2008 International Workshop on Multimedia Security in Communication (MUSIC'08)
In Conjunction with ChinaCom'08, August 25-27, 2008, Hangzhou, China
http://www.music-com.org/
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The rapid development of communication techniques allows us to transmit more than text/binary data in real time. Due to unique characteristics of multimedia content, such as large data volumes, interactive operations, and requires real-time responses, the problems multimedia security need to address are different from text/binary data security. Furthermore, multimedia security is highly services-dependable. Different services require different methods for content transmission or distribution, paying, interaction, etc.
This workshop aims to bring together research work covering various aspects of multimedia security in emerging services. The services may work in the following environment: Internet, mobile TV, IPTV, IMS, VoIP, P2P, sensor network, network convergence, etc. The paper may focus on architecture construction, algorithm designing or hardware implementation. Both review paper and technical paper are expected.
This workshop solicits papers reporting recent unpublished works in the general area of multimedia security. The topics include but not limited to:
Security threats to multimedia content in new services
Security model for new services
Lightweight multimedia encryption for services
Information hiding in multimedia content
Multimedia forensics
Secure multimedia adaptation
Multimedia copy tracking
Multimedia content authentication
Multimedia content filtering
Secure payment for services
Key management/distribution
User authentication in services
Biometric Security
Intrusion detection/prevention
Network filtering
Secure set-top box
Secure Smart Cards
Secure SIM card
Secure telecom/broadcast convergence
Secure mobile/Internet convergence
Interoperable DRM systems
Conditional access systems
Security protocols or standards
Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks in multimedia application

========= 2nd Call for Workshop Proposals =========
ICDM '08: The 8th IEEE International Conference on Data Mining
Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society
December 15 and 19, 2008 Pisa, Italy
http://icdm08.isti.cnr.it/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Workshop Proposals Due: April 15, 2008
Please email your workshop proposal to icdm08-workshops(a)isti.cnr.it
The Program Committee of the 8th IEEE International Conference on Data
Mining (ICDM '08) invites proposals for Workshops. The Workshops will be
held on December 15 and 19, 2008, the first and last ICDM Conference days.
The workshop organizers will be responsible for advertising the workshop,
forming the program committees, reviewing and selecting the papers, and
guaranteeing high quality worthy of the prestige and range of the
Conference.
All papers accepted for workshops will be included in the Workshop
Proceedings
published by the IEEE Computer Society Press and will be available at the
workshops.
The workshop organizers will also have the discretion of editing selected
papers (after their expansion and revision) into books or special journal
issues. Workshops may be full-day or half-day. A full-day workshop should
select 12-16 regular papers, while a half-day workshop should select 6-8
regular papers, from a large number of submissions.
A "forward to workshops" mechanism will be adopted this year,
where a paper not accepted for the conference can be (at the author's
request)
"fast-tracked" to a workshop, preserving reviews. The workshop organizer
could take this into consideration in paper selection; they are free to
combine this with workshop-specific reviews and also free in their weighting
of the conference reviews. The workshop organizers should ensure the
presence of authors of accepted papers at the workshops.
Each workshop subject will focus on new research challenges and initiatives
in Data Mining. The workshops should provide an informal and vibrant forum
for researchers and industry practitioners to share their research results
and practical development experiences in the data mining field.
To further this goal, we specifically encourage workshop proposers to
employ innovative modes of calls for papers and of interaction during the
workshop, and to describe these modes in their workshop proposal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Workshop Proposal Submission
Workshop proposals should include the following elements:
- Title of the workshop
- Your name(s), affiliation(s), mailing address(es) and e-mail address(es)
- A description of the topic of the workshop (not exceeding 500 words)
and a first version of the call for papers
- A short description of the target audience
- Type of the workshop (full-day or half-day)
- A description of how the workshop will contribute to the field of
Data Mining and/or relevant Technology, specifically how it will foster
innovative fields in Data Mining.
