PURPOSE/HISTORY:
This set of joint conferences is the largest annual gathering of
researchers in computer science, computer engineering and applied
computing. Many of the 25 joint conferences in WORLDCOMP are the
premier conferences for presentation of advances in their respective
fields. We anticipate to have 2,600 or more attendees from over 80
countries participating in the 2008 joint conferences.
The motivation is to assemble a spectrum of affiliated research
conferences into a coordinated research meeting held in a common
place at a common time. The main goal is to provide a forum for
exchange of ideas in a number of research areas that interact. The
model used to form these annual conferences facilitates communication
among researchers from all over the world in different fields of
computer science, computer engineering and applied computing. Both
inward research (core areas of computer science and engineering) and
outward research (multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary, and
applications) will be covered during the conferences.
WORLCOMP'08 will be composed of research presentations, keynote
lectures, invited presentations, tutorials, panel discussions, and
poster presentations. In recent past, keynote and/or tutorial speakers
included: Prof. Michael J. Flynn (Stanford U.); Prof. John H. Holland
(U. of Michigan, Ann Arbor); Prof. H. J. Siegel (Colorado State U.);
Prof. Barry Vercoe (MIT); Prof. Ruzena Bajcsy (U. of California,

H. R. Arabnia by Feb. 25, 2008. email submissions in MS document
or PDF formats are preferable (Fax or postal submissions are also
fine.) All reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (later,
the authors of accepted papers will be asked to follow a particular
typesetting format to prepare their papers for publication.)
The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited
to 7 (IEEE style) pages. Papers must not have been previously
published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The
first page of the draft paper should include: title of the paper,
name, affiliation, postal address, email address, and telephone
number for each author. The first page should also identify the
name of the Contact Author and a maximum of 5 topical keywords that
would best represent the content of the paper. Finally, the name
of the conference that the paper is being submitted to must be
stated on the first page.

impact, and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by two experts
in the field who are independent of the conference program committee.
The referees' evaluations will then be reviewed by two members of
the program committee who will recommend a decision to the chair of
the track that the paper has been submitted to. The chair will make
the final decision. Lastly, the Camera-Ready papers will be reviewed
by one member of the program committee.

Call for papers-
Special Issue in IEEE Trans. On Automation Science and Engineering about
"Scientific Workflow Management and Applications" -
http://www.swinflow.org/si/t-ase.htm.
Deadline: March 31, 2008.
Scientific workflow is a new special type of workflow that often underlies
many large-scale complex e-science applications such as climate modeling,
structural biology and chemistry, medical surgery or disaster recovery
simulation. Compared with business workflows, scientific workflow has
special features such as computation, data or transaction intensity, less
human interaction, and a large number of activities. Some emerging
computing infrastructures such as grid computing with powerful computing and
resource sharing capabilities present the potential for accommodating those
special features. Currently, many efforts are being on this new workflow
area, and workshops such as WaGe07, WORKS07, and NSF funded workshop on
challenges of scientific workflows have been or are being held to explore
scientific workflow issues. Gradually, research results are published and
several scientific workflow management systems such as Gridbus workflow,
SwinDeW-G, Kepler and Taverna are developed or evolved from existing
systems. However, in general, research and development in scientific
workflow management are still in their infancy with obscure knowledge of
scientific workflow specific features and techniques. This special issue
aims to systematically investigate and shape the special features,
challenges and new techniques of scientific workflows as well as
corresponding applications and underlying computing infrastructures.
Original and unpublished high-quality research results are solicited to
explore and boost the new area. The topics for contributions include, but
are not limited to:
* Special features of scientific workflows and their hints on new techniques
* Scientific workflow modeling, execution and scheduling
* Formal representation, scientific workflow patterns
* Control flows and data flows in scientific workflows
* Web/grid services based scientific workflows
* Application programming interface and Graphical user interface
* Scientific workflow verification and validation
* Exception handling, Quality of Service, performance and security issues in
scientific workflows
* Underlying infrastructures targeting scientific workflow support
* Real-world scientific workflow applications

======== Call For Papers ===================
International Conference on
Grid computing, high-performAnce
and Distributed Applications (GADA'08)
Monterrey, Mexico, Nov 13 - 14, 2008
http://www.cs.rmit.edu.au/fedconf
In the last decade, grid computing has developed into one of the most
important topics in the computing field. The research area of grid
computing has been making particularly rapid progress in the last few
years, due to the increasing number of scientific applications that are
demanding intensive use of computational resources and a dynamic and
heterogeneous infrastructure.
Within this framework, the GADA workshop arose in 2004 as a forum for
researchers in grid computing whose aim was to extend their background
in this area, and more specifically, for those who used grid
environments in managing and analyzing data. Both GADA'04 and GADA'05
were constituted as successful events, due to the large number of
high-quality papers received, as well as the brainstorming of
experiences and ideas interchanged in the associated forums. Because of
this demonstrated success, GADA was upgraded as a Conference within On
The Move Federated Conferences and Workshops (OTM'06). GADA'06 covered a
broader set of disciplines, although grid computing kept a key role in
the set of main topics of the conference.
The objective of grid computing is the integration of heterogeneous
computing systems and data resources with the aim of providing a global
computing space. The achievement of this goal is creating revolutionary
changes in the field of computation, because it enables resource sharing
across networks, with data being one of the most important resources.
Thus, data access, management and analysis within grid and distributed
environments are also dealt as main part of the conference.
Therefore, the main goal of GADA'08 is to provide a framework in which a
community of researchers, developers and users can exchange ideas and
works related to grid, high-performance and distributed applications and
systems. The second goal of GADA'08 is to create interaction between
grid computing researchers and the other OTM attendees.
GADA'08 intends to draw a highly diverse body of researchers and
practitioners by being part of the "On the Move to Meaningful Internet
Systems and Ubiquitous Computing 2008" federated conferences event that
includes five co-located conferences:
* GADA'08 (International Conference on Grid computing,
high-performAnce and Distributed Applications)
* CoopIS'08 (International Conference on Cooperative Information
Systems)
* DOA'08 (International Symposium on Distributed Objects and
Applications)
* ODBASE'08 (International Conference on Ontologies, DataBases, and
applications of Semantics)
* IS'08 (Information Security Symposium)

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Computational grids
* Data grids
* High-performance computing
* Distributed applications
* Cluster computing
* Parallel applications
* Grid infrastructures for data analysis
* High-performance computing for data-intensive applications
