilitated a loss of ownership and control of content as private, public
and institutional domains increasingly overlap. There is a need for careful
balancing of professionalism and freedom of speech, to ensure that posts do
not cause offence or harm reputations. Other drawbacks include time
pressure, plagiarism, misrepresentation, addiction, and negative
psychological consequences. While providing a means to protect public
safety, social media also provides a means of threatening it and enabling
new forms of cyber-crime.
This conference aims to bring together a variety of disciplines and a
community for the advancement of knowledge regarding the adoption, use,
impact, and potential of social media. To achieve this goal, we invite
researchers and practitioners to present their ideas and findings at the
15th IFIP Conference on e-Business, e-Services, and e-Society to be held at
Swansea University, UK in 2016. Theoretical and empirical papers employing
quantitative, qualitative, and/or critical methods are welcomed.

CD-ARES 2016
************
Today’s highly interconnected and interdependent information systems are used in many different ways in order to perform and improve business operations. Thus, a multidisciplinary view on information systems is of great importance to meet future research challenges. This IFIP supported conference therefore is focused on multidisciplinary aspects across the breadth of Business and Enterprise Information Systems.
The aim of this conference is to foster a forum for researchers and practitioners for discussing and resenting recent research ideas and results across the multiple research domains. The conference will be held in conjunction with the ARES conference. Therefore authors of papers with security and dependability focus are also encouraged to contribute to this workshop.
As a multidisciplinary platform this conference will also provide the possibility of discussing addional interactions between elements that extend beyond technology such as organisational issues to include environmental factors (e.g. location based aspects, national and international payment mechanisms, …)
CD-ARES will be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security (ARES 2016) and is supported by IFIP TC 8 (WG 8.4, WG 8.9).

CALL FOR PAPERS
11th Annual Midwest Association for Information Systems Conference
Milwaukee, WI
May 19-20, 2016
Conference theme: Bigger, Smarter, Safer: Game Changers for Information Systems
Organizations face a convergence of game changing technologies: big data, ubiquitous sensors and actuators combined with advanced analytics result in algorithms that can model, adapt, predict and act autonomously in a connected world. Such algorithms can approve loans, replenish inventory, trade stocks, control traffic flow, detect anomaly-based intrusions, drive cars, monitor health and administer drugs, manage energy consumption, predict crime hot spots, write news articles, and make recruitment and retrenchment decisions. The increasingly powerful role of algorithms driven by big data in both industry and government also leads to questions about security, privacy, surveillance and algorithmic accountability, among others.
This conference will explore how organizations can – and do – learn, adapt and innovate to respond more effectively, efficiently, rapidly and responsibly to changing circumstances using bigger data, smarter analytics and safer security.
The 11th Annual Midwest Association for Information Systems Conference will accept current topics on pedagogy, research and service in IS and/or IT. The conference will provide an intimate environment to facilitate the sharing of ideas and findings. MWAIS 2016 seeks to expand the information frontiers of IS and we invite submissions reflecting a plurality of perspectives on the field of IS. Submissions of an interdisciplinary nature are especially encouraged.
We will have several invited keynote speakers, panel sessions, presentation sessions, workshops, and a doctoral consortium. There will be speakers from academia, industry and government from across the Midwest region and beyond.
We are interested in a variety of topics that include, but are not limited to:
* Accounting information systems

The privacy and security of health information has long been a priority of medical practitioners and consumers. The protection of personal health information stored electronically is an area of growing concern for individuals, organizations, and governments. Threats to information security in the healthcare sector risk not only patients' identities and financial information, but health data as well. The exposure of such sensitive information can cause financial hardship, mental anguish, and especially in healthcare, lead to social stigma and effect medical decisions.
This mini-track aims to highlight a wide range of research focused on the protection of health information. The type and number of organizations that handle health data is multifarious and growing. To complicate matters further, the use of technologies such as internet-connected medical devices and telemedicine is also on the rise. Furthermore, handlers of health data face a wide variety of complex regulatory compliance issues. For these reasons, the protection of health information is distinctive and merits a focused research effort. Research and results from this mini-track will bring light to unique data protection issues in healthcare. This mini-track encourages interdisciplinary research, a wide variety of approaches, and both completed and in-progress research papers.
Possible Topics:
Possible research topics for this mini-track include, but are not limited to:
- Data protection in the healthcare supply chain
- Health data-centric security
- Health data protection regulation
- Regulatory compliance
- Regulatory enforcement
- Unique challenges for small healthcare organizations
- Healthcare workflow management for privacy/security
- Risks related mobile health, telemedicine, biomedical devices
- Patient/consumer concern regarding health data privacy

MT4BD 2016 Call For Papers
=====================================================
3nd Workshop on New Methods and Tools for Big Data (MT4BD-2016)
http://mt4bd.ceid.upatras.gr/
16-18 September 2016, Thessaloniki - Greece
SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: April 20th, 2016
=====================================================
We would like to cordially invite you to consider contributing a paper to
the
3nd Workshop on "New Methods and Tools for Big Data (MT4BD-20165)" - held
as a
part of the 12th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
Applications
and Innovations (AIAI 2016) https://conferences.cwa.gr/aiai2016/.
The provision of large amount of data from various sources (Internet,
Social Media,
Application Logs, Data Warehouses, Sensors, Mobiles, Open Data, etc.) is
now emerging
into the collection and processing of "Big Data". While Big Data notion is
adopted by
both academic and enterprise communities, there is currently a wide gap
between its
potential and its realization. Variety, velocity, scale, complexity,
interpretation
and security problems with Big Data raise challenges at all phases of the
pipeline
that can extract information and knowledge from it. Thus, there is a
natural interest
in using these data assets to improve a variety of applications. It is very
interesting
to explore how researchers utilize data-driven strategies and discover what
disciplines
will change because of the advent of data. With the vast amount of data now
available,
modern businesses are facing the challenges of storage, management,
analysis, privacy,
visualization, security and data integration.
The aim of this workshop is to serve as an interdisciplinary forum for
bringing together
specialists from the scientific areas of Computer Engineering,
Bioinformatics-Personalized
Medicine, Finance and Operational Research. The focus of this workshop is
on current
technological advances and challenges about the development of big
data-driven algorithms
and methods and tools. Furthermore, it would be very interesting to
investigate if the use
of a vast amount of data leads to more accurate models or not.
Following the success of the previous two MT4BD (MT4BD2014 and MT4BD2015)
aims to further promote the formation of a community around the topic and
gather an increased number of researchers and practitioners.