- A short description of the workshop's relation to other events on the
same or similar topics that take place at other venues close in time to
ICDM'08
- Arrangements for the organization of the workshop, including a brief
outline of the workshop describing anticipated format and possible session
names
- A short description on how the workshop will be advertised so as to
ensure a sufficiently wide range of authors and high quality papers
- A short description of the planned publication strategy
- Names, addresses, and home page links of people who have agreed to be
part of the workshop program committee if the workshop proposal is accepted
- A brief description of the organizers' experience and background in the
topic,
and links to web pages of the workshop chairs
After the acceptance of a workshop proposal the organizer(s) should:
- Create a "Call for papers/participation" for the workshop
- Create a Web page for the workshop, the link of which will be published
on the Conference Web site
- Create a Board of Reviewers (Program Committee)
- Review and select papers
- Schedule the workshop activities
All submitted papers will be reviewed on the basis of technical quality,
relevance, significance, and clarity. Those papers selected by a
workshop organizer will also be reviewed by the Workshop Co-Chairs
for final acceptance. We will provide an online paper submission and
review system to support the workshops.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CALL FOR PAPERS
Second International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM
2008)
October 1-3, 2008
Napoli, Italy
http://www.kr.tuwien.ac.at/staff/lukasiew/sum08/
Originally, managing uncertainty and inconsistency has especially been
explored in Artificial Intelligence. During the recent years, especially
with the availability of massive amounts of data in different repositories
and the possibility of integrating and exploiting these data, technologies
for managing uncertainty and inconsistency have started to play a key role
in databases and the Web. One of the most prominent such technologies is
probably the PageRank algorithm standing behind Google's web search.
Techniques for handling uncertainty and inconsistency are expected to
play a similarly important role in the context of the Semantic Web.
The annual International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management
(SUM) has grown out of this very large interest on managing uncertainty
and inconsistency in databases, the Web, the Semantic Web, and AI. It aims
at bringing together all those interested in the management of large
volumes of uncertainty and inconsistency, irrespective of whether
they are in databases, the Web, the Semantic Web, or in AI.
The very successful First International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty
Management (SUM 2007) was held in Washington DC, USA, October 10-12, 2007
(see http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/conferences/sum2007/). The Second
International Conference on Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM 2008)
will be held in Napoli, Italy, October 1-3, 2008.
Papers are solicited in all areas of massive uncertainty and inconsistency,
including (but not restricted to) the topics listed below:
probability logic
fuzzy logic

***** USAB 2008 CALL FOR PAPERS (due to July, 7, 2008) ******
<Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CfP>
In order to further promote the collaboration between Psychology and
Computer Science, we are inviting your contribution to the USAB 2008.
USAB 2008 - Usability & HCI for Education & Work
4th Symposium of the Austrian Computer Society, WG HCI&UE
NOVEMBER 20-21, 2008, Graz, Austria
http://usab-symposium.tugraz.at
Today in education computers can be found everywhere; they are both
ubiquitous and pervasive. Systems supporting educational or work
scenarios are extremely sophisticated and technological performance
increases exponentially. However, human cognitive evolution does not
advance at the same speed. Consequently, the focus on interaction and
communication between human and computer is of increasing importance in
education and work, since the daily actions of the end-users are the
central concern and must be supported by surrounding technology, in
particular with new & emerging technologies.
Traditionally, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) bridges Psychology and
Computer Science, while Usability Engineering (UE), as an engineering
discipline, is firmly anchored in software technology. Together, HCI&UE
provide the emerging potential to assist the daily work flows in the
realm of education and work. Innovation and new developments often take
place just at the junction of two or more disciplines.
To promote closer collaboration between engineers, researchers and
teaching professionals, we invite you to participate in the 4th
Usability Symposium of the Austrian HCI&UE Group in Graz (Austria).
Mission Statement: Together Today, combining Data, Information and
Knowledge, to support the work of the Educational professionals of tomorrow!
We are seeking high quality papers, which will be reviewed in a full
paper double-blind review by at least three independent reviewers.
Accepted contributions will be presented during the symposium as full or
short paper. The conference language is English as it supports a broad
access within an international audience. Suggestions for Tutorials and
Workshops are also welcome.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Gemeinsamer Workshop
Gesundheitstelematik und eGK
der GI und GMDS
im Rahmen der GI-Jahrestagung "Informatik 2008" in München
08.-13.09.2008
***************************************************************************
Gesundheitstelematik und eGK
----------------------------
