: JOURNAL OF DECISION SYSTEMS
:
: CALL FOR PAPERS - SPECIAL ISSUE ON:
:
: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems and their impact on Decision
: Making
:
: The Journal of Decision Systems (JDS) invites researchers to contribute to a
: special issue of JDS on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their
: impact on decision making. This special issue will also focus on other
: related types of integrated information systems in the areas of Customer
: Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) and their
: impact on managerial practices. It has been argued that these recently
: described systems have the potential to revolutionise businesses and result
: in much more reliable circulation of data amongst organisational actors and
: increased visibility on the key aspects of the business. There is, however,
: empirical evidence that ERP systems may not deliver as many benefits as is
: claimed by vendors, consultants and, sometimes, academic researchers. One
: crucial test in relation to the impact these systems are having on
: organisations is to measure the extent to which they are changing the way
: managers approach the problems they face. Do ERP systems really help
: managers in identifying and tackling problems, or are they just operational
: level systems? Do they deliver tangible managerial benefits or are they just
: a way of keeping auditors and shareholders happy?
:
: We seek to publish research papers which investigate the impact which new
: types of integrated information systems such as ERP, CRM and SCM, are having
: on the decision making processes of organisations. Papers that use in-depth
: case studies of organisations which have developed or implemented ERP, CRM
: or SCM systems to derive practical advice for managers are also invited.
:
: Topics include but are not limited to:
:
: * Managerial goals of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
: implementations
: * Success of ERP implementations in managerial terms and benefits
: delivered
: * Experiences with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and
: their impact on decision making processes
: * Experiences with Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems and their
: impact on decision making processes
: * Evidence of organisational learning with integrated systems
:
: Each article submitted for this special issue will be reviewed by two
: knowledgeable IS researchers and the Guest Editors. The final decision will
: be made by the Guest Editor and the full time Editors of JDS. Manuscripts
: should normally be 5,000-7,000 words. Detailed instructions for authors can
: be found at the web site for this special issue at
: http://afis.ucc.ie/fadam/jds-cfp.htm Authors can contact the Guest Editor
: for this special issue at any time if they require additional information or
: have specific queries regarding the type of paper expected and the topics
: preferred.
:
: Deadline for submission: November 30th, 2000
: Notification of referees' reports: February 28th, 2001
: Final Paper Due: April 30th, 2001
: Date for journal publication: Summer 2001

: BENCHMARKING INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL - Special Issue On:
:
: ELECTRONIC COMMERCE: A BEST PRACTICE PERSPECTIVE
:
: The increasing forces of intensifying global competition,
: continuing customer demands, and the significant revolution in
: digital communication technologies have together put pressure
: upon many organisations to switch their operations into the
: e-business world by making use of Electronic Commerce (EC)
: technologies such as the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW)
: as media for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer
: (B2C) transactions. This process potentially facilitates the
: expansion and development of new linkages among various business
: partners around the globe. It also speeds up information flow
: and enables information and knowledge sharing with other
: entities in a boundaryless business supply chain.
:
: Papers are invited for a special edition of the Benchmarking
: International Journal (BIJ) on Electronic Commerce: A Best
: Practice Perspective. The aim is to publish high quality
: original work highlighting various organisational issues
: involved in the application of Electronic Commerce (EC)
: technologies in various domains and business sectors. BIJ has
: been pioneering in promoting and disseminating best practices
: relating to various IT and business aspects. It is on this
: premise that this issue is expected to provide both academics
: and practitioners with a frame of reference with which they can
: reposition their EC experiences based on well-established best
: practices. Therefore, conceptual and analytical models,
: strategic frameworks, surveys, and case studies focusing on the
: tools/techniques, justification, design and application of EC
: are welcome from both the academic and industrial community.
: Contributed papers may deal with, but are not limited to:
:
: · Business design/architecture for EC application.
: · E-transaction security and risk mitigation.
: · Techniques of consumer behavior analysis in EC context.
: · Web-enabled business process improvement.
: · E-business knowledge management.
: · Web-based marketing strategies and models.
: · Corporate strategic planning for EC adoption.
: · EC performance metrics.
: · Web-based system analysis and design.
: · Investment/evaluation process.
: · EC-induced supply chain management.
: · EC and organisational change management.
: · Socio-technical infrastructure for EC.
: · Global issues of EC application.
: · EC and competitiveness.
: · Success and failure in EC implementation.
: · EC in IS curriculum.
: · Methodological aspects of EC research.
: · Critical success/failure factors.
:
: A 300-word proposal should be sent, for guidance on
: appropriateness, to the guest editor (mmashari(a)ccis.ksu.edu.sa)
: by e-mail. The proposal must be embedded into e-mail message and
: not attached. Closing date for receipt of proposals is 10
: September, 2000.
:
: Full papers should be 3000-5000 words in length, single-spaced,
: full justified, and in A4 Word format submitted electronically
: to the guest editor (mmashari(a)ccis.ksu.edu.sa) by 10 December,
: 2000. All contributions will be subjected to a rigorous blind
: review by at least two experts. Full papers, following the BIJ
: guidelines, should be submitted as two Word file attachments.
: File 1 - contains a title page giving the name(s) and full
: address(es) of the author(s), the title of the paper, its word
: count (maximum 5000 words), 5 keywords, and an abstract of 200
: words. File 2 - contains the title of the paper, 5 keywords, a
: 200-word abstract, and the full body of the paper. Any
: information that reveals the identity of the author(s) should be
: removed.

