: 2ND CALL FOR PAPERS - 2ND CALL FOR PAPERS - 2ND CALL FOR PAPERS
:
: International Workshop on
: Conceptual Modelling for Knowledge Discovery and Management Systems
: KDMS2000
: to be held in conjunction with the
: 19th International Conference on Conceptual Modelling, ER2000,
: Salt Lake City, Utah, October 9-12, 2000
:
: Aim of the Workshop
: Knowledge discovery systems (and knowledge discovery components of larger
: systems) are constructed to automate the analysis of large volumes of
: structured or semi-structured data. They contain data mining algorithms that
: apply heuristics to generate rules that can then be passed to either a user for
: further investigation or directly to a system to modify the system's behaviour.
: However, the results from data mining routines, whilst constrained, are
: dependent on the knowledge found within the data and thus the nature of the
: rules and the behaviour of the system cannot be entirely predicted a priori.
: Moreover, the semantics of the rules discovered are critically dependent on the
: model of the data being mined. Nevertheless, the development of reliable,
: robust and responsive systems that employ data mining components is important
: as the potential benefits of employing knowledge discovery are large. It is
: important, therefore, that there be a solid conceptual foundation in terms !
: of data, rule and process modelling.
: Knowledge management systems manage data, information, knowledge, and processes
: accumulated by an organization. Recently, knowledge discovery and knowledge
: management have become a popular issues for organizations striving for
: competitive intelligence. Many data mining algorithms have been proposed,
: however, to date, little research has been undertaken on their adoption,
: application and modeling for knowledge management. The motivation for knowledge
: management initially came from industry in order to satisfy business needs and
: to create competitive advantage. Attention from the research community is more
: recent and a variance exists between the industry and the research communities.
:
: In this workshop, we aim to create a forum for both researchers and
: practitioners in the areas of knowledge discovery and knowledge management
: systems for the discussion of various open issues, research topics, techniques,
: practices and lessons learned from industry for reducing this gap. In this
: respect we are less interested in data mining algorithms themselves, than in
: their application to real-world projects and their integration within existing
: systems.
: The workshop will thus provide a forum for the development of research related
: to the modelling of knowledge discovery and management systems.
: Topics include, but are not limited to:
: Capturing and filtering knowledge characteristics
: Experience papers in embedding knowledge discovery and management
: components into real-world systems
: Identification and integration of knowledge management sources
: Knowledge management for e-commerce
: Methodologies and Tools for Knowledge Discovery and Management Systems
: Modelling knowledge discovery and management processes
: Modelling the results of data mining
: Models for mining from semi-structured data
: Models of web mining
: Ontologies of data mining routines and knowledge discovery systems
: Process models for knowledge discovery and management systems
: Software engineering for knowledge discovery and management systems
: Statistical modelling and its use in knowledge discovery systems
: Survey and research issues in KDMSs
: Techniques for competitive intelligence
: The use of data mining within the requirement analysis and
: design processes
: User requirements for knowledge discovery or management.
:
: Publication of Proceedings
: The workshop proceedings will be published as part of the Springer, Lecture
: Notes in Computer Science series.
:
: Format and Submission of papers
: Format of papers will be as for the main International Conference on Conceptual
: Modelling and the other workshops (12 pages in Springer's Lecture Notes in
: Computer Science standard format). Springer files for formatting can be found
: at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
: Except in exceptional cases, papers will only be accepted electronically to
: kdms2000(a)cs.flinders.edu.au. A notice of confirmation will be sent, again
: electronically, once the submission has been successfully printed. Postscript,
: Word and PDF are all acceptable for refereeing although please be aware that
: formats for final camera ready versions may be more restrictive than this.
: Important Dates
: Papers Due - April 18, 2000
: Notification of Acceptances - May 30, 2000

