Dear Gustaf Neumann,
Let me kindly inform you that the 7th Int'l Conf. on Web Information Systems and Technologies (WEBIST 2011 - http://www.webist.org), to be held in Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands (6 - 9 May, 2011) is now welcoming the submission of position papers. The submission deadline is scheduled for next January 4th.
A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topic areas. The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster", i.e. a position paper is not a candidate to acceptance as "full paper". BLFA

Research papers should be submitted electronically via the EasyChair
system at 13 March 2011.
Initial submissions must be received no later than 6 March 2011
(including at least title and abstract). Final papers must be submitted
by 13 March 2011. Submission details and formatting instructions are
given at the website. All accepted papers will be included in the
conference proceedings published by Springer-Verlag in their LNCS
series. For each accepted paper, at least one author is required to
register for the conference and should plan to present the paper.
Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version
of their paper to a special issue Information Systems (an Elsevier
Science Journal).
Additional Conference Activities
The BPM 2011 conference will include a diverse set of tracks and
activities in addition to the main research track. As with previous
editions of the conference, there will be several associated workshops
that explore newly emerging approaches, methods, and technologies in the
BPM space. All or most of these workshops will be held on 29 August
2011. The Demo Track will showcase new, innovative systems that
illustrate key BPM functionalities. The proceedings of the workshops,
and short papers describing the demos, will be published in a volume of
Springer’s Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP). The
Industrial Experiences track aims at bridging the viewpoints of leading
research outcomes with practical demands and industrial experience;
practitioners are encouraged to submit papers reporting on innovative
industrial implementations and applications of BPM methods and
techniques, with a particular emphasis on their impact on information
technology use or business practice. The conference will include
tutorials on cutting-edge frameworks and associated principled
techniques for solving BPM challenges. There are plans for a Doctoral
Consortium, that will provide students in advanced stages of their
dissertation work an opportunity to share their research with peers,
world-class researchers, and industry experts in Business Process
Management. Finally, a summer school directly following the main
conference is envisioned.

CALL FOR PAPERS
interPM 2011
GPM Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement e.V.
Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. Fachgruppe WI-PM Projektmanagement
laden zur gemeinsamen Veranstaltung
Konferenz zur Zukunft im Projektmanagement
Neu denken: vom Projekt-zum Netzwerkmanagement
virtueller Projektraum?

CALL FOR PAPERS
Track "Business Process Management"
_http://www.ecis2011.fi/
_
at the
19th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2011)
Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, June 9-11, 2011
_http://www.ecis2011.fi
_
Business Process Management (BPM) can be defined as the set
of concepts, methods and tools
dedicated to the definition, implementation, improvement and
structuring of processes in organizations.
It emerged as a combination of mature organizational
concepts (BPR, Six Sigma, TQM) and process-
supporting technologies such as workflow management, BPM
systems and service-enabled solutions.
The use of business process automation promises significant
efficiency gains for organizations through
the coordination of activities, process participants and the
integration of applications. The high demand
for BPM is grounded in the ongoing pressure to improve
operational efficiencies, opportunities related
to process outsourcing/off-shoring and the interest in
process standards such as ITIL and SCOR. Not
surprisingly, global analysts such as the Gartner Group have
identified Business Process Management
as the number one priority of CIOs for the last seven years.
While a large body of knowledge related to modeling,
simulating and executing business processes exists,
BPM has hardly been subjected to 'classic' Information
Systems questions. Such questions go beyond the
design of BPM systems and surround the adoption, use, and
implications of BPM approaches and technologies
in organization. The proposed BPM track will encourage the
wider adoption of Information Systems research
in the increasingly popular and important domain of BPM. In
alignment with the overall topic of the conference,
the proposed track will focus topics such as
- Success factors and measures of BPM
- BPM adoption models
- BPM governance
- Business process innovation
- Business process outsourcing
- Process-aware Information Systems
- Inter-organizational BPM
- Process performance measurement
- BPM in different industries
- Process reference models
The proposed track will explicitly encourage research using
a wide variety of papers covering quantitative and
qualitative, empirical and theoretical research
methodologies such as case studies, action research,
surveys, experiments and Design Science.
Types of Contributions
The proposed track on Business Process Management intends to
attract the full spectrum of submissions types including:
· Full research papers that represent a mature IS-view
on Business Process Management
· Research-in-progress papers that explore emerging
areas of BPM-related research
· Teaching cases that together with teaching notes will
be beneficial for the large growing number of IS courses
that cover BPM topics.

