WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Ubiquitous Web Systems and Intelligence represents a vision of the future
whereby information access and discovery is available everywhere. It integrates
concepts of ubiquitous and pervasive computing, web computing, and intelligent

using ubiquitous devices. These information may also be in a form of knowledge
discovered by the system. All of these are realized through the use of ambient
intelligence in which humans are surrounded by an environment which is sensitive and responsive to them.

We invite you to submit a draft of the paper of up to 10 pages in an LNCS format.
Submission to UWSI 2006 Workshop occurs through the ICCSA 2006 Cyberchair system
(http://cyberchair.iccsa.org/ <http://cyberchair.iccsa.org/> ). The electronic submission is articulated into
three phases:
Phase 1
Abstract submission: during the first step the contact author specifies the
title, the author(s), and other relevant information related to the contribution.
Pay attention during this phase to select UWSI 2006 Workshop, just before
specifying the Abstract of the contribution. After that submission, the contact
author receives the login (the e-mail address he specified for the Contact author)
and a password that will be required to proceed with step 2 (Paper submission)
and, if the paper is accepted, with step 3 (Camera Ready submission).
Please save the login and password for subsequent operations. If you loose them,
send an e-mail to osvaldo at unipg dot it
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Since the workshop will have different due dates with the ICCSA general
submission, please ensure that you select UWSI 2006 during the submission!
Phase 2
Paper submission: by specifying the above mentioned login and password,
the contact author submits the full paper in one of the following formats:
PDF (strongly recommended) or PS.
Phase 3 - Camera ready submission:after the reviewing process, if the paper
has been selected for publication in the LNCS Proceedings of ICCSA 2006, the contact
author must submit the revised Camera ready version of the paper and all source files

Call for Papers
Special Session on "Multi-objective Machine Learning"
2006 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (part of WCCI'06)
July 16-21, Vancouver, Canada
http://www.wcci2006.org/
Organized by Yaochu Jin (yaochu.jin(a)honda-ri.de)
URL: http://www.soft-computing.de/CFP_SS_MOML.html
Motivation and Scope:
Machine learning usually has to achieve multiple targets, which are often
conflicting with each other.
For example in feature selection, minimizing the number of features and the
maximizing feature
quality are two conflicting objectives. It is also well realized that model
selection has to deal with
the trade-off between model complexity and approximation or classification
accuracy.
Traditional learning algorithms attempt to deal with multiple objectives by
combining them into a
scalar cost function so that multi-objective machine learning problems are
reduced to single-objective
problems.
Recently, increasing interest has been shown in applying Pareto-based
multi-objective optimization
to machine learning, particularly inspired by the successful developments
in evolutionary multi-objective
optimization. It has been shown that the multi-objective approach to
machine learning is particularly
successful in 1) improving the performance of the traditional
single-objective machine learning
methods 2) generating highly diverse multiple Pareto-optimal models for
constructing ensembles and,
3) in achieving a desired trade-off between accuracy and interpretability
of neural networks or fuzzy
systems.
This proposed special session intends to further promote research interests
in multi-objective machine
learning by presenting the most recent research results and discussing the
main challenges in this area. Topics
include but are not limited to
* multi-objective clustering, feature extraction and feature selection
* multi-objective model selection to improve the performance of learning
models, such as neural networks,
support vector machines, decision trees, and fuzzy systems
* multi-objective model selection to improve the interpretability of
learning models, e.g., to extract
symbolic rules from neural networks, or to improve the interpretability
of fuzzy systems
* multi-objective generation of learning ensembles
* multi-objective learning to deal with tradeoffs between plasticity and
stability, long-term and short-term
memories, specialization and generalization
* multi-objective machine learning applications
Submission:
All special session papers must be submitted no later than January 31, 2005
through the conference
webpage. Please notice me by sending me an email if you are interested in
submitting a paper
to the Special Session.

ICWS 2006 organizing committee invites you to participate in the fourth year of ICWS in Chicago, USA on 18-22 September 2006.
ICWS has been a prime international forum for both researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the latest fundamental advances in the state of the art and practice of Web Services. ICWS also aims to identify emerging research topics and define the future of Web Services. Over the past four years, ICWS has grown steadily, attracting over 200 participants on a regular basis. ICWS 2005 was held on July 11-15, 2005 in Orlando, Florida, USA; ICWS 2004 was held on July 6-9, 2004 in San Diego, California, USA; ICWS 2003 was held on June 23-26, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
ICWS 2006 will be co-located with the 2006 IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2006), the 30th Annual International Computer Software and Applications Conference (COMPSAC 2006), and the 2006 IEEE Workshops on Software Technology and Engineering Practice (STEP 2006). IEEE Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) Industry Summit and IEEE International Services Computing Contest will also be featured at this joint event.
The technical program will include refereed paper presentations, panels, and poster sessions in both research and industry tracks. Workshops and tutorials will run before and throughout the conference.
