CALL FOR PAPERS
============================
Workshop on Learning in the (Semantic) Cloud - LC 2015
(http://lc2015.dibris.unige.it/) in conjunction with the ACM HyperText
Conference(http://ht.acm.org/ht2015), September 1-4, 2015, Middle East
Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus.
IMPORTANT DATES
---------------
Submission of papers: 19 June 2015 - 23:59 Hawaii Standard Time
(Extended Deadline)
Notification of authors: 10 July 2015
Delivery of camera-ready copy: 20 July 2015
Workshop day: 01 September 2015
PROCEEDINGS
-----------
Accepted papers will appear in the Hypertext 2015 Companion Proceedings
that will be published by the ACM.
MOTIVATIONS
------------
The evolution of hypermedia content on the Web and the growing
popularity of mobile devices are leading to a paradigm shift in the way
educational services are provided. Emerging approaches such as cloud
technology, semantic web and MOOC are fostering this change, and opening
unprecedented possibilities for education. The Learning in the Cloud
workshop aims to bring together researchers from industry and academia
to address the challenges of the cloud era for learning.
DESCRIPTION
------------
The evolution of hypermedia content on the Web and the spread of handled
devices deeply changed the way people are using the Web for learning and
pushed education providers to offer a new wave of learning services.
Learners are now accustomed to mobile devices and require applications
that fit this modality of interaction. They want to be free to access
learning contents as they prefer, any time and anywhere, according to
their personal needs. In fact, we are moving towards a model where
people build their competences and skills individually, such as in
massive open online courses. Learners use and require online services to
explore, to interact, to share and to practice; search engines to
discover qualitative learning content that fit their needs, social
platforms to share contents and experiences.
Therefore, education providers of hypermedia content are becoming
providers of services. The increasing availability of cloud-based and
semantic-based technologies offers powerful capabilities to this aim and
have the potential to introduce a paradigm shift in the way educational
services are provided, substantially improving educational processes and
lowering the costs of providing higher and professional education.
Cloud technology refers to the set of technologies that enable hardware,
software and educational platforms to be provided as a service, so as to
increase efficiency and reduce costs. Semantic technologies, on the
other hand, can be deployed to enhance several features of educational
services: improving the search of resources and of learning services,
discovering relationships and patterns, personalizing the hypermedia
content and the service. In the last few years, the Web has become more
semantic, thanks to the growing adoption of Linked Data best practices.
However, while many education institutions started to publish huge
amount of LOD (Linked Open Data), these are not often interconnected
together or easy to process. Some initiatives such as the LinkedUp
competitions promote the development of tools and applications that
exploit Open Web data and the LOD cloud for educational purposes. This
workshop follows the same direction, but focuses also on the potential
synergy with cloud-based technologies. It aims to provide a forum for
addressing the challenges regarding the new trends for educational
hypermedia contents and services.
TOPICS
-------
We invite submissions that may include the following topics, but are not
limited to:
- semantic LMS services
- learning as a service
- adaptive learning
- mobile learning
- social learning
- learning on demand
- continuous learning
- ubiquitous learning
- cloud learning environments
- sharing of linked data and services in the cloud
- discovering relations