: SEVENTH RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM ON EMERGING ELECTRONIC MARKETS
:
: "Electronic Markets ? From Business Strategies to Implementation"
:
: St.Gallen, Switzerland, September 17th to 19th, 2000
:
: The Digital Economy has brought about a variety of business models such as power
: shopping, virtual communities and supply chain management as well as
: technologies such as electronic product catalogs and personalization tools. Even
: though those two topics are closely related to each other, research and
: development of electronic markets usually is driven by the emphasis on one of
: them to the neglect of threads and opportunities stemming from the other aspect.
: In addition, electronic markets are seldom developed as part of an overall
: strategy and are usually not integrated into the organizational structure of
: companies.
:
: Against this background we call for papers to explore electronic markets and
: their critical success factors in a holistic manner. This includes technology,
: models and services, business strategies, and business models. Since it is
: neither technology nor strategy alone that distinguishes a successful business
: model, we are particularly interested in receiving integrative approaches that
: relate technological and management perspective, e.g., we are interested in
: methods of designing platforms for novel business models and devising the means
: to control the implementation with regards to the business goals.
:
: Topics include but are not limited to:
: - Strategies and business models for electronic markets, e.g., novel
: community-based business models.
: - Formal or semi-formal models of electronic markets (or components):
: conceptual frameworks, organizational models, cognitive models, formalizations,
: as, e.g., logical models.
: - Design principles of electronic markets: engineering approaches, design
: patterns and methods, architectures and components, coordination, trust,
: normative values as well as strategic planning and controlling of
: platforms for e-commerce.
: - Integrative reference models of Electronic Markets describing how to
: integrate management and technological perspective, e.g. in design and in
: controlling.
:
: The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers in all areas of
: electronic markets to present and discuss research in progress. Attendance is
: limited to a maximum of 30 contributors. We seek a mix of participants ranging
: from Ph.D. students to senior academics. Every participant must be a
: contributor, i.e., as a presenter and/or as a discussant.
:
: Individuals interested in participating should e-mail an extended abstract (1000
: words) to Ulrike.Lechner (Ulrike.Lechner(a)unisg.ch) and Katarina.Stanoevska
: (Katarina.Stanoevska(a)unisg.ch) before June 10th. Notification is sent by June

: Katarina Stanoevska-Slabeva (Local Co-Chair), University St.Gallen
: Howard Williams, Strathclyde Business School
:
: Submission:
: Submissions describe either a work-in-progress or an original work (not