2nd IUI Workshop on
Semantic Models for Adaptive Interactive Systems (SEMAIS 2011)
February 13, 2011, Palo Alto, CA, USA
Abstract submission deadline: November 19, 2010
http://www.semais.org
Proceedings will be published electronically (CEUR-WS)
=========================================================================
WORKSHOP GOALS
Semantic technologies and, in particular, ontologies as formal, shareable
representations of a domain of interest play an increasingly important role
also for the design, development, and execution of user interfaces and more
generally interactive systems. Semantic models can serve a number of
different purposes in this context. They can be used as application or
interface models in model-driven design, generation at design time as well
as at runtime, and integration of user interfaces. Ontologies may enhance
the visualization and interaction capabilities of user interfaces in various
ways, e.g., by providing input assistance, intelligently clustering
information, or adapting the user interface according to the user’s
context.
Especially in the latter case, ontologies can be applied for representing
the various kinds of context information for context-aware and adaptive
systems. In particular, they have promised to provide a technique for
representing external physical context factors such as location, time or
technical parameters and ‘internal’ context such as user interest
profiles or interaction context in a consistent, generalized manner. Owing
to these properties, semantic models can also contribute to bridging gaps,
e.g., between user models, context-aware interfaces and model-driven UI
generation.
There is, therefore, a considerable potential for using semantic models as a
basis for adaptive interactive systems. The range of potential adaptations
is wide comprising, for example, context- and user-dependent
recommendations, interactive assistance when performing application-specific
tasks, adaptation of the application functionality, or adaptive retrieval
support. Furthermore, a variety of reasoning and machine learning techniques
exist, that can be employed to achieve adaptive system behavior.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
Following up the succesfull 1st SEMAIS workshop at IUI 2010, the workshop
will address, among others, the following research issues:
- Improve UI quality by using semantic models.
- Representing user models, systems and their behavior, domain knowledge and
interaction context by means of semantic models.
- Cognitively or neurally founded reasoning techniques such as activation
spreading for semantic user models.
- Context-aware interaction based on semantic models.
- Adaptation strategies and techniques based on semantic models for e.g.
recommender systems, adaptive retrieval, collaboration support systems and
others.
- Generating explanations or visualizations to increase user confidence and
support traceability.
- Scalability and performance of semantic model-based interactive systems.
- Semantic model-driven UI development.
- Generation and evolution of semantic models for interactive systems.
- Suitability of highly formal vs. light-weight semantic representations.
- Consuming linked data in user interfaces.
- Bringing ontologies together with current UI modeling languages, such as
UsiXML.
- Evaluation approaches for adaptive interaction.
SUBMISSIONS AND PARTICIPATION
Prospective participants should submit a 2-page position paper describing
their interests and work in the topic of the workshop. First comments on
(one or more of) the following topics we intend to discuss at the workshop
are also welcome, but not mandatory (additional questions are also welcome):
- What are the major challenges (technical, organizational etc.) for
developing or generating user interfaces based on semantic models?
- For which kinds of systems or applications are semantic models
particularly useful?
- In which ways will semantic technologies affect user interfaces in the
future?
- What kinds of context-adaptivity do you see as particularly promising?
- How can adaptive model driven user interfaces be evaluated?
We will select participants based on the abstract's quality and the
diversity of their backgrounds, aiming at an interdisciplinary group. The
selected presenters will be asked to provide an extended 5-page position
paper one month before the workshop. These position papers will be
circulated in advance for participants to get an understanding of the mutual
views and to provide a starting point for the discussion.
Accepted submissions will be published electronically via CEUR-WS. Please
submit your contributions in PDF format to submissions(a)semais.org.

Description of the Track
The focus of this track is on the business use of Web 2.0 (social)
technologies. Due to the exponential growth in the adoption of Web 2,
such as Blogs, Twitter, Wikis, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, Really
Simple Syndication (RSS), Folksonomy, Mashups, MySpace by individuals
it is considered important to investigate opportunities for
organizations to exploit these technologies for business value.
It is essential to understand issues in relation to these technologies
as they support various entities and networks. Web 2.0 applications
are easy to create, edit, are accessible, support real time
communication, enable mobility and are essentially free. Web 2.0
technologies present organizations with tremendous opportunities but
clearly entail a number of challenges. Individuals are resorting to
these technologies for communication, networking and creating
identities. However, these technologies are emerging and issues in
relation to their development and use by businesses are largely
unknown. The Track is therefore intended to enable a very high scope
for research into a myriad of Web 2.0 related issues. Its aim is to
provide a platform for theoretical, conceptual and empirical
presentations and discussion of Web 2.0 applications from researchers
and practitioners.
Topics of interest may include the following:
• Business applications of Web 2.0 technologies
• Strategic alignment of Web 2.0 technologies to business strategies
• Theories, concepts and tools for successful adoption of Web 2.0 technologies
• Security and privacy issues in Web 2.0 technologies
• Business benefits achieved from Web 2.0 applications
• Challenges of integration, organizational transformation and change
management
• Social networks and information management
• Challenges of information presentation on Web 2.0 technologies
• Success and failure factors
• Future applications of Web 2.0 technologies
Types of Contribution
This Track intends to solicit full research papers, research in
progress as well as teaching cases to capture concepts, theories,
methods and empirical findings on new and relevant issues for Web 2.0
technologies.