*ECML/PKDD 2015 Workshop on*
*Advanced Analytics and Learning on Temporal Data*
*CALL FOR PAPERS*
http://ama.liglab.fr/aaltd_ecml2015/
#################################################################
2015 International Workshop on Advanced Analytics and Learning on
Temporal Data (AALTD 2015) will be held Friday, September 11, 2015 in
Porto, Portugal, co-located with ECML/PKDD 2015
<http://ecmlpkdd2015.org/>. The aim of this workshop is to bring
together researchers and experts in machine learning, data mining,
pattern analysis and statistics to share their challenging issues and
advance researches on temporal data analysis. Analysis and learning from
temporal data cover a wide scope of tasks including learning metrics,
learning representations, unsupervised feature extraction, clustering
and classification.
Temporal data are frequently encountered in a wide range of domains such
as bio-informatics, medicine, finance and engineering, among many
others. They are naturally present in applications covering language,
motion and vision analysis, or more emerging ones as energy efficient
building, smart cities, dynamic social media or sensor networks.
Contrary to static data, temporal data are of complex nature, they are
generally noisy, of high dimensionality, they may be non stationary
(i.e. first order statistics vary with time) and irregular (involving
several time granularities), they may have several invariant
domain-dependent factors as time delay, translation, scale or tendency
effects. These temporal peculiarities make limited the majority of
standard statistical models and machine learning approaches, that mainly
assume i.i.d data, homoscedasticity, normality of residuals, etc. To
tackle such challenging temporal data, one appeals for new advanced
approaches at the bridge of statistics, time series analysis, signal
processing and machine learning. Defining new approaches that transcend
boundaries between several domains to extract valuable information from
temporal data is undeniably a hot topic in the near future, that has
been yet the subject of active research this last decade.
Topics of Interest
The proposed workshop welcomes papers that cover, but not limited to,
one or several of the following topics:
* Temporal data clustering
* Semi-supervised and supervised classification on temporal data
* Deep learning and learning representations for temporal data
* Metric and kernel learning for temporal data
* Modeling temporal dependencies
* Advanced forecasting and prediction models
* Space-temporal statistical analysis
* Functional data analysis methods
* Temporal data streams
* Dimensionality reduction, sparsity, algorithmic complexity and big
data challenge
* Bio-informatics, medical, energy consumption, applications on

IWSAC 2015 BACKGROUND AND GOALS
The ongoing merge between Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) and the
Cloud computing paradigm provides a new environment fostering the
integration of services located within company boundaries with those in the
Cloud. An increasing number of organizations implement their business
processes and applications via runtime composition of services made
available in the Cloud by external suppliers. This scenario is changing the
traditional view of security introducing new service security risks and
threats, and requires re-thinking of current assurance, development,
testing, and verification methodologies. In particular, security assurance
in the cloud is becoming a pressing need to increase the confidence of the
cloud actors that the cloud and its services are behaving as expected, and
requires novel approaches addressing SOA and cloud peculiarities. IWSAC 2015
is the third edition of the International Workshop on Security Assurance in
the Cloud. It aims to address the security assurance issues related to the
deployment of services in the Cloud, along with evaluating their impact on
traditional security solutions for software and network systems.
The workshop seeks submissions from academia and industry presenting novel
research on all theoretical and practical aspects of security and assurance
of services implemented in the Cloud, as well as experimental studies in

3rd International Workshop on Smart Sensor Protocols and Algorithms (SSPA 2015)
http://jlloret.webs.upv.es/sspa2015/
in conjunction with The 8th IFIP Wireless and Mobile Networking Conference (WMNC' 15)
Munich, Germany, October 5-7, 2015.
http://www.wmnc2015.com/
SCOPE:
Smart Sensor protocols and algorithms make use of several methods and techniques (such as machine learning techniques, decision making techniques, knowledge representation, network optimization, problem solution techniques, and so on), to establish communication between network devices. They can be used to perceive the network conditions, or the user behavior, in order to dynamically plan, adapt, decide, take the appropriate actions, and learn from the consequences of their actions. The algorithms can make use of the information gathered from the protocol in order to sense the environment, plan actions according to the input, take consciousness of what is happening in the environment, and take the appropriate decisions using a reasoning engine. Goals such as decide which scenario fits best its end-to-end purpose, or environment prediction, can be achieved with smart protocols and algorithms. Moreover, they could learn from the past and use this knowledge to improve future de!
cisions.
In this workshop, researchers are encouraged to submit papers focused on the design, development, analysis or optimization of smart sensor protocols or algorithms at any communication layer. Algorithms and protocols based on artificial intelligence techniques for network management, network monitoring, quality of service enhancement, performance optimization and network secure are included in the workshop.
This conference edition once again targets to gather researchers from academia and industrial sectors to present analytical research, simulations, practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, and advances in sensor protocols and algorithms. The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, standards, deployments, implementations, running experiments and applications.
