*** Workshop PMBI 2010 ***
*** "Protocol based modelling of business interactions" ***
In conjunction with 40th annual conference of the German Gesellschaft für
Informatik
from 27.9. - 2.10.2010 in Leipzig (Germany) http://www.informatik2010.de/http://www.informatik.uni-kiel.de/en/bit/veranstaltungen/workshop-protocol-…
====================================================================================
Duration: 1 day (30.09.2010)
Content
-------
This Workshop is intended as continuation of the Workshop "Games, business
processes and interaction models of the 39th annual conference of the German
Gesellschaft für Informatik 2009 at Lübeck.
The relevance of software directly involved in business interactions has
enormously grown in modern commerce within the last years. Therefore, it is an
obvious requirement that business software which supports business interactions
should mirror the orientation of entrepreneurial acting along the business
interactions in the simplest possible way. To become runtime relevant from an
application perspective, the interpretation of the descriptions of business
interactions has to be unambiguously related to computational systems.
We expect a promising impetus with respect to the automated implementation of
business interactions. Especially small and medium enterprises should benefit
as they are currently discouraged to explore this area by the still high
initial investments. The starting point of this workshop is the assumption that
economics with its game theory based notion describes the same interactions as
computer science does with its descriptions of nondeterministic interactions of
business processes. Due to the tight formal relation between (economic) game
and (computer science) protocol, it is obvious to use the protocol notion not
just for informal illustrations, as many contemporary approaches do, but also
to view protocol theory as a sound formal base for the description of business
interactions in the sense of a theory for consistent finite interaction of
(possibly finite) systems.
Addressees
----------
This workshop supposes to provide the opportunity to bring together scientist
of the field of business informatics with a special interest in business
interactions and scientist of the more theoretical oriented field of protocol
theory. We therefore invite scientific contributions which demonstrate the
relevance of protocol theory for the formal description of nondeterministic
business interactions either in practical or theoretical respect, if applicable
with a relation to game theory.

*** Workshop PMBI 2010 ***
*** "Protokol-basierte Modellierung von Geschäftsinteraktionen" ***
Im Rahmen der 40. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik
vom 27.9. - 2.10.2010 in Leipzig (Germany) http://www.informatik2010.de/http://www.informatik.uni-kiel.de/bit/veranstaltungen/workshop-protocol-bas…
====================================================================================
Zeitlicher Umfang: Ganztätig (30.09.2010)
Inhalt
------
Dieser Workshop ist als Fortsetzung des Workshops "Spiele, Geschäftsprozesse
und Interaktionsmodelle" der 39. Jahrestagung der Gesellschaft für Informatik
2009 in Lübeck gedacht.
spieltheoretisch fundierten Spielbegriff dieselben Interaktionen beschreibt,

Call for Papers
-----------------------------------
Workshop "IT-Governance in verteilten Systemen (GVS)" auf der Informatik
2010, Leipzig, 29.09.2010
Informationen bzgl. Fristen, Einreichungen etc. finden Sie auf
www.informatik2010.de bzw.

Einreichungsfrist: 07.05.2010
-----------------------------------
heutzutage nahezu unverzichtbar geworden.
Applikationen notwendig. Im Rahmen des Workshops "IT-Governance in
verteilten Systemen - GVS 2010" sollen aktuelle Forschungsarbeiten
einschließlich "Work in Progress" zum Themenkomplex IT-Governance in

CALL FOR PAPERS
Forty-Forth Annual Hawai'i International Conference on System Sciences
(HICSS-44)
January 4 - 7, 2011 (Tuesday-Friday)
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa on Kauai
http://kauai.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
Track: Internet and the Digital Economy
Minitrack: Collaborative Commerce
*Topics of Interest: Collaborative commerce*
*Electronic Customer Relationship Management*
The conduct of business using internet technologies, often referred to
as electronic commerce (e-commerce), continues to be a significant,
pervasive issue for both enterprises and customers. eCommerce is
comprised of two relationship types: those between enterprises and
customers; and those between and among enterprises. It is the former
this minitrack addresses. Fundamentally eCRM concerns attracting and
keeping "*Economically Valuable*" customers and repelling and
eliminating "*Economically Invaluable*" ones. We are on the threshold of
a shift from a transaction-based economy to a '*relationship-based
economy*'.
The continuing importance of managing customer relationships in
eCommerce and mCommerce is the stimulus for this minitrack. There are 8
major non-mutually-exclusive topics within this minitrack. Each major
topic is composed of minor ones, due to the complexity and richness of
eCRM issues that need to be researched. The proposed mini-track in
particular invites papers that address the business value of e-CRM.
Potential topics include but are not limited to:
1. Business Performance Issues in eCRM
2. eCRM within Markets
3. eCRM within Business Models
4. Knowledge Management for eCRM
5. eCRM Technological Issues
6. eCRM Human Issues
7. Security and Privacy Issues in eCRM
8. Case Studies and Demonstrations of 'Real World' eCRM and Applications
*Delivering Online Service -- The Role of ICT*
Complementary to the importance of managing customer relationships is
the requirement to delivery quality service. Currently the nature of
service delivery is undergoing extensive change. Increasingly customers
are interfacing directly with ICT systems and applications, or dealing
with the organisation via ICT-mediated channels rather than
face-to-face. Many IT-mediated services do not involve a direct
financial exchange, which is a further difference from traditional
face-to-face service. This mini-track explores the way that ICT is
changing the nature of the customer service experience, and business
models of customer management and service delivery.
We are interested in theoretical and empirical papers, including case
studies. Most importantly, we are interested in building a dialogue that
will provide new insights about customer management and service delivery.
Potential topics include but are not limited to:
* The changing nature of customer service quality in an ICT-mediated
environment -- how do services change without a human agent?
* New technologies for service delivery e.g. SMS
* Service quality in web portals
* Niche portals e.g. human resources, consumer health portals
* Web 2.0, communities, and services
* Service delivery in the multi-channel organization
* Self-service technologies
* User perceptions of the self-service experience, including
perceptions of trust and risk and self-service role
* New methods and metrics for assessing services quality in an
ICT-mediated context
* Developing customer loyalty and building a service brand in online
environments
*Co-chairs*

CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS
Proposal Submission Deadline: April 30, 2010 (2 - 3 page proposal)
Information Systems for Global Financial Markets: Emerging Developments and Effects
A book edited by Dr. Alexander Yap
Elon University, Elon, North Carolina, USA
Introduction
Financial markets around the world can affect each other in merely a matter of seconds as financial information systems are programmed to buy or sell stocks and financial derivatives automatically when activated by sudden changes in global market trends and conditions. Information systems are highly critical in managing the trade of stocks, options, futures, forex, metals and other commodities. Because of these systems, volatile movements in one major financial market (NYSE, Nikkei) can have drastic effects on the global prices of financial instruments. There are also financial information systems that serve as intelligent systems, expert systems, and knowledge-base systems, providing algorithms and tactical information for predicting price movements and providing decision-support for traders and investors. Several fund managers, hedge funds, and individual traders depend on these systems daily. Trillions of dollars go through global financial trading systems, and yet not enough academic research has been devoted to information systems for financial markets.
Objective of the Book
The vision for creating this body of research in one book is to take a much deeper look inside the systems and technologies that (1) provide intelligence and expertise to traders and investors, and (2) facilitate the agile ordering processes, networking, and regulation of global financial electronic markets. How these systems work to manipulate, move, and provide intelligence to the stock market is still a mystery to many students, and it is the intent of this book to provide real-world cases and examples that can unveil these systems to business students interested in financial trading, the dynamics of financial electronic markets, and the tactical technologies that facilitate the trading process and trading decisions. There is a growing demand for IT jobs in the financial sector, making this body of research very timely for university students.
Target Audience
This book is essential to both information systems and finance students and practitioners, who are looking forward to a profession that deals with technology-enabled systems in the finance sector. Several universities have their own finance trading room, where students enrolled in some courses are asked to manage stock portfolios using these systems. In such context, this book is an ideal reference or supplement for courses that deal with stock trading and investments using trading technologies. IS students, practitioners, and faculty are also beginning to realize that the Finance sector is a sector that information systems graduates can work with due to the increasing demand for technical skills in this sector. Likewise, students of finance are aware that information systems are critical and necessary tools in their discipline as well.
Recommended Topics:
Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) or Financial E-Markets
Technologies used for predicting and forecasting stock price movements
Online brokerage trading systems and technologies
Use of technology for integrating global stock market trading systems

_*Call for Proposals* for a Special Issue of /Management Science/ in
Information Systems _
We are seeking proposals for a special issue of /Management Science/ in
the Information Systems Department.
/Management Science/ is an elite scholarly journal that publishes
scientific research into the practice of management
(http://www.informs.org/Journal/ManSci). The Information Systems
Department at /Management Science/ seeks to publish groundbreaking and
distinctive research that addresses the interplay between managerial
decisions and information technologies and systems, including issues
relating to the development, deployment and use of information
technology, as well as the impact of information technology on the
economy, industries, organizations, processes, and individuals.
The special issue in Information Systems at /Management Science/ is
intended to provide an important venue for collecting high quality
research relating to information systems, and to stimulate submissions
on emerging information systems topics or methodologies that would not
normally have appeared in the Journal.
Individuals interested in proposing and co-editing a special issue of
/Management Science/ in Information Systems should submit a proposal
that complies with the following requirements:
1. Proposals for a Special Issue must be submitted to the Information
Systems Department co-editors (Lorin Hitt and Sandra Slaughter) for
approval, *_no later than July 1, 2010_*. The IS Department co-editors
will make a decision in consultation with the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief
on whether to proceed with the proposed Special Issue in light of: a)
whether the topic is congruent with the mission of the Journal and the
Information Systems Department, in particular; b) whether the Journal’s
editorial standards will be maintained; and c) whether the proposed
topic would be judged to receive sufficient interest from the community
and the editorial board to provide reviewing resources.
2. Proposals should describe the Special Issue topic, goals, sample
research areas or questions, and should describe how the special issue
relates to information systems and why a special issue is needed to
attract research on this topic (i.e., why wouldn’t the Journal normally
receive submissions on the proposed topic?)
3. Special Issues may have a single Special Issue editor or several
co-editors. It is required that at least one of the co-editors of a
Special Issue be either a current or past Associate Editor or
Departmental Editor at /Management Science/, in good standing.
Co-editors must demonstrate expertise in the topic area, methodology and
problem domain of the proposed Special Issue. The publication record and
editorial experience of the proposed Special Issue co-editors will be
considered when evaluating proposals.
4. Proposals should describe the review process and approach for
obtaining resources to review submitted manuscripts. In particular, if
the proposal for the Special Issue is approved, the co-Editors for the
Special Issue shall obtain agreement from individuals willing to help
review papers submitted to the Special Issue. The names of these
individuals must be submitted to the IS Department co-Editors for
approval. The individuals will be informed of and agree to review for
the Special Issue. The Call for Papers for the Special Issue can be made
only after the IS Department co-Editors have given approval to the names
of individuals who have agreed to assist with the Special Issue.
5. In order to avoid even the appearance of conflict of interest, any
Special Issue editor or co-editor may not be an author or co-author on
any submitted paper to the Special Issue. However, the co-editors may
write a short article introducing the special issue.
Please send your proposal for a Special Issue no later than July 1,
2010, to the /Management Science/, Information Systems Department