: About ER2000
: The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling provides an international
: forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which
: the major emphasis is on conceptual modeling. The conference was originally
: devoted to the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, but has long since expanded to
: include all types of semantic data modeling, behavior and process modeling, and
: object-oriented systems modeling. The conference embraces all phases of
: software development including analysis, specification, design, implementation,
: evolution and reengineering. It is the aim of this conference to present
: state-of-the-art research on emerging topics in conceptual modeling, to review
: important techniques in related areas, and to discuss application papers of
: interest to information system professionals as well as information technology
: academics and researchers.
: Further details can be found at the ER2000 website http://www.er2000.byu.edu/.
:
: Location
: The conference will be one of three workshops held in conjunction with the 19th

: used sociological terms like negotiation, interaction, contracts,
: agreement, organization, cohesion, social order, and collaboration.
: Meanwhile an interdisciplinary area called "Socionics" is in the
: beginning to establish itself. In the last years researchers in
: Artificial Intelligence, Sociology, Evolution Theory and Self-Organizing
: Principles have shown interest in answers to questions like:
:
: * What have human and artificial societies in common?
: * How do we deal with the offer of interaction with artificial agents
: and artificial multi-agent communities?
: * What can the DAI community do to get acceptance from "conventional"
: users?
: * What are the main difficulties in designing hybrid societies?
: * What are the effects of growing involvement of artificial societies
: in social life?
: * Where are the "walls" to handle artificial worlds?
: * How can we overcome the existing difficulties in using agent systems?
:
: The workshop will consider organizational models by exploiting agent
: technology for the simulation and evaluation of organizational
: behaviour. Specific aspects of organizational structures,
: for example, the different (sub)groups that can be distinguished within
: an organization, the different roles in a group, and interaction between
: roles, shall be investigated with respect to the involvement of
: artificial partners. An organizational structure provides coordination
: of the different individual actor and agent behaviours. An interesting
: relation is the relation between an organization structure
: specification, the dynamics of individual human and agents behaviour
: (behavioural specification), and the emerging dynamics for the community
: as a whole.
: The workshop aims to exchange ideas on different aspects of agent-
: oriented approaches in connection to organizational knowledge,
: structures and behaviour.
:
: -------------------------------------------------------------------
: Topics
:
: * modelling of artificial and hybrid organizations
: * agent behaviour in organizational structures
: * commitment, responsibility and obligations in artificial and hybrid
: societies
: * semantics of the dynamics of organizational models
: * requirements of agents in artificial and hybrid societies
: * organizational roles
: * adaptive organization models
: * simulation of artificial and hybrid societies
: * self organizing systems and emergent organization
: * applications

:
: ** THEMENGEBIET PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING:
:
: geforderten Leistungsattribute erfuellen koennen.
:
: Engineering
: und artverwandter Aufgabenbereiche aktiv sind, werden gebeten,
: entsprechende
: Beiträge zu folgenden Themenschwerpunkten einzureichen:
:
: Praxisberichte:
: - Praxis-/Erfahrungsberichte aus laufenden/abgeschlossenen Projekten
: - Aufwandsuntersuchungen für Performance Engineering
:
: Prozesse des Performance-Engineering:
: - Risiken nicht performanter Softwaresysteme
: - Performance-orientierte Design- und Implementierungstechniken
: - Performance-Betrachtungen innerhalb des Entwicklungsprojektes
:
: Modellierung des Performance-Verhalten innerhalb der Softwareentwicklung:
: - Berücksichtigung von "Quality of Service" Eigenschaften
: - Gewinnung von Modellvariablen
: - Erfahrungen im Umgang mit entsprechenden Tools
:
: Der Umfang der Beiträge sollte 3000 Wörter nicht übersteigen.
: Die Formatierungsrichtlinien sind der angegebenen Webseite zu entnehmen.
:
: Die Beiträge sollen in Kurzvorträgen (Vortragslänge ca. 20 Minuten zzgl. 10
:
: Minuten Diskussion) präsentiert werden. Alle angenommenen Beiträge werden
